Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer cosmetic dentistry for auditions or upcoming appearances?
Yes. We often help patients prepare for auditions, photo shoots, events, or professional appearances. Depending on timing, cosmetic bonding, whitening, veneers, or Invisalign may be recommended.
Do you treat celebrities, actors, or public figures?
Yes. We regularly treat actors, creatives, executives, and public-facing professionals who need cosmetic dental work that looks natural, polished, and camera-ready. Privacy and discretion are always respected.
Is your cosmetic work designed to look natural on camera?
Yes. Our cosmetic dentistry is designed to look natural under bright lighting and high resolution cameras. We avoid overly white or artificial results and focus on facial harmony.
Why do actors and performers choose LA Dental Clinic?
Actors and performers often want subtle improvements that enhance their smile without looking artificial. Our approach focuses on conservative techniques, natural shade selection, and balanced smile design that photographs and films beautifully.
Do you see patients from outside Koreatown?
Yes. We treat patients from Mid Wilshire, Downtown Los Angeles, Hancock Park, Westlake, Pico Union, Hollywood, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Miracle Mile, Beverly Grove, and Beverly Hills. Many patients also fly in for treatment. With proper planning, we can accommodate tight schedules and complete the smile makeover in 1-2 days. Koreatown is centrally located, which makes it convenient for patients coming from surrounding neighborhoods.
Is parking difficult in Koreatown?
Parking at our office is easy compared to many areas in Koreatown. Patients regularly tell us that convenient parking makes their visit much less stressful, especially along Wilshire Boulevard. We offer free onsite parking with validation.
What kind of dental office is LA Dental Clinic?
LA Dental Clinic is a cosmetic dental practice. We are not a high volume office. Every treatment is personalized and designed for natural looking, long lasting cosmetic results.
I am nervous about the dentist. Is this a good office for me?
Yes. We specialize in sedation dentistry for adults who feel anxious or have avoided dental care in the past. Many patients relax or sleep through their appointment and are surprised by how comfortable the experience feels.
What cosmetic dental services do you offer?
We offer smile makeovers, cosmetic bonding, no prep veneers, porcelain veneers, Invisalign, biomimetic dentistry, and sedation dentistry. Each treatment plan is customized based on your goals, schedule and oral health.
Are no prep veneers really non-invasive?
In many cases, yes. No prep veneers are designed to enhance your smile with little to no removal of natural tooth structure. Candidacy depends on your bite, tooth shape, and cosmetic goals. We always aim to conserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible in every case.
Is Invisalign painful?
Invisalign treatment is generally not painful, but you may experience some discomfort or pressure, especially after switching to a new set of aligners. This is normal and a sign that the aligners are working to move your teeth into place. The discomfort usually subsides within a few days.

Preparation Tips Before The Surgery Dr. Arezoo Nasiry November 14th, 2024 Wisdom Teeth Getting ready for wisdom teeth removal doesn’t have to be nerve-wracking. With a few simple preparations, you can set yourself up for a smooth experience and faster recovery. Here’s what to do before wisdom teeth removal to make things easier. Prepare for a Comfortable Recovery Stock up on soft, easy-to-eat foods like soups, yogurt, and smoothies to make meal planning a breeze post-surgery. It’s also a great idea to set up a cozy recovery space at home, with blankets, pillows, and your favorite shows or books to keep you entertained while you heal. Arrange Transportation and Support Since most wisdom teeth extractions involve anesthesia or sedation, driving afterward won’t be possible. Make sure you’ve arranged for someone to drive you home and stay with you for the first few hours post-surgery. Having a helping hand makes the experience much more comfortable and ensures your safety as you recover. Follow Pre-surgery Instructions Your oral surgeon will provide specific pre-surgery instructions, which may include fasting or avoiding certain medications. Be sure to follow these guidelines closely to ensure a smooth procedure. If there’s anything you’re unsure about, don’t hesitate to reach out for clarification. All-inclusive Wisdom Teeth Removal in Los Angeles With a little prep, wisdom teeth removal becomes much less stressful, and recovery goes by smoother. LA Dental Clinic in Los Angeles offers expert, all-inclusive wisdom teeth removal for just $3,000 or $275/month for 12 months with our financing options. Our comprehensive package includes consultation, CT scans, sedation, and aftercare—ensuring a stress-free experience. Book an appointment today and let our skilled team provide top-notch care. Dr. Arezoo Nasiry November 14th, 2024 Invisalign Wearing Invisalign for 20 to 22 hours a day can feel like a big commitment, especially if you’re balancing a busy lifestyle. Naturally, the idea of wearing them only at night sounds tempting. But is it effective, and can it really work? Let’s explore whether this approach would deliver the results you’re after. Why Nighttime-only Wear Won’t Work Invisalign works best when worn consistently throughout the day. The gentle pressure applied by the aligners moves teeth gradually over time, and removing them for too long interrupts this process. If you only wear your aligners at night, the progress slows significantly, often leading to prolonged treatment or even setbacks. How Inconsistent Wear Affects Your Progress Skipping the recommended wear time doesn’t just delay results—it can also cause discomfort. When aligners are left out for extended periods, putting them back in may feel tight or uncomfortable. This inconsistency also makes it harder to stay on track with the treatment plan, which could mean more frequent visits to your dentist. Tips to Maximize Your Invisalign Results If wearing Invisalign all day is difficult, consult your dentist to discuss potential solutions. You may find that shorter intervals or a more flexible schedule still deliver results that fit your lifestyle. Remember, the closer you stick to the 20-22 hour guideline, the more predictable and faster your results will be. Get the Lowest Price on Invisalign in Los Angeles Invisalign is designed for consistent wear, making nighttime-only use less effective for achieving your ideal smile. Want faster results? Start your Invisalign journey with LA Dental Clinic. Take advantage of our unbeatable $4,500 price or approved financing at $211/month. Book your appointment today and get one step closer to your perfect smile. About Dr. Azy Nasiry Dr Azy Nasiry is owner of LA Dental Clinic and teaching faculty at UCLA Dental School. The health and function of your teeth takes priority over cosmetic treatment. If you have severely crowded teeth and want veneers to fix it, we will recommend invisalign treatment first (we will not sacrifice the health of your teeth). If you have gum disease, this needs to be addressed prior to cosmetic treatment If you have many cavities, nutritional and oral hygiene counseling as well as treatment to restore the cavitated teeth takes priority over cosmetic work How many veneers should i get? This depends on your final goals. If you want to make your teeth considerably whiter, then you need veneers on all the upper teeth that show when you smile. This is 8-10 teeth for most people. If you only want to fix a few smaller teeth or restore some chipped teeth but don’t want to change the color or shape of your teeth in general, you will need fewer veneers. What is layered composite bonding? Our natural teeth are made of different layers of dentin and enamel, giving teeth unique characteristics. The deeper parts of our teeth are more yellow in color and the superficial parts are more translucent. This allows light to shine through our teeth differently, giving more translucency at the biting edges and more opacity at the gumlines. With layered composite bonding, we mimic these natural characteristics in your composite veneers. We layer 3-5 different colors and types of composite to recreate each veneer. We will use more translucent composites to replace the edges of the teeth, and more opaque colors to replace the gumlines. We use stronger composites on the tongue side layers, where you bite into, and more polishable composites on the surface, so your composite bonding will remain strong and look beautiful for many years. How long does layered composite bonding last? Layered composite bonding, can last 5-10 plus years. You do need to have them polished, have regular cleanings and wear a retainer or night guard. Do i need invisalign before veneers? If your teeth are misaligned and your bite is not correct, you would benefit from invisalign before veneers. At LA Dental, we plan your veneers and invisalign together. This means that we do the smile design first, then move your teeth with invisalign to sit right behind where we want the veneers. This way we don’t have to shave down your teeth and can be as non-invasive as possible when preparing for your veneers. Can I get no prep veneers? No prep veneers can work if your teeth are already smaller than the final shape of the veneers we plan. For most patients, we may do a combination of prep and no-prep veneers to do a smile makeover. Biomimetic dentistry is a dental approach focused on restoring teeth with materials and techniques that mimic the natural properties of your teeth. Unlike traditional dental procedures that often involve drilling and the removal of healthy tooth structure, biomimetic dentistry preserves as much of your natural tooth as possible, ensuring long-term health and strength. Biomimetic dentistry is a dental approach focused on restoring teeth with materials and techniques that mimic the natural properties of your teeth. We reconstruct the tooth from the inside out, making it less likely to fracture in the future. This is done by adding a fiber mesh inside the layers of filling within the tooth. The mesh acts like rebar inside a cement wall, helping to reinforce the tooth from within. Before Treatment: Xray before treatment Photo before biomimetic treatment Placement of Rubber Dam: Isolating the tooth from oral bacteria. Placement of Ribbond Fiber Mesh: Fiber mesh embedded within the filling, strengthening the tooth from inside. After Treatment: After treatment X-ray: The dotted U-shaped line within the white buildup shows the embedded fibers. After treatment photo: Showing the finished restoration. Step 2: Selective Caries Removal We take time and care to preserve the healthy nerves in your teeth, which helps avoid root canal treatment. Selective caries removal allows us to carefully remove only the decayed parts of the tooth, preserving the healthy nerve tissue. Deep cavity on teeth close to nerves Careful removal of cavity to avoid nerve area (pink dye used to highlight the area) Placing the fiber mesh over the deepest area to protect the nerve and reinforce the filling. The nerve is preserved and ready for an onlay. Step 3: Rebuilding the Tooth with Biocompatible Materials For badly broken-down teeth with healthy roots, we carefully isolate the tooth using a rubber dam and rebuild the tooth with biocompatible materials. These materials bond to your tooth, reducing the risk of cracks or fractures compared to traditional methods. Why We Use Biocompatible Materials: The materials bond to the tooth, preventing fractures. Reduced likelihood of post-operative pain or sensitivity. Lower chance of fillings or onlays falling off. We move forward with permanent treatment only once you’re 100% happy We also remove any cracks developing in the teeth using high magnification and precise dissection to prevent further damage. This approach reduces the chance of the tooth breaking in half and minimizes pain when chewing. Onlay and Overlay Restorations Instead of full crowns, we use onlay and overlay restorations, which preserve the healthy parts of your tooth and only replace the decayed or structurally weak areas. This minimizes the need for invasive procedures and protects the integrity of your natural teeth. It can be hard to chew, smile and even speak when you have lost a tooth. Not to mention, a missing tooth can cause your other teeth to shift. This poses an orthodontic problem if the gap is not properly filled. Tooth loss is nothing to be concerned about, it is common in adults and it can happen for many different reasons: Illness Injury Addiction or drug abuse Accidents Improper oral care Infection Whatever the reason for tooth loss, your dentist is able to fill the space in your smile. This has many benefits: Increased confidence Improved oral health Prevents tooth shifting and orthodontic problems Improved quality of life Maintain the shape of your jaw and face Ability to speak, eat and smile “like normal” Dental bridges are an excellent option when you and your dentist are discussing treatments for your missing tooth/teeth. Don’t let missing teeth and gaps in your smile hold you back, there are many things that you can do to rectify the situation. Learn about how dental bridges can benefit you. What Are Dental Bridges? Start with the basics, what are dental bridges? Dental bridges fall into a category of dental procedures called “restorative dentistry.” This type of dental practice is closely related to cosmetic dentistry. It focuses mainly on repairing a person’s smile, after injury, illness or trauma. Restorative dental care incorporates orthodontics to perfectly fit new teeth to your bite. Some common restorative dental procedures include: Implants Dental Bridges Veneers Fillings and crowns Dental Bonding Braces or Invisalign Restorative procedures can be combined with cosmetic services. Restorative dental care encompasses most dental procedures when they are used to return the mouth to a functional state, after injury or infection. Dental Bridges Dental bridges are one option you can explore when you are wondering about which restorative dental treatment is right for you. Your procedure will depend on your specific circumstances. Dental bridges are permanent, prosthetic sets of teeth that can be installed in your mouth. They will give you a fully functional bite that allows you to eat, drink, smile and talk like you normally would. They are color matched specifically to your teeth, and fitted perfectly to your bite and smile. They look and feel like real teeth and they do not have to be removed like dentures. How Do Dental Bridges Work? Bridges are attached permanently to your surrounding teeth. They are used to “bridge” the gap between teeth, if one, or several have gone missing. A dental bridge contains two crown-like structures, and dental implants in between the crowns. Your neighbouring teeth are filed down and fitted to size with the bridges. They act as two anchors that allow the tooth in the middle (the missing space that will be filled) to sit comfortably and permanently within your gums, held in place by the neighbouring anchor teeth. Different Types of Bridges Bridges are a life changing decision, so it is important to know the different options you have when it comes to getting bridges. There are two main types of dental bridges: Traditional Bridges Traditional bridges are excellent options for when you are only missing one or two teeth. These bridges can fill the gap in your mouth with an artificial tooth that is attached to two crowns. The healthy teeth on each side of the missing tooth are filed down and fitted with crowns. There is an artificial tooth in the centre of the two crowns. They are fused together. The crowns are attached permanently to the artificial tooth, holding it safely in place. Implant Bridges Do you have a row of several teeth missing? It is difficult to add traditional bridges if there are only a few teeth left in your mouth. These teeth will be stressed and will not make for very good anchors. When this is the case, implant bridges are required. Implant bridges look and feel just like traditional bridges, however they require a minimum of two dental implants to hold them in place. As opposed to your natural teeth. Implant bridges require slightly more work. Your dentist will have to drill into your jaw and insert dental implants. The amount of implants will be determined with orthodontic testing. Your dentist will need to evenly space the weight of the bridges on the jaw, so 2-4 implants are often needed to disperse the weight, and to ensure that the bridge is permanently in place. Your dentist will create anchor teeth by inserting implant screws into your jaw, through your gums. The dental screw is the base of the dental implant and is comparable to the root of a natural tooth. It will hold the bridges permanently in place. The crowns of the bridge are then fused into place atop the dental implants. The artificial teeth sit comfortably melded to the crowns and can fill your entire mouth with a new set of fully functional teeth. Who Can Benefit From Dental Bridges? Dental bridges are for those who have one or several missing teeth. Dental implants are also an option in this situation. However, bridges work well in circumstances where there are many teeth missing. They are effective and can change the way you eat, speak and smile, immediately. Dental bridges used to be the only permanent option for tooth replacement. They have a long history of success. Bridges are effective in any situation where there is tooth loss, they are perfect for those concerned with the aesthetics of a missing tooth. With bridges you will have the full functions of your mouth. What Is The Procedure? How Are Bridges Installed? The process of getting dental bridges is fairly simple. Dental bridges look and feel like regular teeth. The process can take a long time, despite being straightforward, and it will often require three or more visits to the dentist. The First Appointment for Traditional Bridges In your first appointment, your dentist will prepare your anchor teeth for crowns. The teeth that will support the crowns will then be filed and fitted to fit under the crown. Impressions of your teeth are made after the two teeth that will support the crowns have been filed down. The molds of your teeth are necessary so that they fit the crowns perfectly. The impressions give the dental lab the information they need to be able to make the bridges a perfect fit. At the end of your first appointment, the dentist will give you a temporary bridge to wear while the real one is being made. This bridge is fragile and not permanent, so you must be careful and gentle with it while your bridges are being made. The temporary bridges are needed to protect the exposed teeth that have been filed down for crowns. The Second Visit for Traditional Bridges Your permanent bridge is ready for your second visit, after the impressions have been made and processed. In this appointment, the temporary bridges are removed and the real bridge is applied. You will test the permanent bridge for it’s fit and feel in your mouth. You may suffer from gum disease, recession, excess gum tissue, abscessing or inflammation. Whatever the ailment may be, your dentist can add or remove gum tissue, as well as treat bacterial infections in your gums. Gum surgery is quite common and it is a fairly quick and efficient procedure. What is Gum Surgery? Gum surgery is a type of dental procedure that is performed when there is a problem with a patient’s gums. Often, your dentist will refer you to a periodontist, a doctor who specializes specifically in gums and gum treatments. Gum surgery can be done for both medical and cosmetic reasons. If a patient has gum disease or gum cancer they will have to undergo a different type of surgery from a patient who simply wants to improve the appearance of their gums when they smile. Your gums play a very important role in your mouth. They hold your teeth in place and make eating and chewing food possible. They protect the delicate roots of your teeth from external factors like bits of food and bacteria. They keep your teeth firmly balanced and situated in your jaw. Gum surgery in the most basic sense, involves cutting into the gums to add or remove tissue. There can be gum grafts performed if a patient needs more gum tissue added to their teeth, and excess gum tissue can be removed as well. Who Can Benefit from Gum Surgery? Many people benefit from gum surgery every year. It is considered a minor surgery when compared to other dental procedures. However, gum surgery is still a serious undertaking. The gums are very delicate and can easily be disrupted. You can benefit from gum surgery if you: Have receding gums Have gum disease Suffer from excess gum tissue Were in an accident that caused your gums to be damaged Have teeth that are fully or partially covered by excess gum tissue Foreign object within the gums Inflamed gum tissue Different Types of Gum Surgery Due to the dual nature of this procedure (it is both practical and used for orthodontic purposes) there are many different versions of gum surgery. Soft Tissue Gum Grafts This procedure is needed to protect your teeth from recession. Gum recession can become so severe that the roots of your teeth become exposed. This makes your teeth hypersensitive to to warm and cold temperatures. Gum recession can make eating otherwise normal foods extremely painful. You can also have gum grafts on a purely aesthetic basis. You may simply not like the amount of tooth that shows when you smile or open your mouth. Gum tissue recession is a very common problem. In this case, gum surgery will help improve the appearance of your smile for your personal preferences. Most people don’t notice when recession occurs, until it becomes problematic. In this surgical procedure, tissue is taken, most often from the roof of your mouth. This tissue heals quickly and the missing tissue will not be noticeable after the procedure. It is only a very small amount that is needed for the procedure. Gingivectomy A gingivectomy is useful when there is too much gum tissue surrounding the teeth. This procedure is often performed for aesthetic purposes. It is also practical in the sense that it can be hard to clean your teeth with a large amount of extra gum tissue. Too much gum tissue can cause infection and tartar build up if left untreated. Deep Cleaning This procedure does not require any major alterations to your gum tissue. It is simply a matter of cleaning pockets of bacteria and tartar out from under your gums. In advanced cases of periodontitis, or gum disease, a tissue graft may be needed in conjunction with this procedure. The loss of gum tissue due to infection can be excessive and may require grafts. Gingival Flap Surgery When you have gum disease you often need more than a deep cleaning to fully remove the tartar under your gums. Your dentist can choose to perform a gingival flap surgery instead. This takes the deep cleaning process one step further. Your dentist will actually cut into the gums and pull them aside in order to clean plaque and tartar from the roots of your teeth, as well as your jaw bone. The procedure is quite fast and you may only need local anaesthetic. There will be swelling after and the gums will be delicate and need a short period of time to heal. What Can I Expect In A Gum Surgery Procedure? Before surgery Before surgery, brush and floss your teeth as you normally would. Arrive early to your appointment to manage any paperwork before the procedure. You will be given a sedative before the procedure if the surgery requires it. This will make the area around your gums numb, for a pain free surgery. During the Surgery: Your dental assistant will thoroughly clean and rinse your teeth. This ensures your dentist is working with a clean slate for the procedure. Gum Grafting If your dentist is performing a gum graft, you will be put under general anesthetic. Your dentist will transfer tissue from the roof of your mouth, and stitch it to the gums of your teeth. The new tissue will heal in the area your dentist places it and you will appear to have a normal gum line. Gingivectomy If you are having gum tissue removed, there are many methods your dentist may choose. Some dentists use laser technology to carefully remove the unwanted gum tissue from your surrounding teeth. Others will manually cut the tissue and remove it. Both methods are effective, however the laser procedure will require less downtime. Gingival Flap Surgery In a gingival flap surgery, your dentist makes several incisions in your gums and pulls them apart. Once your gums are pulled away slightly, the roots of your teeth and jaw will be exposed. You dentist will remove plaques that have gathered in this area. They will stitch your gums up when they have finished. Your gums will heal tightly to your teeth, just as they were before. Deep Cleaning During a deep cleaning, your dentist or hygienist will not have to make incisions into your gums. They will simply use dental tools to clean plaque and tartar out of the roots of your teeth. How long is the surgery? The length of surgery depends on what you’re having done. Most gum surgery procedures are quite fast, they normally are no longer than an hour. After surgery You can go home immediately after your procedure. If you were under general anaesthetic for the surgery you must have someone pick you up. You cannot drive immediately after being under. Your dentist can also prescribe you with medication for pain, or antibiotics to prevent infection. This isn’t always necessary however and depends on what you had the surgery for. What to expect after gum surgery: Your gums will be very tender and sore after surgery. Depending on what you had done. Most often your dentist will prescribe you medication to help with pain and to help prevent any infection. It is best to keep the surgical area clean, you can rinse you mouth with salt water to help sterilize it. Dental implants offer a robust and long-term solution to tooth loss for several compelling reasons. Unlike dentures or bridges, implants replace the entire tooth structure, including the root, which helps to stimulate the jawbone and prevent bone loss – a common consequence of missing teeth that can alter facial structure over time. By integrating directly with your jawbone, implants provide unparalleled stability and support for replacement teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence, 1 just like you would with your natural teeth. Furthermore, because they are individual replacements, implants don't rely on adjacent teeth for support, preserving the health and integrity of your remaining natural teeth. Investing in dental implants is an investment in your long-term oral health, functionality, and aesthetic appearance. When is the ideal time to get a dental implant? The ideal time to get a dental implant placed in Los Angeles depends on several factors specific to your individual situation. Generally, there are a few different scenarios: Immediately after tooth extraction: In some cases, if you have healthy gums and sufficient bone density, an implant can be placed on the same day as the tooth extraction. This can shorten the overall treatment time. Early placement (2-3 months after extraction): This allows the gum tissue to heal. 1 Placing the implant at this stage often occurs before significant bone loss happens. Delayed placement (more than 3 months after extraction): This is common, especially if there was infection or bone loss around the extracted tooth. It allows the bone to heal and may require bone grafting to ensure enough support for the implant. The best timeframe for you will be determined by a thorough evaluation at LA Dental, including assessing your bone health, gum condition, and the reason for the tooth loss. Consulting with our implant specialists will provide you with a personalized treatment plan and timeline for your dental implant placement. How Our Dental Implants Work Step 1: Virtual Consultation (15 min) – Free Book a free virtual consultation with our expert doctor. This initial meeting allows us to discuss your goals, evaluate your needs, and give you a ballpark estimate for your dental implants. Step 2: In-Person Consultation & Records Collection You'll have an initial appointment with one of our experienced dentists This includes a thorough review of your medical and dental history. A comprehensive oral examination will be performed, assessing your teeth, gums, and bite. Digital X-rays and potentially advanced imaging like 3D cone-beam CT scans will be taken to evaluate your jawbone density and nerve location. We will discuss your treatment goals, expectations, and answer all your questions about dental implants. Step 3: Treatment Planning Based on the examination and imaging, a personalized treatment plan will be developed specifically for you. This plan will outline the number of implants needed, the type of restoration (crown, bridge, or denture), the timeline for the procedure, and the associated costs. We will discuss all available options and ensure you fully understand the proposed treatment. Step 4: Implant Placement Surgery The surgical placement of the titanium implant post(s) into your jawbone is the next step. This is typically performed under local anesthesia, and sedation options are available to ensure your comfort. Our skilled surgeons will precisely place the implants in the optimal position for stability and long-term success. Step 5: Healing Period (Osseointegration) After the implant placement, there is a healing period called osseointegration, where the jawbone fuses directly with the titanium implant. This process usually takes several months. During this time, you may have temporary restorations to maintain aesthetics and function. Dr. Arezoo Nasiry November 14th, 2024 Invisalign For coffee lovers, the thought of giving up that daily cup while wearing Invisalign can feel like a serious sacrifice. After all, what’s a morning without that familiar caffeine kick? If you’ve just started Invisalign treatment , you might be wondering if your beloved coffee habit can stick around. Invisalign offers the freedom to remove the aligners when eating and drinking, but does that apply to sipping coffee throughout the day? Can you still enjoy your coffee fix without messing up your treatment plan or staining those clear trays? Let’s break it down and find out how coffee and Invisalign can coexist without derailing your journey to a perfect smile. Why Coffee Might Be an Issue with Invisalign You are probably wondering why drinking coffee is even a concern when using Invisalign. After all, isn’t one of the major perks of aligners their removability? While it’s true that you can take them out for meals and drinks, many people still prefer the convenience of keeping their aligners on as much as possible. However, there are some key reasons why drinking coffee while wearing Invisalign may not be the best idea. Coffee is known for staining teeth, and Invisalign aligners are made from clear plastic to stay invisible while you wear them. Drinking coffee with the aligners on can lead to discoloration, affecting both the aligners and teeth. Over time, this staining can reduce the aligners’ transparency, defeating one of Invisalign’s main benefits: their nearly invisible appearance. Additionally, coffee is acidic and usually consumed hot, which can cause prolonged exposure to the teeth and aligners, weakening the plastic material over time. Acid from coffee may also promote tooth decay if it seeps between the aligners and teeth, trapping coffee residue. This buildup could result in cavities, delaying treatment and requiring further orthodontic intervention. How Coffee Can Affect Your Treatment Progress One of the essential parts of successful Invisalign treatment is wearing the aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours a day. This leaves little time for you to remove the aligners to enjoy a leisurely coffee without impacting your wear time. So, what happens if you drink coffee with them? Drinking coffee while wearing Invisalign can result in more frequent cleanings and potentially longer treatment times. When coffee leaves residue on your teeth or aligners, it may encourage plaque buildup, leading to more frequent dental cleanings . Moreover, stained or damaged aligners might require replacements, costing extra time and money. If you consume coffee with sugar or cream, you’re adding more fuel for bacteria to feed on, increasing the risk of tooth decay. All these factors can hinder the progress of your treatment and lengthen the time you need to wear Invisalign. Tips for Coffee Lovers Wearing Invisalign Does this mean you have to give up your beloved cup of joe while undergoing Invisalign treatment? Not necessarily. There are ways to enjoy your coffee without compromising your orthodontic journey. Here’s how you can continue to drink coffee and protect your Invisalign aligners and your teeth: Take Aligners Out Before Drinking Coffee: The simplest and most effective way to avoid any issues is to remove your aligners whenever you want to drink coffee. This way, you won’t risk staining the aligners or exposing them to heat and acidity. Just remember to brush your teeth afterward before putting your aligners back in. Use a Straw: If you’re in a situation where you can’t easily remove your aligners, consider using a straw. While this isn’t a perfect solution, a straw can help reduce the amount of coffee that comes into direct contact with your teeth and aligners, minimizing the risk of staining and acid exposure. Limit Sugary Additives: Adding sugar or cream to your coffee increases the risk of tooth decay. Try to drink your coffee black or with minimal additives to reduce the impact on your teeth. Rinse Your Mouth After Drinking: If you can’t brush right away, rinsing your mouth with water after drinking coffee can help wash away some of the residue left behind. This can mitigate the staining effects and help protect your teeth. Schedule Your Coffee Breaks Wisely: If you’re someone who likes to sip coffee throughout the day, try to consolidate your coffee drinking into a shorter period. Instead of drinking multiple cups over several hours, have one or two cups within a set time so you’re not constantly removing and reinserting your aligners. The Staining Problem: How Coffee Affects Both Aligners and Teeth One of the primary concerns when drinking coffee with Invisalign is the potential for staining. Coffee contains tannins, which are compounds that can cause staining on porous surfaces, including your teeth. If you’re sipping coffee regularly with your aligners in place, both your aligners and your teeth are at risk of becoming discolored. Aligners are designed to be transparent, but coffee can quickly make them appear yellow or brown. This reduces the aesthetic appeal of your treatment and might make you self-conscious about wearing them. While some staining might be removable with regular cleaning, significant discoloration may require new aligners and slow down your treatment. The effect on your teeth is another issue. Invisalign aligners are snug against your teeth. If coffee gets trapped between your teeth and the aligners, it can lead to stains that are difficult to remove. Stained teeth can detract from the final results of your Invisalign treatment, leaving you with a smile that isn’t as bright as you had hoped. How to Clean Your Aligners After Coffee If you accidentally drink coffee with your aligners in or simply want to keep them in top shape, knowing how to clean them properly can go a long way. Here’s what you can do: Use Invisalign Cleaning Crystals: Invisalign offers cleaning crystals that are specifically designed to clean and disinfect your aligners. These crystals help remove stains, odors, and bacteria that can build up over time. Brush Your Aligners Gently: You can brush your aligners with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a clear, unscented soap to keep them clean. Avoid using toothpaste, as it can be abrasive and scratch the surface of the aligners, making them more prone to staining. Rinse Regularly: Always rinse your aligners with lukewarm water after removing them to wash away saliva and food particles. Never use hot water, as it can warp the plastic material of the aligners. Avoid Colored or Scented Cleaning Products: Using colored or scented soaps can leave a residue on your aligners or even tint them, which is the last thing you want. Maintaining a regular cleaning routine ensures that your aligners remain clear and invisible throughout your treatment. Aligners and Hydration: Why It’s Important to Drink Enough Water One aspect of Invisalign treatment that sometimes gets overlooked is hydration. Wearing aligners can make your mouth feel drier than usual because they cover your teeth, Safe IV Sedation Dentistry in Los Angeles | LA Dental Care Close Services Smile Makeover Dental Implants Wisdom Teeth Removal IV Sedation Invisalign Biomimetic Dentistry Emergency Dentist Cosmetic Dental Care We are focused on comprehensive cosmetic dental care for adults. Dental sedation involves using medication to help you relax during your treatment. It can range from something mild to ease anxiety to deeper sedation where you're barely aware of what's happening. We offer different types of sedation, and we can discuss your specific needs and concerns to determine the best approach for a calm and stress-free experience. Book A Consultation What Our Dental Sedation Services Include 01. Pre-operative consultation to determine the level of sedation you need. 02. All necessary medication to ensure you’re comfortable during your dental procedure. 03. All post operative visits needed. What are the different levels of sedation Our dental sedation services are tailored to ensure your comfort throughout your visit. We offer several options, Nitrous Ooxide (laughing gas), which is a mild sedative inhaled through a small mask to help you feel relaxed and at ease. The effects wear off quickly after the treatment. Oral Conscious Sedation - For those who need a bit more relaxation. You'll take a prescribed medication before your appointment. This will make you drowsy and less aware of the procedure, though you'll still be able to respond to instructions. IV sedation , which involves medication given through IV. This provides a deeper level of relaxation, and in some cases, you may have little to no memory of the procedure. You will simply wake up when the procedure is completed. During your consultation, we'll discuss your medical history and anxiety levels to recommend the safest and most effective sedation method for you. We'll also carefully monitor you throughout your treatment to ensure your well-being. Why Should I Get Dental Sedation? Reduce anxiety and fear: Sedation can significantly alleviate dental anxiety and phobia, making the experience much more manageable. Increase comfort: It helps minimize discomfort and pain during procedures, leading to a more relaxed and pleasant appointment. Manage a strong gag reflex: Sedation can help suppress an overactive gag reflex, allowing for smoother treatment Facilitate longer or more complex procedures: It allows you to remain comfortable and still for extended periods, which is beneficial for more involved treatments. Create a more positive experience: By reducing stress and discomfort, sedation can help you feel more positive about dental visits in the future. Enable necessary treatment: For some individuals with high anxiety, sedation is essential to even consider undergoing necessary dental work, ultimately benefiting their oral health. Eliminate the fear and finally get your dental work completed. Why Should I Get Dental Sedation? Invisalign moves your teeth by using a set of clear trays, called aligners, that are worn in sequence. Each aligner is worn for 7 days. Once the movement for that aligner is complete, you move on to the next aligner in the sequence. How long does invisalign treatment take? Depending on your specific situation, treatment can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. In many cases, more than one set of aligners is made to complete your treatment. Do you take payment plans? Yes, we offer in house payment plans ranging from 6 months to 1 year, and third party payment plans that can spread out your monthly payments to 3 years and lower your monthly payments with a low or no initial deposit. Once you have done your consultation, our team can help you with the application process, which requires only a soft credit check. How often do i need to wear my aligners? You should wear your aligners as much as possible, but at a minimum of 22 hours per day. This means you will wear your aligners day and night, anytime you are not eating or brushing your teeth. Can i eat and drink with the aligners? You should not drink anything but water with your aligners. Most of our patients prefer to remove their aligners to eat, but, you CAN wear your aligner while eating, with some benefits and restrictions: IF you eat with your aligners, we can reduce the duration of each tray wear from 7 days to 4 days. This means your treatment duration can be reduced by almost half. BUT, if you wear your trays to eat, you need to remove them immediately after and clean them so you don’t trap food between your trays and your teeth. AND, wearing your trays to eat means that the trays will stain, so you need to avoid certain staining foods, like turmeric, while eating with your trays. How often do i need to come in for appointments? Most of our patients will come in once every 2 or 3 months for appointments. Some of these appointments can be done virtually. Is invisalign painful? Invisalign is much more comfortable than traditional braces and not painful. Some people will have discomfort during the first 2 aligners but this goes away for most after aligner 2. The most common description from patients is that the trays feel tight when first changing aligners. I was told i’m not a candidate for invisalign in the past but I don’t want braces. What are my options? Finding a provider who is knowledgeable with the use of invisalign aligners is important for the success of your treatment. At LA Dental, we have switched to using Invisalign aligners exclusively for all our orthodontic treatment. For a lot of people, there often isn't enough space in the jaw for these new teeth to come in properly. Think of it like trying to squeeze one more car into an already full parking spot – things can get a little crowded and messy! When wisdom teeth don't have enough room, they can get stuck (we call that "impacted"), and they might start growing at a weird angle pushing against other teeth, gums and your jaw. This can lead to a few different issues that we want to avoid Pain and Discomfort: Even if they're not fully out, they can cause pressure and soreness in your gums and jaw. Damage to Other Teeth: If they're pushing against your other molars, they can cause shifting, crowding, and even damage to those healthy teeth. Infection and Gum Issues: Partially erupted wisdom teeth can be really tricky to clean properly, which means bacteria and food can get trapped, leading to infections, gum disease, and even cysts. Potential for Future Problems: Even if they aren't bothering you much now, impacted wisdom teeth can cause problems down the road. It's often easier to take them out before they cause issues such as infection and swelling. Staff is very professional and friendly, I am so happy with my decision of doing my invisalign treatment here! Dr Nasiry is great! Carlos Perez Listen! I drive a long way to come here and it's worth every penny. After comparing with multiple doctors near me they were the only people that I trusted at that price range for my Invisalign. The office is amazing and the staff is even better. If your brackets fall off they replace them for free. Everything in there is so high-tech and futuristic. Couldn't recommend them more! Stanley J When Should I remove my wisdom teeth? Proactive Removal (in younger individuals): Many dentists recommend removal in late adolescence or early adulthood (like your early 20s) even if problems aren't currently present. This is because: Healing tends to be faster and easier at a younger age. Roots are not yet fully developed, making extraction simpler. It can prevent future complications from arising. Other reasons to remove wisdom teeth are: Impaction: When your wisdom teeth don't have enough space to fully erupt and become stuck beneath the gum line or partially emerge. Pain or Discomfort: If your wisdom teeth are causing you persistent pain, pressure, or headaches. Damage to Adjacent Teeth: When your wisdom teeth are pushing against your other molars, potentially causing crowding, shifting, or root resorption. Infection or Gum Disease: If the area around your wisdom teeth is frequently getting infected (pericoronitis) or contributing to gum disease due to difficulty in cleaning. Cysts or Tumors: In rare cases, cysts or tumors can develop around impacted wisdom teeth. Orthodontic Concerns: If your orthodontist recommends removal to prevent future crowding or interference with your bite alignment. Dr. Arezoo Nasiry November 14th, 2024 Invisalign Invisalign has transformed the world of orthodontics by offering a discreet and convenient alternative to traditional braces. It allows you to achieve a straighter smile without the metal wires and brackets, all while giving you the freedom to remove the aligners when necessary. However, Invisalign not tracking is one issue that can arise during the treatment. This means your aligners aren’t fitting tightly against your teeth, or those specific teeth aren’t moving as they should. It can result in visible gaps between your teeth and aligners or simply a feeling that something is off. Read on to discover why Invisalign sometimes doesn’t track and what you can do about it. How Invisalign Works Invisalign operates using a system of gentle, consistent pressure to gradually guide your teeth into their ideal positions. Unlike traditional braces that rely on metal wires and brackets, Invisalign aligners are crafted from smooth, clear plastic and are custom-made to fit your teeth at every stage of your treatment. Each set of aligners is designed to make small, precise adjustments, moving your teeth progressively week by week toward a straighter smile. Invisalign offers a tailored approach, with aligners created based on a 3D scan of your teeth. This ensures a snug and comfortable fit that promotes accurate movement. When the process goes as planned, your teeth shift smoothly and align according to the progression mapped out by your orthodontist. If Invisalign isn’t tracking correctly, though, you might notice several signs indicating issues: You may notice small gaps between your aligners and certain teeth, indicating that your teeth aren’t fully engaging with the aligners. Some teeth might not align as they should, creating an uneven appearance in your smile. The aligners might feel loose or ill-fitting, which can reduce their effectiveness in moving your teeth. You may not see the expected progress when switching to a new set of trays, leaving you feeling like your treatment is stalled. Each of these signs is an indication that your Invisalign isn’t tracking as it should, and it’s important to address the issue to avoid delays in your treatment. Why Is Invisalign Not Tracking? Common Causes When you commit to Invisalign, you expect smooth progress as your teeth gradually move into alignment. But what happens when things don’t go as planned? Invisalign tracking issues can leave you frustrated, wondering why your aligners aren’t fitting or your teeth aren’t shifting as expected. Tracking problems are quite common and can arise for several reasons. The good news? Most of these issues can be corrected with a little troubleshooting. Inconsistent Wear Time One of the most frequent reasons for Invisalign tracking issues is inconsistent wear. Invisalign is designed to be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day, leaving minimal time for meals, brushing, and any other reason to remove the aligners. If you don’t wear them as prescribed, you risk disrupting the forces that are supposed to gradually shift your teeth. Forgetting to wear your aligners regularly or leaving them out for extended periods can prevent your teeth from moving as planned. Even short periods of non-wear can set your treatment back. It’s not just about missing time; it’s about consistency. If your aligners aren’t worn enough, your teeth won’t adjust, leading to tracking issues. Aligners Not Fully Seated Proper seating of the aligners is critical for them to apply the necessary pressure on your teeth. If the aligners aren’t fully seated, meaning they aren’t flush against your teeth, they may not exert the right force. This often leads to a visible gap between the teeth and the aligners, signaling that the treatment is not progressing as planned. Patients may mistakenly believe their aligners are properly in place when they are not. This issue often arises when the aligners aren’t pushed in firmly enough, particularly around tricky spots like molars. Even slight misalignment can cause the teeth not to track correctly. Missing or Faulty Attachments Invisalign often uses small, tooth-colored attachments to help the aligners move teeth that require more complex adjustments. These attachments are bonded to your teeth and serve as anchor points for the aligners to apply additional pressure. If an attachment breaks off, is improperly placed, or is missing entirely, the aligners may not track as designed. Attachments are vital for certain tooth movements. Without them, Invisalign may not be able to apply the correct force to shift your teeth. Changing Aligners Too Early or Too Late Switching aligners too soon can also lead to tracking problems. Your orthodontist will provide you with a schedule for when to change your aligners. If you move to the next set of aligners before your teeth are ready, it could disrupt the sequence and throw your treatment off track. Your teeth need time to settle into their new positions before transitioning to the next stage. Delaying the switch to the next set of aligners for too long can cause stagnation, preventing your teeth from moving as planned. Sticking to the prescribed timeline for switching aligners is essential to maintain progress. More Complex Tooth Movements In some cases, the tracking issues aren’t due to anything you’ve done. Certain tooth movements are inherently more difficult, such as rotating teeth, moving molars, or closing large gaps. If your treatment plan includes challenging movements, these teeth may lag behind the others, causing your aligners to not fit as intended. Some teeth simply take longer to move, and it’s not uncommon for tracking issues to arise around complex movements. Your orthodontist may adjust the treatment plan to address these slower-moving teeth. How to Fix Invisalign Tracking Issues If you’ve identified that your Invisalign is not tracking, the good news is that there are steps you can take to correct the issue. Whether it’s a minor adjustment or a more involved correction, addressing tracking problems early can prevent long-term delays. Here’s what you should do if your Invisalign isn’t tracking properly. Consult with Your Orthodontist Immediately The first step is to schedule an appointment with your orthodontist or Invisalign provider as soon as you notice that your aligners aren’t tracking. Don’t wait for the issue to resolve on its own. Your orthodontist will be able to assess the situation and recommend an appropriate course of action, which may include adjustments to your treatment plan. Your orthodontist might need to refine the fit of your current aligners or apply or reattach attachments. They may also recommend wearing certain trays for a longer period before advancing to the next set. Use Chewies to Improve Aligner Fit If your aligners aren’t fully seated, using Invisalign chewies can help correct the issue. Chewies are small, soft rubber cylinders that patients bite down on while wearing their aligners. This action helps press the aligners more firmly agai New Patients | What To Expect On Your First Visit With Us Close Services Smile Makeover Dental Implants Wisdom Teeth Removal IV Sedation Invisalign Biomimetic Dentistry Emergency Dentist Cosmetic Dental Care We are focused on comprehensive cosmetic dental care for adults.
