Complete care for everyone
We fully understand that many people are anxious about visiting the dentist. Since we don’t want fear to hold you back from getting the dental care you need, we offer sedation dentistry to improve your experience. Sedation dentistry allows you to relax while we perform a dental treatment. At the same time, you will remain conscious and aware of your surroundings. Instead of avoiding dental procedures, ask us about sedation dentistry.
Oral Conscious Sedation
With oral conscious sedation, your anxiety will decrease and you’ll feel comfortable during your dental treatment. Rest assured, you will stay conscious throughout the procedure. With this type of sedation, we provide medication that relaxes your body and mind. If you undergo this type of sedation procedure, we ask that you have someone else drive you on the day of your treatment. Nonetheless, the effects of the sedation do not linger, so you will feel alert and back to your normal state again soon after treatment.
Nitrous Oxide
We are proud to offer nitrous oxide– often referred to as laughing gas– as a sedation option. This type of sedation also helps you relax if you are nervous about a procedure or a regular visit to the dentist. For the most part, people can drive themselves after recovering from having nitrous oxide gas.

Options for Missing Teeth Advantages of Dental Implants New Teeth in One Day Dental Implant Fixes Contact Advantages of Dental Implants DENTAL IMPLANTS: THE LEADING-EDGE SOLUTION FOR MISSING TEETH A Minimally Invasive Procedure Upgrade from Traditional Dentures The Disadvantages of Dentures The Dangers of Dentures Who are candidates for Dental Implants? WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT? A dental implant is comprised of three components: a titanium post that is anchored into the jawbone to replace the missing tooth root, a restoration that replaces the missing crown of the tooth, and an abutment that connects these two. Dental implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, or to provide support for bridges or dentures when several or all teeth are missing. THE MODERN SOLUTION Most dental professionals agree that dental implants are the modern solution for replacing missing teeth. They are preferable to dental bridges when replacing a single missing tooth and provide support for dentures when needed for replacing all natural teeth. Here are some benefits of dental implants: Implants are the strongest and longest-lasting replacement for missing teeth. Implants deter or prevent bone loss that occurs when teeth are lost. They preserve facial structures collapsing due to bone loss. Implants let you talk, chew and exert pressure just like with natural teeth. Implants look, feel and act like natural teeth. People usually don’t notice any difference. Implants don’t require alteration to the structure of adjacent teeth, as with traditional dental bridges. By filling the gap, they keep adjacent teeth stable and prevent bacteria from accumulating that would lead to gum disease. TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS FOR A MINIMALLY INVASIVE PROCEDURE Advancements in dental technology have given Dr. Meserkhani the ability to precisely plan your dental implant surgery in advance. He can locate viable bone, create surgical guides which determine the exact angle your implant should be placed at. This comprehensive pre-planning makes the actual implant surgery a minimally invasive procedure with little to no post-operative discomfort. A VIABLE UPGRADE FROM TRADITIONAL DENTURES Historically, the only answer to multiple, or all, missing teeth was wearing dentures. Although dentures can be more affordable, and may still be the solution of choice for people who are afraid of, or ineligible for, surgery, they are no longer the only option. There are now many alternatives for replacing missing teeth, and our doctors are very experienced, and well equipped to offer additional solutions. THE DISADVANTAGES OF DENTURES Dentures have only 10% or less of normal chewing power, making it difficult to eat a variety of nutritious foods Dentures require the use of adhesives Dentures need to be removed for cleaning Dentures cover the roof of your palate, interfering with your sense of taste Dentures can cause embarrassing clicking while eating or speaking Dentures encourage bone loss in the jawbone THE DANGERS OF DENTURES AND LEAVING TEETH MISSING 1. WHEN A TOOTH IS LOST OR EXTRACTED, THE BONE BENEATH THE MISSING TOOTH BEGINS TO ATROPHY. In the first year after a tooth is lost, 25% of the bone volume is reabsorbed back into the body. This process continues until potentially only the hard basal bone of the jawbone is left. Dentures accelerate this bone loss process by aggravating the boney ridges where teeth sit, wearing them down. This loss of bone in the jawbone eventually causes collapse of the facial muscles around the jaw. The height between the tip of the nose and the chin progressively decreases, causing the lower third of the face to collapse. This collapse inwards into the face which also creates excessive wrinkles around the mouth, drooping jowls, sagging skin and thinning lips. The chin becomes more pointed. A person’s appearance can be aged many years as a result. 2. DENTURES PROVIDE ONLY 10% OF NATURAL CHEWING POWER. Many denture wearers are forced to avoid foods such as crunchy fruits, vegetables and nuts, and can’t chew meats. Avoiding the foods you need to maintain a balanced diet can lead to malnutrition. 3. DUE TO THE CONTINUOUS LOSS OF BONE, DENTURES EASILY LOSE THEIR FIT. This can cause denture sores and painful chewing. WHO ARE CANDIDATES FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS? Denture wearers or people who have had missing teeth for a long time suffer from bone loss in the ridges that normally support the tooth roots. In the past people with insufficient bone have been refused dental implant treatment. Now, with advanced bone grafting technology, plus the ability to locate available bone through 3D imaging technology, the majority of people can receive implants regardless of the volume of bone. People with certain health conditions such as diabetes or habits such as smoking were previously not considered candidates for implants because of the potential risk of failure of the implant or of infection. With recent developments in technology these people can now be safely treated. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. Request an appointment today! Options for Missing Teeth Advantages of Dental Implants New Teeth in One Day Dental Implant Fixes Contact Sinus Bone Augmentation Sinus bone augmentation adds grafted bone to your upper jaw to accommodate a sturdy implant that can last you the rest of your life. The skilled dentists and oral surgeons at LA Dentists Group in Pasadena and Glendale, California, routinely perform this procedure prior to implant surgery for patients who are missing one or more teeth. To find out if you need a sinus bone augmentation, call LA Dentists Group or request an appointment online today. request an appointment What is sinus bone augmentation? Sinus bone augmentation is a surgery to add grafting material — whether artificial, donor bone, animal bone, or your own bone — to your upper jaw. This is to prepare your jaw to accommodate a dental implant, which can last for the rest of your life. Implants are strong and last for decades because your bone integrates with them to hold them sturdy. The team at LA Dentists Group uses multiple techniques for sinus lifts, but the most common one involves placing the bone graft into the lower part of your enlarged sinus cavity. Once the bone graft is in place, it stimulates the real bone around it to regenerate new bone, which then fuses with the graft. How will I know if I need sinus bone augmentation? Not every person who gets a dental implant in their upper jawbone needs a dental implant. Throughout the detailed planning process for your restorative treatment, the LA Dentists Group team takes X-rays for a full view of your jawbone as well as the roots of your teeth and your sinus cavity. You need a sinus bone augmentation if you experience jawbone recession. This often happens after you lose one of your natural teeth and its root. The roots of your teeth anchor them into your jawbone and help hold the jawbone’s structure. When you lose a tooth and its root, the jawbone slowly deteriorates in that section. You can also experience jawbone recession because of gum disease or trauma, which may also qualify you for a sinus bone augmentation. How should I prepare for sinus bone augmentation? You can take several steps to prepare for a sinus bone augmentation after your detailed treatment consultation at LA Dentists Group. The team advises you on what you need to do according to your specific circumstances, such as: Stopping smoking Adjusting or halting certain medications Avoiding certain supplements Fasting (if you’re getting general anesthesia) Dressing comfortably The team also informs you of the aftercare you need and how long you can expect your recovery to take when you follow instructions closely. If you’re getting a dental implant and need to find out if a sinus bone augmentation is necessary, call LA Dentists Group or request an appointment online today. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. When it does and is left untreated, permanent tooth loss can occur. At LA Dentists Group in Pasadena and Glendale, California, the exceptional team of cosmetic and prosthodontic dentists offers bone grafting to increase the volume and strength of your jawbone. This allows you to receive dental implants if you choose. Call the office to learn more about bone grafting or request an appointment online today. request an appointment What is bone grafting? Bone grafting is a dental procedure in which your dentist increases the quality and quantity of your jawbone. If the bone in your jaw has reduced or weakened, it can’t properly support natural teeth or dental implants. The LA Dentists Group team specializes in bone grafting and placing dental implants in patients 12 and older. What are the risk factors for jawbone loss? The risk factors for having a weakened or reduced jawbone include gum disease, tooth decay, older age, and trauma. Seeing your dentist regularly for professional teeth cleanings, brushing your teeth after meals, flossing daily, and limiting sugar-sweetened foods and drinks can reduce your risk of gum disease and bone loss. Is bone grafting right for me? Your LA Dentists Group provider determines if you’re a candidate for bone grafting after reviewing your oral health history, completing an oral health exam, and evaluating the results of recent dental X-rays. They also discuss your desired results before customizing your treatment. How does bone grafting work? The LA Dentists Group specialists complete bone grafting using various methods. They insert grafting materials into the affected bone to stimulate your body’s natural ability to regenerate tissues. These bone grafts might come from a tissue bank, your own bone, bone tissue from animals, or synthetic materials. Over time, your body absorbs the grafting materials as jawbone cells replicate. Your provider may complete socket preservation after tooth extraction to increase bone growth volume and prepare for future dental implant placement. Dental implants are metal posts that attach to your jawbone and anchor artificial teeth. What happens during bone grafting procedures? Your LA Dentists Group provider usually completes bone grafting under local anesthesia. They offer sedation dentistry to help you feel more relaxed before inserting bone-grafting materials into your jaw, along with a dental implant in some cases. At other times, you must wait for jaw tissue to heal before receiving dental implants. What should I expect after bone grafting? Over the next few months, jawbone growth occurs. When healing is complete, you can undergo the next stage of a restorative dental treatment. This may involve dental implant placement or other treatments that perfect the look and function of your smile. The Invisalign system uses comfortable clear aligners to move crooked teeth into a desirable position without metal brackets or wires. LA Dentists Group provides this service to adults and teenagers who have mild to moderate orthodontics issues. The practice also offers traditional braces. What are the benefits of Invisalign? The benefits associated with choosing Invisalign at LA Dentists Group include: No more gaps Straighter teeth Bite improvements Beautiful smile Easier teeth cleaning Improved overall oral health Self-confidence Invisalign can treat widely spaced teeth, crossbites, overbites, underbites, open bites, or overly crowded teeth. Invisalign has a proven 15-year record of success in adults and teenagers. Many patients prefer it to the metal brackets and wires associated with braces; Invisalign aligners are smooth, comfortable, and removable. The LA Dentists Group specialists have many years of experience using Invisalign to perfect patients’ smiles. Is Invisalign right for me? To find out if Invisalign is the right treatment for you, an LA Dentists Group provider evaluates your gums, bite, and teeth. They review the results of your dental X-rays, as well as your desired results, before tailoring a personalized orthodontic treatment plan just for you. What should I expect during my treatment? During Invisalign treatment, your LA Dentists Group provider digitally scans your mouth, allowing the dental lab to develop a series of custom-fitted clear aligners. For the most efficient and effective treatment, you wear the aligners 20-22 hours daily for 1-2 weeks, and then switch to the next set of aligners in the series. Remove your aligners to brush your teeth, floss, and eat. Invisalign treatment may take about a year to complete, but every patient is different. See the LA Dentists Group as needed throughout your Invisalign treatment to ensure it works effectively. Your orthodontics specialist will let you know when to schedule your next follow-up visit. Options for Missing Teeth Advantages of Dental Implants New Teeth in One Day Dental Implant Fixes Contact Extractions Tooth extractions can resolve various oral health problems or prepare you for braces, All-on-4®, and other dental treatments. At the LA Dentists Group in Pasadena and Glendale, California, skilled dentists and oral surgeons perform simple and surgical tooth extractions to safely remove particular teeth from your mouth. Find out what to expect from your tooth extraction by scheduling an appointment over the phone or requesting one online at LA Dentists Group today. request an appointment What are extractions? Tooth extractions are procedures that remove a tooth in its entirety from your mouth. While often not a first choice for treatment, extractions can ultimately benefit your oral health and are sometimes the best choice for treatment. They also sometimes serve preventive purposes. According to the circumstances around your extraction, you might need: A simple extraction Simple extractions happen with few complication risks and no need for scalpels. They involve local anesthesia, and you can choose whether you want sedation. A surgical extraction Surgical extractions are a bit more complex and involve a scalpel to cut into the gums for better access to the tooth or its fragments. This is the preferred option for impacted teeth. When are extractions necessary? There are a few reasons why the team at LA Dentists Group might recommend a tooth extraction as part of your treatment or care plan. Sometimes, teeth need to be extracted because they have health issues themselves. In other cases, teeth must be removed because of crowding or not enough space in your mouth. LA Dentists Group routinely performs extractions for: Severe tooth decay Damage from periodontal disease Impacted teeth Wisdom teeth After extractions, your treatment at LA Dentists Group might continue with individual dental implants, All-on-4®, braces, or full mouth rehabilitation. How should I prepare for an extraction? The preparation required for a tooth extraction depends on the type of extraction, simple or surgical. In any case, the LA Dentists Group team makes sure you know what to expect before, during, and after the procedure. After your consultation for a tooth extraction, you might need to prepare for the procedure by: Getting X-rays Stopping the use of certain medications and supplements Stopping smoking Dressing comfortably for the procedure Arranging a ride home Preparing your home for the recovery period For your recovery, you might need ice packs, soft foods, salt water, and over-the-counter pain relievers. Only use medications according to your dentist’s recommendations. If a tooth extraction is something you might need to preserve or improve your oral health, call LA Dentists Group or request an appointment online today. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. Options for Missing Teeth Advantages of Dental Implants New Teeth in One Day Dental Implant Fixes Contact LANAP LANAP® FOR A MINIMALLY INVASIVE ALTERNATIVE TO GUM SURGERY LANAP is an FDA-approved procedure that is used to treat moderate to severe gum disease. Unlike traditional surgery that involves a scalpel, this minimally invasive treatment uses a precisely focused laser that targets only the diseased tissue while leaving the healthy gum tissue intact. The laser removes harmful bacteria and at the same time promotes healing by utilizing the body’s own ability to seal the healthy gum tissue back to the root of the tooth once the procedure is complete. Dr. Arbi Daniel Aboolian is highly trained and experienced in providing LANAP therapy to gently and effectively combat gum disease, and he is excellent at keeping his patients comfortable throughout the procedure. BENEFITS OF LANAP LANAP has many advantages over traditional surgery. It is much less traumatic and invasive as there is no cutting, bleeding or stitching. LANAP treatment is less time-consuming. While traditional surgery requires four to eight visits as well as additional appointments for suture removal and check-ups, LANAP can be completed in two 2-hour visits and two follow-up visits. The recovery time for LANAP is typically under 24 hours, and most patients are able to eat whatever they want following the procedure. Dr. Aboolian recommends LANAP because its minimally invasive nature promotes the maximum preservation of your original gum tissue. Even patients with health issues such as diabetes, HIV and hemophilia, as well as those taking blood-thinning medications, can receive LANAP. Laser surgery has been found to provide long-lasting results. A study showed that 98% of patients who receive LANAP remain stable five years after their treatment. LANAP PROCEDURE Dr. Aboolian will perform an oral exam to assess the extent of the gum disease and to determine whether you’re a candidate for LANAP. He will take the needed time to discuss your concerns, explain your treatment options and answer any questions. If necessary, he will take digital X-rays of your mouth to get an accurate picture of its condition. Dr. Aboolian will explain the procedure so you know what to expect on the day of your treatment. LANAP TREATMENT DAY When you arrive for your first LANAP treatment, Dr. Aboolian will administer a local anesthetic to eliminate any discomfort. He then uses a soft-tissue laser to eradicate the diseased tissue and kill the bacteria beneath the gumline, keeping the healthy gum intact. Next, Dr. Aboolian uses an ultrasonic scaler to remove tartar from the root surfaces. Finally, the laser is passed over the treated area again to remove any remaining bacteria and to seal the gum pocket. This prevents new germs from entering the area and creates a sanitary environment so that the body can start the healing process. The procedure is fast and can be broken down into two 2-hour sessions or scheduled as a single 4-hour session. Most people can go back to work on the following day. Options for Missing Teeth Advantages of Dental Implants New Teeth in One Day Dental Implant Fixes Contact Dental Implant Fixes EXPERT TREATMENT FOR COMPLICATIONS WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS Peri-Implantitis Diagnostic Consultation How We Treat Peri-Implantitis Correcting Damaged Dental Restorations Do you need dental implant fixes? Dr. Meserkhani is an expert in the placement of dental implants. He has placed thousands of implants over the years and is a Diplomate of the American Board or Oral Implantology, a prestigious status only awarded to 400 dentists nationwide thus far. Complications with implants are quite rare, but when they do arise, Dr. Meserkhani has the skills to provide treatment. He will save your existing implant if possible, and if it is beyond rescue, he can replace your faulty implant with a new, healthy and functioning one. PERI-IMPLANTITIS: THE MOST COMMON DENTAL IMPLANT ISSUE Peri-implantitis, like periodontitis (gum disease), is a bacterial infection that affects surrounding gum and bone tissue, causing it to eventually dissolve away. While periodontitis affects natural teeth, gums and bone, peri-implantitis affects the site of a dental implant. Early warning signs of peri-implantitis include red, swollen gums and bleeding when gums are probed. If left untreated, peri-implantitis can result in bone loss around the implant, which makes the implant become unstable or even come loose. CONSULTATION TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF PERI-IMPLANTITIS The first step in treating a post-implant complication is to determine the underlying cause and the severity of the issue. Peri-implantitis is usually caused by a complex series of elements that may include the following: Poor hygiene by the patient Lack of regular professional maintenance of the dental implant Heavy smoking and/or drinking by the patient Improper placement of the implant post or restoration Cement used to secure the restoration (crown, bridge, denture) slipped under the gum Undiagnosed periodontal disease was present prior to and during the implant procedure Dental decay near the implant that has not been treated All of these aspects must be explored for an accurate diagnosis, and to ensure the best course of action. EXAMINATION FOR SYMPTOMS OF PERI-IMPLANTITIS Dr. Meserkhani will do a thorough oral examination to check for changes in the color of your gums, thinning of gum tissues and signs of infection such as redness or swelling. He will gently probe the pockets between the gums and teeth to check their depth, and obtain X-rays that will show if there is any loss of bone around the implant. HOW WE TREAT PERI-IMPLANTITIS Our first step is to assess the severity of the condition. Dr. Meserkhani needs to determine whether the implant can be saved without compromising your overall oral health, or whether the implant needs to be removed and the entire area treated. It is not uncommon for patients who are referred to us, and have had their implants placed by another dental professional, to have a generalized periodontal problem. In these cases it is vital for all gum tissue to be returned to full health, and Dr. Meserkhani will treat your entire mouth, not just the infected implant. Where there is gum disease surrounding an implant, we use a procedure called LAPIP (Laser Assisted Peri-Implantitis Procedure). A laser is used to kill the bacteria, remove infected tissue and to promote healing of the gum tissue. Where bone has been lost, we use the laser around the implants to help stimulate new bone growth. CLEANING AND BONE GRAFTING When there is a more severe infection present, Dr. Meserkhani may find it to be necessary to remove the crown (or other restoration), open up the gum, and then gently and thoroughly clean and disinfect the area.If extensive bone has been lost, Dr. Meserkhani will use bone graft material mixed with proteins to stimulate the regeneration of bone. REMOVING AND REPLACING AN IMPLANT In some cases, a dental implant simply must be removed for the overall health of your mouth. An implant may have been poorly placed, was not the appropriate size or length, or there may be other factors that necessitate its removal. When an implant is removed, bone is often taken with it, and bone grafting is required. After the bone has regenerated and the area has healed, Dr. Meserkhani will properly place a new implant post and give you a healthy, functioning new replacement tooth. CORRECTING DAMAGED IMPLANT RESTORATIONS If you are having problems with the restorations on top of your implants (such as crowns, bridges or dentures), we can help. As a prosthodontist—a recognized dental specialist in the aesthetic restoration and replacement of teeth—Dr. Meserkhani is highly skilled in crafting, repairing and replacing dental restorations, including those that are supported by dental implants. As part of his advanced prosthodontic training, Dr. Meserkhani has received specialized education in proper bite alignment and the correct functioning of the jaw joint (TMJ). He can resolve any issues you may be having with the way your teeth come together, and he can ensure that any new replacement teeth will fit properly and result in good, comfortable bite alignment. Dr. Meserkhani can evaluate your existing restorations and let you know what course of action he recommends. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. At LA Dentists Group, the team of practitioners uses cutting-edge Zoom! technology to whiten teeth with trays, whitening gel, and an LED light. At-home, professional-strength teeth whitening using Zoom! kits are also available. What are the benefits of Zoom! teeth whitening? The main benefits of completing teeth whitening at LA Dentists Group include whiter teeth, a brighter smile, and a boost in self-confidence. Zoom! whitening is painless, noninvasive, and dramatically enhances the appearance of your smile and quality of life. What causes teeth staining? Lifestyle habits, foods, and drinks can all cause tooth staining. Examples include: Smoking Poor oral hygiene Some medications Skipped dental cleanings Red wine Coffee Tea Cola Dark juices Popsicles® Tomato sauce Soy sauce Older age is also a risk factor for tooth staining and discoloration. While eating nutritious foods, not smoking, and adopting good brushing habits at home can reduce the chance of tooth staining, it often still occurs over time. Is Zoom! teeth whitening right for me? If you have stained teeth, you’re a candidate for Zoom! teeth whitening at LA Dentists Group. Your dentist reviews your oral health history, examines your gums and teeth, and reviews the results of your most recent dental X-rays. They also discuss your lifestyle habits, preferences, and goals before personalizing your treatment plan. What should I expect during teeth whitening? During Zoom! teeth whitening, you have the option of in-office whitening or an at-home whitening kit. In-office sessions may take about 45 minutes. Your provider applies whitening gel to your teeth then uses an LED light to activate and speed up the whitening, making your teeth many shades whiter at the end of each session. You can whiten your teeth at home too, but it may take multiple treatments to match the results of in-office whitening treatments. Keep your teeth as white as possible between whitening sessions by brushing your teeth after meals with whitening toothpaste or mouthwash if your dentist recommends it, flossing daily, and going to professional teeth cleaning appointments at least once every six months. Gum disease, which is also called periodontal disease, is a chronic infection that can affect the soft tissues in your mouth. Healthy gums are pink and have no signs of inflammation, and you can keep them that way with diligent oral hygiene practices like brushing, flossing, and visiting the dentist for cleanings every six months. You develop gum disease over time as bacteria builds up on the surfaces of your teeth and along your gumline. Eventually, the infection can worsen to the point of damaging the soft tissue and starting to destroy the underlying bone too. Fortunately, gum disease and its complications are preventable. LA Dentists Group helps you get a handle on your oral health and hygiene so you can avoid severe gum disease. They can also provide the most advanced treatments available for gum disease at any stage. Am I a candidate for gum disease treatment? When gum disease first starts, it’s in a mild stage called gingivitis that you can easily reverse by committing to your oral hygiene. However, if the disease progresses, you need more advanced care. Gum disease treatment can reverse periodontal disease symptoms such as: Swollen gums Bright red gums Painful chewing Tooth sensitivity Gums that bleed a lot Loose adult teeth Gum recession New gaps between teeth The team recommends gum disease treatments based on the progression of the disease and the severity of your symptoms. How does gum disease treatment work? LA Dentists Group relies on several treatments for gum disease, including a couple of the most advanced options available today. Your personalized gum disease treatment might involve: Scaling and root planing Scaling and root planing removes bacteria from your teeth using an ultrasonic scaler before helping your gum tissue reattach to any exposed roots of your teeth. A gum graft may be necessary if too much root is exposed. Arestin® therapy Arestin therapy uses tiny particles, known as microspheres, to release antibiotics in your mouth and fight the gum tissue infection. Laser-assisted new attachment procedure (LANAP®) LANAP can treat moderate to severe gum disease by removing harmful bacteria with a laser while promoting tissue healing. Unlike traditional gum surgery, there is no bleeding, stitching, or cutting with a scalpel. For more information about the gum disease treatments you can get at LA Dentists Group, call the office, or request an appointment online today. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. Using a revolutionary procedure that he was instrumental in developing, he places just four dental implants per arch to support a complete new set of upper and lower teeth. The most seemingly hopeless smile can be replaced with a stable and healthy one in just one day with Fix-on-Four™. The procedure provides an effective, efficient and long-lasting solution for missing teeth. Fix-on-Four takes advantage of available bone by placing four implants in strategic locations and angles. The procedure rarely requires bone grafts, and even patients who have severe bone loss as a result of years of missing teeth can benefit from the Fix-on-Four procedure. ADVANCED TRAINING AND EXPERTISE Dr. Meserkhani is a renowned expert in the fields of dental implantation and tooth restoration. He has been awarded a Diplomate from the American Board of Oral Implantology, the most difficult and prestigious certification in oral implantology. This certification has been awarded to only 400 dentists in the United States since 1969. Dr. Meserkhani also lectures both nationally and internationally on oral implantology, prosthodontics and collaborative dentistry. COMPLIMENTARY DENTAL IMPLANT CONSULTATION & $300 OFF IMPLANT PLACEMENT To determine whether you are a candidate for dental implants, Dr. Meserkhani will meet with you to review your dental and medical history, learn about your lifestyle and understand your goals for your oral health. He will listen carefully to your concerns, explain options for treatment and answer all your questions about getting dental implants. If you decide to have a complete implant procedure, you will receive a $300 discount on your implant placement! STATE-OF-THE-ART DIAGNOSTICS AND PLANNING Dr. Meserkhani’s approach to ensuring your implant-supported dentures last a lifetime is to locate a healthy foundation of bone and tissue to secure the implant posts. Highly detailed images captured by our CT cone beamer scanner show Dr. Meserkhani the quantity and quality of your existing bone, the position of your sinuses and additional information about your teeth and gums. He uses this comprehensive information, in conjunction with computer imaging and three-dimensional study models, to precisely plan the location, angle, dimension and length of your dental implants. Advanced planning, surgical guides and years of experience make the dental implant minimally invasive, with little post-operative discomfort. Over the years, Dr. Meserkhani has placed thousands of implants with a very impressive success rate of 98%. NATURAL-LOOKING & ACTING NEW TEETH Dr. Meserkhani takes meticulous measurements to create your final teeth, determining the precise shape and length that will best complement your features. He works closely with our in-house lab to select a natural-looking shade for your restoration. You will never be without teeth! While your final teeth are being fabricated, Dr. Meserkhani will fit you with natural-looking, high-grade and functional temporary teeth. Your final teeth are made with lifelike, durable acrylic and porcelain, and are designed by Dr. Meserkhani to be esthetic and comfortable, while also providing a strong bite. They look, feel and function like natural teeth! FULL-MOUTH REHABILITATION & FIX-ON-FOUR CASE Joe had a full-mouth reconstruction, with crowns, bridges and implants on top and the All-on-Four procedure on the lower arch. “I am very grateful for the full-mouth reconstruction you have done for me. Before coming to your dental office, I had lost hope of chewing food, let alone ever smiling again. I am now doing a lot of both. “You are not only the best in your fields, but also true artists in skill and temperament. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my life worth living again. I shall remember the kindness and caring and professional demeanor of all of you, as well as the excellent members of your staff. – Joe Teeth In One Day This patient received a fixed bridge on four implants for his lower arch. He also had cosmetic dentistry work done on his upper teeth to enhance his overall smile. Tooth In One Day or Immediate Loading The patient in this case, received an implant and a fixed bridge at the same time. This procedure is called immediate loading or “tooth in a day.” The procedure allows the patient to leave the practice with a fixed prosthesis at the time of placement. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. Call the office to learn more or request an appointment online today. request an appointment What are dental implants? Dental implants are titanium posts that anchor artificial teeth, such as bridges, crowns, and dentures. LA Dentists Group offers All-on-4® same-day dental implants, so you don’t have to go without teeth after your dentist places implants in your jaw. Why are dental implants beneficial? The many benefits associated with dental implants at LA Dentists Group include: Whiter, stronger, brighter smile No more gaps Adjacent teeth don’t shift Clearer speech Easier chewing Self-confidence Dental implants are long-lasting, natural-looking, and strong. They function just like real teeth and make your smile beautiful. Are dental implants the right treatment for me? An LA Dentists Group provider will examine your teeth and gums and take dental X-rays to determine which dental implants are best for you. You might first need bone grafting or tooth extractions. Some patients need dental implants to replace all of their natural teeth, while others just need a few implants to fill in gaps left by missing permanent teeth. What should I expect when receiving dental implants? Your LA Dentists Group specialist first numbs the treatment area and offers a sedative to relax you. They make a tiny incision in your gums, insert tiny posts into your jaw, and close the incisions. You might get All-on-4 teeth the same day as dental implant placement, or wait until the implants heal before receiving artificial teeth. When the new custom-fitted teeth are ready, your specialist securely attaches them to the implants so you can enjoy a beautiful smile and a full set of beautiful, functional, and natural-looking teeth. How should I take care of my new implants? To properly care for your new dental implants, it’s important to avoid chewing on hard objects, such as hard candy and ice. See your dentist every six months for professional cleanings and exams, and call the LA Dentists Group office if your dental implants get damaged. Don’t forget to brush your teeth after meals and floss every day. Raised in a family with a legacy of dental professionals, Dr. Meserkhani spent his youth admiring the practice of dentistry. As he grew up, Dr. Meserkhani would spend his summers observing his uncle, who practiced as a general dentist, and working hands-on with his father, who owns a dental laboratory. His father and uncle instilled the love to provide compassionate care to dental patients in him from a very young age. He pursued this passion for dentistry at the University of California, San Diego, for his bachelor’s in biochemistry and cell biology. He continued to Loma Linda Dental School. Afterward, Dr. Meserkhani completed a one-year post-graduate internship in orthodontics at Roseman University of Health Sciences in Henderson, Nevada, while practicing as a general dentist. He then completed his three-year residency at the school, earning his dual degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, his specialty certificate, and his master’s in Business Administration. Not only is Dr. Meskerhani highly skilled in the latest technologies in orthodontics, but he also has a radiant personality that makes orthodontist visits fun and relaxing. When not treating patients, Dr. Meserkhani is a sports enthusiast, coaching a local basketball league and supporting the AYSO soccer team. At LA Dentists Group in Pasadena and Glendale, California, you can get a porcelain crown or bridge that meets your needs and restores your bite. For more information on crowns and bridges, request a consultation online or over the phone today. request an appointment What are crowns? Crowns are a type of tooth restoration that can cap a weak or damaged tooth. They can also attach to individual dental implants to replace a missing tooth and fill a gap in your smile. Your dentist creates your crown to look almost identical to the natural tooth in its original state and makes sure it feels comfortable in your bite. LA Dentists Group offers custom-made porcelain crowns to treat various oral health problems and concerns. You might benefit from a crown to: Protect a weak tooth from further damage Cover a large filling Replace a tooth with a dental implant Improve the aesthetic appearance of your smile Correct a poor bite There are plenty of reasons why you might benefit from a crown, and your dentist lets you know why they believe a porcelain crown is your best choice. Porcelain mimics the natural appearance of your teeth and can be matched to their color. What are bridges? Bridges are often grouped with dental crowns because they include crowns. A bridge is a restorative dental device that uses one or two crowns, or a metal framework, to anchor a fake tooth called a pontic in your smile’s gap. In other words, a bridge “bridges” the gap. Getting a bridge involves a planning and fabrication process similar to getting a crown. The team at LA Dentists Group takes digital impressions of your smile and prepares the teeth that need crowns by removing some of their enamel. When your bridge is ready, the team places it and makes sure it fits correctly while serving its function. They might make a few final adjustments before cementing the bridge into place. How long do crowns and bridges last? As long as you take great care of them and of your oral health in general, your porcelain crown or bridge from LA Dentists Group can last for at least a decade, but usually longer. Taking care of your crown or bridge isn’t much different from taking care of your natural teeth, and you’ll need to continue brushing and flossing daily and seeing your dentist every six months. To avoid breaking a crown or bridge before its time is up, you should avoid biting down on solid objects like seeds or hard candies. You should also never use your teeth to tear through fabric, cardboard, or any other materials where scissors can and should do the job. Call LA Dentists Group today or request an appointment online to explore the benefits of custom crowns and bridges today. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. Our dental lab, Glendale Implant & Esthetic (GIE), is located right in the same building as our practice. We have 10 highly trained lab technicians and offer the highest quality restorations with very fast turnaround times. Having a dental lab on the premises allows our doctors to ensure your dental restoration looks natural and aesthetic and fits perfectly. The lab makes treatment faster, allowing patients to walk out with great-looking, functional provisional teeth in one day, and it makes same-day teeth procedures possible. It also allows for more accurate results as there is no chance of alteration of the composition of the restorations during transportation. Experience you can trust Our lab is run by Allen Meserkhani, brother of Dr. Meserkhani, who is a Certified Dental Technician with over 30 years of experience. Many of the working technicians have over twenty years experience. They combine modern dental technology with artful craftsmanship to create lifelike, well-fitting and functional restorations. Dr. Arbi Aboolian coordinates between the dental office and the dental lab and specializes in lab-related procedures such as dental implants and teeth restoration. As well as being an accomplished general dentist, Dr. Aboolian has special training in dental laboratory techniques. He is a Certified Dental Technician and has worked in dental laboratories that focused on implant-supported teeth for 11 years. His work makes for a smooth coordination between our doctors and our lab, resulting in the highest quality in tooth restorations. Customizing your restoration Our lab technicians work with our doctors to create your restoration following the doctor’s exact instructions. Having a lab on the premises also means patients can communicate directly with the lab technicians about the color, shade and shape of their new teeth. Since the lab is right on the premises, any adjustments to the restorations can be made quickly and easily. Welcoming and comfortable environment Our lab is designed to be a friendly, pleasant environment. You can sit with the lab technician as he or she puts the finishing touches on your restoration. This also gives the advantage of the technician being able to accurately match the shade of your new restoration to your other teeth. You can read about some of the equipment we use to care for your teeth and gums below. SURGICAL GUIDES Using images captured by our CT scanner, surgical guides are fabricated that identify the exact location where dental implants are to be placed. DIODE LASER Our doctors also use the State-of-the-Art Kavo diode laser for pocket disinfection. This laser effectively kills harmful bacteria that can cause gum disease, and can also be used to treat inflamed or bleeding gums. PLATELETS RICH IN GROWTH FACTORS To accelerate recovery time, our doctors can harness the growth factors from a patient’s own blood by using an in-house centrifuge and lab. This greatly reduces the time needed for the gums to heal. EMDOGAIN TISSUE REGENERATION Our doctors will often use State-of-the-Art Emdogain® growth proteins when treating tissue loss due to gum disease. This advanced regeneration formula promotes both soft tissue and hard tissue regrowth, and has been scientifically proven to help rejuvenate difficult or problematic areas affected by periodontal disease. INTRAORAL PHOTOGRAPHY Intraoral cameras are small handheld digital cameras that project an enlarged image of the inside of your mouth onto a computer screen. We use intraoral photography as an exam, treatment planning, and educational tool for our patients. COMPUTER IMAGING We use State-of-the-Art digital photography and special software to visualize your cosmetic makeover before beginning any treatment. You and your doctor can use this tool to manipulate the final image, ensuring that your new smile is just what you had in mind. ULTRASONIC SCALER Ultrasonic scalers use high-frequency vibrations in combination with a water flow to gently and effectively remove deep stains, plaque and tartar. The tiny tip allows for comfortable access to the roots when deeper cleaning is needed. Overall, ultrasonic scalers make cleanings faster and more efficient. ARESTIN ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY After a deep cleaning, our doctors will often apply Arestin antibiotic therapy to your gum pockets. Arestin is a time-released topical antibiotic that targets gum disease-causing bacteria. This treatment can greatly reduce the chances of gum disease returning or worsening in the future. ZOOM Zoom! WhiteSpeed is a scientifically advanced laser teeth-whitening procedure that is applied in our office. It’s the perfect affordable, convenient solution for people seeking immediate results. Now with the most advanced Light Emitting Diode (LED) whitening technology, the results are even better than ever. PIEZOTOME This ultrasonic generator can be set to use a wavelength that bypasses soft-tissues, such as membranes and blood vessels, and only cuts the hard-tissues of the tooth. Our doctors use the Piezotome for procedures such as bone grafting and sinus lifts, extractions and occasionally during implant procedures. The Piezotome creates very thin, precise incisions that make healing faster, and with little to no postoperative pain. RADIOSURGERY Radiosurgery uses a tiny wavelength to create delicate incisions without expanding heat to outlying areas. The fine radio wavelengths are more accurate than most lasers and promote fast healing rates. Our doctors use this tool during surgery and to precisely sculpt the gum tissue for many procedures, such as crown lengthening. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. Our highly trained, experienced doctors will conduct a gentle, thorough examination of your entire mouth that includes your gums, teeth, bone structure, lymph nodes and jaw joints. They will listen carefully to your concerns, answer any questions you may have and explain all procedures thoroughly OUR NEW PATIENT EXAM PROCEDURE GETTING TO KNOW YOU AND YOUR DENTAL GOALS We will review your dental and medical history, and discuss your goals for your oral health and smile with you. DIGITAL X-RAYS Digital X-rays emit 80% less radiation than traditional film X-rays and provide detailed, crisp images. They allow our doctors to detect any issues with your teeth and gums that can’t always be observed during a visual examination, such as decay beneath a filling, bone loss, infections or abscesses in a root canal and abnormal growths. INTRAORAL CAMERA Our doctors use intraoral cameras that transmit images of the inside of your mouth to a monitor, allowing you to see exactly what your doctor sees while he performs his examination. COMPREHENSIVE EXAM Your doctor will evaluate your mouth on a tooth-by-tooth basis, checking for signs of decay, abnormal wear or erosion, and for gaps between your teeth where food may get trapped and lead to decay and gum disease. He will also check your jaw joints for any abnormalities in their functioning. PERIODONTAL (GUM) EVALUATION Periodontal disease has been linked to heart disease and strokes, making the health of your gums as important as the health of your teeth. Your doctor will gently probe the space between your teeth and gums to determine if there are signs of gum disease. When disease is present, gums pull away from teeth, leaving “pockets.” Deeper pockets are signs of more severe gum disease. We also evaluate your existing bone structure and assess factors that influence the predisposition for gum disease, including chronic inflammatory diseases such as diabetes and habits such as smoking. ORAL CANCER SCREENING Although oral cancer is rare, we like to err on the side of caution and conduct a thorough screening during all examinations. If anything looks suspicious, we take a swab or biopsy and send it to our state-of-the-art lab for analysis. CUSTOM TREATMENT PLAN After your examination, your doctor will discuss his findings with you and provide you with a custom treatment plan that outlines the procedures that best fit your individual needs. As always, he will explain his recommendations in detail in terms that you can understand, and he will answer any questions you may have. Options for Missing Teeth Advantages of Dental Implants New Teeth in One Day Dental Implant Fixes Contact Laser Gum Treatment Laser gum treatment can save you from serious and costly gum disease complications such as tooth loss and bone recession. At LA Dentists Group in Pasadena and Glendale, California, you can get personalized laser gum treatment that keeps all healthy nearby tissue intact. Learn more about laser gum treatment and how it works by scheduling a consultation by phone or online today. request an appointment What is laser gum treatment? Laser gum treatment, such as laser-assisted new attachment procedure (LANAP®), is an advanced treatment for moderate to severe gum disease or periodontitis. It’s FDA-approved and uses the heat and energy from a laser to alleviate bacteria and infected tissue. It’s precise enough to leave healthy nearby tissue completely intact. While traditional gum surgery involves 4-8 visits to complete, LANAP takes just two treatment visits and two follow-up visits to LA Dentists Group. During your treatment consultation, the team examines your gums and teeth. They may use X-rays to see the extent of any tissue damage from gum disease to help them decide if you’re a candidate to get laser gum treatment safely. When do I need laser gum treatment? LANAP is a go-to option for people who have moderate to severe periodontitis. After gum disease goes beyond its mild stage, which is called gingivitis, the symptoms and complications intensify. You should book an appointment and possible treatment consultation for LANAP at LA Dentists Group if you experience: Frequent gum bleeding Gum recession Pain while chewing Loose adult teeth Red and inflamed gums Bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth Gum disease is often preventable with excellent oral hygiene habits. However, you might be predisposed to it because of your genetics or other factors like hormone changes, smoking, and medications. The team at LA Dentists Group teaches you the best practices for maintaining your oral hygiene and encourages you to visit the office for cleanings and exams at least once every six months. What are the advantages of laser gum treatment? While comparing laser gum treatment with traditional gum surgery, the advantages are stark. Treating your gum disease with LANAP instead of a scalpel and other more conventional methods for severe infection allows for: No scalpels or cutting No bleeding No stitches A quicker recovery Fewer office visits No dietary restrictions after the procedure Maximum tissue preservation LANAP also offers long-lasting results and is safe for people who are experiencing various health complications, such as diabetes and hemophilia, that leave them unable to undergo traditional gum surgery. Options for Missing Teeth Advantages of Dental Implants New Teeth in One Day Dental Implant Fixes Contact All On Four All-on-4®, or teeth in a day, allows you to enjoy a full mouth of sturdy, brand-new teeth thanks to just four evenly-spaced implant posts. At LA Dentists Group in Pasadena and Glendale, California, skilled dentists and oral surgeons carefully plan your treatment and make sure the results look flawless. Schedule your consultation over the phone or request an appointment online at LA Dentists Group today. request an appointment What is All-on-4? All-on-4 is a specific denture type that can replace most or all of your teeth in your upper or lower arch. While you might need one or more extractions for any teeth remaining in the arch, All-on-4 gives you beautiful and functional results with just four implant posts. Getting All-on-4 implants is similar to getting a single dental implant. You go through the meticulous planning process and may need to get a bone graft if your jawbone isn’t dense enough to accommodate the titanium posts. All-on-4 is also called teeth in one day because the process of placing the implants and attaching the custom denture takes just one day. Your dentist surgically places four implants at even intervals across your arch. What goes into the planning for All-on-4? Planning your All-on-4 implant treatment involves advanced diagnostic and planning technology. The team at LA Dentists Group invites you in to get cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans, which produce detailed images of your mouth and jaw. Along with computer imaging and 3D models, the team plans the locations and angles for each of the four implants in your All-on-4 treatment. Your treatment also involves getting a custom denture, which the team designs according to the dimensions and appearance of your original smile. What are the advantages of All-on-4? If you’re missing every tooth in either your upper or lower arch, you have a few options for what to do next. One of those options, and perhaps the most beneficial if you’re a candidate, is All-on-4 dental implants. Other options are dentures or simply going without teeth. Some of the benefits of All-on-4 and of dental implants in general include: Stability Durability Lifelong results Restored chewing Restored speaking No dietary restrictions Natural-looking teeth Your dentist can address any cosmetic complications with natural teeth by designing your All-on-4 denture to look pristine yet natural when you grin. After you’ve had your All-on-4s for a while, you might not even notice a difference between the feel of using them versus your original teeth. At LA Dentists Group in Pasadena and Glendale, California, the team helps you decide on a form of sedation that’s suitable for the treatments or procedures you need. To explore your sedation dentistry options, call LA Dentists Group or request an appointment online today. request an appointment What is sedation dentistry? Sedation dentistry refers to various medication options available to help you relax at the dentist’s office. Many treatments are uncomfortable or intimidating for multiple reasons, but sedation can help you be more relaxed as you get the treatments and services you need. Your options for sedation dentistry at LA Dentists Group include: Intravenous (IV) sedation IV sedation uses a type of medication that enters your system through a vein, usually in one of your arms. You’re still conscious when the medication is active, but you’re deeply relaxed. It’s an excellent option for longer procedures or for multiple procedures during a single appointment. Oral sedation Oral sedation involves a sedative you take by mouth. You’re still awake under oral sedation, but you’re relaxed and free of any discomfort. General anesthesia A professional, on-staff anesthesiologist administers general anesthesia. Unlike the other choices, it makes you unconscious, and you probably won’t have any recollection of the treatment at any point. Why might I need sedation dentistry? There are multiple reasons why people consider or use sedation while getting the dental treatments and services they need. The most prevalent reason is dental anxiety, which can be debilitating enough to cause you to neglect your oral health by avoiding the procedures that scare you or seem particularly uncomfortable. You might also consider sedation if you: Have trouble sitting still for a long time Have highly sensitive teeth Have a strong gag reflex Need multiple treatments in a single sitting The team helps you choose a form of sedation that meets your needs and can alleviate your apprehensions and discomfort. How long does the sedation last? Many people wonder how long it takes for the effects of the sedative from the dentist’s office to wear off. Milder sedatives like IV sedation and oral sedation last only a few hours, so you’ll be feeling alert and capable of completing tasks in no time. Still, you should probably arrange to have the rest of the day off from responsibilities like work and school. The LA Dentists Group team lets you know exactly what you can expect based on the type of sedation you get for your dental treatment. Explore your sedation dentistry options today by scheduling a treatment consultation over the phone or online at LA Dentists Group. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. LA Dentists Group in Pasadena and Glendale, California, provide treatment for TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder) to give you relief from bite problems, jaw pain, and headaches. To find out if you can benefit from treatment for TMD and TMJ problems, call LA Dentists Group or request an appointment online today. request an appointment What are TMD and TMJ? Your temporomandibular joints (TMJ) work together to help you open and close your mouth. They’re located near your temples on either side of your face and connect your lower jawbone to the rest of your head. The alignment of these joints impacts your bite, so it’s important for them to stay in alignment and avoid damage. When one or both of these joints are damaged or dysfunctional, temporomandibular joint disorder or dysfunction (TMD) is a common result. TMD can affect the use of your jaw and often comes from nighttime or stress-related teeth grinding. You might also develop TMD due to trauma or injuries of your TMJs, a naturally misaligned bite, or joint dislocation. What are some signs of TMD and other TMJ issues? TMD has distinctive symptoms that can affect one or both of your TMJs. If you grind your teeth for a prolonged period or experience a jaw injury, the symptoms that arise afterward might include: Jaw pain Headaches Neck aches Ear ringing Earaches Trouble chewing Jaw locking Jaw grating Jaw popping Inability to open your mouth widely The team asks for details about your TMJ symptoms and might use X-ray imaging to examine the joints for damage. They can then recommend an appropriate care plan to restore the function of your temporomandibular joints and prevent new damage. What are my treatment options for TMD and TMJ? Several dental treatments are available for TMD, and the team at LA Dentists Group routinely works with other professionals like chiropractors to give you the best possible treatment outcome. Your treatment options include: Botox injections Botox® injections treat TMD by relaxing the muscles responsible for moving and clenching your jaw. Oral appliance therapy Oral appliance therapy is a treatment you can use at night to control nighttime teeth grinding, which damages your TMJ joints. Correcting your bite LA Dentists Group might want to correct your bite for long-term TMJ relief. They use treatments like Invisalign®, braces, crowns, and bridges to help align and balance your bite. If you have pain around your jaw and temples, it’s time to explore treatments for TMD and TMJ problems. Veneers are hard shells made of tooth-colored materials that fit over the front of your natural teeth and make them appear whiter, brighter, and evenly shaped. Veneers improve the look of your smile without pain, invasive procedures, or dental surgery. The LA Dentists Group team is highly skilled in creating and placing custom porcelain veneers for their patients. Why might I need veneers? Veneers improve the strength and appearance of teeth that are: Cracked Stained Misshapen Weak Discolored Rough Uneven Gapped Dental veneers available at LA Dentists Group are long-lasting and strong. They look and function like natural teeth and can help you gain the confidence you deserve. Are dental veneers right for me? To find out if you’re a candidate for porcelain veneers, your LA Dentists Group provider looks at your teeth and gums and takes dental X-rays, if needed. They ask about your cosmetic dentistry goals, oral health history, and desired results. If you have tooth decay or gum disease, your specialist treats these issues first before scanning your teeth and mouth to create custom-fitted veneers. If you have permanent tooth loss, LA Dentists Group offers bone grafting and dental implants to replace an entire natural tooth with an artificial one. What happens when receiving veneers? Before you receive dental veneers, your dentist may numb the treatment area and remove a small portion of the outside of your natural teeth. When the custom veneers are ready, your dentist securely bonds them over the front and side of your natural teeth and ensures they fit comfortably. How should I care for dental veneers? To take good care of dental veneers, don’t chew on hard candy, pens, ice, or other hard objects. See your dentist at least every six months for professional dental cleanings and exams, brush your teeth after meals, and don’t forget to floss daily. Call the LA Dentists Group office if your veneers get damaged. At LA Dentists Group in Pasadena and Glendale, California, the skilled cosmetic and prosthodontic practitioners treat sleep apnea to help you breathe easier at night and let you and your partner sleep soundly. Call the office to schedule an evaluation at LA Dentists Group or use the request appointment online feature today. request an appointment What is sleep apnea? Sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder that affects your airway and breathing while you sleep. It also reduces sleep quality, which can lead to an array of unpleasant symptoms. Sleep apnea makes airway muscles relax, obstructs airflow, and may cause pauses in breathing for up to 10 seconds during sleep. These pauses could happen 30 times per hour when left untreated. Fortunately, the LA Dentists Group team offers oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea to improve airflow, reduce snoring, and help you get a better night’s rest. What are the symptoms of sleep apnea? The symptoms associated with sleep apnea include: Loud snoring Daytime fatigue Morning headaches Dry mouth in the morning Reduced ability to concentrate Irritability Gasping for air during sleep Daytime fatigue associated with sleep apnea increases your risk of poor work or school performance and car accidents. If it goes untreated, sleep apnea is associated with a higher risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, weight gain, and even strokes. A doctor can diagnose sleep apnea based on your symptoms, medical history, and the results of a sleep study. What are the sleep apnea risk factors? Common sleep apnea risk factors include: Carrying excess body weight Being a man Family history of sleep apnea Alcohol and sedative use Narrow airway Thick neck Some medical conditions Nasal congestion Smoking Smokers are three times more likely than non-smokers to have sleep apnea. Medical conditions that increase your chance of sleep apnea include high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, congestive heart failure, Parkinson’s disease, and polycystic ovary syndrome in women. Your risk is also higher if you’ve had a stroke or have a lung disease, a hormone disorder, or asthma. Adopting healthy habits can reduce the chance of developing sleep apnea, but you may not be able to avoid it. How is sleep apnea treated? After you’ve been diagnosed with sleep apnea, LA Dentists Group offers an alternative to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), which uses a breathing device that many patients find uncomfortable. Instead, the LA Dentists Group team provides custom-fitted, noninvasive oral appliance therapy recommended by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Oral devices are highly effective for mild or moderate sleep apnea, and they’re more comfortable than CPAP treatment. You might receive an elastic mandibular advancement (EMA) appliance, dorsal appliance, or another type of comfortable oral appliance to wear in your mouth when you sleep. It repositions your jaw to improve airflow and breathing. Take the appliance out of your mouth after you wake up. Your LA Dentists Group dentist digitally scans your mouth to develop a custom-fitted device that matches your personalized needs. To get treated for sleep apnea using a pain-free oral appliance, call the LA Dentists Group office or request an appointment online today. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. The expert dentists at LA Dentists Group in Pasadena and Glendale, California, provide ceramic and metal braces, as well as clear aligners, to alleviate underbite, overbite, crossbite, and other types of malocclusion. Schedule your treatment consultation over the phone or online at the practice today. request an appointment What are braces? Braces are a system of brackets, wires, and bands that work together to straighten your teeth over time. They place pressure on specific points of your arch to gradually guide your teeth into an optimal position for chewing, biting, and oral hygiene. You might feel like braces are a bit of an inconvenience, especially if you’re getting them in adulthood. Fortunately, braces perform their function quite quickly and offer immense benefits. By aligning your teeth, you can avoid disruptive and costly oral health problems like tooth wear, gum disease, and cavities. Why might I need braces? Few people have perfectly straight adult teeth naturally. In fact, crooked teeth in childhood may need early orthodontic treatment before you can get braces. You might benefit from braces if you have one of these types of malocclusion: Overbite Underbite Crossbite Open bite Crowded teeth LA Dentists Group offers several types of braces, including ceramic braces and traditional metal braces. The team also gives you a retainer to wear after your treatment with braces is complete; it helps keep your teeth in their new positions. Are there any eating restrictions with braces? Yes, but not as many as you might think. The team at LA Dentists Group goes over the do’s and don’ts of having braces long before you start the treatment so you can prepare accordingly. You should try to avoid any foods or candies that could break your braces off your teeth or get stuck in the wires and brackets. This includes hard and sticky foods such as: Hard candies Gum (you can, however, chew sugar-free gum) Nuts Popcorn Beef jerky Full apples Similarly, you should watch out for absentminded chewing. To keep your braces in place, you should avoid chewing on pencils, toothpicks, and fingernails. How long until I get my braces off? The amount of time you must wear braces depends on the starting point of your teeth and your desired end result. During the consultation and planning period, the team predicts how your teeth will move with braces and can estimate the length of your braces treatment. Most people wear braces for 18-24 months on average. If you’d like a straighter smile and want to learn more about braces, call LA Dentists Group or request an orthodontic consultation online today. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule. Root canal therapy at LA Dentists Group uses a high-tech rotary instrument to clean out and fill infected root canals inside of your teeth. Unlike traditional root canal equipment, rotary tools are quiet and smooth, allowing your provider to avoid loud, grinding sounds during the procedure. This makes root canals at LA Dentists Group a comfortable, pain-free experience for patients. The LA Dentists Group uses a Dentsply WaveOne® rotary tool to complete root canals, which decreases the time required to clean infected teeth by up to 40% compared with other rotary tools. Undergoing a root canal in the early stages of tooth decay is the best way to avoid painful complications, including loose or missing permanent teeth. What are the signs I might need root canal therapy? Signs you may need a root canal include: Tooth, gum, or facial swelling Toothache Tooth or gum tenderness Pain with cold and heat Pus near the gumline Tooth discoloration Tooth sensitivity Pain with chewing See your LA Dentists Group provider at the first sign of a problem; the earlier you seek treatment, the better the outcome. Is root canal therapy right for me? Your LA Dentists Group specialist examines your gums and teeth and takes dental X-rays to find out if you’re a candidate for root canal therapy. They also review your symptoms and oral health history before developing a customized treatment plan. What happens during a root canal? During root canal therapy, your LA Dentists Group provider numbs the treatment area. They offer sedation dentistry to help you relax before opening up the top part of your tooth. Your dentist then gently removes infected pulp from inside of the tooth. They clean it out, fill the empty root canal chamber, and seal the tooth closed. The LA Dentists Group team may place a crown over the top of a treated tooth to further protect it and reduce the chance of future issues. What happens after root canal therapy? After you undergo a root canal at LA Dentists Group, the treated tooth may be temporarily tender. Take good care of it by not chewing on sticky candy or hard objects. Advancements in dental technology provide Dr. Meserkhani with many minimally invasive options for providing you with attractive and stable new teeth. He has equipped his practice with state-of-the-art technology to provide you with the most comfortable and efficient treatment. OPTIONS FOR TOOTH REPLACEMENT THAT LOOK, FEEL AND ACT NATURAL Dental implants are artificial replacements for missing teeth. They can be used to replace a single tooth, and they can also be used to support several artificial teeth when multiple teeth need to be replaced. Learn more about the advantages of dental implants. Dr. Meserkhani uses dental implants with the following methods for replacing missing teeth. REPLACING A SINGLE TOOTH Most dental professionals agree that replacing a single missing tooth with a dental implant is the best option. A titanium implant post is anchored into the jawbone and attached to a natural-looking porcelain crown with an abutment. This combination restores the ability to chew normally and also helps to deter bone loss in the jaw. IMPLANT-SUPPORTED BRIDGE Implant-supported bridges are often considered to be the most lifelike option for multiple tooth replacement. A dental bridge consists of three to four porcelain teeth supported by two dental implants. A bridge can replace two or more teeth missing in a row, or a series of four bridges can be secured to dental implants to replace an entire arch of teeth. Chewing force is restored to approximately 98% of normal. IMPLANT-RETAINED DENTURES We don’t recommend traditional, removable dentures as a solution for missing teeth because they can actually accelerate bone loss in the jaw. Dentures are also prone to slippage and frequently cause painful irritation to the gums. If partial or full dentures are used, they should be anchored with dental implants. The implants will help provide the stimulation that jawbone needs to remain healthy and regenerate naturally, and they stabilize dentures so that slippage is reduced and chewing ability is improved. SAME DAY TEETH WITH FIX-ON-FOUR This advanced technique uses four dental implants to support an arch of artificial teeth. By placing the rear implants at an angle, longer posts can be used and are anchored into the denser portion of jawbone in the front of the mouth. You can walk out with a full set of new teeth on the same day. With this procedure, bone grafting isn’t always necessary, which means less expensive and faster results. As with any implanted-supported restoration, bone loss is minimized and chewing ability is greatly increased. --> Social Appointments We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule.
