It's simple. Once you have selected and purchased one of our publishing packages, email your manuscript to us at [email protected]. A member of our team will contact you within 24 hours and ask you to confirm your book's details, i.e. author name, title, synopsis, etc. You can also provide ideas or your own images for the cover or let our designers create one based on your book's synopsis. Once we receive your book's information, we will get to work on preparing a draft version for you. This includes the interior of your book, plus the front and back covers. We will email this draft to you and, once we have received your approval, we will guide you through setting up an easy-to-use publishing account from which you can control all elements of your book, including its pricing, royalty payments and availability. Your publishing account comes complete with customer support provided by Amazon. ​ You retain full rights to your book. We will add a copyright page to your book naming you as the copyright holder under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. ​ You will get paid directly by Amazon, on a monthly basis. It includes making your book available as an e-book and as a print-on-demand paperback available on Amazon and with Barnes & Noble. What happens after I have chosen a publishing package? After you choose a publishing package, here’s what happens next: Send Your Manuscript: Simply email your manuscript to [email protected] Initial Contact: A team member will reach out within 24 hours to confirm your book’s details—such as the title, author name, and synopsis—and discuss any cover ideas. Draft Preparation: We get to work formatting your book and creating a draft version, including your cover design. Approval & Publishing: Once you approve the draft, we will guide you through setting up your publishing account, allowing you to manage pricing, track sales, and control your royalties. We publish everything. ​ From fiction to non-fiction, including novels, screenplays, graphic novels, biographies, educational books, poetry, short stories, self-help books, business books and medical books. Do I need to have my book proofread? No, there is no need for you to have your book proofread before you submit it for publication with us. Does Dizzy Emu design a cover for my book? Yes, all of our packages include full cover design. ​ We can design a cover based on your synopsis. You are also welcome to tell us your ideas and to submit your own images if you wish. How much should I sell my book for? This is up to you and there is no right or wrong answer. ​ For e-books, you will receive 70% of the sale price if you price it between $2.99 and $9.99. If you price it lower or higher than this range then you will receive 30% of the sale price. ​ For paperbacks and hardbacks, you will need to take into account the cost of printing the book. A fifty page screenplay will cost a lot less to print than a one-thousand page novel. You will receive your book price minus the print production cost and Amazon's commission. As a general guide, most authors earn approximately half of the book's total price. ​ You can change your book's price quickly and easily via your publishing account to help you find the perfect price. Can I order copies of my own book? Yes, you can. ​ Orders are fulfilled by Amazon and they will print and post your book to you within a couple of days. All books are printed on demand. That means if you only want one copy, you only need to order one copy. What's more, you can order your book at a discounted price directly from your publishing account. Most authors can get a copy of their book for about three dollars per book. How do I track sales of my book? When you purchase a publishing package, we guide you through the set up of your own publishing account with Amazon. From your account you are able to access up-to-the-minute sales reports for e-books, paperbacks and hardbacks sold on Amazon and via Barnes & Noble. ​ Your publishing account is easy to use and comes with full customer support provided directly by Amazon. How do I get paid? You will get paid royalties from your book sales directly from Amazon. ​ Payments are made on a monthly basis directly to your bank account. You can add your details safely and securely to your publishing account. Dizzy Emu does not need to see your details and will not have access to your publishing account. Do I retain the rights to my book? Yes, you retain the full rights to your book. ​ We will add a copyright page to your book which states that you are the copyright holder under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Can I make changes to my book after it has been published? You stay in complete control of your book and can make any number of changes to it, quickly and easily. If you want to change the interior of the book because you spotted an error, change the cover, tweak the synopsis, change the price or remove it from sale then you can do so from your publishing account. ​ However, if you need us to make the the changes for you then you will need to raise a change request via our resubmission page - dizzyemupublishing.com/resubmission. As this means a lot of the publishing work needs to be redone, there is a flat fee of $30.00. How can I promote my book? For authors, learning how to promote your book for free or as cheaply as possible is one of the most challenging tasks.
