LOGIN Assessment at the ranch Assessment Application During Assessments a trainer will begin by building a relationship with your dog while observing their individual behaviors. We'll evaluate their reactions and responses to other dogs, humans, and stimuli. We'll also assess their current training status including leash and command responsiveness, reactivity, heeling, engagement, impulsiveness, and other critical behaviors. If your dog is reactive or under socialized we adjust their environment appropriately to make sure all dogs in our care are safe, happy, and healthy!  At the conclusion of your assessment a trainer will connect with you to discuss your dogs evaluation results and answer any questions you may have. During this time we can also recommend a training game plan that fits your needs and set proper expectations and goals. Assessments typically take 4-6 hours to complete; please schedule your drop-off before 11am. Board & Train Customized Dog Training Programs LOGIN How It Works & Pricing Board and Train Programs We tailor each program to your dog's specific needs and your training goals. Every dog has their own drives, behaviors, and personalities. We spend time learning and assessing their behaviors before creating a training plan based around your priorities.  ​ Our programs are comprehensive and include basic obedience training, monitored and controlled socialization, distraction desensitization, and behavior modification. An experienced dog trainer will work one-on-one with your dog using a balanced dog training approach. Dog training is all about consistent reinforcement, so if this is your dogs first time with us we may require a 4 - 6 week minimum for their first stay depending on behaviors and goals. During the Assessment a trainer will discuss all available options for your dog and if any minimums may be required. ​ Training Reports Video clips from your dogs training sessions are recorded and sent to your phone daily in their training report. It's critical that you not only get to see your dogs progress in real time, but understand the process. We can train your dog, but if we can't train you the progress we make will disappear. That's why we send training reports with videos, pictures, and a written portion explaining exercises and how it relates to your dog. We make our training process excessively transparent because the more knowledge and information you have the more successful you and your dog will be! ​ Minimum Requirements - An Assessment  is required for all new clients before a Board & Train can be approved. - No severe separation anxiety *see below* - Free of injuries and illnesses - Up to date on standard vaccines and current boosters ( click here for required vaccinations ) - Up to date rabies vaccine (no exceptions, must provide proof of status) - Ongoing flea and tick prevention - Female dogs 6+ months must be spayed ​ Pricing New clients may be required to complete a 4 or 6 week program minimum. During the Assessment your trainer will decide which program will be the best fit for your dog. Certain behavioral issues may require a 6 week minimum program. Reservations less than 4 weeks will be charged at $150/night. For each additional day over a program will be charged at $150/night. A 20% deposit is required for reservations. Full payment is due at pick up. Deposits are fully refundable with a cancellation notice of 10 days. Rates do not include a tip for your trainer. ​ 2 WEEK PROGRAM - $2,100 14 days *Must be approved during the Assessment   4 WEEK PROGRAM - $4,000 28 days The 4 week program is for dogs with mild to moderate behavioral issues such as fear, anxiety, or mild reactivity ​ 6 WEEK PROGRAM - $5,700 42 days ​ The 6 week program fits a majority of dogs with mild to severe behavioral issues. This program allows us to build a deeper relationship with your dog, troubleshoot behaviors to find the best fitting approach, and create stronger habits. Because consistency in training is so important, dogs in the 6 week program see the most improvement.  ​ An Assessment is required before a Board & Train reservation can be approved. Frequently Asked Questions LOGIN Frequently Asked Questions General Where does my dog board? Boarding dogs stay in our kennel room. We have built in kennels that comfortably accommodate all breeds, small and large! Dogs are unable to see each other from their kennels to ease any potential reactivity or anxiety. When your dog isn't enjoying play time or training, they'll be resting in their own personal kennel. This is where they sleep and eat during their stay. Can I tour the facility? Unfortunately we’re not currently giving full tours of the facility. Since we work with human reactive dogs we haven’t found a good way to give full tours without compromising their training programs and our insurance policy. However from reception you will be able to peak into the main training and play room, the outside area, and the upstairs training room. What does my dog's day look like? We group dogs by both service and temperament. Generally speaking, most dogs enjoy a few hours in the yard, which is always supervised, and a few hours of rest in their crate or kennel while another group gets to play. If your dog is here for a training service they'll still get to enjoy both of these things with the added benefit of one-on-one training during the day. We send report cards out by text or email in the evenings Monday-Saturday . Your report card will include a brief summary of your dog's time in the yard, along with pictures from their day. If your dog is here for training, you'll receive videos from their trainer, who will break down their session in the report. What is balanced training? Balanced training utilizes a lot of positivity, leadership, and common treat training, but also applies corrections when necessary such as a tug on the leash, removing attention, or a verbal correction like "pssst", "eh-eh", or "no". But every dog is different and we like to keep an open mind to all methods and apply techniques that make the most sense for not only the dog but the owner as well. If we feel that introducing a new training tool such as a prong-collar or e-collar (usually reserved for reactive dogs, and training recall), we will always discuss this in detail with the owner beforehand to make sure everyone is on the same page and comfortable with the use. The system says that the date I'm interested in is unavailable. Can I still bring my dog in? You're welcome to add your dog to the waitlist. If we receive any cancellations or our availability changes, we will reach out or you will receive a confirmation message. Our facility is by appointment only, and reservations must be approved before you can bring your dog in. If you did not receive a confirmation text or email, your reservation was not approved. What are your hours? We are open 365 days a year! Yes; otherwise known as an Assessment ! We require an Assessment with your dog prior to approving any Board & Train requests. Assessments are also a great option if you're not sure which service is right for you and your dog. On the day of your dog's assessment you'll drop them off at our facility so they can enjoy a day in the yard with the other dogs, some brief training, and some well-deserved rest in between. While we observe your dog during their assessment, we'll get a better understanding of their temperament, training needs, sociability, and which of our services suit them best. They also familiarize your dog with their new environment so that long-term board is not overwhelming or stressful. Our structured daycare provides an option for under socialized or reactive dogs to utilize daycare services. We'll provide individual yard time in a structured and safe environment. Daycare Training $150/day Daily Report Cards Pictures & Written Summary It's like sending your dog to school for the day! In addition to regular and/or structured daycare, a trainer will work 1 on 1 with your dog. At the end of the day you'll receive videos from their training sessions along with a written report from your trainer.  Daycare Training can be tailored to your training goals. This is a great option for owners to brush up on behaviors after a Board & Train, or those wanting an enhanced daycare experience.  *Must be approved for Training Daycare by a trainer during the Assessment Book Now! Minimum Requirements - An assessment is required for all new clients. - No severe separation anxiety (private training recommended) - Free of injuries and illnesses - Ongoing flea and tick prevention - Female dogs 6+ months must be spayed - Proof of all required vaccinations ( click here for required vaccinations ) ​ Holiday Rates We are open 365 days a year. Click here to view our holiday rates. ​ All daycare options are available Monday through Saturday from 7am to 8pm. There is an additional $20 charge for pickups after 6pm. Subject to availability. No daycare on Sundays. We do not charge for daycare cancellations, however please be mindful and try to limit excessive cancellations. ​ 2023 Update: Due to various viral outbreaks in the West LA area over the last year, we ask that dogs visiting other high-traffic locations (dog parks/beaches, daycare/boarding facilities) isolate for at least 2 weeks before joining us at The Ranch to prevent the spread of any contagion.
