Residual donations directly support the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s programs and are tax-deductible to the full extent allowable by law. Living Performers A living performer has the option of donating in one of three ways: 1 Direct deposit your small-dollar residuals to the Foundation. Automatically donate your small-dollar residuals to the Foundation. With direct deposit, you can set a threshold to donate residuals below a certain amount. These residuals will automatically go to the Foundation as a tax-deductible donation; any residual amounts you receive over the threshold will be securely deposited into your personal bank account. To donate residuals, you will need to be signed up for SAG-AFTRA direct deposit. LEARN HOW 2 Mail residuals check(s) to the Foundation. Please note that checks must be current and not have expired. There is no need to endorse each check. They can be sent to: SAG-AFTRA Foundation c/o Development Department 5757 Wilshire Blvd. Suite PH1 Los Angeles, CA 90036 3 Deed all future residuals to the Foundation. The performer gives all of their future interest in the right to receive residuals derived from their services as a performer to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. They do this by completing a one-page Gift and Disclaimer of Interest in Performer Residuals Form to donate all of their future residuals. Please note: SAG-AFTRA performers are currently unable to donate a portion of their residuals. The completed and notarized form should be mailed to SAG-AFTRA: SAG-AFTRA 5757 Wilshire Blvd. 7th Floor Los Angeles, CA 90036 DOWNLOAD FORM Deceased Performers To donate all residuals on behalf of a deceased performer, the beneficiary can download and complete the one-page Gift and Disclaimer of Interest in Performer Residuals (on behalf of Deceased Performer) Form . The completed and notarized form should be mailed to SAG-AFTRA: SAG-AFTRA 5757 Wilshire Blvd. 7th Floor Los Angeles, CA 90036 DOWNLOAD FORM ACH/Wire Transfer Donations can be made via ACH and or wire payment directly to the Foundation. Please complete this Contribution Form and send to [email protected]. Donor Advised Funds Make a grant from your donor advised fund. A donor advised fund, or DAF, is like a charitable investment account for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations you care about. When you contribute cash, securities, or other assets to a donor advised fund, you are generally eligible to take an immediate tax deduction. Then those funds can be invested for tax-free growth, and you can recommend grants to virtually any IRS-qualified public charity. How It Works: 1 Fund Your Account To establish your donor advised fund, you make an irrevocable contribution—which could include cash, stock, real estate and more. 2 Receive an Immediate Tax Deduction When you contribute to your DAF, you may be eligible to claim an itemized tax deduction for federal and/or state income tax purposes. Because DAF sponsors are public charities, your donation is considered a tax-deductible charitable contribution. The amount of the deduction will depend on several factors, including the type of asset donated and how long you have owned it. This arrangement allows you to plan your gift when it makes sense for you and to recommend grants to your favorite charitable organizations at any point in the future. 3 Personalize Your DAF Account As you establish your DAF account, you can structure it in a way that best meets your charitable goals. You can name your DAF anything you would like; appoint friends and family members to help you manage the responsibilities of your DAF; and design a legacy plan to determine what will be done with your DAF assets beyond your lifetime, which may include appointing successor advisors or charitable beneficiaries. 4 Invest Your DAF Assets For Growth You can recommend an investment strategy for the assets in your DAF account. The assets in your DAF are invested following your recommendations. Any investment growth is tax-free, giving you the potential to create even more money for grantmaking. 5 Support Your Favorite Charities, Now or in the Future As soon as your DAF is established and funded, you can recommend grants to the charitable organizations you want to support. You can make single or recurring grants, either with recognition or with total anonymity. 6 Use Your Fund to Make a Gift Now Donors may recommend grants at any time to qualified U.S. charities. Typically, a grant check accompanying a letter will be sent to the recipient organization. The letter is personalized per the donor’s instructions and can also have a special purpose noted, such as “In honor of” or “In memory of …”. 7 Create a Legacy Gift The final distribution of contributions remaining in your DAF after your lifetime can be designated when you create or update your fund. By simply completing the beneficiary designation form assigned to your fund, you can name successor advisors to your fund or a specific charity(ies) to receive a portion of your fund balance. Planned Giving In a Bequest, a donor gives money, property or other assets to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation as defined in the donor’s will. These assets are available to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation upon the donor’s death. How It Works A bequest offers a donor a means by which they can lend support to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation through any vehicle and in any amount they prefer without affecting cash flow or assets during their lifetime. The donor can stipulate whether the bequest must remain anonymous or can be recognized by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. Specific Bequest In a specific bequest, the donor directs a predetermined sum of money; a percentage of the donor’s estate; or a particular asset (which may include stocks, bonds, real estate or tangible personal property such as jewelry or artwork) be transferred to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. Funds from retirement plans or life insurance policies can also be used in specific bequests. Residual Bequest In a residual bequest, the remaining assets in the estate, or a predetermined percentage thereof, are transferred to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation after beneficiaries have received their distributions; all estate debts are satisfied; and taxes and expenses are paid. Contingent Bequest In a contingent bequest, the assets would be transferred to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation if the donor’s primary heirs predecease the donor. In the will, the donor can stipulate how the assets in the bequest are to be used by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. Unrestricted Bequest In an unrestricted bequest, the assets may be used at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s discretion, where the need is greatest or for general purposes. In a restricted bequest, the assets can only be u Fundraising Events - SAG-AFTRA Foundation CREATE ACCOUNT SIGN IN PROGRAM CALENDAR DONATE Assistance Programs Performers Programs Rentals Ways to Support Storyline Online About Us ☰ + Assistance Programs Emergency Financial Assistance Wildfire Emergency Resources Disaster Relief Fund Scholarships + Performers Programs The Business Casting Access Conversations On-Camera Labs Shorts Showcase Voiceover Labs + Rentals Meryl Streep Center Voiceover Booth Rentals Robin Williams Center + Ways to Support Individuals Corporate Sponsorship Fundraising Events Volunteer + Storyline Online About Storyline Online® Visit StorylineOnline.net + About Us Our Story Our Team Our Locations + Contact Our Supporters Fundraising Events Slide 1 Slide 1 Slide 1 Slide 1 Slide 1 Slide 1 Slide 1 Golf_0015_1497959010 Slide 1 Slide 1 Slide 1 THE ANNUAL L.A. Award-winning author and illustrator Ashley Spires has created a charming picture book about an unnamed girl and her very best friend, who happens to be a dog. The girl has a wonderful idea. “She is going to make the most MAGNIFICENT thing! She knows just how it will look. She knows just how it will work. All she has to do is make it, and she makes things all the time. Easy-peasy!” But making her magnificent thing is anything but easy, and the girl tries and fails, repeatedly. Eventually, the girl gets really, really mad. She is so mad, in fact, that she quits. But after her dog convinces her to take a walk, she comes back to her project with renewed enthusiasm and manages to get it just right. Please read this entire page to determine your eligibility in order to apply for Disaster Relief. Lack of work due to a disaster does not qualify for Disaster Relief. L.A.-based members who were impacted by the fires, please visit our L.A. Wildfire Emergency Resource page. We continue to update this list; please check it regularly for updates. Eligibility To Qualify for Disaster Relief, SAG-AFTRA Members: • Must have been impacted by a natural disaster declared as an emergency by state or federal government authorities within one year of the application • Must be current with SAG-AFTRA dues up to the last dues period • Members are not eligible if they have any of the following SAG-AFTRA membership statuses: Non-Member, Suspended Payment, Terminated, Resigned, or Fee Paying Non-Member (Fi-Core) Note: We provide one grant per household if multiple SAG-AFTRA members live in the same home. How to Apply • Please note: Disaster Relief applications on this site require that you create a Foundation account in addition to and separate from your SAG-AFTRA member account. • Collect necessary documentation before beginning the application, so it’s ready when you need it. See the list below for more details. • Apply using the “Begin the Application” button below, which will direct you to an online, HIPPA-compliant form to complete. • Upon submission, you will receive an automated email with a copy of the information you provided. One of our social workers will contact you to continue the process. APPLY HERE Documents to Upload Please note: The following documents are typically required to process financial assistance applications, however we understand that natural disasters often destroy/misplace such documents. Please provide whatever documentation you have, and we can work with you to fill in the gaps. • One recent bank statement from any and all bank accounts, including current balance and account number – For parents/guardians of a dependent child-member, both guardians’ and the child’s bank statements are required • Any documentation verifying your residence address (e.g., utility bill, rental agreement, driver’s license) • Bills or receipts directly related to your current emergency that you would like the grant to cover, particularly focused on housing needs • Copy of a voided check, to verify bank information if awarded a grant • For cases involving medical illness or injuries, members must provide official medical documents detailing diagnoses and treatment plans. DO NOT SEND PHOTOS of injuries, surgeries, or accidents; doing so will disqualify your application for assistance. Frequently Asked Questions : ; Can the Foundation direct me to outside resources for my emergency? View Los Angeles Wildfire Resources here . The Foundation’s social services team has carefully created a list of additional emergency resources to help members find more helpful resources and services during these difficult times.
