It’s more of a behind-the-scenes position and no food experience is required. Teams can expect to cook and assemble raw ingredients into a meal, and then help deliver those meals to the Child Development Center and Hospitality Hub locations. Child Development Center Over 3,000 kids live in the Tenderloin and are exposed to crime, addiction, and unsafe circumstances each day. Our Child Development Center provides a safe, welcoming space where families can learn, play, and grow together through educational workshops, mentorship, camps, community events, and practical support like groceries and new clothing. Volunteer teams work alongside staff to tutor youth, host activities, support programs, and build meaningful connections with both kids and their families. Hospitality Hub The Hospitality Hub is one of our most direct and relational ministries, offering consistent, face to face connection with residents in the Tenderloin. It’s an active, fast paced environment where teams help unload food deliveries, assemble grocery bags, prepare meals, and support food distribution. The Hub also hosts sit down services. Guests are welcomed to share a meal together and participate in prayer, a short message, and time for conversation, making it a moment of connection, dignity, and encouragement. Care-Dash In the Tenderloin, many homebound neighbors live in single room occupancy buildings (SROs) and face daily barriers to accessing food, groceries, and other basic essentials. Through Care Dash, team members will help deliver hot meals, groceries, and critical supplies directly to their doors, ensuring consistent, reliable support for those who need it most. By meeting residents where they are, teams help reduce isolation, meet tangible needs, and affirm each person’s dignity, reminding every neighbor that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten. Your team will have the opportunity to connect amongst each other with the options below: Take the evening to hold small group sessions to help your team to reflect on their current experiences in the Tenderloin. Prepare a sermon or sermon series for your team to gather, worship, and listen to the Scriptures being taught by your leaders. Check out food, coffee, and sightseeing locations picked out by City Impact staff. EXPLORE THE CITY Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Is SF City Impact connected with a church? Yes, SF City Impact is connected with SF Worship Center which meets regularly on Wednesday from 4 to 5 pm and Sunday from 10:30 am to 12 pm. Moreover, we believe that the only impact that will bring true lasting change to an individual in the Tenderloin will be found through Discipleship rooted in a local church body. Is the Tenderloin safe to serve in? Every year we have over 2000 volunteers and mission team members come to serve this community. And each time an individual comes with a mind set on service, the LORD blesses with protection, peace, and endurance to fulfill the ministry they have been placed here to complete. Furthermore, the SF City Impact Staff is committed to the following safety protocols: 1. Always guiding team members from location to location. 2. Regular safety checks of our buildings. 3. Guidelines for all team members. (Announced during your Orientation) What is the goal of a mission trip at SF City Impact? We have prayerfully designed these mission trips for two purposes. One, that each individual would grow in their discipleship to Jesus Christ. And two, that each individual would be strengthened for effective ministry by the Church Body. How can I best prepare my group for this trip? Read Chasing God. Chasing God details the miraculous history of this ministry and offers context and key insights on serving the Tenderloin community. Help your team understand poverty in inner-city communities. The circumstances of individuals experiencing severe poverty and homelessness vary from person to person. It is easy to make quick judgments but we encourage teams to grow in their understanding of poverty by listening to the stories of these individuals and recognizing the need we all share for a Savior. Train your team on how to share the Gospel and pray with people. At SF City Impact, your team will encounter many opportunities to pray with residents and help residents understand the Gospel. Practicing the basic skills of asking questions, finding a point of connection, and sharing Biblical truth before your arrival will set your team up for success. Emphasize the importance of service and humility. A strong understanding of these crucial aspects of ministry will help teams effectively serve in love, both in respect to their willingness to serve (in all the forms in which it may come), as well as in interacting with residents with a compassionate and humble heart. 136 Taylor St. San Francisco, CA 94102 415.292.1770   GET IN TOUCH Contact Us Prayer Request Give Stock Speaking Request for Roger Huang EXPLORE Careers About Us Programs Get Involved Video Hub Press Kit STAY UP TO DATE Join Our Email List Careers — SF City Impact DONATE 0 Skip to Content ABOUT About Careers Our Neighborhood Video Hub PROGRAMS Programs Hospitality Hub Child Development Center CareDash GET INVOLVED Get Involved Child Sponsorship Volunteer Missions Ways to Give Upcoming Events Corporate Matching NEED HELP? LEARN MORE OUR CORPORATE VOLUNTEERS (Volunteer numbers are cumulative since 2018) CORPORATE AND CHURCH PARTNERSHIPS Bridging the Gap There are a variety of ways that your business or church can partner with SF City Impact to help improve the Tenderloin community. We meet a range of corporate and social responsibility objectives and highly value our partners who engage on a variety of different platforms. We welcome the opportunity to build a deep and multi-layered partnership that offers value to the organization and SF City Impact. If you would like more information on how we can tailor an experience to meet your needs or our event sponsorship opportunities please contact Cal Ladine at [email protected] If you would like to bring a corporate group to serve at SF City Impact please complete the following form .   DONATE STOCKS AND MUTUAL FUNDS  Through estate planning and other ways of planned giving, your gifts in support of San Francisco City Impact help us bring men, women, and children out of desperate situations. There are many different ways to leave a legacy that will support our mission for years to come. Some examples are wills and bequests, and gifts of real estate, retirement assets, and appreciated stock. Give Assets If you hold appreciated stocks, real estate, or investment assets that you have owned for more than a year, you can often donate such assets to support ministries, take a fair market value deduction and not pay any tax on the capital gains! Use a Donor Advised Fund A Giving Fund works like a charitable checking account, but instead of depositing money and writing checks, you contribute all types of assets (cash, stocks, non-liquid assets), receive an income tax deduction at the time of the donation, and then go online to recommend grants to your favorite ministries and churches. It is also an opportunity to engage children and grandchildren! Give Publicly Traded Stock If you are currently writing checks to charities, but also have appreciated stocks or mutual funds in a taxable investment portfolio, you likely have a significant opportunity to give more, simplify your giving, pay no capital gains, and improve your personal cash flow. The key is to donate these appreciated securities BEFORE you sell them. Access Retirement Assets Anyone over age 59 1/2 can usually withdraw funds from a pension, profit-sharing plan, or IRA without tax penalties. Such withdrawals are usually taxed as salary income. For this year only, you can make a permitted withdrawal from a retirement account, donate the proceeds to ministry and take a deduction for the full amount! Because of the charitable donation, most donors should not incur any Federal Income tax on the withdrawal of retirement funds if they make an offsetting gift in 2021. MORE INFORMATION For more information on estate planning and planned giving please contact Michelle Huang Scott at [email protected] As with all estate (and tax) planning, please consult a professional. Donate   DONATE STOCKS & MUTUAL FUNDS Through estate planning and other ways of planned giving, your gifts in support of San Francisco City Impact help us bring men, women, and children out of desperate situations. There are many different ways to leave a legacy that will support our mission for years to come. Some examples are wills and bequests, gifts of real estate, retirement assets, and appreciated stock. Because of the charitable donation, most donors should not incur any Federal Income tax on the withdrawal of retirement funds if they make an offsetting gift in 2021.     136 Taylor St. San Francisco, CA 94102 415.292.1770   GET IN TOUCH Contact Us Prayer Request Give Stock Speaking Request for Roger Huang EXPLORE Careers About Us Programs Get Involved Video Hub Press Kit STAY UP TO DATE Join Our Email List
