This initiative is designed to enhance road and campus safety for all students, pedestrians, and motorists. Certification Requirement To ensure responsible e-bike use, all students, except those who have a valid California driver's license, who wish to park their e-bike at school, must complete a district-approved e-bike safety education program . Certification is mandatory and must be submitted to your school site’s administration before students are permitted to bring e-bikes on campus. Once certified, students remain so throughout their enrollment with RBUSD, unless they are cited for a violation of misuse of the e-bike, in which case, students may be required to recertify. Approved training options include : Pedal Ace (All Online) E-Bike Sense (Combination of In-person and In-class) Electric Bike Academy (All Online, Enter Code RBUSD10 for 10% off) RBPD Bike Rodeos (Combination of In-person and In-class) *If you would like another program to be considered, you must obtain approval in advance from your school site administrator. Program Success In the 2024-25 school year, 1,500+ students in grades 6–12 were certified through Pedal Ace, E-Bike Sense, and RBPD E-Bike Rodeos. As a result, RBPD has observed fewer infractions and increased helmet use. We thank the RBUSD PTA Council, the Redondo Beach Educational Foundation, and the Redondo Beach Police Department for their support in this initiative. Parental Responsibilities & Support Parents and guardians play a critical role in ensuring safe and lawful e-bike use. Please: Understand e-bike classifications: Class 1 : Pedal-assisted (20 mph max) Class 2 : Throttle-assisted (20 mph max) Class 3 : Pedal-assisted (28 mph max, 16+ only) Teach and enforce helmet use and road safety. Monitor riding behavior and maintain the e-bike in good condition. Stickers & Campus Access Certified students will receive a registration sticker for their e-bike. Stickers are linked to student ID numbers. Stickers are required to bring e-bikes on campus. Regular bikes and scooters are excluded. Stickers may be revoked for rule violations or infractions. Lost stickers can be replaced with documentation. Rules & Enforcement E-bikes without a valid sticker will not be permitted on campus and may be confiscated or held for parent pick-up. Students riding without helmets may face disciplinary actions, including the loss of campus parking privileges . Unauthorized locks may be cut, with bikes securely stored until parent retrieval. Once a sticker is earned, the student is certified throughout their enrollment in RBUSD unless a violation occurs. Other Notes Parents riding e-bikes do not need to be certified to park on campus. Violations may result in additional training, revoked privileges, or referral to community diversion programs. At this time, RBUSD does not offer elementary-level certification during the school year. However, summer sessions have opened for grades 4–5. Need Help? If you have any questions after reviewing this information, please contact your school’s site administration. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to student safety. 1500+   RBUSD TRAINED SINCE SEPT. 2024 PedalAce RBUSD Discount Redondo Beach Unified School District 1401 Inglewood Ave., Redondo Beach, CA 90278 Phone: (310) 379-5449 Fax: (310) 798-8610 Social Media Links Instagram Facebook YouTube Edlio Login Powered by Edlio RBUSD and Immigration Enforcement – Immigration Enforcement Guidance – Redondo Beach Unified School District Skip to main content Redondo Beach Unified School District Menu About Us About RBUSD Why RBUSD School Year in Review School Year Calendar Strategic Plan Employment Annual Enrollment Data Facilities Usage School Accountability Report Cards (SARC) District & School Boundaries Map RBUSD Organizational Chart Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) School News Issues Departments Administrative Services Child Nutrition Services Educational Services Human Resources Information Technology Special Education Superintendent of Schools Schools Child Development Centers School Boundary Maps School Directory & Websites School Safety Our Board Board of Education Board Agenda and Minutes Board Policies Live and Archived Board Meetings Families After-School Programs Air Quality Guidelines Children & Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) Communication Protocols Complaint Information and Resources COVID-19 Updates Counseling Plan E-Bike Certification Enroll in RBUSD Ensuring Safety Proactively (ESP) Health Information and Forms Homeless Program and Support per AB 27 Immigration Enforcement Guidance Independent Study Athletics (ISA) Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Parent Portal Access-Powerschool Parent & Student Handbook RBUSD Parent Education Series RBUSD Policies and Procedures Redondo Beach Educational Foundation Redondo Beach PTA Social Emotional Learning at Home Social Emotional Programs & Resources Student Records Tech Support for Students and Parents Virtual Calming Room Volunteer Staff RBUSD 2023-2026 Strategic Plan Staff E-mail Substitute Desk Teacher Central for Employees Tech Resources for Employees Search Search Search Families » Immigration Enforcement Guidance » RBUSD and Immigration Enforcement RBUSD and Immigration Enforcement Guidance and Model Policies for Public Institutions   In December 2025, Attorney General Bonta issued updated guidance to TK-12 schools to help staff develop practical plans to protect the rights of immigrants and their families to safely access schools and programs in California. Parents play a vital role in helping their children succeed. A parent education series provides families with the information and tools they need to support their children’s learning and well-being from elementary school through high school. This kind of program is built on research and focuses on the whole child . It also helps schools and families work together so that all students can do their best.   The Why Helping Students Through Family Involvement: Research shows that when parents are involved, students do better in school, behave more positively, and feel healthier. If schools want students to grow, parents need to be part of the plan. Responding to Mental Health Needs: Across the country, more students are struggling with anxiety, sadness, or behavior problems. Parents often notice these signs first, but may not know how to respond. Parent education can teach families what’s normal and when to ask for help from the school. Guiding Families Through Complex Systems: School systems can be confusing, especially for busy parents, families who speak more than one language, or those new to programs like IEPs, 504 plans, or college planning. Parent education makes these systems easier to understand, so families feel confident supporting their children.
