Sign the Petition for Grant Funding ABOUT Cachagua Fire provides fire suppression and emergency medical services to the rural and mountainous areas at the eastern end of Carmel Valley, known as the Cachagua area.   The Cachagua Fire Department is lead by Fire Chief Yancey Cabrera. Chief Cabrera has been a dedicated member of Cachagua Fire since 2018 exemplifying strong leadership and commitment to the department.   He holds advanced training in Wilderness First Responder emergency care and swift water rescue, and is qualified to instruct in both. Over the years, he has served in multiple roles in the department, including Medical Instructor, Training Officer, EMT, Captain, and Vice President.   Division Chief Jeff Wardwell brings over 20 years of fire service experience with Monterey County Regional Fire Protection District, where he served as an Engineer and Paramedic. His background also includes leadership roles supporting community engagement and organizational development, reflecting a strong commitment to public safety and service.   Division Chief Heather Curry has served with Cachagua Fire for over 20 years, joining the department in 2000 at the age of 16, following in her father’s footsteps with a strong desire to serve her community.
