TESTIMONIALS
What Our Clients Say About Us
"I've been going to North Berkeley Dental Arts since before it was North Berkeley Dental Arts--if you know what I mean. The kindness, courtesy, sensitivity and extraordinary competence of all of the practitioners, as well as the administrative staff, makes it a pleasure to go to the dentist. I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but in the decades I've been going there it hasn't changed. The doctors really listen to one's concerns, explain everything in whatever amount of detail you want, and deserve the high respect we have for their training and ability. The administrative staff is great as well, always trying to accomodate the patients with appointments and everything else they take care of. The atmosphere could be a model for every kind of medical practice."
Rose G.
"This dental office has been part of the North Berkeley neighborhood for decades. It may sound strange, but there is nothing nicer than walking to my teeth cleaning appointment and seeing the warm, friendly folks who I have known for years. The quality of care is excellent, they work with your insurance and communicate clearly about costs, and they are just super people!"
Laura C.
"A warm, comfortable and relaxing office. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Lim and Dr. Sio provide excellent dental services in a very professional manner, clearly explaining the procedures and doing them with great results. I have been to many dental offices in my life and this is one of the best. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone."
Arthur C.
"Both Dr. Lim and Sio have been great with me. I have had some complicated problems with my gums and needed implants. They went over every step of the process with me. Over the years I have sometimes had last-minute emergencies and the staff at North Berkeley Dental and the doctors have always managed to get me in on same-day appointments."

Since our facility was a previous home, we are fortunate to have windows in every room thereby allowing us to have excellent air flow to increase safety. Window fans, advanced filtration units, barriers, and pre screening of patients are just a few of the changes we have applied to decrease the risk of Covid transmission in our office. We have been fortunate thus far and are happy to report that no one in our staff has been sick because of work. We have been following all the COVID-19 and universal protocols by the CDC, ADA and the state. We are back to seeing patients for all services that we had offered prior to the beginning of the pandemic. Good oral health is vital to overall wellness and longevity. In order to accommodate the return of patients who have deferred treatment and to meet the demand of new patients seeking our services we have extended our schedules to open almost every Saturday and more early and late time slots by appointment. We are fortunate to be able to practice dentistry in Berkeley and to serve our patients and our community by improving their oral health in a safe manner. Testimonials What Our Clients Say About Us " This dental office has been part of the North Berkeley neighborhood for decades. It may sound strange, but there is nothing nicer than walking to my teeth cleaning appointment and seeing the warm, friendly folks who I have known for years. The quality of care is excellent, they work with your insurance and communicate clearly about costs, and they are just super people! " Laura C. " A warm, comfortable and relaxing office. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Lim and Dr. Sio provide excellent dental services in a very professional manner, clearly explaining the procedures and doing them with great results. I have been to many dental offices in my life and this is one of the best. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. " Arthur C. " Both Dr. Lim and Sio have been great with me. I have had some complicated problems with my gums and needed implants. They went over every step of the process with me. Over the years I have sometimes had last-minute emergencies and the staff at North Berkeley Dental and the doctors have always managed to get me in on same-day appointments. " Myron B. " I've been going to North Berkeley Dental Arts since before it was North Berkeley Dental Arts--if you know what I mean. Implants are synthetic structures that are placed in the area of the tooth normally occupied by the root. Implants are anchored to the jawbone or metal framework on the bone and act as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. In some cases, implants can be used to attach dentures. Below, your Berkeley, CA dentist goes over dental implants. Is Anyone A Candidate For Dental Implants? Not everyone is a candidate for a dental implant. For a successful implant to take hold, a candidate must have proper bone density and have a strong immune system. Do Dental Implants Look Like Natural Teeth? Dental implants are so well-designed, they mimic the look and feel of natural teeth. Dental implants are usually made of titanium. What Is The Success Rate With Dental Implants? In general, good candidates who have dental implants can expect high success rates with the procedure. How Many Visits Does This Procedure Typically Take? The procedure can take several visits. During the first visit, an anchor is placed into the jawbone and the site is allowed to heal for several weeks or months. This gives your tissue time to grow around the anchor to more firmly hold it in place. During a follow-up visit, an artificial, natural-looking tooth is fitted over the implanted anchor. Types of implants Various types of implants include full upper and lower, anterior, posterior, and single-tooth: Full upper replacements The upper set of teeth is replaced with implants. Procedure steps include: Missing tooth roots are replaced with implants, which are covered under the gum line. A healing period of up to six months allows implants to take. The implants are uncovered and extensions attached. Replacement teeth are affixed to the implants and extensions. In some cases, full upper replacements can be removed. Anterior replacement Implants are used to replace the front teeth (also called incisors and cupids). Procedure steps include: Missing tooth roots are replaced with implants, which are covered under the gum line. A healing period of up to six months allows implants to take. The implants are uncovered and extensions attached. Replacement teeth are affixed to the implants and extensions. Full lower replacement The lower set of teeth is replaced with implants. Full lower replacement usually only uses four to six implants (near the front), which are used to anchor a denture. Posterior replacement Implants are used to replace the bicuspids and molars (the back teeth). Procedure steps include: Missing tooth roots are replaced with implants, which are covered under the gum line. A healing period of up to six months allows implants to take. The implants are uncovered and extensions attached. Replacement teeth are affixed to the implants and extensions. Single tooth replacement Procedure steps include: Missing tooth root is replaced with an implant, which remains covered under the gum line. A healing period of up to six months allows the implant to take. The implant is uncovered and an extension attached. Replacement tooth is affixed to the implant and extension. And while many people have a dentist they trust and have visited for years, the nature of dental work makes it so that appointments are typically planned, sometimes weeks or even months in advance. However when faced with a dental emergency, many people find themselves at a loss of where to go and what to do. Just like a medical emergency, it is important to treat dental trauma and other problems in a timely manner in order to avoid complications and risk permanent damage. This is where a dentistry that offers emergency dental care like North Berkeley Dental Arts comes into play. What Are Common Dental Problems That Require Going To See An Emergency Dentist? One of the most common dental problems to require emergency care is sudden tooth loss or breaks, usually caused by trauma or a fall. Although dental accidents are not generally life threatening, getting immediate care from a dentist is necessary in order to help preserve the tooth and the smile's overall appearance. Even small breaks can cause nerve injuries through bacteria build up in the soft pulp inside the tooth, potentially resulting in permanent damage if left untreated. A tooth fracture that might seem to be little more than a cosmetic problem can sometimes actually need a root canal to prevent infection and nerve damage. Other types of dental emergencies include: -Inflammation -Bacterial infection -Abscess -Loose tooth -Knocked out tooth -Cuts and lacerations to the gums, tongue, lips, and cheeks Contact your Emergency Dentist in Berkeley, CA Accidents happen. If a tooth becomes loose or falls out due to a fall or traumatic impact, try to keep the tooth clean and stable and seek immediate treatment.
