Today's vehicles have so many safety features built into the exterior panels and these panels are typically affected first in a collision. Towing can actually prevent further incident by securing the vehicle involved, and keeping the driver safe. Newer vehicles have safety systems built into them that can steer the vehicle for you if it senses an object or unsafe maneuver is being attempted. In the event of an accident where the panel sensors are mounted on smashed or damaged panels it could cause the vehicle to pull out of the hands of the driver, or stop suddenly because the sensors are out of position or damaged. Towing takes these risks out of the equation and safely transports the damaged vehicle to our shop.   Towing the vehicle directly to our shop is crucial because we want the vehicle to arrive in the exact same condition and mileage from when the accident took place. On the day of completion, prior to reaching out to the customer, a thorough quality control inspection is required.   In this quality control inspection, the shop representative with the authorized repair order should confirm that all repairs and parts are safely repaired or replaced. This includes fit and finish, and confirming the new paint color matches the undamaged parts of the car. FRAME REPAIR Frame damage refers to 2 different auto frame systems. The structure or foundation of the vehicle could be damaged. There are 2 types of auto and light truck frames.   The first frame type is a single iron structure that the body of the vehicle sits on and is typically bolted to the frame. This type of frame is most commonly referred to as a "Full Frame". The full frame is made from either iron, steel, or thick reinforced aluminum and requires a bench-type frame rack that is wide, large, and strong enough to support the weight of its vehicles. The damage to this type of frame system requires hydraulic pulling towers that have the capacity to pull from 7-10 ton strengths. 3 Stage Auto Collision is equipped with a Car-O-Liner frame repair system with 3D measuring to ensure if your vehicle has this Full Frame system we can handle the damage.    The second type of frame system is the "Uni-Structure, or Unitized Frame Structure". Most cars and mid-size crossover vehicles are manufactured with this type of framing structure. This frame system is made up of reinforced steel or alloy metal connected together through weld and bonding. "Uni" in the word "Unitized" means the single structure surrounds the cab and engine compartment with reinforced sheet metal, and/or aluminum. It is designed to collapse strategically during a collision to protect the passengers and the vital parts of the vehicle. It is a process of applying:   1) A milky dull base coat. 2) The clear coat solution is applied directly to the base coat. The clear coat makes the base coat appear deep and glossy. With a good buffing the gloss is terrific and gives a classy, timeless appearance.    The final finishing technique that is prevalent today is simply spraying a glossy color directly to the surface you are painting. This process requires 3-4 coats to get a decent gloss and allows very little buffing, due to dulling that can take place easily, if the buffer is applied too heavily. This is the most inexpensive process of auto body refinishing. It takes less time and materials, but the gloss and depth of colors are limited.  At 3 Stage Auto Collision we are experts at all 3 processes of auto body painting. PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR Paintless dent repair is the art of removing a dent from dented sheet metal or aluminum. This repair process is quite different than the traditional hammer and dollying used to flatten a dent in a truck or car. Specialized dent removal tools are needed for this dent removal process. These tools are available in a wide variety of hooked metal shafts, that are beveled at the ends. At the ends of these hooks are hard plastic protector caps, to help ensure the auto manufacturer E-coat is not scratched, where rust could potentially set in later.   Sometimes interior trim and parts will need to be removed to provide access to the dented panels. Over the years these specialized tools have become more and more advanced and the industry is constantly developing new tools and technologies. This helps prevent the removal of parts or interior in most cases.   The latest technology uses very powerful adhesives which are applied to the dented surface to attach pulling tabs to slowly (and with very technical skill) remove dents without having to affect the parts of the vehicle that are being serviced. As these pulling tabs are being secured by the adhesives to the damaged panel, a pulling arm is used to pull out the dents in the panels. The result is less intrusive on the vehicle and its parts, as well as rust protection materials involved with the panels being repaired. T his procedure is not recommended if the vehicle's paint is broken, cracked, or scratched beyond the clear coat.   Paintless dent removal is more prevalent than ever.
