One thing people may notice, however, is that you’re starting to smile a whole lot more. LIVE LIFE THE WAY YOU WANT With Invisalign smooth, comfortable aligners, there are no irritating brackets or wires to worry about and no food restrictions that will change your eating habits. Plus with fewer doctor visits, Invisalign fits conveniently into your busy lifestyle. MAINTAIN ORAL HYGIENE Invisalign treatment not only straightens your teeth, it allows you to continue to brush and floss as normal since the aligners are removable. As you know, having straight teeth can not only affect your oral health, it can impact your professional and social life as well. Dentist in Glendale Explains the Best Candidates for Invisalign Treatment Invisalign is a clear orthodontic alternative that many patients consider when it comes to treating misalignment of the smile. Whether they have crooked teeth within the dental arch or a misaligned bite, treatments such as orthodontics can help. However, metal bracket and wire braces are not always right for patients. Instead, many patients ask about Invisalign. Is Invisalign right for me? How long is treatment with Invisalign? Is Invisalign affordable? Dentist in Glendale, CA encourages patients to find out more about this treatment and determine if they are appropriate candidates. Is Invisalign Right For Me? Invisalign is great for patients with mild to moderate misalignment. This means they have minor changes that need to be made. It can also be used for patients with poor bite alignment, whether they have underbites, overbites, or cross bites. Patients with more several malocclusion may not be good candidates for Invisalign. How Long Is Treatment With Invisalign? Invisalign treatment varies from patient to patient depending on the severity of their misalignment and the compliance with treatment. The entire process uses clear aligner trays made into a series. Each tray is worn for two weeks at a time all day and night to slowly push teeth into their proper locations. This is done gradually with amazing results over the course of months or a year. Is Invisalign Affordable? Many patients find Invisalign treatment to be comparable with conventional braces. However, it has many extra benefits. Invisalign is comfortable, easy to use, and discreet. The entire process is fast and effective. Patients who are concerned about the cost of Invisalign are welcome to discuss financing options with our team. Interested in learning more about Invisalign? This type of surgery focuses on treating conditions that are complex and require extensive training to address them effectively. The primary goal of oral surgery is to restore function and aesthetics for a healthy mouth, focusing on treating problems that can affect the hard and soft tissues that involve the mouth and skull. It involves both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, which can help patients who suffer from various types of facial trauma or irregularity. Depending on the procedure or treatment needed, oral surgery can sometimes involve using surgical tools or drills for reshaping bones or performing biopsies if cancerous growths are suspected. When is oral surgery needed? Oral surgery may be necessary to help restore both form and function of the face, mouth, and jaw structures. It can be used to correct many conditions, such as: Impacted wisdom teeth: When the tooth doesn't fully erupt from the gums. Tooth decay: When a cavity is too large to be treated with a filling. Periodontal disease: An infection of the gums and bone that supports teeth. Oral cancer: Any abnormal growth or lesion in the mouth. TMJ disorder: Pain and dysfunction in the jaw joint. Bone grafting: When there is not enough healthy bone for dental implants. Facial injury or trauma: Including broken facial bones. Sleep apnea: A condition where the person stops breathing during sleep. Oral Surgery in Glendale is performed by Dr. Leo Aghajanian, who keeps up with current developments in this field by attending courses and conferences to stay updated on best practices. He performs surgeries using advanced technology, such as 3-D imaging equipment or lasers, for precise results. omprehensive postoperative care and follow-up appointments are also provided in our dental office in Glendale to ensure optimal healing outcomes for our patients. We want our patients to avoid conditions such as periodontal disease (or gum disease) to keep the smile free from bacteria and infection. When Glendale, CA area patients are ready to visit a dentist for an evaluation and possible treatment of gum disease, they are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a dedicated dentist, Dr. Leo Aghajanian. What is Periodontal Disease? Periodontal disease is the initiation of an infection in the mouth. Bacteria forms and causes a variety of issues that may indicate that gum disease has developed. Which are the symptoms of periodontal disease? Persistent bad breath. Difficulty controlling bad breath. Red, swollen gum tissue. Pockets developing between gum tissue and teeth. Loose teeth. Bleeding while brushing and flossing. Periodontal treatment often involves a deep cleaning procedure that is non-surgical in nature. Most patients do well with treatment under local anesthetics. The dentist removes plaque and tartar from above and below the gum line and smooths out rough spots on the tooth root. The entire procedure is known as scaling and root planing and is known to be extremely effective in cleaning the surfaces of the teeth and re-establishing periodontal health. Patients who have been diagnosed with gum disease will also need to visit the dentist on a more regular basis to monitor the condition and ensure the smile is brought back to health. Instead of visiting every six months, a patient with periodontal disease may need to see their dentist every three months until the condition has been cleared. Contact us for Periodontal Treatment Options If you live in the area of Glendale, CA and want to learn more about periodontal treatment options available at Precision Dental, call our practice at (818) 545-8923 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Leo Aghajanian and his staff. It is so important for patients in the community to take good care of their teeth and gums to avoid conditions such as tooth decay and periodontal disease . One step commonly taken to ensure the protection of the natural tooth enamel is the application of dental sealants. What is a dental sealant? A sealant is a special material that is applied onto the teeth to add an extra layer of protection against decay and disease. The sealant is completely safe to use and can provide that barrier necessary to cut down the risk of cavities and gum disease . While many patients think of sealants being used for young children who may have poor oral health habits, sealants may also be used on adults, especially those highly susceptible to decay and disease. Who is a candidate for dental sealants? Patients of all ages can use dental sealants to act as protection against irreversible problems that can occur to the smile. At Precision Dental, we will often educate patients on the advantages of using dental sealants and provide them with solutions and options to keep their smile healthy for as long as possible. How often should I have sealants placed? Most sealants last a few years, so visiting the dentist regularly is the best way to determine when sealants may need to be reapplied to the surfaces of the teeth for optimum results and protection. Sealants may start in early childhood and continue into adulthood depending on the needs of the specific patient. At Precision Dental, Dr. Leo Aghajanian and his team of professionals are available to help with a variety of preventative solutions, including the application of dental sealants. Contact his facility at (818) 545-8923 or visit personally at 411 N Central Ave Suite #245 (opens in new tab) . Near-100% stability can be achieved with the right number of implants and a crown, bridge, or full denture. Dental Implants: The most significant dental innovation of our generation We can achieve things that were previously not possible. Advantages of dental implants include: Best Long-Term Solution: With the highest success rate on any tooth-replacement option and a track record spanning decades, implants are the best long-term solution to missing teeth. Properly cared for, implants can last the rest of your life — that's what makes them such a good value. Titanium Metal Fuses to Bone Through the natural process of osseointegration, the titanium metal of the implant actually becomes fused with the living bone cells of the jaw. This remarkable union forms a strong and durable anchor for your new teeth. Dental Implants Replace Tooth Roots Because they become integrated into the bone itself, dental implants actually stop the bone loss that inevitably follows tooth loss. Implants won't loosen over time like dentures or fail like bridges; they look, feel and function just like natural teeth. Preserving bone structure helps preserve your appearance — and your confidence. Lifelike Appearance Dental implants are virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth in both aesthetics and function. Plus, they provide a host of benefits that other tooth replacement systems just can't match. The visible part (crown) is custom-made to enhance your smile - but the real beauty of dental implants goes much deeper. Durability Implants are very durable and will last many years. With good care, many implants last a lifetime. Improved comfort Because they become part of you, implants eliminate the discomfort of removable dentures. Improved self-esteem Dental implants can give you back your smile and help you feel better about yourself. Easier eating Sliding dentures can make chewing difficult. Dental implants function like your own teeth, allowing you to eat your favorite foods with confidence and without pain. Improved speech With poor-fitting dentures, the teeth can slip within the mouth causing you to mumble or slur your words. Dental implants allow you to speak without the worry that teeth might slip. Improved oral health Dental implants don’t require reducing other teeth, as a tooth-supported bridge does. Because nearby teeth are not altered to support the implant, more of your own teeth are left intact, improving long-term oral health. Individual implants also allow easier access between teeth, improving oral hygiene. Convenience Removable dentures are just that; removable. Dental implants eliminate the embarrassing inconvenience of removing dentures, as well as the need for messy adhesives to keep them in place. Are you a good candidate for dental implants? Most patients can receive dental implants to restore comfort, appearance, and function. Some of the important factors that we evaluate for treatment include: Gum health. Adequate density in the jawbone. General health, including certain medications and health conditions, such as diabetes. Non-smokers are better candidates for dental implants. The Implant Procedure There are a few phases to dental implant treatment: Planning and placement After thorough planning using imaging and data from our initial exam, we place each implant post into the jawbone and cover this fixture with gum tissue. The procedure is performed with a local anesthetic. Healing Seated implants require several months to fully integrate into the jawbone. During this time, temporary restorations are in place to support chewing and cosmetic beauty. Restoration The stabilized implant post can now be fitted with an abutment, a connective piece that holds the final crown, bridge, or denture. Most patients feel no discomfort during implant surgery , and experience minimal soreness following the procedure. It is important to note that, in some cases, bone grafting may be needed prior to the placement of dental implants. In which cases are dental implants advised? Treatment with dental implants allows for: Replacing a single tooth Replacing several teeth Replacing all the teeth of a totally empty jaw. In this case, the implants allow for attaching a bridge or stabilizing a removable denture. Missing Teeth: Doing Nothing Doing nothing is still a choice. However, it is not recommended. One problem that will develop with one or more missing teeth is that the bone that once surrounded the extracted tooth will begin to deteriorate or resorb. If you eventually decide to get a dental implant, the expense will be higher because a bone graft will be required to prepare the area for your new implant. An additional risk of leaving a missing tooth untreated is that the gap left by the missing tooth can cause surrounding teeth to begin moving into the area, leading to gaps in your smile or problems with your bite. Fixing the resulting issues can lead to additional expenses down the road. Getting a dental implant ensures that your jawbone does not lose bone mass and that your smile is unaffected. It also ensures that your facial appearance does not change due to the loss of bone mass. They can cause discomfort and can make it difficult for some people to eat or drink. Canker sores typically last for up to two weeks and can range in size from 2-10 millimeters. While many treatments are available, laser therapy is an effective and efficient solution. Dr. Leo Aghajanian, a dentist who specializes in laser dentistry for canker sores in Glendale, strongly advocates for its use. This treatment option is ideal for anyone looking for a safe and reliable way to alleviate symptoms and improve their overall oral health. What causes canker sores? There are many causes of canker sores. However, several factors may increase your risk of developing them. These include stress, dietary deficiencies (especially iron, zinc, folate, B12), food allergies or intolerances, hormonal changes during menstruation, acidic foods and beverages (such as citrus fruits or tomatoes), mouth injury caused by a sharp tooth or braces/dentures rubbing against the skin inside your mouth. How can laser therapy treat canker sores? Even when there are methods that may provide temporary relief from the symptoms associated with canker sores, they do not address the underlying cause. That is why laser treatment is your best choice to treat canker sores in Glendale. By utilizing a focused laser beam, the treatment works through photobiomodulation. The photobiomodulation process is a cutting-edge therapy for treating canker sores. Clinically proven to boost blood flow, activate immune cells, and enhance cell growth, this treatment is a promising option for individuals seeking relief from the discomfort of canker sores. The mechanism behind the healing effect is the increase in laser light energy, which stimulates the body's natural healing processes. This non-invasive and painless procedure can significantly reduce the duration and severity of canker sores, making it a valuable therapeutic option for individuals suffering from recurrent outbreaks. In fact, laser therapy has been found to provide noticeable results within one or two treatments and has a relatively low risk of side effects compared to other treatments on the market. Patients typically report less pain and discomfort after their appointment, as well as an improvement in the appearance of their canker sores. This form of treatment is both safe and affordable, making it a great choice for anyone looking for an easy way to treat their sore without having to resort to more invasive methods of care. Benefits of treating canker sores with laser dentistry The benefits of treating canker sores with laser dentistry are numerous: The laser cauterization technology used seals the lesion while preventing infection and further tissue damage. The procedure is minimally invasive and causes minimal trauma to the affected area. Little to no discomfort is experienced during the procedure. Healing time is shortened, reducing discomfort and the chances of recurrence. If you are suffering from canker sores, laser treatment may be just what you need! Contact your dentist in Glendale, Dr. Leo Aghajanian, for more information about this type of treatment and how it might help you find relief from canker sores. We are waiting for your next visit! Yes No Send Message × Contact Us Form In case of a dental emergency, you should definitely contact our dental office in Glendale , do not try to remedy the situation yourself. Sometimes the situation is made worse by trying to do something about it at home or ignoring the situation. Emergencies can come in different forms , such as a knocked-out tooth, chipped tooth, pain, swelling of the face, etc. In case of a tooth that gets knocked-out if you act quickly enough, you can have it replanted into the socket without losing the tooth. In cases of pain and swelling, you must get a proper diagnosis to have the proper course of treatment, and for that, you need to come to the office for x-rays and an exam. How To Handle Dental Emergencies: Toothaches: Wash your mouth with warm water to relieve the pain. One of the first things you should do is to make sure that your mouth is clean and that there are no food remnants that can make this area uncomfortable. Very cold or very hot water can hurt your mouth, so definitely use warm water. Knocked-out tooth: The first thing to do is ensure your hands are clean, so wash them with soap and water. Then, grab the tooth by the crown (not the root) and clean it with water to disinfect it. After this, put it in a container with serum or saliva to keep it in excellent condition. Once you are at the dentist's office, he will put the tooth back in its original place. Displaced teeth: The best thing to do is to go to an emergency dentist immediately, given the fact that the most common causes for displaced teeth are gingivitis, periodontitis and acute trauma. Your Glendale dentist will study the particular issue and decide what the best possible treatment is to avoid pain and tooth loss. Broken, chipped or cracked teeth: If you’re in pain due to a broken, chipped or cracked tooth, take an over-the-counter pain reliever. If possible, keep the part of the tooth that has been broken and take it to the dentist as soon as possible. Tissue injuries: These types of injuries are very common in children, and the treatment depends on the severity of the case. Tissue injuries should be treated as conservatively as possible to reduce the potential after-effects. Crown and bridges off: If you feel that your dental crown or bridge is falling off, you will have to try to recover it to avoid swallowing it. However, if this happens, there is nothing to worry about, since the crown will pass through the digestive tract without problems. Of course, it will have to be replaced by another one. Denture problems: If you try to adjust your dentures yourself, you risk irreparably damaging them. Since dentures are expensive, you could also lose a lot of money if you try to sand, file or bend them yourself. It is always best to ask a prosthodontist or dentist to adjust them! Objects caught between teeth: The best way to eliminate foreign objects clenched between your teeth is by using dental floss. The use of tooth floss after each meal is very useful to adequately get rid of the food caught between your teeth without hurting your gums or damaging enamel. Broken braces and wires: The first thing you need to do is to schedule a dental appointment as soon as possible. While this happens, you can: Apply orthodontic wax to the area that’s been broken to prevent your mouth from rubbing. If the bracket has fallen off, save it and take it to your next dental appointment if possible. If the wire is broken or dislodged, move it with your hand or use tweezers to set it up in its original position. Apply wax to it. If you have a dental emergency CALL US! Partial dentures restore the missing teeth in the arch and use the existing teeth as support. What Are Partial Dentures Made Of? Partial dentures can be made of a metal framework on which acrylic gums and plastic teeth are added or they can be made with a flexible base that has no metal at all. Each version has its own indications for use which can be further discussed in detail during your dental exam with Dr. Leo Aghajanian, dentist in Glendale, CA. What are the benefits of partial dentures? Partial dentures provide significant benefits in both aesthetic and functional terms. Some of these benefits are: Psychological benefits, as they improve the person’s self-esteem. Replace teeth that were already in a poor condition. Speech improvement. They last from 5 to 10 years. It’s the cheapest solution to replace missing teeth. How to clean dentures Wash your mouth and dentures after each meal. Dentures must be cleaned at least once a day with a special prosthetics brush and some dish washing liquid. (If the metal part turns matte, it means the denture has bacterial plaque that can cause cavities.) Don't use toothpaste or alcohol because toothpaste creates scratches and rubbing alcohol cracks the acrylic. Oral Health How often should I visit a dentist? You should visit your dentist at least twice a year at 6-month intervals, but sometimes more often in some circumstances. What causes bad breath, and what should I do if I have it? Commonly bad breath is caused by volatile organic compounds released by the bacteria that live in our mouths in the following circumstances: overgrowth of bacteria on the tongue, infections of the gums, cavities, rotting food debris that accumulates between teeth that have spaces or uneven surfaces and in some cases can be the result of gastric reflux commonly known as 'heart burn' which involves stomach acid traveling back up the esophagus ( the food pipe) into the mouth. These are indicative of problems that exist in the mouth that can potentially lead to severe conditions which compromise one's quality of life. The good news is that all of these conditions are treatable. How often should I brush and floss? You should floss and brush once in the morning, once before sleeping and after meals. How often should I have a dental cleaning? Generally, if you have healthy gums, you should have your teeth cleaned professionally every 6 months. With patients that have periodontal disease (gum and bone disease), the frequency may change to once every 3 months. Which whitening treatment is the most effective? Although there are multiple methods of whitening , Dr. Aghajanian finds that take-home custom-made whitening trays with professional strength whitening gel give the most predictable results. I have big gaps in my teeth, what are my options? Gaps between teeth can be eliminated with three methods; orthodontics , veneers and dental crowns . Orthodontics involves braces or clear invisible aligners that move the teeth into the desired position to eliminate spaces. Veneers are made of porcelain and act as a new 'face/mask' for your tooth that can be used to close minor gaps. Crowns (caps) can also be used to address minor gaps between teeth, among other conditions such as decayed or fractured teeth. Sometimes a combination of these 3 techniques will need to be used in order to achieve the best results. Do teeth whitening toothpastes really work? There is an important difference between how teeth whitening toothpastes work and professional teeth whitening works. Whitening toothpastes have aggressive sand-like particles that help remove the dark stains on your teeth to reveal the tooth surface underneath but they do not lighten the existing tooth surface itself. In contrast, professional custom made trays and whitening gels actually brighten the tooth surface itself. Over time the whitening toothpastes can wear the surfaces of your teeth prematurely, so be careful and use them sparingly, alternating with regular toothpastes. Which toothbrush is better, electric o manual? More important than comparing manual vs. electric toothbrushes is the technique of brushing itself. Granted high-quality electric toothbrushes will make brushing easier and more efficient, but only if they are used correctly. The same results can be a Dental Fillings Glendale Dentistry Skip Navigation SCHEDULE A DENTAL APPOINTMENT (818) 545-8923 411 N Central Ave Suite #245 , Glendale , CA 91203 (opens in new tab) HOME OUR DENTIST Our Dentist Dr. Aghajanian Why Us Dentist Interview Testimonials Write a Review PATIENTS Patients First Dental Visit Patient Information Faq`s Dental Emergency Office Gallery Dental Fun Facts Smile Gallery DENTAL PROCEDURES Dental Procedures All Services Implant Dentistry ICON Resin Infiltration Cosmetic Dentistry Porcelain Veneers Crowns Composite Bonding Teeth Whitening Orthodontics Invisalign Retainers Oral Surgery Wisdom Tooth Removal Tmj Disorder Preventive Dentistry Dental Exams Digital X-rays Cleanings Dry Mouth (Xerostomia) Oral Cancer Screening Fluoride Sealants General Dentistry Fillings Crowns Dental Bridges Partial Dentures Complete Dentures Root Canal Therapy Periodontal (Gum) Treatment Laser Dentistry Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy (LAPT) Laser Bacterial Reduction Canker Sore Treatment Frenectomy Gummy Smile Correction BLOG CONTACT US Home Dental Services Dental Fillings Dental Fillings Services Menu Implant Dentistry Dental Implants Cosmetic Dentistry Porcelain Veneers Crowns Composite Bonding Teeth Whitening General Dentistry Fillings Crowns Dental Bridges Partial Dentures Complete Dentures Root Canal Therapy Periodontal (Gum) Treatment Preventive Dentistry Dental Exams Digital X-rays Cleanings Bad Breath (Halitosis) Dry Mouth (Xerostomia) Oral Cancer Screening Fluoride Sealants Intraoral Photography ICON Resin Infiltration ICON Resin Infiltration Laser Dentistry Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy (LAPT) Laser Bacterial Reduction Canker Sore Treatment Ankyloglossia (Tongue Tie) Treatment Frenectomy Gummy Smile Correction Orthodontics Invisalign Braces Retainers Oral Surgery Wisdom Tooth Removal TMJ Disorder Biopsy OUR SERVICES Implant Dentistry Dental Implants Cosmetic Dentistry Porcelain Veneers Crowns Composite Bonding Teeth Whitening General Dentistry Fillings Crowns Dental Bridges Partial Dentures Complete Dentures Root Canal Therapy Periodontal (Gum) Treatment Preventive Dentistry Dental Exams Digital X-rays Cleanings Bad Breath (Halitosis) Dry Mouth (Xerostomia) Oral Cancer Screening Fluoride Sealants Intraoral Photography ICON Resin Infiltration ICON Resin Infiltration Laser Dentistry Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy (LAPT) Laser Bacterial Reduction Canker Sore Treatment Ankyloglossia (Tongue Tie) Treatment Frenectomy Gummy Smile Correction Orthodontics Invisalign Braces Retainers Oral Surgery Wisdom Tooth Removal TMJ Disorder Biopsy Dental fillings are placed in teeth after cavities are removed in order to replace the missing area of the tooth. When your gums are inflamed due to plaque or tartar build-up they become leaky and allow microbes from your mouth to leach into your blood stream. The process of microbes entering the blood stream can lead to potential health hazards. During your routine dental visits at our dental office in Glendale, CA , Dr. Leo Aghajanian will perform a cleaning using state of the art piezo ultra-sonic instruments and polishing, which will leave your teeth feeling super smooth and free of plaque and tartar build-up. How often should I have my teeth cleaned by a professional? Professional teeth cleaning is one of the most recommended preventive treatments to keep your teeth and gums healthy. But, you might be wondering “when do I need a dental cleaning?’’ Or ‘How often should I go to the dentist to get one?’ The truth is, there is no ideal frequency, but many dentists recommend performing a dental cleaning in the office once every six months. It may seem very often, but the reality is that our teeth and gums are subject to thousands of bacteria every day. Even when brushing your teeth very well two or three times a day, toothbrushes do not remove all dental plaque. 4 reasons not to skip your dental cleaning Prevention: Even though you brush your teeth every day, dental plaque will inevitably accumulate on your teeth and gums. Plus, dental plaque removal from inflamed gums can be very uncomfortable. Unattractive smile: If you do not schedule at least one professional dental cleaning a year, your teeth will look very unattractive and worn-out due to a change in color or stains caused by cavities. Tartar can be very dangerous: In addition to being unsightly and causing tooth decay, tartar is very dangerous to our health. Our immune system considers these bacteria a foreign body and, as with any pathogen, it tries to fight it with inflammation and bleeding, which causes gingivitis or periodontal disease. To feel way more confident: We must pay particular attention to our oral hygiene in the same way that we take care of our body and our skin. By having a great, healthy smile, you will feel more comfortable about yourself and about talking and smiling at others! Related Articles About Dental Cleanings: Which toothpaste is best for you? What Is a Frenum? A frenum is part of your mouth's anatomy. The mouth has two muscular attachments. Lingual Frenum – This is under the tongue that connects the tongue to the bottom part of the mouth. Maxillary Labial Frenum – This is one that attaches the top lip to above the top teeth. When a lingual frenum or maxillary labial frenum affects the teeth' appropriate functioning, a frenectomy may be performed. About a Frenectomy A frenectomy removal or shortens the frenum. The procedure provides many benefits depending on which frenum the procedure is performed on. Lingual Frenum Frenectomy When the lingual frenum is too long, it can cause issues with swallowing, eating, and talking. Shortening it can improve all of those functions. Maxillary Labial Frenum Frenectomy When this frenum is large or attaches close to the teeth, it can cause a gap between the two front teeth. Many people find the gap closes when the frenum is removed with a frenectomy. Your dentist in Glendale doesn't always recommend a frenectomy, even though it is a simple procedure. A laser may be used, or the dentist will cut the frenum off and place some stitches where it was attached. Related Articles About Dentures: Gummy Smile Correction What do I bring to my appointment? Ceramic crowns differ from conventional crowns in that they have no metal inside. These crowns are made from a single piece of material (lithium disilicate-eMax or Zirconia) which gives them added strength and durability. Schedule your appointment today with our dentist in Glendale , Dr Leo Aghajanian. What are Crowns? Benefits, Candidate Crowns have been a mainstay of dentistry for many decades. Originally, these restorative fixtures had been made of gold. This is still a commonly used dental material today, and there are inherent benefits to the malleability and durability of high quality dental gold. At the same time, we recognize the need for a fully natural aesthetic. While gold is more discreet than most people imagine, we believe that our patients deserve options. That is why we have chosen to offer all-ceramic dental crowns in our Glendale office . An all-ceramic crown is crafted from a solid block of lithium disilicate. Ceramic crowns may be referred to as e-Max or Zirconia, both of which are recognized for their durability and authentic appearance. Without a metal substructure, like the standard porcelain-fused-to-metal crown, an e-Max or Zirconia crown will look much more like a natural tooth, translucent and shiny. Ceramic crowns may be considered for their aesthetic value. However, for a restoration to truly be valuable, it must do its job and do it well. The high quality lithium disilicate that is used for our crowns is lightweight, yet resilient and capable of handling the load of chewing force. Why Ceramic Crowns? One of the primary reasons that patients choose ceramic crowns, aside from their completely natural appearance, is the biocompatibility of this metal-free option. In many cases, metal dental crowns at least somewhat agitate the surrounding gum tissue. What we want to see with crown treatment is a tight fit of gum tissue around the crown. This inhibits bacterial activity around the margins. If gingival tissue is irritated, it will not adhere as nicely around the edge of the crown. Ceramic restorations mitigate this risk. Procedure for Dental Crowns The process of treatment with a ceramic crown is similar to any standard crown. The tooth is prepared with the necessary reduction to remove unhealthy areas, such as those marked with decay. Then, an impression is taken of the tooth. This creates a model that can be used in the dental lab to fabricate the final crown. In the meantime, a temporary crown is worn over the tooth. Two visits are necessary to complete the entire restorative treatment. Your oral health is the foundation for a beautiful smile. Your Glendale dentist has the treatment options you need, and delivers them with focused attention so you are pleased with your entire dental experience. Root canal therapy is performed on a tooth when the cavity has reached the nerve in the center of the tooth so as to prevent further destruction of the tooth and prevent an infection from taking place. If left untreated the bacteria in the cavity will invade the nerve space and an infection will ensue that will travel through the root of the tooth into the jaw bone and turn into an abscess. These types of infections can become very dangerous if left untreated. Dr. Leo Aghajanian, dentist in Glendale uses the highest standards of care with the latest state of the art materials and techniques to ensure the best outcome for his patient’s root canal therapy. What are the advantages of a root canal? Root canal is one of the most practiced interventions nowadays. This treatment is carried out on patients who have a tooth with a damaged nerve. A Root Canal mainly aims to return both a healthy look and the correct functionality to the tooth that’s in poor condition. Some of the Significant Advantages of This Treatment Are: It avoids tooth loss. It’s more conservative and less expensive than dental restoration. Dental infection and other microorganisms are eliminated. It’s performed in just one session using local anesthesia. The materials used in the nerve filling are 100 percent bio-compatible. How is a Root Canal Performed? Root Canal is not a painful procedure at all. Once the patient is anesthetized, your Glendale Dentist will remove the diseased tissue and will access the nerve or nerves, depending on the tooth that is affected. Then, he will remove the pulp tissue (nerve) mechanically, cleaning the resulting canal thoroughly. At the same time, your dentist will seek the root length, providing the canal with a conical shape to facilitate its filling. Finally, and after some relevant radiographic confirmations, the canals will be sealed, closed or refilled with endodontic materials that will seal them entirely. The temporomandibular joint is the joint between the jaw and the temporal bone of the skull. Thanks to the presence of ligaments, tendons and muscles that support this joint, the movements of the jaw can be performed. TMJ disorder or the dislocation of the temporomandibular joint is characterized by a hypermobility of the joint due to the presence of laxity and weakness of the joint ligaments. Clinically, TMJ disorder occurs just as an oral opening does, with an inability to close the mouth, and a limitation of contact between the teeth. In the acute phase of TMJ disorder, there is intense pain, a limitation of the movement angle and an absence of joint clicking during normal functions. What causes TMJ disorder? TMJ Disorder can happen due to several factors, which our dentist in Glendale will explain below: Anatomical alterations of the joint. Bruxism (teeth grinding). Osteoarthrosis of the joint. Habits like nibbling on hard objects or smoking pipes. Wind instrument musicians. Joint hypermobility. Some diseases such as Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease or myotonic dystrophy. Stress. Other factors that contribute to TMJ Disorder are: Trauma at the level of the joint or chin with the mouth open. Manipulation of the jaw under general anesthesia in dental procedures, in orotracheal intubation or laryngoscopy and other endoscopic procedures. Wide opening maneuvers such as yawning, laughing or vomiting. Is TMJ Disorder curable? TMJ Disorder is curable, but you must visit your doctor immediately. Do not let a lot of time pass by before putting yourself in the hands of a dentist who will evaluate the situation and offer you a possible solution. These solutions may include repositioning the jaw through manual massages. Will I need to go through surgery is I have TMJ Disorder? Surgery is an option, but it is reserved for more complicated and serious cases. What is truly vital is visiting the dentist as soon as possible. A problem that can be solved in a very short amount of time and in a simple way could lead to something more serious. In fact, tissue scarring around the joint can be difficult to solve. If you are currently suffering from TMJ disorder, make sure to schedule a dental appointment at Precision Dental immediately so Dr. Aghajanian can provide you with the most suitable treatment for your specific case. Laser dentistry is a cutting-edge technology that allows us to provide our patients with the highest quality of care. It is a minimally invasive technique that uses light energy to safely and precisely treat gum disease, remove tissue, and biopsy lesions. Laser dentistry is much more effective than traditional treatments and can help reduce post-operative pain and swelling. The lasers used for dental procedures are highly sophisticated tools that are designed to remove tissue safely to perform necessary treatments such as root canal therapy or dental implant placement. Laser dentistry is also a less invasive procedure than traditional methods since it does not require cutting into the tissue or using any type of anesthesia. Using laser dentistry also means that recovery times are often much shorter than with more traditional treatments because there is no need for sutures or stitches after the procedure is complete. Furthermore, laser dentistry helps keep infection rates low due to its ability to precisely target areas without damaging surrounding tissues or bone structures. It can often be completed in just one visit, saving time and money! Have you noticed any white spots on your teeth lately? Do you want to treat and prevent cavities in their early stage all without any drilling? Icon Resin Infiltration is the solution! If you have early-stage cavities, Icon Resin Infiltration is an effective and minimally invasive reatment option which involves using an ultra-thin applicator to fill the incipient caries(early cavities) between teeth with an ultra-low viscosity resin. The cavity is prevented from progressing any further! The treatment does not require drilling the tooth, and most important of all your tooth structure is preserved! White spots on teeth can be caused by a number of things. They can be the result of developmental defects, trauma, fluorosis, medications or tooth decay. These conditions result in changes in the microscopic structure of enamel usually causing the enamel to become porous. The pores are filled with air that reflects light differently from healthy enamel, making the spots look white. Resin infiltration is a dental procedure that can help to correct white spots on your teeth. It is a minimally invasive treatment that involves the placement of resin material into the pores of the enamel, which helps to fill them in and restore the natural appearance of the tooth. Resin infiltration is a quick, easy, and affordable treatment that can provide a long-lasting solution to white spots on teeth. How does Resin Infiltration work? Resin Infiltration treatments are completed in a single dental visit and don’t require any drilling on your teeth. The process usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. The dentist will first examine your teeth and assess the degree of white spot damage. If you are a candidate for resin infiltration, the dentist may numb your teeth with a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout the process. A conditioner will be applied to the tooth's surface, and then the resin material will be applied to the pores of the enamel. The resin will be drawn up into the pores of the enamel, a blue light will be used to cure the resin creating a seal over the pores which restores the natural appearance of your teeth and halts the progression of cavities. You may experience minor discomfort after the treatment, but this will go away within a few days. Your teeth may be sensitive to hot and cold after the treatment, so you should avoid hot and cold drinks and foods for a few days. Resin Infiltration in Glendale Dr. Leo Aghajanian uses the latest technology in the market. Icon is a revolutionary new approach to treating incipient caries (early cavities) and white spots. An ongoing dry mouth can lead to mouth infections, gum disease , bad breath (halitosis) and dental cavities. Some causes of dry mouth can be use of prescription medications, dehydration, breathing through your mouth, stress or anxiety, smoking, and problems with how the salivary glands work. Low saliva production is common as you age. It also is common with many health conditions, such as, diabetes, Sjögren’s syndrome, or with radiation from cancer treatments. It is very important to replenish the moisture that saliva provides in your mouth because saliva acts to neutralize cavity causing acids that quickly buildup from bacteria and acidic foods that we eat. Dr. Leo Aghajanian, dentist in Glendale, takes a comprehensive approach in determining the best therapeutic options for his patients that suffer from dry mouth. How does Laser-assisted Periodontal Therapy work? The procedure starts with the removal of tartar from the root surfaces using ultrasonic and hand instruments, followed by the use of a cutting laser tip to eliminate inflamed gum pocket lining. The laser tool eradicates the infected tissue, minimizes bleeding, and stimulates the healthy tissue's healing process. Unlike traditional gum surgery, our periodontal therapy utilizes a laser that is less invasive, minimally painful and doesn't require sutures, promoting faster healing times. The laser also aids in gum re-attachment to the root surfaces, reducing pocket depths and helping to prevent bone loss from bacterial invasion. What advantages does LAPT provide? Laser-assisted periodontal therapy (LAPT) offers several advantages over traditional methods of periodontal treatment. Firstly, it is a less invasive procedure that provides greater accuracy during the treatment. The use of laser technology during this procedure eliminates the need for cutting and significantly reduces the time needed for treatment. The laser also disinfects the affected area, lowering the risk of infection. Secondly, LAPT promotes faster healing times due to the reduction of post-treatment discomfort. The energy from the laser stimulates the healthy tissues, which aids in the healing process, resulting in faster recovery times. It also has a higher success rate in treating gum disease than traditional methods. The laser is capable of eliminating bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, which means that it can be more effective in treating deep-seated gum infections. Lastly, LAPT is a safe and comfortable treatment approach. The laser operates at a specific wavelength that only affects the infected tissue, leaving the surrounding healthy tissue unharmed. The procedure is virtually painless, and the patient can resume their daily activities immediately after the treatment. In summary, LAPT provides a minimally invasive, accurate, and highly effective treatment approach for periodontal disease. The procedure promotes faster healing, has a higher success rate, and is safe and comfortable for the patient. Therefore, LAPT is becoming the preferred method of treating gum disease in many dental practices worldwide. Do not let gum disease affect your oral health and overall well-being. Contact Precision Dental in Glendale today to schedule your consultation and discover how our laser-assisted periodontal therapy can improve your smile. What do I bring to my appointment? CALL US! We all want to have a healthy, attractive smile. Unfortunately, this isn't an easy thing to accomplish. If you want a brighter, straighter, more symmetrical smile, or have stains that need to be hidden, consider the value of porcelain veneers. Veneers: an Overview A veneer is a customized shell that is fabricated from strong dental porcelain to mimic the natural appearance of enamel. The purpose of a veneer is solely cosmetic, to "close" a gap or correct another cosmetic flaw. Though it is possible to have veneers made from quality resin material, there are clear advantages to porcelain. For example, porcelain is a stain-resistant material that, though thicker than the average resin veneer, preserves the translucency of the tooth. Though it is possible to have veneers made from quality resin material, there are clear advantages to porcelain! Schedule An Appointment Common Uses For Veneers You may be a good candidate for porcelain veneers in our Glendale office if: You have a tooth that is chipped, cracked, or broken. Your teeth are worn down or naturally short. Teeth are not symmetrical and are shaped oddly. One or more teeth is slightly out of alignment. Discoloration cannot be corrected with teeth whitening. What are the benefits of Porcelain Veneers? The presence of chips, cracks, stains, and other flaws makes it difficult for you to want to show your smile. Affixing a veneer to the front surface of the problematic tooth, or completely making over your smile with a full set of veneers, can translate into noticeably higher self-confidence. Veneer treatment is conservative and convenient. The process takes two to three visits, during which we address your questions and preferences, prepare your teeth for their new "covers," and seat your final veneers with a chemical bonding procedure. The amount of preparation needed for this cosmetic enhancement is minimal. We only need to reduce surface enamel about the thickness of a fingernail. This allows the veneer to sit flush with the gums. The process for getting porcelain veneers The process for getting porcelain veneers can call for a few visits to the dentist so it is important that you are prepared to take the time needed in order to be sure that the process is completed correctly. First, our dentist in Glendale, Dr. Leo Aghajanian, will check to be sure that you are a candidate for porcelain veneers and then he will create a plan and schedule your next visit. X-rays may need to be taken as well as impressions of your teeth. The following visit is usually the placement of the veneers through bonding for your brand-new smile!
