A Closer Look At the Los Angeles Millwick Wedding and Event Venue
Garden Courtyard
A private, discreet entry leads guests down a shaded path into Millwick’s tranquil Garden Courtyard. Surrounded by original brick walls and teeming with mature trees and plants that stretch towards the LA skyline, the Courtyard is the green heart of the venue. Set up your wedding ceremony against a lush vertical garden and after you say your vows, watch the space transform into a cocktail lounge for guests to enjoy all night long. Or bring in high-top tables and low-slung couches to create a casual complement to seated dinners or presentations inside the Grand Hall.
The Fondrevay
Striking decoupage walls featuring tropical flora and fauna make a bold and lively impression when guests first arrive at Millwick. This entry area is primed for personalization. Carve your initials into the wooden bartop alongside couples who have also tied the knot at Millwick venue in Los Angeles and use the magnetic walls that surround the Fondrevay to display escort cards, signage or an interactive game. Designed to be multi-functional, the Fondrevay can be transformed from a cocktail bar to a product display or oyster station.
Grand Hall
The oversized glass roll-up doors that invite guests into the Grand Hall are just a taste of the dramatic proportions of Millwick’s interior space. Dinner parties, presentations and dancing can all unfold under soaring wooden bow truss ceilings studded with skylights. The Grand Hall is anchored in warm details and exotic plants flourish inside the space. The south wall of the room features a floor-to-ceiling cinema screen—use it to host presentations or turn the space into a screening lounge with plush seating. Or clear out the furniture altogether and project atmospheric visuals that complement sets spun by your DJ.
Magic Gardens
Palms and Dracaena planted directly into the soil beneath Millwick’s floors form the lush walls of the Grand Hall’s Magic Gardens. Nestle a loveseat into the nook to turn it into a makeout spot or use it to host an unexpected experience like a tasting bar, tarot card reader or menagerie of animal friend piñatas.
Nina’s Lounge
Tucked behind a wall of greenery and vintage glass, Nina’s Lounge is a private getaway for brides, grooms and VIP guests. Orange velvet couches—donated by Marvimon’s favorite neighbor, Nina—invite you to give your feet a quick break from dancing, while a round mirror studded with Hollywood-style lights makes for the perfect portrait spot before debuting a second reception look.
The Los Angeles Millwick Venue, Then & Now
Originally built in the 1940’s as a livery supporting the development of Downtown LA and later used as a cold-storage facility, Millwick was all but abandoned when the Marvimon team acquired it in 2014.
Like with all Marvimon venues, we aimed to preserve as much of the property’s original patina as possible during our reinvention of the space. Guests will catch glimpses of its history in unexpected places—like in the bathrooms, which have been built into the walk-in freezers left behind by the previous tenant.
Minimizing our environmental impact was top of mind during the transformation of the space. We reduced the original building’s footprint by 25%, converted the outdoor area into a permeable living oasis and installed strategically located roll-up doors and skylights to provide passive lighting and airflow to the Grand Hall. With this philosophy in mind, Millwick supports green events and can introduce clients to planners, caterers, stylists and purveyors who use sustainable resources and practices.

Flora Chang, Then & Now Flora Chang is perhaps our most mysterious venues and not much is known about the lives it lived before becoming part of the Marvimon family. It’s rumored to be one of the oldest buildings on the block and we named it after its previous owner. When our team acquired the property in 2017, we collaborated with engineers, craftsmen and artists to completely redesign and refurbish the space. Like all of our venues, we worked to limit the environmental impact of the project by filling the space with rescued materials—this time sourcing objects, textiles and furniture from the storied Anawalt estate in Brentwood. Until it was torn down the home was owned by lumber scions Richard and Patricia Anawalt and was a love letter of sorts to Patricia’s eclectic and worldly tastes. You’ll find her spirit in the art, carpets, book collection and doors that now call Flora Chang home. Valentine Wedding Venue, Then & Now Originally built in the 1920’s in an area that has long served as the city’s seafood market east of Downtown, the building has lived many lives in its century of use. It’s been a hotel, a brothel, a fish and oyster company and a commercial site for everything from glass blowing to marijuana cultivation. In 2017 we collaborated with engineers, craftspersons and artists to completely redesign and refurbish the building that is now Valentine. This mysterious history subtly informed our transformation of the space. Glance around the Greenhouse Courtyard to spot the ghost of a staircase that once led to second-floor guest rooms and find the banisters from that same staircase when you belly up to the bar. Part of our mission was to limit the environmental impact of construction. We took many of the materials freed up from the downsizing—lumber, steel, stairwells, flooring, even windows—and repurposed them into ceilings, walls, paneling, furniture and decorative elements. In its rebuild, the structure has tripled its energy efficiency. Horticultural greenhouse roofs take full advantage of southern California’s sunshine and ocean breezes. We opened our first venue out of our co-founders’ home in Chinatown. Originally an abandoned automobile showroom, our team transformed the space into an open-air loft filled with vintage finds and a private courtyard with vertical gardens. In the 20 years since, we’ve applied the same spirit to event spaces in Los Angeles, like Culver City, the Arts District, LA’s North Sea neighborhood and Rancho Mirage, near Palm Springs. We take neglected, overlooked spaces and lovingly reinvent them with art, decor and unexpected details. Repurposed materials, objects, plants and light are mixed in with the old and original in unexpected ways. Our experimental designs are informed by each site’s history both real and imagined; SmogShoppe was an auto service station and Millwick was a livery for beasts of burden. Valentine, Grass Room and Flora Chang were most recently old marijuana factories. And Desert Island , our newest venue, is a lush oasis in a sea of desert sand. We encourage you to explore the images and stories of our wedding venues to discover how these event spaces throughout Los Angeles could make an ideal location for your private event, ceremony, reception, live performance, get-together, film shoot or production. When you’re ready to dig into the details, we’re here to help bring your event to life. Contact us for tours of our wedding and event spaces in Los Angeles, reservations, and guidance. Our Wedding and Event Spaces in Los Angeles are Featured In See Press from Past Events FAQ What is included in Marvimon Productions’ venue fee? Our venue fees include the use of the space for 12-hour periods between 9 am to 2 am on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, or 9 am to 12 am on a Monday-Thursday date. It also includes use of the venue’s sound, lighting, cinema systems and collection of furniture and decor. What is needed to reserve my date? A non-refundable deposit payment and signed contract are required to reserve a date at any of our wedding and event spaces in Los Angeles. The initial deposit is based on the location and day of week selected. Please note we do not accept credit cards nor checks. Please reach out to us via our contact form to receive price sheets with further details. Booking remotely? No problem! We offer virtual tours and our booking process is digital. Does Marvimon Productions provide event planning or coordination services? We are happy to provide tailored recommendations for planners, event producers and other vendors during the booking and planning process. While we do not offer planning and coordination services in-house, we do require a design meeting with our Events Team to explore floorplan and layout options. Our Events Team specializes in helping to bring your overall vision to life in collaboration with your hired team. In addition, we require a Marvimon Productions Site Management Team to be on-site during your rental period to oversee guest arrival, ensure equipment is working effectively and help address venue related requests. Fees for these services are reflected on our rate sheets. Do you have an in-house caterer? Or can I bring in an outside caterer? Marvimon does not have an exclusive or required in-house caterer, allowing our clients the flexibility to choose the right culinary and bar team to fit a range of budgets and needs. In order to assist our clients in connecting with experienced catering teams, we have cultivated relationships with the best catering companies in Southern California and we will provide recommendations from our preferred list during the booking process. Catering and bartending vendors who are unfamilar with our locations are subject to an approval and on-boarding process that must be completed at least 30 days in advance of the event. Is parking available on-site at Marvimon Productions venues? Will guests be charged for parking? Our venues have very limited (or no) on-site parking. For that reason, clients are required to hire our exclusive valet company, White Label Valet, at SmogShoppe, and recommend to hire them at our DTLA locations, to ensure that guests have a stress-free arrival and departure experience and to limit our impact on the surrounding neighborhoods. SmogShoppe, Then & Now Once a 1980’s smog check center, SmogShoppe is now one of the most sustainably designed urban spaces both in Los Angeles and the United States. It exceeds nearly every requirement in every category for the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum Certification. As we strive to do with all of our venues, the impact of our transformation of SmogShoppe was minimized by using over 80% of the existing structure and 90% of the building materials were green certified and/or locally produced. Salvaged metal and wood was also scrapped from the demolition and recycled to make the furniture. We installed the most efficient heating/cooling and mechanical systems along with solar panels to generate over 100% of annual electrical energy needs. Strategically located oversized courtyard doors and skylights provide passive lighting and also act as climate control that minimizes energy usage throughout the year by taking full advantage of the sunny, breezy Culver City climate. Drought-tolerant vertical gardens keep SmogShoppe water-wise. As a result of our efficiency efforts, SmogShoppe uses less energy than a typical two-bedroom home. In addition, many of the decorations and furnishings were found by scouring nearby flea markets, thrift stores and estate sales. SmogShoppe encourages and supports green events and can introduce clients to planners, caterers, stylists and purveyors who use sustainable resources and practices. Questions? Contact our team! Our spaces are perfect for corporate events, productions, brand launches, private parties, pop-ups, and creative gatherings. Can I bring in my own vendors? Yes. You’re welcome to bring your own team. We’re also happy to share our list of favorite local vendors if you want a head start. Are your venues available for weekday bookings? Yes! We host events all week long. Weekdays are great for offsites, shoots, and brand activations, and you might even get more flexibility with timing and setup. Do you have A/V equipment on-site? Most venues come with built-in sound systems and projection options. We’ll go over the gear each space has and help you plan for anything extra you might need. Can I tour the venue before I book? Absolutely. We’d love to show you around. Just reach out to schedule a walkthrough, virtual or in person. Is there parking or valet available? We’re here to help your event go smoothly (and stay neighbor-friendly). Can I rent multiple venues for a multi-day or multi-format event? You can! But hey, we’ve seen magic come together in less time, too. Always worth asking! Is there parking or valet available? Each venue has its own parking details. Some offer on-site lots, while others work best with valet or nearby garages. We’ll walk you through options when you tour the space and help you plan for smooth guest arrival.
