They usually cannot be transferred electronically, and the shareholder does not have a certificate of ownership. Gifting mutual fund shares to your fund can take time, sometimes as long as four weeks. We urge you not to wait until last minute to try to complete a charitable gift of mutual fund shares. This is a particularly important when making gifts at the end of the year. Begin by notifying us your interest in making a gift of mutual fund shares. Identify the mutual fund and number of shares. If available, include the telephone number and contact person at the mutual fund company. In the event that the North Valley Community Foundation already has an account with the mutual fund company, we can provide you with our account number. Instruct the mutual fund company to transfer the shares to an account in the name of the North Valley Community Foundation. If a new account has to be opened, our taxpayer identification number may be required. When a new account for the Foundation has to be established, it also may take the mutual fund company a little longer to accomplish the transfer. Some mutual fund companies provide a form to be completed first by the donor and then by the Foundation. If that is the case with your mutual fund company, you may request the form from the company, fill out your portion and send it to us. We will complete the form and send it in to the company Once an account for the Foundation has been established, the mutual fund company will send the Foundation a transaction statement, when we know that the gift is being made, we can check on its status throughout the process. Restricted Stock Under certain circumstances, you may make a gift of restricted stock to your fund. Please contact the Foundation at (530) 891-1150 if you would like to do so. We can work with you to determine if the shares may be gifted based on the restriction on your stock and the provisions of legal documents governing your ownership of the stock. If your shares may be gifted, we will assist you in completing the process. A qualified appraisal complying with IRS regulations will be required to establish the value of the gift for federal tax purposes. Gift of restricted stock can take many weeks to complete, so please call us early if you want to have your gift complete within a specific tax period. Your gift will be complete when the restricted stock is reregistered in the name of the Foundation. Public Fundraising Family, friends, and colleagues – anyone can make a gift to your fund. It’s as simple as mailing the gift to the Foundation with instructions to place it in your fund. IMPORTANT NOTE ON FUNDRAISING FOR YOUR FUND: Raising money for your fund by holding an event by soliciting businesses and other foundations is more complex. You will, for legal purposes, be doing so on behalf of the North Valley Community Foundation. Before you begin planning your event or solicitation, please contact Carolyn Engstrom, Client Care Manager, at [email protected] . We can work together to ensure the event is in compliance with IRS rules so your donors will be eligi --> Aaron Rodgers NorCal Recovery Fund | NVCF top of page Fund Advisor Portal Grant Portal ❤ Donate About Our Team Board of Directors History of NVCF Financial Statements Work with Us Staff Login Disaster Relief Wildfire Relief & Recovery Fund Camp Fire Recovery/Butte Strong Fund Food Insecurity Relief Aaron Rodgers NorCal Fire Recovery Dixie Fire Grant Program North Complex Fire Grant Program Drought Relief Disaster Immediate Relief Fund COVID-19 Publications Our Funds Overview Open a Fund Scholarships Success Stories Initiatives Philanthropy Council Gala 2026 Scholarships Grant Programs NVCF Cares Care Team Youth Advisory Council The Crew Caregiver Academy NVCF Cares: Resources News & Media Monthly Newsletter Press Releases Publications NVCF in the News Annual Reports Love Warriors Podcast Gift Planning Giving News More Use tab to navigate through the menu items. NORTH COMPLEX FIRE GRANT PROGRAM This fund exists to raise money to support nonprofits and agencies providing immediate assistance to evacuees, animals and others impacted by fires in our area.  Grants Issued Media Donate The North Complex Fire Grant Program is closed , however, you may still contribute the Wildfire Relief and Recovery Fund to support other relief efforts.  The Wildfire Relief & Recovery Fund supports the rebuilding and revitalization of communities throughout our region impacted by wildfire. Tragically, the wildfires have become more and more dangerous, happen more frequently and are incredibly destructive in recent years. More specifically our region has suffered immensely. The impact of these fires has been felt by everyone in our region, and it will take many years of collaborative work for us to rebuild and revitalize homes, health, and wellbeing for all of our neighbors.  Our goal is to work collaboratively with the nonprofit, government, philanthropic and private sectors to accelerate recovery and rebuilding to create a thriving, resilient and even stronger region.  In December 2021, the North Complex Fire Grant Program closed after granting a total of $1,167,940 for survivors.  Grants Issued Grant Amount Description Northern Valley Catholic Social Service $59,297 To support the funding of two Disaster Case Management positions for the North Complex/Bear Fire Pioneer Union Elementary School District $17,097 To buy and install an electronic sign to display community information, school activities and events, as well as safety information from emergency services Northern Valley Catholic Social Service $25,000 To continue providing essential services and support to fire survivors: Disaster case management, crisis counseling support, construction cost analysis assistance, monthly educational and supportive workshops, internet access to help survivors access county, state, and federal services, and more.
