Habitat History Bay & Valley Habitat Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley was originally three separate affiliates, the oldest of which was founded as Bay & Valley Habitat in July 1986 to serve the southern region of our current service area. We joined forces to form Habitat East Bay/Silicon Valley in 2012. East Bay Habitat Of our three original affiliates, the second was founded as East Bay Habitat for Humanity in April 1988, serving Alameda County and the western portion of Contra Costa County. Mt. Diablo Habitat The third affiliate, Mount Diablo Habitat for Humanity, was founded in October 1990 to serve the eastern part of Contra Costa County. Mt. Diablo Habitat merged with East Bay Habitat in 2007 to build throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The Women's Crew In 1995, a group of women at the Mt. Diablo affiliate decided to start volunteering and fundraising together as a group, forming the Women's Crew, which is still going strong today. AmeriCorps If you're a volunteer, you've likely crossed paths with an AmeriCorps service member. AmeriCorps members began working with us in the mid-1990s, and we continue relying on their incredible service today.  Global Village In 2000, we began supplementing our active Global Investment program by organizing teams of Global Village volunteers, who raise funds and travel to build with a Habitat for Humanity effort a Donate Cryptocurrency Skip to Content Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley Toggle Menu Get Involved Toggle children for Get InvolvedGet Involved Individual Volunteers Company Groups Faith & Community Groups Advocacy AmeriCorps Volunteer Abroad Support Us Toggle children for Support UsSupport Us Ways to Donate Toggle children for Ways to DonateWays to Donate Donate Now! When you donate cryptocurrency to Habitat for Humanity, you can amplify the impact of your investment! Your crypto donation provides critical funding to support the construction of more affordable housing here in the Bay Area and around the world.  When you donate appreciated cryptocurrency directly to a nonprofit like Habitat, you will not owe capital gains tax on the increase in value, and you can deduct the fair market value of your donation on your taxes. How can i donate cryptocurrency? Glad you asked! Donating crypto is safe, easy, and fast. Plus, to make it convenient, we accept donations in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and over 100 additional leading cryptocurrencies. Use the Giving Block donation form to make a charitable gift in 3 steps: Select your preferred crypto and enter your gift amount Type in your email and basic info (or choose to give anonymously) Make your gift!  Crypto charitable donations are processed quickly and safely with  The Giving Block  and  Gemini Trust Exchange .  IMPORTANT - Donors Please Read: Please only send the exact cryptocurrency listed on the blockchain mentioned on the donation form. Do not send any other cryptocurrencies (including layer 2, wrapped tokens, NFTs or other ERC-20 tokens not listed), as these are unsupported and may result in loss of donation. Will I get a tax receipt? Upon making a donation, you can elect to receive an automatically generated tax receipt that will be sent to the email address you provide after a certain amount of confirmations of the transaction on the blockchain. This confirmation of your donation will help you close the loop when calculating your taxes. Is my donation refundable? All cryptocurrency donations made via The Giving Block are non refundable. We are not able to give refunds if you changed your mind or because the wrong cryptocurrency was sent.
