Maria "Ailene" Galindo Practice Support Ailene joined our dental practice in 2006, having had years of experience in the general dentistry field since 1996 and has been integral in all facets of the front office when Dr. Mirhadi became the dental practice owner. She is a bay area native and very well versed in dental insurance policies. While she will be living in Vegas, she will continue to take care of our patients remotely and continue to assist the practice and care of patients. While amalgam is a good restorative material and many patients have had amalgam fillings in their mouth for many years, it can be prone to leakage and fracture which could lead to other dental complications. With evidence-based dentistry application and with improvements in bonding, in composite materials function and form, and more options in esthetic shades, our office is very comfortable to place tooth colored composite resins when a filling is required. There are many factors that can affect the success of a dental restoration - to name a few: multiple medications with their various side effects, dry mouth, a history of clenching and grinding, home care and effective hygiene, habits (including smoking) and if you are prone to gum disease (gingivitis) and periodontitis. A graduate from the University of California at Berkeley with a double major in Integrative Biology and Near Eastern Studies, emphasis in Persian Studies, she was driven towards a career in health, medicine, education, and service. Dentistry, with its need for strong interpersonal skills and connection, in addition to integrating both science and art, was a natural choice. She graduated from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 2003 and after being an associate in two offices, purchased the wonderful practice of Dr. Barry Hunau in 2005. Having a strong work ethic and firm educational foundation, in addition to a vision of patient care, perfectionism, skill, and creating a true "family dentistry" environment, she has created for many a place they can call a "dental home." She is a member of the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Berkeley Dental Society, and the American Academy of Clear Aligners. She is an Invisalign provider, takes many continuing education courses, and is also a member of several local dental study clubs. She embodies the ideas of family: having a wonderful network of friends and family. She loves spending time with her family, her friends, her husband and two beautiful children. Jennifer Gee Schoon-Tong D.D.S. Jennifer Gee Schoon-Tong D.D.S. grew up on the Monterey Peninsula but considers herself a bay area native. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology/ Neurobiology. She always knew that she was destined for a career in health and in the care of others. She graduated from New York University in 2007 and completed her General Practice Residency from the Veterans Affairs of Northern California in 2008. She joined the practice of Dr. Nooshan Mirhadi  as an associate in the fall of 2008 part time while still volunteering with low-income families, working in another dental office and teaching/working at the veteran's hospital assisting with homeless veterans and those in the drug rehabilitation programs. In 2014 she  joined the practice as a full-time associate, and as of January 2020 she has been a committed partner in our family dental practice. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Berkeley Dental Society, Mommy in Dental Business, and the American Academy of Clear Aligners. She values service and community and continues to volunteer to serve those less fortunate. She has also served many leadership positions - was on the local dental society Board of Directors since she became a member in 2008, was the President of the Berkeley Dental Society in 2013 and served on the California Dental Association Council on Practice Support. She strives each day to provide comprehensive compassionate care and loves to continue learning everything she can to help the profession and the community. Her joys are spending time with her family, her friends, her husband and her two beautiful daughters. She also loves to write and was the Editor of the Berkeley Dental Society and various local newsletters. In her "spare" time she loves to listen to Audiobooks & podcasts, exercise, play the piano, enjoy nature, and is trying to learn to also slow down, be mindful and grateful for every moment! Jessica Yu D.D.S. (Associate) Jessica Yu, D.D.S. is a Michigan native, born and raised in the Metro Detroit area. Her path to dentistry was paved by a deep-seated desire to serve. After earning her B.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan, she spent years working in various healthcare settings—from pediatric clinical research to providing hands-on care for the elderly. These experiences revealed to her that quality oral healthcare is often a "missing piece" in a patient's overall well-being.  Wanting to bridge that gap, Dr. Yu returned to her alma mater to complete her dental degree. Upon graduation, she completed a General Practice Residency at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Today, she combines her clinical training with patient education, ensuring that every patient—regardless of age or anxiety level—feels seen, heard, and cared for.  When she isn't at the office, you’ll likely find Dr. Yu exploring the East Bay's vibrant food scene, recharging at a local cafe, or volunteering at the animal shelter. She received her dental hygiene training from Chabot College in Hayward, CA. She continued her studies and received her alternative practice license from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. This allows her to practice hygiene unsupervised to reach the underserved and special needs communities. She has been practicing hygiene since 1998 throughout the bay area. When she isn't working she is enjoying time with her husband and taking care of her family. She has many interests, having a love of knitting, travel, photography, food and baking. Lucia Arrayga RDH, BS Registered Dental Hygienist “Lucy” is a native Bay Area Californian, born and raised in Oakland, CA. She is a graduate of California State University, East Bay, with a degree in Health Science. Lucy received her dental hygiene training at Diablo Valley College and has been a practicing registered dental hygienist for over 15 years. She is a member of the East Bay Dental Hygiene Society and the California Dental Hygiene Association. Lucy has been married for almost 25 years and has three beautiful sons. She indulges in her embarrassing guilty pleasure of reality TV and balances the silliness with PBS timepieces such as Downton Abbey, The Crown, and Belgravia. She loves to travel to fun beach locations with friends and family, large ship cruising and visits amusement parks in her free time. Maida Interiano RDH Registered Dental Hygienist We were so lucky to meet Maida during the pandemic of 2020 and she joined our practice shortly after. She is CA board certified and licensed since 1986. A returning Berkeley native after 20 plus years of country living in Ojai working at UCSB and in private practice, while raising 3 awesome children, 9 rescue dogs, 4 cats, and 10 hens. She experienced first hand the fear of  dentistry as a young person coming from a low preventive dental IQ family with great dental needs. She has taken that experience to become mindful of paying it forward. She not only caters to cowards but understands there is always a story and a person behind a patient and their oral condition. She is a graduate of San Joaquin Valley College in Visalia, where she completed the dental hygiene program at the top of her class, maintaining a 4.0 GPA.  Leen is passionate about helping patients understand the connection between oral health and overall wellness. She takes pride in building lasting relationships and creating a comfortable, supportive experience through personalized care, learning, and education. Veronica Nunez de Guzman RDH Registered Dental Hygienist Veronica is a licensed dental hygienist with a strong foundation in dentistry. She earned her dental degree from the University of Culiacán in Mexico, where she began her career practicing dentistry. After relocating to the Bay Area, Veronica continued her professional journey by completing the Dental Hygiene program at Chabot College and obtaining her dental hygiene license in the United States. Veronica is passionate about patient care and brings a unique, well-rounded perspective to her work through her experience as both a dentist and a dental hygienist.
