If needed, we will be happy to set up an appointment for you and we will communicate with the specialist’s office throughout your treatment with them, so that x-rays, information, and reports are shared between the specialist and our doctors. Insurance We realize that financing the smile you were meant to have can be a concern. We also know that having that smile is priceless. Our office will work with you and your insurance company to make your dream a reality. Insurance companies are not always easy or pleasant to deal with. Here at Beverly Hills Dentistry we strive to make this aspect a “hassle free” experience for our patients. We have an on-site billing specialist who will make every effort to handle, process, and follow up on your claim to make sure they get paid. This specialist is available daily to answer any questions you have regarding your dental insurance or claims. Every insurance plan is different and may pay differently so, at your request, we can pre-authorize any needed treatment to get an accurate estimate. Please note that the insurance companies may take up to four weeks to provide us with an answer. We realize having dental insurance is a benefit to you and it is therefore important to use your benefits fully. As a service to you, we will keep track of your benefit usage, and help you get the maximum value of your policy. Please remember that any unused benefits are lost at the end of the year. We accept and can bill all PPO plans. We are only in network with Delta Dental PPO. Financing Payment is expected in full on the day of service. We make every attempt to work with our patients and have a number of options available. We feel strongly that each patient should receive the best recommended course of treatment. We do not want insurance companies or the lack of insurance dictating your treatment. For any patient that may need financial assistance, we will be happy to discuss different financing options for you on an individual basis. As a courtesy to you, we bill your insurance company and provide them the necessary documentation. Insurance companies average four to six weeks to pay on claims. We provide quality treatment and dedicate time specifically for your appointment. If you do not keep your appointment, that time is lost and adds significantly to our overhead. We make every effort to keep our fees reasonable, but missed appointments can make this difficult. We appreciate you as a patient and in return we ask for the same consideration. We do our best to give you proper notice of your scheduled appointment by contacting you via email/text two weeks in advance and then again three days prior via email/text and/ or a confirmation call. We give you the opportunity to change your appointment if you happen to have a change in your own schedule. We require 48 hours notice (2 business days) to cancel an appointment. This will give us adequate time to offer your appointment time to another patient who may need it. For repeated late cancellations and missed appointments, we’re sure you’ll understand that an appropriate fee will be applied to your account. SHAWN FRAWLEY Dr. Shawn Frawley is a caring, friendly, and easy going person. He is incredibly thorough and goes the extra mile with patients by treating them as individuals. He is passionate about providing each patient he sees with quality treatment that will help improve a patient’s oral health. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University with a BS in Biology and a minor in Business Administration in 2003. At LMU, he was heavily involved in student government and a fraternity organization, Sigma Chi. Upon graduation he received the Thomas Pitts award for his academic excellence within the department of Biology. He went on to attend University of the Pacific, Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. He enjoyed being in a new place and appreciated it for all it had to offer. In 2008 he graduated with high honors and was elected into the Tau Kappa Omega honor society for his scholarly and clinical performance (was in the top 5% of his class). After graduating dental school, he felt it was important to broaden his horizons and put his education to work. He attended a one year General Practice Residency (GPR) program at the VA Sepulveda Dental Clinic in the San Fernando Valley. During this time he received extensive training in dental implantology and adhesive dentistry. He did very well and was named “Resident of the Year.” He became good friends with his fellow colleagues, with whom he still communicates and gets together. He established relationships with some of his patients who have now followed him to Beverly Hills Dentistry . Dr. Shawn joined Beverly Hills Dentistry in 2009 and is happy to be working with his dad, Dr. Kevin Frawley and sister, Dr. Michele Frawley. They all work well together and their personalities and skills help to create a well-balanced practice. He is known for spending time with his patients to ensure they leave the office happy, comfortable, and with perfect fitting restorations! He is incredibly ethical and honest with his patients and only recommends treatment he feels would be beneficial for them. He is an advocate of continued education and often holds in office seminars for the staff to keep their education strong as well. Dr. Shawn is a member of several important dental associations including the American Dental Association (ADA), the California Dental Association (CDA), the Los Angeles Dental Association (LADS), the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM). Dentistry is all around, as Dr. Shawn met and married a pediatric dentist- Dr. Sahar Doostzadeh. They have a wonderful happy life together. They have 2 daughters-Lilly and Lyla. He is a dedicated, supportive, and loving father. He enjoys spending time with his family by attending Girl Scout events, hosting play groups, and going to Home Depot. He enjoys working with his hands and builds things like bookshelves and baby gates. He enjoys working out playing golf when he can. His biggest passion is cooking, for which he has become quite famous amongst family, friends, and the office. So what’s the difference, why does it matter? Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder that involves pauses in breathing during sleep. There are two types: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and central sleep apnea (CSA). In OSA, the muscles supporting the soft tissues in the throat, including the tongue and soft palate, relax temporarily and narrow or close the airway. In CSA, breathing stops due to problems with the nervous system. Your brain “forgets” to signal your muscles to continue breathing. Several things can obstruct the airway and cause you to snore, including allergies drinking before bed, being overweight and having large tonsils or a deviated septum. Screening Questions Before Treatment Some questions we will ask to determine if you have sleep apnea include: Do you snore? Snoring is a sign that your airway is constricted. Do you feel tired during the day? When you wake up, do you feel like you haven’t slept at all? Does your partner notice that you stop breathing during the night? Or choke or gasp for air? Do you have high blood pressure? You are at greater risk for sleep apnea if you are 50 or older, and if you have a BMI greater than 28. Men are more likely than women to suffer from sleep apnea. SLEEP APNEA AND YOUR HEALTH Sleep apnea leads to poor sleep quality. Every time breathing pauses, carbon dioxide levels in the bloodstream begin to build up. The brain notices this and sends signals for the person to wake up so they can take breaths of fresh air and restore oxygen levels.
