He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Genesis 1:1,26,27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 Corinthians 13:14 About Christ Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead on the third day to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Matthew 1:22,23; Romans 1:3,4; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Hebrews 4:14,15; Isaiah 9:6; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13 About the Spirit The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under his control daily. 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18 About the Bible The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5 About Human Beings People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by a nature of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This nature separates people from God and causes many problems in life. Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1,2 About Salvation Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith, and submits to Him as Lord and Savior. Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:15; Galatians 3:26 About Eternity All people will pass from this life into eternity either at their death or when Jesus returns. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places and everyone will go to one or the other based on how they respond to Jesus. Our great hope, is the day when Jesus returns and resurrects the dead and renews the earth. John 3:16, 2:25, 5:11-13, 14:6; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; Matt 1:8, 2:44,46; Revelation 21; 1 Corinthians 15:1-58 About Baptism Baptism is the Biblical response to our faith as we publicly confess Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives. It is our pledge of allegiance to God from a clear conscience (1 Peter 3:21). It is us identifying with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection as we are symbolically buried with him and raised to walk in new life, committed to following Him. God wants all believers to be baptized. SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE Our services are guest-friendly - meaning we do everything to make sure you feel at home and not out of place. Our music style is contemporary with a blend of new worship songs and remade traditional pieces. We value all music traditions and all generations. Looking to the future, we intentionally build our services around the next generation. Every Sunday, we join together as followers of Jesus in taking communion to remember what He did for us on the cross. As directed in the Bible, we eat a piece of bread which represents the body of Jesus that was broken for us, and drink a cup of juice which represents the blood of Jesus that was shed for the forgiveness of our sins. If you are not a follower of Jesus or you do not want to participate, don’t feel obligated to partake. We also have an opportunity to worship God through our tithes and offerings every Sunday in service. If you are a first time guest, please don't feel obligated to give. If you want to give, you can in person or give online through our website or through Venmo. What we would really like is to connect with you and one way we do that is through a connection card. Simply fill out as much information as you feel comfortable providing and submit online or bring it by the connection table in person for a free gift. Our services are approximately 65 minutes. KIDS MINISTRY Intentional age related programming occurs throughout the week at IOLA. Nursery & Children’s classes for kids 0-12 are available on Sundays. The story of the Scriptures is not a God desperate to destroy humanity for its vanity… it is the story of a God who loves His creation more than they love themselves. He loves us with an everlasting love that demonstrates itself in the story of Jesus. Jesus is God with us, Who came to show us what God is like. Through His virgin birth, sinless life, His miraculous works, death in our place, and victorious resurrection, we see the plan come to fruition. In Jesus God makes us right with Himself. We have sinned and chosen brokenness. But God has done everything necessary to make us right with Him. Now we are given an opportunity to turn from our sin (the Biblical word is repentance), and turn back to God. To admit we need His forgiveness and accept that Jesus has done that for us.
