From the reception to the examining room, everyone I encountered were true loving animal lovers. Like most veterinary businesses these days, they are corporately owned and their prices reflect that. But unlike a few other vets that I checked out before choosing them, this one did not have a corporate mentality. They are there for their true love of animals and that's what stood out the most. Read More 6 months ago Ron Dr Alvin Hong was so nice and the way he communicated with us was so kind. He explained everything so clearly but so understandable in layman’s terms. His explanations included his thought process as he went along from start to finish. We felt very included in the decision making process of his evaluation of our dog’s overall health and then he got specific when it came to the reason we brought her in. Even though you could tell he was having a busy day, he never made us feel rushed and actually took extra time to do a small procedure that needed to be done instead of having us come back. He called us a couple days later in the evening to give us the results of the tests he had done. Again he explained those results very clearly so we could understand what they meant. I really liked his down to earth demeanor. I hope he keeps working there, it’s hard to find a veterinarian these days and to find one like him makes me feel grateful. I didn’t have much contact with the vet tech that helped him in the back where they did the procedure but when she brought our dog out to us in the waiting area she was nice and upbeat. My dog didn’t seem stressed but was glad to see us. The two women at the front desk were pleasant and helpful too. All in all a good experience even though I was stressed out ( as usual ) because I was worried about my dog, we left there feeling good about finding a great veterinarian and support staff. As a bonus the parking situation is great. I was born in South Korea, and raised in Canada, where I finished my Bachelor’s degree in Cellular Biology and Genetics at the University of British Columbia, then went to the University of Melbourne in Australia to obtain my DVM degree, now living in the States married to a Chinese family! I have a broad understanding of different cultures of people and animals and would love to share my experience and stories. I have a nine-year-old daughter with whom I share the same compassionate love for cats and a three-year-old son whom I am trying to bring up tri-lingual but inventing his language. She earned her BA from UC Berkeley and her DVM from Michigan State University. After more than a decade of clinical practice in Western and Eastern Medicine, Dr. Okada pursued further academic endeavors, obtaining her PhD in veterinary biochemistry from Nippon Veterinary and Life Science University in Tokyo, where she also served as an assistant professor. Returning to California, Dr. Okada joined Seven Hills Veterinary Hospital as a veterinarian/co-owner. Concurrently, she pursued an American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) residency in Nutrition, jointly supported by Veterinary Nutrition Specialty Service, Pet Emergency and Specialty Center of Marin, and Balance IT®, earning Diplomate status with the ACVIM as a Board-Certified Veterinary Nutritionist® in 2023. Her resident research garnered the prestigious 2022 Waltham Award at the American Academy of Veterinary Nutrition Clinical Nutrition & Research Symposium. Dr. Okada’s scholarly contributions span several peer-reviewed scientific journals and textbooks, including her recent co-authorship of a chapter in Advances In Small Animal Care titled “Nutrition for the Hospitalized Patient and the Importance of Nutritional Assessment in Critical Care.” Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Okada delights in exploring diverse cuisines, staying active, traveling internationally, and sharing cuddles with her cherished 18-year-old rescue cat, Monchichi.
