OHYA 's mission involves maintaining the integrity of Original Hot Yoga's therapeutic benefits through resources and standards for studios, teachers, classes and teacher trainings around the world. OUR TEAM Lynn Whitlow Lynn is a master teacher and leader in the hot yoga and fitness community, with over three decades of teaching experience. Immersing herself in the culture and traditions of yoga, which she passionately shares with her students. She has studied under the most respected yoga masters, has traveled to India to study with Geeta Iyengar and holds an Ashtanga Yoga certification from Larry Schultz. She was instrumental at the  Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Los Angeles for many years. Lynn continues to travel extensively across the United States and internationally to host workshops, master classes and mentoring studio owners and teachers. Alongside Rajashree Choudhury, she played a pivotal role in introducing Yoga Asana Competition to the United States. Currently, Lynn serves on the board of directors of USA Yoga and is the Head Judge for the International Yoga Sports Federation. Lynn has owned and operated eight successful hot yoga studios in the San Francisco Bay Area including Yoga Hell Petaluma and is the founder of Funky Door Yoga. Tereza Bonnet Šenková Posture Principles Tereza is a former contemporary dancer who performed at the Moulin Rouge in Paris. She has a Bachelor's degree in pedagogy and methodology of movement and dance from Academy Of Performing Arts in Prague. In 2005, she became a certified Bikram Yoga teacher, taught in Paris, then chose to bring the Original Hot Yoga to Prague, Czech Republic, where she currently owns two successful hot yoga schools. Tereza has organized many national and European championships. She is the Head of the technical committee of IYSF and leads the work on the posture guidelines. Hana Persson Anatomy Principles Hana completed Bikram's teacher training in Khao Lak, Thailand in 2015. Since then she has been practicing daily and has taught classes all over the world. ​Hana competed in her first yoga competition in 2015 and was the Swedish and Nordic champion in 2018, 2019 and 2020. She also placed 4th in the 2020 IYSF Virtual Yoga Asana Championship. Together with her husband Erik Persson, she has been coaching Swedish yoga athletes since 2018.Hana has a bachelor’s degree in both Anatomy and Psychology and presented the Anatomy content for IYSF A-level coaching. Christian Scaraglino Yoga History & Lineage After experiencing the benefits of hot yoga Christian completed the Bikram teacher training in Los Angeles in November 2002. In 2006 and 2007, he competed in three International Yoga Sports Championships and then began judging competitions in 2008. He is currently an A-level Certified Judge at IYSF. In 2019 Christian organized the first Nordic Yoga Sports Championship in Malmö, Sweden and is the founding member of the Swedish Yoga Sports Federation. Cintra Brown Yoga Philosophy Cintra is a pioneer in the world of the Original Hot Yoga series earning her teaching credential in 1987, making her one of the most experienced teachers in the world. Cintra also holds a rare certificate from the Ghosh College of Physical Education in Kolkata, India. She opened the first hot yoga studio in Phoenix, Arizona in 1992 as well as the first hot yoga studio in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Cintra is an International Yoga Judge and continues to travel the world teaching classes. Lisa Ingle Stevens Lisa has been teaching yoga for 20 years and lives for providing tools to others in order to live their best lives  She holds yoga certifications in Bikram Yoga, Power Yoga, Yin, Meditation and Hot Yoga.  She is certified through PAX and Lightyear Leadership in order to provide transformational tools to support our mental fitness as well.  Lisa has taught and lead leadership development programs for the past 18 years and is the Co-Founder of The Union Yoga, Fitness and Fun in San Antonio, Texas. In 2019 she created The U-Institute, a leadership development and yoga teacher training company that allows her to meld her 2 passions of mental and physical health.  Kim Tang Kim has worn the hats of yoga student, yoga teacher, studio owner, presenter, demonstrator, five-time California State Champion, and six-time nationally-ranked competitor.  She has comprehensively coached dozens of competitors on all levels on regional, national and international stages. Frequently Asked Questions How should I prepare for my first yoga or pilates session? Dress as if you were going to the beach! Avoid baggy T-shirts and pants. Light, fitted exercise clothing work fine. We like to be barefoot! Avoid eating at least 2-3 hours before class. Our classes are always best practiced on an empty stomach. Some people however need to have a little something in their belly (such as a piece of fruit or an energy bar). You’ll soon work out what works for you and what your body needs. Be well-hydrated! Drink lots of water before coming to class. We should be drinking 2 litres a day anyway but, on the days you workout, you should drink 3-4 litres! Come with an open mind. Be ready to laugh a little, maybe cry a bit, and to sweat a lot! How much water should I drink before yoga or pilates? LOTS! You are going to sweat. Shower quickly, there’s a drought. How often should I practice yoga? As often as you can. For great results, practice three times per week. For life changing results, practice six days per week. And always know, one class is better than nothing. Can I lose weight from doing yoga? Yes, you WILL lose weight. Your body will very quickly change itself. Not only will you lose weight, your weight will be better distributed throughout your body. Your body will transform itself miraculously . You will naturally gravitate to healthy foods.
