We are a Preschool-8th grade district specializing in educating the whole student, focusing on the academic and life skills necessary for success.  Lennox first began providing public education in 1910 with only one school—a four room, wood-frame structure with 50 students. With over 28 years of experience as an educator in various roles and capacities, I understand the importance of creating a supportive and empowering work environment for our dedicated employees. Starting this school year, all required beginning-ofthe- year forms will be completed electronically.   These forms include: Annual Notification of Parent or Guardian Handbook Emergency Contacts Student Residency Questionnaire (McKinney-Vento Act Form) Technology Use Agreement Google App Permission Photo/Video Release Walking Home from School Permission Student Medical Information   You will soon receive a separate email with your child’s name and a unique 15-character snap code. These meetings are an opportunity for families, staff, and community members to share input on the potential consolidation of schools. Since April 1, 2025, the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee has been meeting regularly to address challenges related to declining enrollment and the efficient use of district facilities. After reviewing a wide range of data, the Committee identified two schools for possible consolidation and is now seeking community feedback. The Superintendent will prepare a report with recommendations, which may include school consolidation, and present it to the Lennox School District Board of Education at the November 7th Special Board Meeting. The Board will make the final determination regarding any potential school consolidations at the December Regular Board Meeting. La Junta tomará la decisión final sobre cualquier posible consolidación de escuelas en la Reunión Ordinaria de la Junta de diciembre.   Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)    FAQs (English) FAQs (Spanish)   November 18, 2025 Board Meeting Response to Public Comments in reference to the District not being under Financial Distress :   On November 7, 2025, the Lennox School District conducted a Special Board Meeting to discuss and inform the Board of Education of the District's School Consolidation Initiative - specifically the potential closure of Felton Elementary School.  The Superintendent provided the Board with a presentation covering all aspects of the School Consolidation Initiative, to include information on AB1912 as well as the District's current financial challenges.  According to Assembly Bill 1912 (September 6, 2022), school districts under financial distress , as defined by California Education Code 41329(b), and planning a consolidation/closure initiative, are required to provide an equity impact analysis.    Subsequently, the Attorney General of California Letter (April 11, 2023), also recommends as a best practice that school districts planning for a school consolidation/closure initiative, even if they are not under financial distress, as defined by California Education Code 41329(b), to conduct an equity impact analysis.   California Education Code 41329 (b) defines Financial Distress as: a school district with an emergency apportionment (loan) and an appointed trustee or administrator appointed to oversee the district.     The Lennox School District does not have an emergency apportionment (loan) or an appointed trustee or administrator appointed to oversee the district, and thus does not meet the requirements for a financially distressed school district.  However, as explained in the presentation at the Special Board Meeting on November 7th, Lennox School District does have its share of budget challenges that are currently being addressed.  Those challenges are: Declining Enrollment, in which the District is losing an average of $2.7 million of annual revenue Projected deficit spending (Expenditures greater than Revenues) in all three years of the Multi-Year Projections A declining General Fund ending fund balance The District is barely meeting its 3% reserve requirement for economic uncertainties, as required by AB1200 Communication from the Los Angeles County Office of Education cautioning the District about its financial difficulties. In conclusion, if the District does not address these issues, financial distress could become a reality.     March 28, 2025 Dear Lennox Parents and Community Members, The purpose of this communication is to provide information regarding the District’s future use of its school site facilities in response to ongoing enrollment declines. Since the 2014-15 school year, the Lennox School District (LSD) has experienced a loss of approximately 1,100 students. Projections indicate an additional decline of 400 students by the 2026-27 school year, bringing the total loss to approximately 1,500 students—nearly one-third of the District’s student population. California’s overall population decline has contributed to this trend.
