Find your bus stop location where you will be catching the bus. Look at the time schedule to figure out what time you will need to wait for your bus. If the stop is noted by the letter “R” (stands for Request Stop) on the schedule, you will need to call El Dorado Transit on the same day at least one (1) hour or more before the bus is due in the area to schedule your pick-up. If you cannot determine how to plan your trip using the map, please call our friendly staff at 530-642-5383. Bus locator map is available at https://eldorado.routematch.io/fixedroute/ . Second: The Bus Stop We recommend that you be at your bus stop at least three (3) minutes early so that you do not miss your bus. As your bus approaches, please stand near the bus stop sign or bus shelter in view of the bus operator. If it is dark, you may consider using a light to ensure that the driver sees you. Third: Your Bus Each bus displays its route number/destination on a sign located above the windshield. If you are unsure if the bus serves your destination, feel free to ask the bus operator, they are very helpful! Fourth: Boarding the Bus Wait for passengers to exit before attempting to enter the bus. If the bus is running a few minutes behind schedule and you need to transfer to another bus, notify the driver; they may be able to help. If all seats are taken, stand behind the white line and hold on to the railings while the bus is moving. As a courtesy to other passengers, please store personal belongings under your seat or in overhead racks (if available) rather then on the seat next to you so that seats are available for other riders. Fifth: Getting Off the Bus All stops are announced on the bus. On local routes, when you are within one block of your destination, signal the driver using the pull-cable switch. If on a Commuter route, the bus will stop at all stops and the bus operator will look to see if anyone is walking forward to get off the bus. When deboarding, please watch your step, especially when it is wet or icy outside! Passenger Rules El Dorado Transit provides modern bus transportation by fixed route, demand response, and commuter route modes. While riding on El Dorado Transit, please observe the following rules: No smoking, eating, or drinking No behavior creating a nuisance for driver or others No animals, except service animals Standing is permitted only when seats are not available Show pass or pay fare when boarding Keep the aisle clear of any items that might restrict access for passengers No unsafe behavior in or around El Dorado Transit buses or bus stops Click this link for Safety Tips while utilizing El Dorado Transit Download the Passenger Code of Conduct here Accessibility – Recommended Practices for Safely Riding EDT Services Wheelchairs All El Dorado Transit vehicles are wheelchair accessible. To ensure the safety of our passengers, wheelchairs should be fitted with working brakes, and motorized wheelchairs must be turned off while on-board the lift. Wheelchairs must be secured in the vehicle with tie downs and all passengers should use a seat belt. Driver will not take wheelchairs over steps. Stop Announcements Stop names are announced on all Fixed Route and Commuter service vehicles. Bikes All El Dorado Transit vehicles are equipped with bike racks. Just ride to your stop and hop on! What is a service animal? A service animal is a guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. An individual may have more than one service animal. An El Dorado Transit representative may ask (1) if the animal is a service animal required because of disability and (2) what task the animal has been trained to perform. However, a service animal requires no special tag, identification, certification, papers, harness, vest, cape, or pass. A service animal must always be under the control of the handler. A service animal must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the person’s disability prevents use of these devices. In that case, the person must use voice, signal, or other effective means to maintain control of the animal. El Dorado Transit may refuse to transport service animals that are deemed to pose a direct threat to the health or safety of drivers or other riders, create a seriously disruptive atmosphere, or are otherwise not under a passenger’s control. Fixed route, dial-a-ride and paratransit services provide mobility in the communities of Pollock Pines, Camino, Placerville, Diamond Springs, El Dorado, Shingle Springs, Cameron Park and El Dorado Hills. Commuter trips connect El Dorado County to Folsom and Sacramento. The Connector route, in association with Capitol Corridor and Amtrak, links Sacramento with western El Dorado County and South Lake Tahoe. Established in 1975, El Dorado Transit initially served seniors and persons with disabilities in the greater Placerville area. Public transit service became available to the general public in July 1980, with a combination of fixed-route deviation and demand-response services. El Dorado Transit Local Routes connecting the communities of Pollock Pines, Camino, Placerville, El Dorado, Diamond Springs, Cameron Park and Shingle Springs. Commuter Commuter routes run Monday through Friday from El Dorado County into downtown Sacramento corridor. Starting at the Placerville Station Park and Ride lot on Mosquito Road commuter routes pick up passengers at the Ray Lawyer Drive Park and Ride, Central Transit facility, Ponderosa exit/Wild Chaparral Park and Ride, Cambridge Rd Park and Ride and the El Dorado Hills Park and Ride lot. Dial-a-Ride This is a shared ride, curb-to-curb service for the public with schedule priority given to seniors and persons with disabilities. Rides are scheduled up to three days in advance and the fare is $3.00 per one way. Sac-Med Two days a week SAC-MED buses transport passengers between park and ride lots and medical-related appointments in Sacramento County. The fare is $10.00 one-way. SAC-MED only operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays for medical appointments in the greater Sacramento area made between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Registration Process and Application Complete and return the Dial-A-Ride or ADA application to the El Dorado Transit office. Dial-A-Ride Application PDF ADA Complementary Application Form Making a Reservation SAC-MED rides must be scheduled at least four (4) but no more than fourteen (14) business days in advance by calling (530) 642-3696 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. If passengers need assistance, they must provide a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) and include such information when making the reservation. You will receive a confirmation call back by 5:00 pm the day before your scheduled trip to specify the exact pickup location and time. Pickup and Drop Off Locations SAC-MED is a flexible service that brings you directly to the curb at your destination in the greater Sacramento area. The pickup and drop off locations in El Dorado County can be chosen from the following: Placerville Station (Mosquito Road) Missouri Flat Transfer Center (near WalMart) Central Transit Center (Diamond Springs) Ponderosa Road (Wild Chaparral) Park and Ride El Dorado Hills Park and Ride If you need transportation to and from the pickup and drop off locations, you will need to schedule a separate Dial-A-Ride trip. Curb-to-curb means that the Dial-A-Ride van or bus will pick up a passenger at the designated location at a pre-scheduled time and take them to a pre-scheduled destination. Sometimes passengers will share a ride with other passengers; this is to ensure that El Dorado Transit can provide service for the largest number of passengers possible. Ride requests are accepted on a first come/first served basis. Dial-A-Ride is available to seniors (60 and older) and persons with disabilities who are registered in the El Dorado Transit Dial-A-Ride system. Registration Process and Application Complete and return the Dial-A-Ride application to the El Dorado Transit office. Once processed, staff will schedule a photo session and issue a Dial-A-Ride photo ID card. Dial-A-Ride Application Subscription Dial-a-Ride Application Making a Reservation Call the reservation number at (530) 642-3696 or (916) 933-7766 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, up to three business days in advance. To make scheduling the ride quick and easy, passengers need to have the exact address of the pickup location and destination as well as the desired pickup or appointment time when calling. Dial-A-Ride operates during the following times: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday and Sunday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Dial-A-Ride operates with no or limited service on most Holidays . Service Area and Fares Each one-way ride fare is $3.00. The following map shows the Dial-A-Ride service area. Reservation Pickup Window Dial-A-Ride has a “30-Minute Window” system, passengers will be given a reservation time however, you must be ready 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after that time. The van or bus could arrive at any time during the 30-minute window but will wait only five (5) minutes for passengers to get to the van. “No-Show” Policy Passengers must call at least 1 hour before the scheduled pickup to cancel their ride. Non-canceled rides will be declared a “no show”. Any pickup “no-show” will result in the automatic cancellation of the return trip. Unless dispatch is contacted, it is assumed that the passenger would not need a return ride. Passengers accumulating 3 no shows in a 30-day period will be suspended from using the shared ride service for 14 days. Passengers accumulating 6 no shows in a 90-day period will be suspended from using the shared ride service for 30 days. Eight cancellations in a 30-day period will results in a 14 day suspension. Prior to any suspension, a written warning of the proposed suspension period and the reasons for it will be provided to the passenger.
