As I searched to find my place in this western society, I was taken back with the amount of family and cultural stigma and shame projected at me as a young woman. I was simply an innocent teenager in a new society trying to find herself. Despite the challenges of judgment and social expectation I have come to acknowledge what it means to be able to choose freedom and live a life of self discovery rooted in the power to unlearn old programming and rewire my thoughts and beliefs to reflect what is authentically true for me and my life.
