Paramount Publishing Company or PPC: Primary designer/site owner & employees, affiliates or it’s subsidiaries.   General Paramount Publishing Company will carry out work only where an agreement is provided either by email, telephone, mail or fax. Paramount Publishing Company will carry out work only for clients who are 18 years of age or above. An ‘order’ is deemed to be a written or verbal contract between Paramount Publishing Company and the client, this includes telephone and email agreements.   Website Design Whilst every endeavor will be made to ensure that the website and any scripts or programs are free of errors, Paramount Publishing Company cannot accept responsibility for any losses incurred due to malfunction, the website or any part of it. The website, graphics and any programming code remain the property of Paramount Publishing Company until all outstanding accounts are paid in full. Any scripts, cgi applications, php scripts, or software (unless specifically agreed) written by Paramount Publishing Company remain the copyright of Paramount Publishing Company and may only be commercially reproduced or resold with the permission of Paramount Publishing Company. Paramount Publishing Company cannot take responsibility for any copyright infringements caused by materials submitted by the client. We reserve the right to refuse any material of a copyrighted nature unless adequate proof is given of permission to use such material. Whilst every care has been taken to ensure products are problem free and accurate, the ultimate responsibility lies with the client in ensuring that all software is functioning correctly before use. The client is expected to test fully any application or programming relating to a site developed by Paramount Publishing Company before being made generally available for use. Where “bugs”, errors or other issues are found after the site is live, Paramount Publishing Company will endeavor (but is not obliged to) to correct these issues to meet the standards of function outlined in the brief   Compatibility Paramount Publishing Company will endeavor to ensure that any developed/designed site or application will function correctly on the server it is initially installed in and that it will function correctly when viewed with the web browsing software Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 8 and to an acceptable level with Mozilla and Google Chrome browsers. Paramount Publishing Company can offer no guarantees of correct function with all browser software.   Website Hosting Whilst Paramount Publishing Company recommends hosting companies to host websites, no guarantees can be made as to the availability or interruption of this service by Paramount Publishing Company cannot accept liability for losses caused by the unavailability, malfunction or interruption of this service, or for loss of turnover, sales, revenue, profits or indirect, consequential or special loss. Paramount Publishing Company reserves the right to refuse to handle in any way, material which may be deemed offensive, illegal or in any way controversial, and also to terminate the hosting service should the necessity arise.   Printing Paramount Publishing Company and it’s subsidiaries provides various print products and services using industry standard processes, techniques and materials. Unless specifically noted otherwise, most commonly used marketing products will be printed using either 14pt or 16pt stock. All paper stocks are estimated weights and may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Print prices are based on “press ready” digital files. Design service will be billed separately from printing charges. Design fees will also apply if files provided require changes or edits. Paramount Publishing will provide the client with a digital proof only unless a hard proof has been agreed upon previously by both parties, hard proofs will be charged an additional $55 fee. It is the clients responsibility to thoroughly review the provided proof prior to approval. Once client has approved the provided proof Paramount Publishing will take no responsibility for any grammatical, design or other errors already approved by the client. Payment of Accounts A non-refundable 50% deposit is required from any client before any work is carried out. It is the Paramount Publishing Company policy that any outstanding accounts for work carried out by Paramount Publishing or its affiliates are required to be paid in full at time of pick-up unless by prior arrangement with Paramount Publishing. We will contact clients via email and telephone once the job is ready for pick-up. If the client decides they no longer wish to complete the project as they have commissioned Paramount Publishing Company or any of it’s subsidiaries, the client is still obligated to pay for the work that has been completed, billed at our standard hourly rates and or provided quote, estimate or invoice at the time of cancellation. There are no exceptions. If accounts are not settled or Paramount Publishing Company has not been contacted regarding the delay, access to the related website, print products or services may be denied or web pages removed, we will then pass on such cases to the Small Claims Court to pursue payment, until balance is paid in full. Following consistent non-payment of an invoice our Solicitors will contact the client in question, with a view to taking the matter further and if need be to seek payment through legal procedures, and if necessary court summons. There will be a $45 charge for all returned checks. Today I am highlighting one of our favorites to date, CharroAzteca.com . I will quickly highlight why we enjoyed working on their project and what new thing we learned from them. The “What” Charro Azteca is an on-line business that focuses on carrying a wide variety of products catering to the Mexican national sport of “Charreria” (Traditional Mexican Rodeo). Think spurs, rodeo lasso’s, horse saddles and so on. Think authentic mariachi style sombreros and other related apparel. Made me want to buy a truck or horse. Seriously. The “Why” We love CharroAzteca’s style. Paco, the owner, has taken a more modern approach to a very old tradition. From his logo, website design and “boutique” looking business cards to his custom hats and custom t-shirts and jackets , he offers a clean and more modern experience to his customers. CharroAzteca also very quickly capitalized on his Facebook and Instagram social media channels. Within hours of launching the site, CharroAzteca was processing orders from traffic coming in via social media. What’s not to love about quickly monetizing websites? The “New” An interesting tidbit we learned while working with CharroAzteca was that “Charreria” is actually Mexico’s official national sport! I personally, and probably naively, just assumed it was “Futbol”, or soccer as we call it in the U.S. Who would have thunk it. How Small Business Owners Are Wrecking Their Own Chances Of Success FORBES MAGAZINE 10/07/2013 A couple of weeks ago, I found myself drawn to an article on Amex Open Forum. The link to get to it was titled “Are You An Ignorant Small Business Owner?” Certainly not!, I huffed. Then – Wait, am I? Having read the article, by marketing specialist Rieva Lesonsky, I was relieved to discover that – at least by her measures – I was doing OK: we have a great website, we use social media, we’re figuring out how to “mobilify” appropriate elements of our services. But I was shocked at some of the statistics she cited, especially a survey by Yodle, an online marketing platform, that showed only about half of small businesses have websites. I went to look at the survey from which that figure was drawn, and found even more sobering stats about small business owners non-use of technology. This from an article on Yodle about the survey: Many small business owners are still not adopting modern technology and marketing approaches. Although just over one in two SMB owners (51%) use technology to help with accounting operations, this dwarfs technology utilization for appointment booking and scheduling (39%), customer relationship management (34%), point-of-sale systems (25%), and acquisition marketing (14%). Additionally, more than half of SMB owners do not have a website (52%) or even measure the results of their marketing programs (56%). And the Yodle survey showed that only about 1 in 10 small businesses have figured out how to use social media or online advertising to market their product. And lest you think this doesn’t matter, because – after all, how many small businesses can there be? Well, here’s what the SBA has to say about the part small businesses play in the American economy: The 23 million small businesses in America account for 54% of all U.S. sales. Small businesses provide 55% of all jobs and 66% of all net new jobs since the 1970s. What’s the disconnect? Why are small business owners not using cheap (in many cases free), readily available technology to better establish and grow their businesses? I know that when I’m looking for a local business to deal with – from a handyman to a florist, a restaurant to a seamstress – the first place I look is online. And if I find that the store or restaurant or service provider doesn’t have a website – or has one that clearly hasn’t been updated since 2003, or doesn’t provide an email address or phone number on the home page – I discount it immediately. I assume (rightly or wrongly) that the enterprise is unprofessional and low quality. I suspect, in this era of Amazon, that lots of other people are doing this same thing, and coming to the same conclusions. This article places the number of people in the US who shop online at 75M – and I’m not even talking aboutshopping online; I’m just talking about going online to find a brick-and-mortar place to shop or a service provider to deal with in person. I’m truly puzzled by this. When building a nice website, getting a Twitter account, putting yourself and your business on LinkedIn or Facebook, and getting a Yelp presence or putting up a free account on Angie’s List are all relatively easy and painless – and can immediately create the sense that your business is a legitimate enterprise and give you access to lots of potential customers…why don’t small business owners do it? Do they think people don’t care? Are they convinced their customers aren’t online? Are they intimidated by the web? I’d love to hear your point of view.
