The two-story venue was designed to emanate gothic-influence: metallic pressed tin on the walls, pews salvaged from St. John's Presbyterian (now the Julia Morgan Theatre) & antique church lighting. The bar was topped with copper, allowing the beer taps to glow in front of a huge wooden ice box. Founder John Martin was already an established named in craft beer in the early 90s, having started Triple Rock Brewery & Alehouse, the country's oldest original brewpub, in 1986 & working tirelessly to improve brewing legislation. His focus on sculpting the perfect customer experience was built directly into everything Jupiter is. NOW Over 30 years later, Jupiter is still a Berkeley hotspot. Dinner here is a bronze-hued buzz, almost always saturated with folks from all over the bay area, old & new. Customers are greeted with the smell of pizza dough & roasted toppings the moment they walk through the door. Any open seats at the bar draw beer lovers & learners alike to interact with our highly-trained bar staff, receiving recommendations on new finds or old classics. Jupiter hosts live music on our outdoor patio up to 6 nights a week. Trumpet vines & string lights create rare atmosphere in this truly unique Downtown oasis. SCROLL DOWN BEER Our beer program consists of 12 house taps dedicated to our core beers and 22 guest taps of various styles & origins.   Homegrown recipes Taking from our 30+ year long heritage, our house beer recipes are tried and trusted Berkeley classics. We pride ourselves in our wide array of quality offerings. No matter what styles you like, our house beers have you covered. Served in our house 20oz Ultra glass.   House Brews Sour Blonde Ale 6.2% - 12oz A pale and low ABV American Sour ale that exhibits intense citrus and red wine qualities, with subtle notes of honey, jasmine, and Brett Funk in its aroma. This part of this blend was aged in a French Oak Foudre for 6 months, with the other half being a wild rice saison that has been resting in oak for 36 months. Along with The mixture of Sacch Trois Yeast [Similar in funtion to Brettanomyces], as well as Lacto and Pedio bacteria creates a bright and intense acidity that is bracing at first, yet softly fades on the pallet Bright Star 3.8% - 20oz - 8 Our Berlinerweisse undergoes a kettle souring process, where we have our batch sit in the boil kettle for 48 hours with a souring bacteria. This allows for a short lactic fermentation that develops moderate acidity and sourness. Low ABV is typical to the style, so this is a sour beer for any occasion, and any time of day. Brightly effervescent, with a lemonly sourness, and a dry finish. XHP 5.5% - 20oz - 8.25 Generously dry-hopped with Amarillo and Simcoe for a bright, piney punch, XHP brings together orange blossom and grapefruit notes with a touch of honey sweetness. We don’t like choosing favorites, but XHP is our perfect everyday hoppy beer. IPA 7% - 20oz - 8.5 Our Best Coast IPA is a bright and dry IPA with a piney nose and smooth finish. No astringent or sticking bitterness here, this flavor fades smoothly with every sip. Hazy IPA 7% - 20oz - 8.5 Get blasted with tropical fruit flavors and aromas. Notes of guava, papayas, and citrus. Double IPA 9.3% - 20oz - 8.5 Big west coast IPA with a BIG nose and BIG flavor of guava, lemon, lime and grapefruit rind. Malt liquor is a favorite of our production staff. Specifically the brand that has a hornet on it. So our Head Brewer Miguel AKA Mikey concocted the finest of malt liquors. A little honey sweet and a hefty amount of alcohol. Amber 5.9% - 20oz - 8.25 Our Amber uses an English Ale yeast to ferment. Expect flavors of toffee, caramel, and nutty undertones. A gentle sweetness from the yeast rounds out the experience. Nitro Dry Stout 4.8% - 20 oz - 8.5 Just as the Irish intended, but made right here in the East Bay. Smooth, velvety, and creamy, with hints of chocolate and roast at its edges. Nitrogen replaces Carbon Dioxide in the finishing tank, changing the tactile sensation of this beer's mouthfeel. Easy drinking, and low ABV, making this a beer a classic sessionable option. Pilsner 4.5% - 20oz - 8 A North German style pilsner, which are distinctive in their high hopping rates and clean, dry body. We combine extra premium pale German pilsner malt with the most American ingredient of all, flaked maize, which dries the body out nicely, and we hop it exclusively with a noble-style American hop called Vanguard. The beer displays a nice spiciness with a subtle fruited note, and finishes clean and dry. Hefe 4.5% - 20oz - 8 Like the fog lingering over the bay, our take on the classic wheat beer is unfiltered for a hazy appearance and fluffy mouthfeel. It’s a smooth, easy drinker, with notes of fresh banana and clove spice that finishes with a soft, mellow sweetness.
