Application deadline 5/8 Learn More Welcome to Camp FAVE! Camp FAVE launched in Summer 2024 with a bold vision: to create an unforgettable camp experience that builds the next generation of volunteers and civic leaders. Each week blends exciting field trips, meaningful service projects, friendship, and fun — all grounded in hands-on, experiential learning. Through guided discussions and real-world volunteer projects, campers explore important community issues such as supporting foster youth, preserving ecosystems, caring for shelter animals, addressing food insecurity, and serving our unhoused neighbors. We don’t just talk about challenges, we empower kids to be part of the solution. Each week, Camp FAVE welcomes approximately 100 campers from across Los Angeles, led by trained counselors and experienced directors. Our inclusive and intentional program fosters connection, helping kids build friendships while strengthening their sense of belonging within the broader LA community. Camp FAVE is designed to nurture social and emotional growth. Through service, children naturally develop empathy, compassion, leadership, and teamwork. Engaging in meaningful community work builds confidence and self-esteem while promoting active, healthy lifestyles through outdoor exploration, environmental stewardship, and hands-on projects across the city. Most importantly, we help children discover that their actions matter. By introducing philanthropy and civic engagement early, we lay the foundation for lifelong community involvement and responsible leadership. New This Year: Pop Up Camp Days! We’re excited to introduce Camp FAVE Pop-Up Days, single-day camp experiences offered on school holidays. These high-energy, hands-on days are designed for students who are off from school and ready to spend the day learning, serving, creating, and having FUN. CONTACT US Every day, my kids came home excited to tell me about their adventures. They especially loved the session with exotic animals and the visit to the African-American Firefighter Museum. It was also heartening to see how the camp celebrated Juneteenth and taught the kids its significance. Despite my efforts to explain it at home, it was at Camp FAVE where they really understood and could explain it back to me. ~ Liz, Parent of Campers LOGIN/REGISTER CONTACT ABOUT US FAQ MEDIA SHOP MEET OUR STAFF MEET OUR BOARD CAREERS PRIVACY POLICY © 2025 L.A Works bottom of page --> PRIVACY POLICY | L.A. DONATE Together We Can Help: How to Aid Fire Recovery More than a year later, fire-impacted Angelenos are still working to get back on their feet. The Community Voices: LA Fire Recovery Report , published October 2025 by the Department of Angels, provides details about the housing, financial, and mental health issues fire-impacted individuals and families face, a picture about the environmental issues associated with the fires, and more. Take a look to understand why the work continues. Recovery and resilience efforts require an ongoing force of volunteers ready to help. Volunteering with L.A. Works is one of the ways you can support the journey of those affected by the fires and let them know that they haven't been forgotten . L.A. Works also offers opportunities to support fire risk reduction. Take a look below to see what might interest you (and maybe even your friends)! Featured Opportunities 5/15 Palisades Mothers Brunch Join Palisades Long-Term Recovery Group with our commitment to serving individuals as they continue the recovery process after the L.A. 2025 Fires. Why: PaliLTRG holds monthly luncheons for the senior community imapced by the 2025 LA fires. These luncheons provde a space for seniors to connect with cimmunity and learn about different recovery efforts and resources. The May luncheon will provide a celebration of Mothers and Mother figures. Fridays & Saturdays thru 6/27 In the wake of the Eaton Fire, many Altadena residents are still navigating the long road to recovery—facing mounting challenges like county citations and delayed rebuilding timelines due to ongoing appeals and financial strain. Why: This work addresses an immediate public safety issue while preventing additional financial strain on fire-impacted households, making recovery more possible and equitable for those still navigating loss. Every yard cleared is a step toward restoring stability in Altadena—supporting neighbors through compliance, safety, and a tangible path forward after devastating loss. 5/16 Outdoor Space Beautification The need for affordable housing opportunities for displaced Eaton Fire Survivors, especially low-income renters, continues to be deeply urgent. By volunteering to help us create this outdoor space, you will help to give these survivors, who have lost so much, a home and a space to heal. 5/23 Community Wellness Event We want to welcome back many of our residents who have been affected by the fires. We will create a safe and welcoming space for them and provide tools to help heal and relax from what has been a tough year. Let's open the park up and shine a light on our families and give them a chance to enjoy themselves! NOTE: Three Shifts Available 6/19 Father's Day Brunch Many of the fathers we serve have carried the responsibility of holding their families together through loss, displacement, and rebuilding for over a year. As housing assistance comes to an end for many families, the pressure has only intensified. These men continue to show up, provide, and lead while navigating uncertainty and stress. This brunch is designed to give them something they rarely receive: A moment to pause. A moment to be poured into. A moment to feel seen, respected, and appreciated. 8/22 Pickleball Tournament Recovery Fundraiser One year after the Los Angeles fires, recovery remains a daily challenge for thousands of families. 70% of insured survivors report delays, denials, or underpayments from insurers, leaving many in financial limbo. We’re hosting Rally for Recovery to support Everyone's Fire Survivor Network and need your help in making this event possible! Family Home Furnishing Setups & Reveals By volunteering, you’re showing up for fellow Angelenos who have lost everything and are still rebuilding nearly a year after the fires—many of whom feel forgotten as public attention has faded. Your time and care help restore not just homes, but dignity, hope, and a sense of greater community support for families navigating one of the hardest chapters of their lives. Help Survivors "Shop" With 8 out of 10 Altadena residents still not back home, survivors remain deeply affected by the fire. Volunteers play a key role in organizing donations, stocking shelves, assisting survivors with selecting needed items, maintaining cleanliness, and creating a welcoming, supportive environment. More Opportunities There are even more ways to help than the ones you see on this page. Financial Contributions L.A. Works was founded in 1991 to harness LA’s volunteer power. Each year we mobilize tens of thousands of volunteers to address critical issues impacting our community, with the goal to unite Angelenos and inspire action for a more equitable Los Angeles. Because one of the pillars of our mission is to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations to achieve their missions through access to volunteers and other resources, we are sharing the following list of LA organizations that are requesting financial donations. Please consider making a donation to L.A. Works - we would be grateful for your support as donations will also assist us in mobilizing volunteers now and all year long.
