WELCOME!  ​ We accept cash. California has been a direct access state since 2014. In most situations, you can be evaluated and treated by a licensed physical therapist without first seeing your physician for a referral. ​ We also accept, Medicare, Workers Compensation, Triwest, and most insurance plans such as HMOs, PPOs, and many others (please feel free to reach out to our staff to review your specific plan coverage).      Insurance Our professional staff will verify your insurance coverage/benefits for you. To make things more convenient, please have the following available: ​ Doctor’s prescription for therapy (required for treatment) Picture ID (ex: driver’s license) Insurance information Co-payment or deductible (if needed) Cash  Please call us at 213-481-1515 or email us at [email protected] to schedule your appointment.  What to expect  A new patient visit or consultation will require approximately 30-60 minutes. New patients are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment for the proper completion of paperwork. This will allow you to be ready for your therapist at the scheduled time.  Follow up visits will be approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on the complexities of your problem. Testimonials Clara C. This was my first experience with PT and it was wonderful. I worked with Jim who not only understood the reason for my pain, but explained it all to me if very clear terms. Reception was accommodating, gave me a printout for my scheduled and then cooperatively changed it when I had conflicts. I cannot say enough GREAT STUFF about this place! I first went here last Jan. following knee surgery. A couple months later, I was in a serious auto accident and sustained injuries to my hip, hand, back and neck. So, I spent the better part of a year going for PT at Wilshire Center. If it weren't for their AMAZING STAFF - their kindness, attentiveness and persistence with me - I would probably be in a nursing facility.  The staff - especially James, Debbie and Jennifer - went above and beyond each session to insure that the exercises and treatments were effective for me. If the exercises and treatments weren't helping or were too hard to do, the staff were attentive in switching them for me. I could tell that they really cared about my helping myself to get back to normal.   If you have to go for physical therapy - this is the place to go. It doesn't get any better than Wilshire Center. Ito Z. I have been going to this place for the past 2 years for my physical rehabilitation process. My main therapist was Angelina Estrada. She was very knowledgeable on explaining my rehab program, flexible with my schedule, kind, and making sure I was doing every exercise correctly so I wouldn’t injure myself. Thanks to Angelina and her guidance throughout my rehab, I have been able to incorporate her recommended stretches and exercises to get back to working out. Overall, the whole staff is great . The lady (Yubeth) at front desk was great at helping me schedule my appointments. I thank her for that. Meet the Team Dedication. Expertise. Passion. James Aquino, PT, DPT Ow ner Dr. James Aquino earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the Evidence In Motion Institute of Health Professions, with advanced training in Manual Therapy. He began his academic journey at McGill University in Montréal, where he developed a strong foundation in movement science and patient-centered care. He also spent time in Reims, France, studying wine—an experience that deepened his appreciation for craft, detail, and quiet discipline. With years of experience treating a broad range of conditions—including orthopedic, sports injuries, vestibular disorders, and neurologic conditions—he is committed to helping patients return to the activities and lives they value most.  Sandy Canout, PT, OT, CHT Owner Sandy graduated from Loma Linda University in 1976  with her degree in Occupational Therapy and went on the work in pediatrics and geriatric rehab, as well as developing multiple substance abuse OT programs throughout Orange County. She then graduated from Loma Linda University  Physical Therapy program in 1984 and went on to pursue her interest in orthopedics, industrial medicine and sports medicine while achieving her CSCS (strength and conditioning specialist certification) after which she went on to pursue her passion for movement awareness becoming certified as a Feldenkrais practitioner and later pursue an interest in hand therapy becoming certified in 2000. James Larsien, PT James joined Wilshire Physical Therapy in 2016. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1995 and has practiced in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine since then.  He enjoys treating all types of patients from weekend warriors to professional athletes.  James has a special interest in gait/movement analysis and has done extensive work with runners and golfers.  Sarah Canout, COTA Sarah graduated from CBD college COTA program in  2019 and  passed her licensing exam with the National Board for Certification as an  Occupational Therapy Assistant in 2020. She joined the team at Wilshire Center Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation in 2021 as a COTA,  having previously worked with the team as a PT aide and then tech for over 10+ years. She has always been interested in pursuing a career in the medical profession considering nursing, PTA and deciding on OTA. Her passion is helping others. Nadine Valerio , PT Nadine earned her Physical Therapy degree from De La Salle Health Sciences Institute in 2014 and has since gained valuable experience working as a PT in sports medicine and orthopedic clinics. Nadine is passionate about helping patients recover and improve their quality of life through physical therapy. She takes pride in her ability to connect with patients and tailor treatment plans to meet their individual needs. Additionally, she is bilingual, speaking fluent Filipino and English, which allows her to effectively communicate with a diverse range of patients.
