Teeth whitening could be the answer to brighten your whole appearance. This service can quickly whiten your teeth multiple shades, leaving you with a photo-ready grin. This in office procedure is a great option for those who have had lackluster results from at home whitening, or for those who are prone to certain sensitivities and need professional care. Why Choose In-Office Teeth Whitening? Is your smile looking more off-white than pearly white? Our in-office whitening procedure will give you the results you crave right away. How does it work? First, we insert a device to widen your lips and cheeks, isolating the teeth we are about to whiten. Next, a protective substance is placed on your gums that prevents the whitening gel from touching sensitive gum tissue. Then we administer whitening gel to your teeth and expose them to an ultraviolet light to activate. In about 45 minutes, your teeth will be several shades lighter and brighter. Does Teeth Whitening Hurt? While teeth whitening should not cause pain, it can cause mild discomfort to sensitive mouths. For patients prone to teeth whitening sensitivity, we offer the following choices: At-home Whitening: Choosing to whiten at home offers more control as you can apply it in stages, helping to minimize sensitivity. We can also give you various gel strengths so you can determine which level will give you results without the discomfort. Post-whitening Fluoride Treatment: this type of treatment restores your teeth and prevents and lessens sensitivity. You can get in-office fluoride treatment , and some at-home kits also come with a fluoride treatment. How Can I Keep My Teeth Looking Whiter for Longer? Your lifestyle choices can affect the appearance of your teeth. If you want them to look their whitest for as long as possible, consider reducing your intake of the following after you whiten: Wines Coffee Tea Soda Berries Tomatoes Acidic Foods Not prepared to give up your favorite beverages? Drink through a straw instead to avoid the liquid from touching your teeth. What are Some Other Teeth Whitening Options in Long Beach, CA? Besides our in-office whitening, you can achieve that bright smile right from home with our at-home option. When you choose at-home whitening from Dentist of Long Beach, you will receive custom whitening trays to fit your teeth along with a safe yet intensive whitening gel. When you’re ready to whiten, just squeeze a dab of gel into each tooth of the whitening tray. Place the tray onto your teethy and wait. The amount you wait depends on the strength of the gel, while the number of applications relies on your desired outcome. Either way, we will make sure you know how to use the gel and trays correctly and safely. Curious to know how far your teeth have come? We keep a record of your staring shade so you can see your progress. The Quick, Safe and Effective Way to Brighten Your Smile If you want a smile makeover, Dentist of Long Beach has the solution just for you. We have a variety of options to improve the look and feel of your teeth, some of which include: Composite bonding Porcelain veneers Composite fillings Orthodontic treatment Dental implants Sometimes we don’t want to wait for results. You can get your smile brightened and whitened in under a day in the office, or a couple weeks with an at-home tray. Getting X-rayed at Dentist of Long Beach means we’ll be able to detect and screen any potential oral health issues you might have as early as possible – our goal is to catch your dental problems before they become problems. What Are Digital X-Rays? Digital X-rays, also known as radiographs, are images of the interior of your teeth, mouth, and gums captured by a sensor placed either inside or outside of the mouth. These provide us with both more holistic and detailed pictures of your mouth’s structure that the naked eye might not be able to detect. For instance, an X-ray can allow the dentist to monitor the status of an individual tooth or a cavity when it’s just beginning. Are There Different Kinds of Digital X-Rays? There are two main types of X-rays: intraoral (inside the mouth) and extraoral (outside the mouth). However, there are also subtypes within these categories, each used to capture a slightly different view of your mouth. Don’t worry if you’re confused – we’re here to explain these as simply as possible! Intraoral X-Rays These are best at providing detailed, close-up images of your inner mouth, allowing the dentist to observe everything from the first stages of a cavity to a developing tooth. Here are some of the most common types of intraoral X-rays: Bitewing: When one of these is taken, you’ll be asked to bite down on a piece of plastic that captures a specific region of your mouth, typically showing the teeth’s visible surface to about halfway down the root and supporting bone. This technique is often used to check for cavities and allows your dentist to see how regularly the crowns of your teeth match up. Periapical: Often focusing on just one or two teeth, these X-rays show the entire tooth – from crown to bone – and are meant to detect any potential abnormalities in the root and/or bone structures. Occlusal: This X-ray is taken while your jaw is closed to see how your upper and lower rows of teeth line up, allowing the dentist to monitor the development of large sections of teeth at a time. This is commonly used in children's dentistry to detect teeth that haven’t yet broken through the child’s gums. Extraoral X-Rays Extraoral X-rays are more “big picture,” providing dentists with information about the development of your jaw and skull in addition to your teeth. Some common types of extraoral X-rays include: Panoramic: This X-ray shows the entire mouth in a single image, allowing the dentist to view the position of fully emerged, emerging, and impacted teeth. Cephalometric (“Ceph”): These depict the entire side of the head, looking at your teeth in relation to your overall jawline and profile. They’re especially useful to orthodontists, who use these images to determine what teeth realignment method will be most compatible with a patient. Why Should I Get A Digital X-Ray? Digital X-rays are a crucial diagnostic tool that allow dentists to detect potential oral health issues at their earliest stages, saving you a significant amount of time, comfort, and money in the long run. In their capability to provide both sweeping and deeply focused images of your inner mouth, they let your dentist access a depth of analysis that’s impossible to achieve via traditional X-rays or manual examination alone. Digital X-rays also have numerous benefits over traditional X-rays, including the following: Increased safety: Digital X-rays use less radiation to produce higher-quality images. Eco-friendliness: Since no chemical processing is required, digital X-rays produce less waste. Convenience: The images take up less physical space and can be easily stored, copied, and shared, enabling potentially expedited treatment and insurance reimbursements. Is It Safe To Get A Digital X-Ray? Yes! According to the American Dental Association , digital X-rays emit very low levels of radiation and dental X-ray techniques are in fact designed to minimize the body’s exposure at every point in the process – while the X-ray is being taken, you’ll be wearing a protective lead apron over your body. At Dentist of Long Beach every precaution is taken to make sure your exposure follows the “ALARA” principle – as low as reasonably achievable. How Much Does a Digital X-Ray in Long Beach, CA Cost? Digital X-rays are typically done annually.Your dental insurance plan will likely cover at least a portion of the cost, and the cost of a digital dental X-ray may already be included in your routine checkup . Over time, abrasions will weaken enamel to a point where more severe dental issues become more likely. Dental abrasions may be caused by aggressive brushing techniques, improper flossing, biting down on hard objects, or using hard-bristle brushes for cleaning your teeth. At Dentist of Long Beach, your dentist can help treat dental abrasions and improve the look of your smile. How Do Dental Abrasions Happen? Dental abrasions are only one of a handful of ways your teeth sustain exterior damage. There are three kinds of enamel wear listed below. Abrasion is physical, exterior damage to the enamel. Attrition is the natural wear caused by tooth-on-tooth friction over time. This can accelerate with routine clenching and grinding of the teeth. Erosion may occur when acids in certain medications, substances, or very acidic foods make contact with the teeth. This is also known as corrosion. Stomach acids can cause erosion with frequent contact. Bulimia, GERD, and alcoholism are common examples of conditions that lead to erosion. What Are Signs of a Dental Abrasion? Common signs of dental abrasions include tooth sensitivity to temperature, sweetness, and acidity, as well as tooth discoloration. Plaque buildup at the gumline, and tooth abfraction — a type of damage near the gumline which causes the appearance of triangle-like notches at the base of the tooth are also commonly seen with dental abrasions. --> --> Is Treatment for Dental Abrasions Necessary? While a dental abrasion isn’t as severe as tooth decay, it can leave you at serious risk of future decay as well as gum disease. Eventually, as your enamel wears down, it begins to give way to a layer of dentin. Dentin is the material that teeth are primarily comprised of. Instead of a protective shell, like enamel, dentin is softer and porous in nature. When exposed to the same wear and tear, dentin can decay and damage quite quickly. This damage can take the form of irritation of the gums, gum damage, and then overall tooth decay. At this point, you may risk losing your teeth. This is why methods of prevention and treatment for dental abrasions are a solid step in maintaining your dental hygiene. What Treatment Options Are Available for Dental Abrasions in Long Beach, CA? At Dentist of Long Beach, we treat abrasions with tooth bonding or composite bonding . The bonding material will protect the concavity in your tooth left by damage and restore a completely natural look to the tooth. If the damage to the tooth is more significant, we may consider a crown or a veneer . Once we have made sure there is no more decay in the tooth, we can then place a veneer around the exposed portion. This is a long-lasting and cosmetically appealing solution. Does Dental Insurance Cover Dental Abrasion Treatment? Because insurance policies vary from company to company, it is hard to say what coverage may look like. Cost and coverage can even vary based on the type of plan you have for the same company! At Dentist of Long Beach, we are invested in communicating with you and your insurance company to not only find out if dental abrasion treatment is possible, but what treatment cost estimates and payment plans may work for you. --> How Do I Prevent Dental Abrasions? A handful of methods exist to help prevent dental abrasions and protect your tooth enamel. At Dentist of Long Beach, we can walk through proper brushing/flossing technique, helpful fluoride-based toothpastes, and good oral habits that put your enamel at lesser risk of damage. By scheduling early with your Long Beach dentist, we can stop abrasion — or risk factors for it — early in its tracks. Treatment sooner than later can prevent major dental complications from occurring. Don’t Wait Any Longer To Restore Your Enamel! They are used to protect and restore the appearance and shape of your teeth when fillings alone won’t suffice. They are a permanent solution and don’t require speciality care long term, just your normal good dental hygiene practices. What are Dental Crowns? A dental crown or cap sits on top of a damaged or missing tooth to protect and/or restore it. Dental crowns look and act just like your natural tooth, as you are able to chew, drink and bite just as you would with your existing teeth. Sometimes dental crowns don’t merely sit on top of existing teeth like a cap but can be securely placed over a gap in your teeth with the use of a dental bridge that will connect it to two adjacent teeth. Available materials for dental crowns: Porcelain - Known for looking the most natural, porcelain is a biocompatible and inert material. It is naturally nonporous and therefore a great option for dental crowns as porcelain is highly resistant to staining and bacteria. Something to consider however is that porcelain is also heavy yet brittle and can chip or fracture when subjected to hard forces. Metal - Metal is strong and pliable and is a great option for dental crowns as they can withstand many different kinds of dental applications and hold up to wear and tear over the years. However, metal crowns can be more expensive. Porcelain Fused to Metal - Porcelain fused to metal is a traditional combination that incorporates the best of both materials. The synthesis of the two materials offers the resilience and beauty of porcelain with the malleability of metal. Acrylic - Acrylic crowns are a great economical solution, although they don’t give as natural of an appearance as porcelain and do not last as long as metal or porcelain fused to metal. They can be a great alternative for areas that are not as visible or subjected to as much biting force. What are the Benefits of Dental Crowns? Dental crowns are one of the safest and most effective ways to restore damaged teeth. They have been in use for many years and are an easy procedure to repair your smile. Dental crown benefits include: A more attractive smile that you can feel good about Stronger teeth that are less likely to develop new cavities Lessened sensitivity of teeth to extremes of hot and cold Proper teeth spacing and support for the entire bite How Do I Get Dental Crowns in Long Beach? Two visits are necessary to complete the procedure at Dentist of Long Beach. The first visit is to make impressions of the mouth and x-rays of the tooth and jaw bone to ensure the crown is an exact fit. At this point, signs of decay will be assessed and addressed. Root canal treatment may be necessary in cases of severely damaged tooth structure, or a composite filling may be used to fill in any gaps in the shape of the tooth. At your first visit you will be given a temporary crown to hold you until your next appointment. On the second visit your temporary crown will have been created specifically to your measurements and the temporary crown will be removed by the dentist and replaced with your new permanent crown. During this process, the tooth will be shaped to create the proper spacing for the crown in order to fit with your teeth and mouth structure. How Much Do Dental Crowns Cost in Long Beach, CA? If your dental crown isn’t just for appearance’s sake (that is, it’s not just a cosmetic procedure), your dental insurance may cover some or all of the cost. The total price can vary based on the materials used, with some options being more expensive than others. Get Your Healthy Smile Back! At Dentist of Long Beach, our routine cleanings and check-ups will keep your teeth healthy – and they’ll save you money in the long run by catching common dental health problems before they require costlier treatment. What Are Preventative Dental Services? Preventative dentistry is focused on providing long-term care for your teeth. It includes the daily cleaning habits you might practice on your own – such as daily brushing and flossing – as well as routine treatments at the dentist’s office. At Dentist of Long Beach, the preventative dental services we offer include: Dental cleanings (recommended every six months) Oral examinations Fluoride treatments X-rays Sealants What Are the Benefits of Dental Cleanings in Long Beach? Regular dental cleanings don’t just keep your teeth looking good – they also dramatically reduce your risk of developing cavities, gingivitis, periodontitis, oral cancer, and other serious dental conditions. At Dentist of Long Beach, we’re dedicated to thoroughly cleaning and examining your teeth with the utmost care and attention to detail. During a cleaning, our hygienists will remove the plaque – a sticky, hard-to-see coating that forms on your teeth when bacteria in your mouth mix with food particles – that normal toothbrushes and floss can’t reach. This procedure helps ward off the harmful bacteria that cause tooth decay and gum disease before they get the chance to spread further. Additionally, our examinations will keep you up-to-date on the state of your oral health and provide personalized advice about the most effective ways to take care of your teeth when you’re on your own. Can Dental Cleaning and Prevention Make My Teeth Whiter? Yes, it can! Regular cleaning will remove the buildup of plaque that makes your teeth look dulled, yellow, and stained as it accumulates. While a variety of factors – including genetics, external medical conditions, and medications – can affect your teeth’s tendency to stain, these habits will also increase the likelihood of discoloration and staining: Consumption of deeply pigmented foods and drinks, such as chocolate, coffee, wine, dark cola, and colored candies Consumption of acidic foods and drinks, such as fruit juices and tomato-based sauces Usage of cannabis and tobacco products (both smoking and chewing) How Can I Prevent Future Dental Issues? Good preventative care habits at home are the foundation of lifelong dental health! We recommend brushing teeth at least twice a day, both when you wake up and before you go to bed, as well as flossing daily. If you’re able, use an electric toothbrush – it’ll remove plaque and clean your teeth and gums more thoroughly than a regular one can. We know life gets in the way sometimes and that you can’t always maintain perfect dental hygiene habits if you’re busy or on the go. Just remember that doing the best you can is always better than nothing! Will My Insurance Pay for Preventative Dental Services in Long Beach? Your insurance will likely cover a significant amount of the cost of preventative care, if not in entirety. This is because it’s in their best interest to make sure that your teeth remain healthy and don’t require more complicated restorative treatment down the line. The price that both you and the insurance company would pay for these procedures is much more expensive than that of preventative services. Get Proactive About Your Dental Health! Once you commit to preventative dental care by combining a good home cleaning routine with regular check-ups at Dentist of Long Beach, you’ll be reaping the rewards of a healthy smile for life. You can contact our office at (562) 373-0026 to learn more about preventative dentistry or schedule an appointment. WHY CHOOSE US? Flexible Appointment Times – Including Same Day! Our dentists often recommend porcelain inlays and onlays to repair damage and restore teeth. This procedure is performed when there is decay that is not yet bad enough to warrant more invasive treatment like a crown . What is the Purpose of Porcelain Inlays and Onlays? From chewing to grinding, your teeth are under constant strain. And if your genes or health habits aren’t perfect, teeth can become weak or form cracks overtime. When these cracks don’t get the treatment they need, your teeth are subjected to tooth fractures, sensitivity and pain. If your teeth are beginning to break down, you only have a few options to repair the damage. These options include traditional fillings , and porcelain inlays and onlays. Do I Need Porcelain Onlays? Porcelain onlays can treat minor cracks in teeth before the damage requires a full crown. Onlays are built to support the crack in your tooth to prevent the damage from worsening. Our dentists use porcelain for onlays since it’s a stronger material than traditional composite resin. Are Porcelain Inlays a Better Option? A porcelain inlay is a filling made of porcelain instead of the composite resin used in traditional fillings. If you require this procedure, our Long Beach dentists create pre-molded fillings that are custom fitted into your teeth. Inlays are typically used in place of a filling before cavities have become too decayed. When You Might Need an Inlay or Onlay from a Long Beach Dentist Have you noticed any of the following dental issues? If so, contact the Dentists of Long Beach for a consultation right away. It’s time to call us if: You noticed sensitivity to heat or cold You experienced bite pressure sensitivity Your teeth have been chipping or breaking. You can see or feel a crack in your tooth You can see dark spots on your teeth You have severe and persistent pain You have been diagnosed with cracked tooth syndrome How is a Porcelain Inlay or Onlay Procedure Performed? For this type of procedure, our Dentists of Long Beach will start by numbing the area. Next, decay is removed and edges are smoothed. We will take images in order to custom fabricate your porcelain inlay or onlay. Finally, we will permanently cement the restoration to your smile. Do Porcelain Onlays and Inlays Last Forever? Porcelain onlays and inlays last much longer than traditional fillings . You can expect your inlay or onlay to last decades. The better you care for your teeth, the longer your inlays or onlays will last. To keep them in great shape, you should do the following home care : Flossing daily Brushing at least twice a day Using an electric toothbrush Remember that coming in for regular dental checkups is vitally important to ensure your dental health. Should I Get an Inlay or Onlay Procedure? Ask your dentist and they will agree--porcelain inlays or onlays are an excellent choice to repair and protect damaged teeth. Unlike dental crowns, inlays or onlays actually preserve the natural tooth and can even strengthen your tooth structure. Let Us Help You Start Smiling Again! Contact our Long Beach dental team at (562) 373-0026 for your porcelain inlay or onlay consultation. WHY CHOOSE US? Flexible Appointment Times – Including Same Day! It is a passion of ours because we know that it helps us serve our patients even better. The more informed we are on the latest dental technology in Long Beach, the more likely it is that the treatment we provide is going to be easier, faster, safer, and more comfortable for our patients than ever! Why Is Dental Technology Important? The latest dental technology is often the best. It helps us cut down on the time patients spend in the chair and helps ensure that treatment is safe and comfortable, too. The latest innovations include better products, like teeth whitening gels that cause less sensitivity or composite filling material that increases the stability and longevity of fillings. The latest dental technology in Long Beach also includes powerful tools like lasers and 3D imaging that help us provide more advanced care and better fitting restorations. What Are Some Technological Advances We Use at Dentist of Long Beach? Here are just a few of the technological innovations we implement in our dental services at Dentist of Long Beach. Air Abrasion Air abrasion is a great alternative to the old-fashioned dental drill. Air abrasion is best used on patients who want to remove staining and discoloration, as well as those who have small cavities. The air abrasion device discharges a stream of air and aluminum oxide particles. The targeted stream is aimed at the part of the tooth where there is stain or dental decay. Think of it as a mini-sandblaster. The device gently blasts away the stain and/or decay. We use a rubber dam and high-speed suction device to keep your mouth free of debris during the process. An air abrasion procedure is gentle enough that most people don’t need anesthesia, which can significantly reduce the amount of time you spend in the dental chair. Unfortunately, this technology is not ideal for patients with larger cavities. Intraoral Photos An intraoral (or inside the mouth) camera is the size of a pen. We place it in your mouth to get a better view of your teeth and soft tissues. Then, an image is captured, and we can print it out or look at it on a monitor. The intraoral camera allows us to get an up-close view of the structures of your mouth, which helps us to diagnose conditions more accurately (like a cracked tooth or oral cancer). CAD/CAM Technology In the past, whenever you needed a dental crown , we would have to take impressions and wait for a lab technician to fabricate the crown. The process took weeks – sometimes up to four to six weeks. Now, utilizing CAD/CAM technology, we can fabricate a crown while you are still in the chair, and we will try it in and cement it right then, instead of having you come back for multiple appointments. The process utilizes intraoral cameras and a computer program. The program creates the design, then sends the design to a manufacturing machine that fabricates the crown. Dental Surgical Stents Dental stents help with the placement of dental implants into the jawbone. The stent is created from a model of your mouth. It is an acrylic device with pre-drilled holes. The stent fits over your jawbone where you are missing teeth. Your surgeon is then able to place the implants into the bone in the ideal position through the holes in the stent. Ideal implant placement helps ensure implant to bone integration and proper function once we place crowns over the implants. Invisalign Ⓡ Clear Aligners We are excited to provide our patients with the latest orthodontic technology, too – including Invisalign Ⓡ clear aligners. This orthodontic system is less cumbersome and more comfortable than traditional metal braces. They are also virtually invisible, making them a great choice for teens and adults who want to straighten their smiles discreetly. Invisalign Ⓡ may also help you achieve your straighter smile goals in less time. Technology Is Always Evolving – And So Are We! There is always something new in dental technology. Some of the new tools and techniques do not fit the needs of our patients. But you can be sure that we will invest in, learn about, and implement those that do. Yet while these figures may not seem like much, these visits cost taxpayers, hospitals, and the government about $2 billion per year – and more often than not, they take the biggest bite out of the patient’s wallet. Additionally, most hospitals don’t have the facilities or staff to provide comprehensive dental care, so even if you receive antibiotics or medication to relieve pain symptoms, the root problem causing it could still persist. If you don’t receive specialized treatment, you might end up making repeated visits for the same condition – if not a worse one. ▶ " title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen=""> If you’re experiencing a dental emergency, Dentist of Long Beach is here to help you get the emergency dental care you need. We’re here to make sure that once your pain is gone, it stays gone. What is Considered a Dental Emergency? A dental emergency is a problem that requires immediate attention in order to treat severe pain or trauma to the mouth. Some of these, like a knocked-out or broken tooth, might be obvious. But even problems that might feel more inconvenient than urgent – such as unexpected bleeding, swelling, or the feeling that something’s stuck in your teeth – should receive dental care sooner rather than later. What Can You Do if a Tooth Gets Knocked Out? If you can bring the tooth in within an hour, it can most likely be saved. While transporting it, make sure to handle the tooth gently, picking it up by the crown and not the root, and keep it either in your mouth while covered in saliva (either back in its original socket or between your cheek and gums) or stored in cold milk. What Should I Do If I Get a Cracked, Chipped, or Broken Tooth? The right treatment for a broken tooth depends on the extent of the damage, so you should contact us immediately to determine proper treatment. If only the exterior enamel is chipped and none of the dental pulp is infected, the tooth can usually be repaired and cosmetic damage fixed with a filling and/or crown . However, more severe cases might require more intensive procedures such as a root canal . What Should I Do If My Mouth is Painful, Bleeding, or Swelling? Excessive and/or recurring pain in the mouth is often a sign of a serious infection that requires further treatment. You should contact us to determine exactly what you need. What Can You Do If My Braces Get Broken? Visit us immediately if a braces bracket comes off and needs to be reattached or if a broken and/or protruding wire is hurting the inside of your mouth and requires clipping and/or realignment. Before coming to see us, you can also use some orthodontic wax to temporarily relieve discomfort and protect your mouth from further damage. What Can You Do If Something Gets Caught or Stuck in My Teeth? If a foreign object is stuck in the teeth, such as food or even a small toy, you should come in for an appointment to make sure the item is removed by one of our qualified dentists. What Does It Cost To Get Emergency Dental Treatment? Most of the time, dental insurance will cover some (if not all) of the costs of a dental emergency. But even if you don’t have insurance, we’ll work with you to create a flexible financing plan to make sure you can both receive and afford the care you need. Remember, you’ll actually be saving money in the long run when you get a dental emergency treated properly and as soon as possible! Investing in your dental health right now is invaluable, and you don’t want to wait until a problem becomes more severe – and more expensive – before seeking treatment. How Can I Prevent Dental Emergencies From Happening Again? You can easily prevent most dental emergencies or at least lessen their severity by taking some simple steps to maintain your dental health. Here’s what you can do: Stay up to date with your routine dental exams and cleanings – make sure you’re visiting us at least twice a year! When participating in sports that involve potential impact with other players, make sure you’re taking precautions to protect your teeth by wearing appropriate gear such as helmets and mouthguards. Avoid grinding and/or straining your teeth and try to refrain from chewing hard objects, such as pens, toys, ice, tough candies, etc. Limit your consumption of especially acidic or sugary foods in order to protect your tooth and tags on every page of your site. --> Oral Surgery Long Beach CA - Oral Surgeon Long Beach CA Home Our Office Our Doctors Dr. Omid --> Dr. Hamid Specialists Dr. Ghalambor Dr. Pruss Our Technology Technology 3D Imaging Digital X-rays Patient Resources New Patients First Visit Why Choose Us? While it can be anxiety-inducing to discover you may need oral surgery, remember that oral surgeons are some of the most highly trained specialists and usually recommended by your trusted dentist. At Dentist of Long Beach, you’ll get quality care, customer service and consistency throughout the entire process. When is Oral Surgery Necessary? If oral surgery is recommended for you, don’t panic! It doesn’t mean your issue is particularly challenging or serious, it simply means oral surgery is the absolute best option to alleviate the pain and discomfort you’re experiencing. Common reasons your doctor may recommend oral surgery include: Dental implants Teeth Extractions Impacted Teeth Reconstruction After Injury Sleep Apnea & Breathing Issues Oral Cancer Biopsies Jaw Misalignment & Pain Bone Grafting Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ) Can My Dentist Perform Oral Surgery? Whether it is convenience, comfort or another reason, it’s common for patients to want their general dentist handling any oral surgeries that may arise. General dentists can and will carry out procedures such as root canals, tooth extractions and dental implants, if possible, but will let you know when your oral treatment needs fall outside of their capabilities and expertise. Our general dentists and oral surgeons in Long Beach work in tandem to provide you with a complete treatment plan you’ll be satisfied with. What Should I Expect at My Oral Surgery Consultation? Before any surgery, it is important that oral surgeons take the time to discuss your medical history. We want to know the medications you’re currently taking, any allergies you may have and any prior surgeries that may impact your upcoming surgery. With that information, an evaluation, diagnosis and treatment plan will be created for you. Am I Required to Be Under Anesthesia? If you have worries, questions or concerns about the use of anesthesia during a procedure, your consultation is the perfect time to let your feelings be known. The oral surgeon may be able to use a local anesthesia so you are numb, yet awake. Conversely, if you want to be completely sedated , ask for that option. How Do I Prepare for Oral Surgery in Long Beach,CA? Along with following your surgeon’s directions, here are a few things to keep in mind on the day of your procedure: Clean and organize your space so you can comfortably rest for a few days. If necessary, arrange your bed so you can incline easily. Arrange transportation home if using general anesthesia as you will not be allowed to drive. What Should I Expect After Oral Surgery? After oral surgery you can expect to feel some swelling, pain, bleeding and discomfort. Pick up any prescribed medications to manage pain and rest as much as possible to help alleviate these symptoms. What Will Oral Surgery Recovery Look Like? Taking the utmost care of your mouth and facial structures by heeding all surgeon instructions will ensure you have the best outcome possible. It is important to be patient with yourself as you follow common dos and don’ts during your recovery: Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol. Rinse your mouth with saltwater instead of brushing your teeth to stave off bacteria. Don’t use straws. Eat soft foods – no chewy, crunchy or hard food. Avoid exercise and other vigorous activity. Always contact your oral surgeon with any questions or concerns you may have – we are here before, during and after your procedure. Start Restoring Your Oral Health Today at Dentist of Long Beach! Using the latest techniques, your dentist can help you get the beautiful smile you want at a fraction of the cost with dental bonding in Long Beach. What Is Dental Bonding? Bonding utilizes the same material we use in dental fillings to repair aesthetic issues with the teeth. Because the bonding material comes in a variety of shades, we can mix and match to find the ideal color to match the natural shade of your teeth. When your Long Beach dentist finishes the procedure, your bonding will look and feel like your natural teeth. What Are the Benefits of Dental Bonding in Long Beach? Bonding is also known as “chairside veneers.” We use the soft composite resin to repair chips and cracks in the teeth, as well as gaps between the teeth and minor crookedness. Dental bonding can also be used to cover stubborn stains. By treating or correcting teeth with minor damage, we can help prevent further damage that can result in the need for costly dental treatments, such as crowns and root canals. Using the latest techniques, we can give you a brighter, beautiful, and even straighter smile without removing much of your natural tooth structure and at a fraction of the cost of porcelain veneers. FAQs: What Our Patients Want to Know About Dental Bonding Here are just a few of the questions we get from patients about dental bonding in Long Beach. How Long Does Bonding Last? On average, dental bonding lasts between five and 10 years. However, some patients have preserved their dental work even longer with: Good dental hygiene at home Regular dental cleanings and check-ups Avoiding chewing on hard candies/objects Why Can’t I Just Bleach My Teeth? You may wonder why your Long Beach cosmetic dentist recommends dental bonding instead of teeth whitening. In many cases, teeth whitening works wonders. However, there are some situations in which stains are more stubborn. They may be deep in the cracks and crevices of the teeth – or sometimes it’s the inside of the tooth that’s stained. If this is the case, the fastest, most comfortable, and more affordable option is dental bonding. How Much Does Dental Bonding Cost? Dental Bonding is one of the most affordable cosmetic solutions. The total cost will depend on how many teeth need treatment and your dental insurance coverage. If you have dental insurance, they may cover some of the cost – or even all of it. Talk to our team to get an accurate estimate of your co-payment. Dentist of Long Beach offers affordable payment plans to make it easier to cover your portion. Should You Invest in Dental Bonding in Long Beach? If you have teeth that are cracked, chipped, or discolored, dental bonding is the answer. It’s a fraction of the cost of porcelain veneers yet can give you the smile of your dreams. We highly recommend it for patients that want to restore their smile quickly and affordably. You’re not alone. In fact, according to one study , 61% of people suffer from dental fear, and almost 4% have never been to a dentist. At Dentist of Long Beach, our experts are here to help make that fear disappear. With a variety of dental sedation options, we can help you relax during your appointment, while also easing your pain. What is Dental Sedation? Dental sedation, also known as “sleep dentistry”, is a method of using sedation to keep a patient relaxed during a dental procedure. At Dentist of Long Beach, we specialize in conscious sedation, twilight sedation, and unconscious sedation, each offering a different level of sedation. What is Conscious Sedation? During conscious sedation, you will remain awake during your appointment. This method will relax you while easing any pain. Some types of conscious sedation include nitrous oxide or laughing gas, anesthesia, and oral medication. This method is often used for patients undergoing routine cleanings, dental fillings and root canals . What is Twilight Sedation? Twilight sedation does what its name implies: it puts you into a semi-lucid twilight state. You will feel very relaxed during twilight sedation, almost like you are dreaming. Your memory of the experience might be fuzzy after your appointment. This type of sedation is accomplished using IV or nitrous oxide. What Is Unconscious Sedation? Unconscious sedation is also known as general anesthesia. This type of sedation completely puts you to sleep, so you are not awake during dental treatment or surgery . Unconscious sedation is usually administered through an IV or a breathing mask. What Is Oral Sedation? Unconscious sedation, also known as general anesthesia, is the highest level of sedation that we offer. This technique will fully put you asleep during your appointment and is generally administered through IV or a breathing mask. What is Oral Sedation? Oral sedation is offered in the form of medication taken by the mouth. These usually include benzodiazepines meant to help you relax, such as Valium or Ativan. What is Nitrous Oxide? Nitrous Oxide is also known as laughing gas. This treatment is well-established and is a fast-acting measure to help you relax during your appointment. What Can I Expect When I Get Dental Sedation in Long Beach? Each sedation technique is administered differently. The intensity and how quickly the sedation will kick in depends on the specific technique. Our experts will explain the process and answer any questions you may have. Be sure to have someone to drive you home from your dental appointment any time you are undergoing any type of sedation process that can cause drowsiness. What Does Dental Sedation Cost? The cost of dental sedation depends on what sedation method is used. Certain sedation options, such as IV treatment, can add a cost to your procedure, but dental insurance may help with the expense. Our friendly team will go over all costs with you before we perform any services. Sedation Dentistry in Long Beach, CA Let us help us make your next checkup a breeze. Our oral surgeons have a few thoughts on the matter. What are Wisdom Teeth? Located on the upper and lower jaw gum lines, wisdom teeth are the molars far in the back of your mouth. They don’t grow at the same time as your other teeth, lying in wait until the ages of 17-25 to push through the gum line and join the others. Removing wisdom teeth isn’t always necessary, but most of the time when they erupt from the gum line, they can have a detrimental effect on your overall oral health. Is Wisdom Teeth Removal Necessary If Nothing is Wrong? Even if your wisdom teeth aren’t causing pain or problems right now, they can in the future. The longer you keep your wisdom teeth, their potential to cause you harm increases and the removal process becomes harder. If you experience jaw pain and swelling, contact your dentist or call us today as these issues may be early indicators that wisdom teeth problems could be headed your way. How Can Wisdom Teeth Impact My Oral Health? Although most people have wisdom teeth, very few people have wisdom teeth that are actually helpful or grow in properly. Serious issues such as a change in your bite can occur, along with other problems including: Infection and Gum Disease Wisdom teeth may only partly grow, trapping food and bacteria, resulting in gum disease and cavities. Partially erupted teeth or those that are impacted can develop pericoronitis, an infection that will require tooth extraction. Tooth Decay Wisdom teeth reduce oral health purely because of their location. They are nearly impossible for most people to keep clean, making them susceptible to decay. Tumors and Cysts Impacted wisdom teeth can transform into tumors or cysts, causing widespread damage to bones and teeth in the area. When Should I Have My Wisdom Teeth Removed? There is no standard time to have your wisdom teeth removed. A dentist or oral surgeon will determine the best time for removal taking these factors into account: Position of Wisdom Teeth: If your wisdom teeth grow in unhealthy positions, root complications, infections and decay can cause problems. Patient Age: Most oral surgeons agree that it’s better to have your wisdom teeth removed when you’re younger. This is because the chances of wisdom teeth causing complications are lower when patients are younger. If your dentist recommends wisdom tooth removal, don’t wait too long to take action. Root Formation: If your wisdom teeth have attained two-thirds of root formation, the chances of complications with removal increase. If the roots are only one-third formed, it is a perfect time to talk to your dentist about getting them removed. What is the Wisdom Teeth Removal Process? The first step is a consultation where we will determine why your wisdom teeth need to be removed and discuss the procedure with you. This is a time to ask questions and give your oral surgeon your complete medical history for best results. Our oral surgeons will perform either a simple extraction or surgical extraction based on your needs. No matter which procedure is needed, we prioritize your comfort, convenience and safety. What Will Recovery Look Like After Wisdom Tooth Removal? You will not be down and out for long after wisdom tooth removal. You will experience swelling and soreness in the beginning – over the counter medication can help as well as any prescribed medications to prevent infection. Attentive care to heal properly and avoid complications are important. Please contact us immediately if something doesn’t feel right. We are here to optimize your healing and oral health. Why Choose Dentist of Long Beach Choosing a new dentist is not an easy decision to make. There are so many things to consider, such as financing options, the scope of dental services, and how you feel in the office. At Dentist of Long Beach, we understand what a big decision this is and want to put your mind at ease about why choosing us is a great choice. What Sets Dentist of Long Beach Apart Why should you trust us with your family’s oral health? Here are just a few important reasons. An Appreciation for Innovation We don’t just want a state-of-the-art dental practice because it looks cool. We want it because it helps us serve our patients better. When we stay up to date on the latest dental technology , we’re able to: Reduce treatment time Increase patient comfort Create longer-lasting, better fitting dental restorations The Scope of Dental Services A lot of dentists focus on one or two specialties. Your Long Beach dentist focuses on four. Preventative and diagnostic: One of our main goals is to help prevent dental disease. We do this by offering preventative treatments like professional cleanings , which can help reduce your risk of dental decay and gum disease . A good diagnostic program and diagnostic tools help your Long Beach cosmetic dentist find issues early, saving you time, money, and discomfort. Restorative: If you do end up with dental decay, a cracked tooth, or tooth loss – we can help with that, too. We can restore your teeth with beautiful restorations like dental crowns , composite fillings , dental bridges , and dentures . Cosmetic: In addition to focusing on maintaining your oral health, we also want you to love your smile. That is why we offer cosmetic treatments such as porcelain veneers , composite bonding , teeth whitening , and dental implants . Orthodontics: Orthodontic treatments serve two needs. They help you achieve a straighter, more beautiful smile and they help your teeth and jaw joints to function optimally, which can protect your dentition and prevent tooth and jaw pain down the road. Flexible Financing Financing treatment can feel like a daunting task – even if you have insurance. Whether you’re paying 100 percent out of pocket or get a bit of help from a dental insurance company, we can help you find ways to make paying dental bills even easier. Our team will work with your insurance company to provide you with an accurate cost/co-payment estimate. Then, we’ll work with you to create a payment plan that works with your budget, including offering information about outside financing options. Insurance Options There are many dentists who only accept a handful of dental insurance providers. We want to make your life as easy as possible, which is why we accept all PPO insurance options. Instead, you’ll find that we’ll create a custom treatment plan that is based on your unique needs, as well as your desires. To do this, we must be excellent listeners. If your teeth aren’t as straight and attractive as you’d like, though, that can really put a damper on your mood. Visit Dentist of Long Beach today to begin the journey to achieve your new, straighter smile with braces. What Are Traditional Metal Braces? Traditional or metal braces use brackets that our orthodontist will carefully place on your teeth with non-toxic adhesive. Other components, such as archwires and elastic bands will be added to adjust and straighten your teeth throughout your treatment plan. We use only the best components made of USA titanium for our braces and we fit them precisely for your teeth specifications. For additional personalized touches, you may choose to have brackets and elastics in a wide range of colors to match your personal taste. What Are the Benefits of Traditional Metal Braces? Metal braces in Long Beach offer our patients many positive benefits, including lower cost, easy care and personalization. Are Metal Braces Durable? Metal braces are one of the longest lasting, most durable orthodontic treatment options because they are made of strong titanium. Do Metal Braces Work For Overcrowded Mouths And Gaps Alike? Traditional braces are the fastest method of correction for misaligned teeth. They work with overcrowded mouths, gaps and other considerations, with the assistance of other treatment components. How Long Do You Wear Metal Braces? The length of time you need to wear traditional braces will vary from person to person, depending on personal oral care needs. If you have widely spaced teeth, for example, the time required for correction will be different from that of someone who has an overbite or crowded mouth. Generally speaking, however, most patients wear traditional braces between one and two years for correcting the most common teeth misalignment concerns. What Do Traditional Braces Cost? Traditional braces are often chosen because they generally are the least expensive form of correction available to orthodontic patients. The cost will, however, vary from person to person, depending on Age Type of correction needed Other treatments required in conjunction with braces Personalized factors Many insurance companies cover some portion of these costs. At Dentist of Long Beach, we will happily work with you and your insurance company to create the right payment plan for your treatment. What Does The Process For Having Traditional Metal Braces Placed Look Like? When you’re ready to come in for your orthodontic consultation here at Dentist of Long Beach, we’ll give you an examination, take x-rays and thoroughly discuss your potential treatment plans and payment options. For these plans, we’ll take into consideration a number of things including your insurance coverage, your particular orthodontic needs and other details that help us make the treatment affordable. Next, you’ll come in for your braces placement appointment. This appointment will take longer than those in the future because of the installation process. During this installation you’ll: Have a teeth cleaning Have the surface of your teeth prepared for the braces Have brackets placed and cemented onto your teeth with non-toxic adhesive Have wires and elastics placed After your placement appointment, we’ll see you again for periodic adjustments and checkups as well as any additional care you may need along the way. A huge part of having healthy teeth and gums is regularly visiting a dentist. If you’re in Long Beach and need high-quality, family dentistry, look no further than Dentist of Long Beach. Why Choose a Family Dentist in Long Beach? Having a family dentist is convenient because your entire family can visit the same dentist. Going to one dentist allows you to schedule everyone’s appointments on the same day, saving you time and money. It also allows you to build a lifelong relationship with a dentist your family trusts. As your kids get older, they’ll be comfortable going to the dentist since they’ve seen the same person since they were toddlers. By setting up regular appointments with a family dentist every year, you’ll establish a healthy oral hygiene habit within your children. What’s the Difference Between Family Dentistry and Children's Dentistry? Children's dentistry focuses on children. This area of dentistry requires an extra two to three years of specialized training, in addition to general dental training. Their additional learning provides a thorough understanding of the behavior and unique dental needs of children. Family dentistry, on the other hand, is considered general dentistry. This field requires a bachelor’s degree plus four years of dental school, allowing them to provide dental care for both adults and children. When Should I Start Taking My Child to the Dentist? Your child should attend their first dental appointment by the time they reach their first birthday. This initial visit is to get your child used to visiting the dentist and educating you on how to care for their primary teeth—also known as baby teeth. How Often Should My Child Visit the Dentist? After their first visit, you generally have one year between ages one and two to skip dental visits. However, that only applies if your child isn’t using a bottle any longer and doesn’t snack in the middle of the night, two things that can cause significant damage to their primary teeth. Once they’re two years old, you can plan on scheduling cleanings and check-ups every six months. Then, between ages four and six, you can expect them to have their first x-rays. If Primary Teeth are Temporary, Do Kids Still Need to See a Dentist? Although primary teeth are temporary, the impact they have on your child’s oral development can’t be understated. Your child’s baby teeth are the foundation for their adult teeth because they create space for them to grow. If children experience tooth loss before their permanent teeth grow, it can lead to crowding or crooked teeth. In addition to that, primary teeth help babies and young children learn to chew, smile, and talk. Are Dental X-Rays Safe for My Family? Dental x-rays are crucial for detecting early and unseen signs of decay and disease. On that note, we know that radiation exposure is a concern for many parents. However, you should know there have been numerous advancements in x-ray technology over the years, significantly reducing the risk of radiation exposure. At Dentist of Long Beach, we’re constantly keeping up with these developments so we can provide the safest x-ray and imaging technology to your family. Is Fluoride Safe for My Family? Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that exists in water and soil. The American Dental Association recommends using fluoride toothpaste because it bonds with other minerals found in the enamel of teeth, helping to strengthen it. Fluoride toothpaste is entirely safe for your family, even babies, and toddlers. We recommend using it as soon as your child’s teeth begin to come in. That, in turn, helps them catch dental issues early. Other types of 3D imaging technology in Long Beach help them provide exceptional dental care, including crowns and bridges that fit so well they help reduce the risk of sore teeth, malocclusion, and recurrent dental decay. Types of 3D Imaging Technology Used at Dentist of Long Beach We periodically update the technology we use as newer products come on the market, and this helps us serve our patients even better. Here are a few of the 3D imaging technology options your Long Beach dentist currently uses. Digital X-Rays Digital dental x-rays allow your dentist to see parts of the tooth they can’t see when they do an oral examination. These include: All layers of the teeth (enamel, dentin, and pulp or nerve) In between the teeth The roots of the teeth The bone surrounding the roots With regular x-rays, your dentist can monitor your oral health and help catch dental diseases in the earliest stages. The earlier we catch them, the less complex procedures you’ll need and the less discomfort you’ll experience. Panoramic X-Rays A panoramic x-ray is a type of digital x-ray that captures a 3D image of your upper and lower jaw bones and teeth. Your dentist can even see your sinuses. The rotating machine travels around your head, from side to side, taking the image. Panoramic x-rays can be useful for treatments such as: Dental implants Extractions Wisdom teeth extractions Diagnoses (cysts, tumors) Malocclusion Dental CT Scan Computed tomography (CT or CAT) scan provides one of the most accurate 3D images of your mouth. It is an essential tool for surgical procedures, like implant placement and bone grafts. The scan takes images of your head and neck from a variety of angles, which provides your Long Beach dentist with a good view of your sinuses, nerves, and jawbone – all of which are important for determining whether someone is a good candidate for dental implants. This type of 3D imaging technology in Long Beach can also provide your orthodontist with the information they need to create cephalometric projections. With the information provided in the CT scan, your orthodontist can see how your skull relates to your teeth and jawbones. Based on that, they can determine which methods will work best for your needs to achieve optimal occlusion and a beautiful, straight smile. Digital Intraoral Scanners Your Long Beach dentist utilizes two types of digital scanners. TRIOS Intraoral Scanner: This scanner takes pictures intraorally and transmits them to a computer. We can send these images to your insurance company, a dental specialist or doctor, or a dental lab. The 3D image that’s created helps us create dental restorations that fit accurately, reducing your risk of a high bite or recurrent decay. We can also use this scanner (and the iTero scanner) to aid in the fabrication of Invisalign® clear aligners. iTero Digital Scanner: This type of 3D imaging technology in Long Beach creates a 3D image of your teeth so we can get a better view of teeth that need to be restored with crowns , bridges , or dental implants . It’s an essential part of our “crowns in a day” system. We Will Always Be on the Cutting Edge of Technology If you’ve already visited our state-of-the-art Long Beach dental practice, you know we love tech! We know that by utilizing the latest and greatest dental technology we serve you better. Technology helps us keep appointment times to a minimum and makes those appointments much more comfortable and efficient. Dental bridges are false teeth, often made from porcelain or other materials that are procedurally affixed to your existing teeth on either side of a tooth gap. Hence the name, bridges. Dental bridges at Long Beach look very natural and are a phenomenal cosmetic and functional solution to missing teeth. Why Choose a Fixed Bridge? Missing teeth can be harmful to your overall oral health, and to that end, fixed bridges are the most convenient treatment. Dentures, partial or full, must be taken out every night and steeped in a special cleaning solution. With dental bridges, you only need to routinely brush as you would the rest of your teeth. Leaving your mouth with missing teeth can have a profound negative impact on your gum health, bite and jaw, and encourage malocclusions — misalignment and spacing problems. Do I Have Different Options for Fixed Dental Bridges? Dentist of Long Beach offers three types of fixed dental bridges. Traditional Bridges - this kind of bridge is anchored by two dental crowns on the surrounding teeth. Maryland Bonded Bridge - instead of a crown or veneer affixed to surrounding teeth, this bridge uses metal or porcelain wings attached to the back of the neighboring teeth. Cantilever Bridge - this bridge uses only one adjacent tooth to secure the bridge instead of both surrounding teeth. This is comparable to a half-bridge. Are Fixed Dental Bridges Comfortable? The comfort level of a fixed bridge is a common concern among clients. Many people actually find themselves upgrading to dental bridges after finding dentures uncomfortable. In short, fixed bridges are a comfortable solution to replace missing teeth — once they are in, you can hardly tell the difference between your real teeth and your new ones! Are Dental Bridges Durable? Dental bridges can last from five to fifteen years. The better you treat your teeth, the longer they will last. Some behaviors will hasten the degradation of your teeth, for example routinely chewing on hard objects or grinding your teeth. What is the Procedure for Getting a Dental Bridge? When you visit us at Dentist of Long Beach, our first step will be to conduct an X-ray on your teeth. With digital imaging and information provided by your tooth structure, we can assess if a dental bridge is right for you. While your fixed dental bridge is being created, a temporary bridge will be supplied. Are There Any Aftercare Instructions for Dental Bridges? After your bridge is secured, you will be able to use your new teeth almost immediately! Recovery lasts about one or two weeks, during which time you may feel tenderness and some pain. This may be managed by common pain medication. How Much Do Dental Bridges Cost? Dental insurance coverage may help to mitigate the cost, though the details of your plan may impact the exact amount that is covered. Other price factors will include your needs as a patient and the materials used in the bridge (metal or porcelain). Our friendly staff at Dentist of Long Beach can also work with you to develop a payment plan. Bridge the Gap Today with Dental Bridges in Long Beach! First, we’d like to say congratulations! This is such an exciting time, but preparing for your baby can also get hectic. With so much to prepare for, one of the last things on your mind might be your oral hygiene—which is totally understandable! However, that doesn’t mean it’s any less important. In fact, it’s more important now than ever before. Maintaining good dental health during this time isn’t only good for you, it’s also good for your baby! Our Dentist of Long Beach team is here to provide you with the best dental care during pregnancy. Why Prenatal Dental Care Matters When you learn what to expect when you’re expecting, there’s a good chance you haven’t learned about the importance of keeping up with good oral hygiene. It may seem insignificant, and with everything you have to prepare for, that’s totally understandable. Still, it’s a common misconception that you shouldn’t overlook. Hormonal changes in your body and changes in your diet can increase your risk of developing gingivitis. Gingivitis is a mild form of gum disease that causes redness, inflammation, and bleeding, and if left unnoticed and untreated, it can transform into periodontal disease. How Can Periodontal Disease Affect Pregnancy? While early stages of gum disease like gingivitis primarily affect the gums—and can be treated easier—periodontal disease puts you at risk of tooth loss. In addition, the decay and inflammation caused by periodontal disease are caused by bacteria in the mouth and can potentially affect your baby. These harmful bacteria can lead to low birth weights in some babies and even premature birth. Why Does My Chance of Getting Cavities Increase During Pregnancy? The influx of hormones you experience during pregnancy can leave you indulging in sugary snacks more often than usual. Unfortunately, these foods and drinks aggressively fuel bacteria in the mouth, leading to more plaque build-up. While this is entirely normal, it makes good oral hygiene all the more critical. Are There Other Oral Health Conditions That Can Impact My Pregnancy? An increased sweet tooth isn’t the only thing that can increase your risk of cavities during pregnancy. Vomiting is another common occurrence that can harm your teeth. That’s because the acidity wears down the enamel, making teeth more susceptible to decay. Besides an increased likelihood of cavities, pregnant women can develop pyogenic granuloma. This disease creates small, raised, red bumps on the gums caused by the fluctuation of hormones. Visiting the Dentist of Long Beach for routine exams and cleanings can help prevent changes like this and address them effectively. How Should I Care for My Teeth While Pregnant? Twice-daily brushing and flossing are the standards for everyone to maintain good oral health, but it’s even more important during pregnancy. Since harmful bacteria can reach your baby, you must keep up with this habit. However, it’s not the risk of bacteria and plaque build-up that are the only things affecting your dental health. The hormonal changes you face throughout your pregnancy can lead to more significant problems. That’s why attending routine cleanings and exams at the Dentist of Long Beach is crucial for your prenatal health. Our team of dentists is experienced with prenatal dental care and will check your teeth and gums for signs of decay or disease. We can identify potential issues and properly treat and prevent them. Make prenatal dental care a priority so you—and your baby—can enjoy a happy, healthy pregnancy.
