Learning Bee provides a well-rounded curriculum that fosters both intellectual and emotional growth in our Afterschool Enrichment Program. Our qualified teachers offer students individual academic assistance along with daily group tutoring on their homework assignments and for test preparation. Fun and enriching curricula such as art and chess are included as part of our program, to promote creativity and logical thinking. Am I obligated to the After-School Enrichment Program for the entire school year? Learning Bee offers a highly flexible program. Student commitment to our Afterschool Enrichment Program is on a monthly basis. We ask for two weeks notice for termination of enrollment in our program. Do you offer sibling discounts? Learning Bee offers a 10% discount on a sibling’s enrollment in the daily Afterschool Enrichment Program. We also offer a 10% discount for enrollment in individual courses like Academic Writing Classes, Lego Robotics, and Hip Hop classes for all students in our afterschool program. Are Learning Bee students grouped by age, disposition, or some other measure? Students are grouped by grade level for the aftershool program and by skill level for enrichment class activities. How safe is my child at Learning Bee? Your child’s safety is our utmost priority. We have installed closed-circuit surveillance cameras in our facilities to ensure maximum security of our students and staff during business and non-business hours. Only authorized personnel and individuals escorted by Learning Bee Staff can access classroom areas while your child is attending programs at Learning Bee. Do you offer transportation service for Learning Bee? Learning Bee offers optional transportation service within each facility’s service area. Driver fees are not included in the tuition and are paid directly to drivers. Does Learning Bee communicate with schoolteachers about integrating my child’s learning? One of our top priorities is to ensure that students receive proper assistance with understanding and completing their school assignments. Our open and consistent communications with parents regarding students’ academic progress and behavioral issues ensure that all parties caring for the well being of each child share a common understanding of the issues involved. We encourage parents’ direct participation in the discussion with their children’s day school teachers, as we see family support as the most crucial element in the upbringing of a child. How attentive are teachers to the children? We maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio (1: 10) for our daily Afterschool Enrichment Program. In addition, our teachers are tasked to engage students in fun activities that are conducive to learning even during Play Time (after individual class sessions or homework time). Student behavior is monitored throughout the day to ensure proper conduct at all times. What do you do in a typical afternoon? Learning Bee provides a safe and nurturing environment for elementary level students in our After-School Enrichment Program, where they receive attentive assistance on their homework assignments and are tutored in subjects such as math, reading, and writing to meet or exceed California’s standards. Beyond academic focus, students participate in our art and chess courses and can take optional courses to further enhance their learning. Does Learning Bee screen kids that are likely to be unruly? Learning Bee strives to offer equal learning opportunities to every child enrolled in our After-School Enrichment Program. We do not impose behavioral screening on our incoming students, but do discuss specific concerns about each child’s academic needs or personality with his or her parents prior to enrollment, so we can create an appropriate development plan for each student that ensures a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all children in the program. If behavioral issues arise, we discuss remedial measures with the parents. Does Learning Bee show videos or television? Learning Bee employs educational videos as supplemental teaching material, together with lecture and group activities when appropriate during class sessions. Children’s entertainment videos are only used during designated Movie Time – occasionally and for a limited period of time on some Friday afternoons. Does Learning Bee provide healthy snacks? We provide milk with each snack time as soon as students arrive from school. Every other Friday, we provide a snack party to celebrate the end of the week. We follow sound nutritional guidelines for children. Parents of children with specific needs such as vegetarian diets or food allergies are welcome to discuss dietary restrictions with us so that we can appropriately accommodate those students. What is the standard for communication between parents and teachers? Learning Bee maintains frequent communications with parents in conversations as parents pick up their children. Should special situations arise that require extended discussion or consultation with Learning Bee teachers, we schedule designated time to ensure that, in collaboration with parents, we attend to the well-being of each child. General communications regarding upcoming activities, new service offerings or policy changes are communicated via email, posters, and our e-newsletter. What are the qualifications for your teachers? Learning Bee is always looking for dedicated and passionate educators for our teaching positions. Lead teachers must have a minimum of a 4-year accredited college degree with 3+ years prior experience working with young children in an equivalent industry. Candidates with advanced college degrees or current teaching credentials are preferred. All staff members are subject to reference checks and background checks. We also have opportunities for current college students with ECE (Early Childhood Education) credits to take internship positions in supporting roles to our lead teachers. Are children monitored for progress? Yes, we monitor individual students’ progress closely. All of their work and their teachers’ comments are well documented and archived for internal use as well as for sharing with their respective parents. CONTACTING CAMP STAFF: All enrolled families will be invited to our summer camp “class” on the free Class Dojo app before the first day of camp. SICK LEAVE AND ABSENCE POLICY: Parents should report student’s absence by texting us using the Class Dojo App no later than 9:00am daily. Campers should stay home if they have a fever, is vomiting, or have any other contagious health conditions. Campers who experiences fever, diarrhea, vomiting, pink-eye or any other suspected contagious illness will be separated from other camp participants and sent home by camp instructors upon notification to responsible parents. No refund or credit will be issued for absences due to any reasons. We have been very happy with our decision since then. The well rounded program includes public speaking, book reading, art, drama, music, environment care, math program, homework help, occasional cooking, physical activity and lots of fun projects that keep the kids engaged and entertained. The staff's Miss Angela , Miss Peggy, Miss Cally, Miss Grace, Miss Lelia and others are absolutely patient, caring and put efforts to connect with the parents as well. They show their graciousness by not getting upset over late pickups and keeping the kids well engaged even beyond the working hours! My son loves this place so much that he wants to go even during the weekends. As a parent the other brownie point for this afterschool is the ideal location. There is martial arts, music instruments, dance classes close by and not to forget the gas station and starbucks. We are all set to send him here till he completes 5th grade!! Mrs S. Ramaswamy Learning Bee has been wonderful for my family! My kindergartner was happy there with the great mix of subjects (academic and extracurricular) they had to offer. During quarantine / remote learning for kinder and 1st grade, they were equally attentive and supportive, if not more. So many examples of how they went the extra mile and really cared about the kids. They had a special Zoom kinder graduation ceremony. They pivoted their fall programs to better fit the needs of families. When my kid had trouble with writing, a teacher came out on a weekend morning for an outdoor, masked, social distanced tutoring session. Learning Bee wants to cultivate kind and smart global citizens, and they are doing that by creating that kind of environment in the LB "hive." Mrs. T. Chan My son was a part of multiple Summer camps/ classes at Learning Bee during Summers this year. He had a blast and enjoyed being part of various classes. We saw improvements in his skills as well. The staff is very prompt, warm and friendly and always open to feedback. We miss Learning Bee and wish to go back sometime. His favorite was Ms. Peggy's art classes which made him realize his liking for art. The only reason we couldn't continue is due to the tremendous increase in exposure to screen time at school. Murarka I had explored at least a dozen different after school programs in the area with no luck. Nothing seemed to fit the personalities of our rambunctious 5-year old boys. It was serendipitous when we found Learning Bee while doing a drive around Fremont. We took a step inside, and Ms. Lelia gave us a tour. Immediately it felt right. Learning Bee really puts love, passion and care into their work. You could feel it in the quality of their instructors. More importantly, you can see it in the happiness of the kids. The Learning Bee kids are filled with laughter and questions... just teeming with energy and life! Ms. Grace took a chance on us, even though they had a waitlist and our family was outside their normal geography. Fast forward 6 years, and our boys are still enjoying Learning Bee. It's been just as big a part of their lives as their regular school. We couldn't imagine them growing up without it. And although many of their classes have transitioned to virtual, you can still feel that same level of commitment from Ms. Grace and her staff. They personally curate every instructor to make sure your kids are getting awesome, passionate lessons in a variety of different topics. Their instructors aren't just mercenaries. Fan This pandemic is hard for everyone, as a working parent, I feel an incredible sense of exhaustion, doing what is probably 3-4 jobs at once. If there is a silver lining in this hard time of our life, I would say the best decision we made is to continue the distance learning program with Learning Bee. The passion and experience are in no doubt through years packed with successful stories, and what I appreciate the most is that they were able to quickly transfer such knowledge into a well-structured distance learning program. They have designed the online course with a good balance of variety of activities, teachers have done a tremendous job in leading the kids to follow through the classes, and stay 100% engaged. My goal for our kids attending a distance learning program is simple, have quality time that encourages and stimulates creative thinking and at the same time, offer a forum with peers at similar age to foster their emotional intelligence. The enrichment classes (Chess, Public Speaking etc. and occasional cooking classes) are excellent too. Registrations received during this time will be ranked for each grade: G 1 – G5 Students will be ranked as follows: Current continuing students will be ranked above any new students upon payment of registration fees. Kindergarten students ranked as follows: siblings of current students will be prioritized over new students upon payment of registration fees. We will announce confirmation of Fall 2025 Roster Spots within a week of completion of registration. OPEN ENROLLMENT April 16, 2025 and thereafter Registration is open to everyone at this time for any remaining roster spots. During this period, roster spots will be ranked based on time stamp of completed and paid registrations. We will announce confirmation of Fall 2025 Roster Spots within a week of completion of registration. REGISTRATION FEES There is a $195 Registration fee per child. Registration Fees are non-refundable upon confirmation of roster spots. The only exception is if Learning Bee or parents cannot find transportation for your child to get from school to Learning Bee. Families on waitlist: $50 is non-refundable once you decide you want to stay on the waitlist. The remainder can be refunded upon written request up to 90 days after you have been on the waitlist. TUITION Tuition is charged per 18 school days installment period. 10 installments are charged per school year. Tuition information will be finalized based on enrollment numbers. The first tuition payment for students accepted on our roster will be due billed in June 2025 and due on July 1, 2025 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION A sample day for our grade 1 to 5 students will have them arriving to our facilities with their driver. We will continue to have snacks outdoors so we can enjoy the sun and the fresh air. Students will go with their teachers into their classrooms around 3:20 and the scheduled programming begins at 3:30. Typically the afternoon will include an hour of homework time during which either school homework or our classroom packet can be done. Each day will vary thereafter with other academic and enrichment activities such as journal writing, reading comprehension, math (and mental math), science, art, cooking, music, building challenges, current events, fitness, and project-based learning activities. Our kindergarteners enjoy our one of a kind Music and Theatre program. Offerings will differ by grade based on student interest and teacher input. The official hourly class schedule will be available by September 2025 as we test and switch things around to make it work for everyone. Other enrichment programs such as Chess, Lego Robotics & Engineering. We also welcomed RSM to our campus last Fall. CLASS SIZE We will have a maximum of 20 students per class on any day. We reserve the right to combine grade levels in a class if class minimum of 12 students is not met. COVID PROCEDURES We will align with FUSD and Alameda County of Education Guidelines. The safety of our staff, students, and their families is our top priority. TRANSPORTATION We have drivers we trust who have been helping us through the years. We will send an email in the summer to determine everyone’s driver needs. Students from any school may join us as long as transportation arrangements can be made. For some schools, parents may need to find their own driver. At this time, we can only secure drivers for Gomes/Chadbourne/Mission Valley/Parkmont elementary schools. We cannot guarantee drivers for any other schools but we will communicate clearly with you and do our best to help you. Driver fees will be determined in July 2025 after looking at registration numbers and the cost of gas in the summer. All fees are to be paid directly to drivers. No refunds for missed rides for any reason initiated by students/parents. CANCELLING YOUR ENROLLMENT All parents will need to agree that they understand the cancellation fee structure below (via Docusign) before registration can be considered complete. Once a roster spot has been granted, the registration fee is non-refundable. Cancelling before Thursday, August 1, 2025: $250 cancellation fee. 50% of the remaining tuition will be refunded and the rest will be applied as credit for future services. Cancelling Thursday, August 1, 2025 to Monday August 11, 2025: $500 cancellation fee. 100% of the remaining will be applied as credit for future services. Cancelling after school starts on Tuesday August 12, 2025 – Friday September 5, 2025: 18 school days notice required before the last day of enrollment. Tuition and driver fees must be paid in full for the 18 school days even if the student no longer attends during those days. Cancelling after September 5, 2025: 10 school days notice required before the last day of enrollment. Tuition and driver fees must be paid in full for the 10 days even if the student no longer attends during the termination period.
