With Invisalign®, patients can straighten their teeth discreetly without the appearance of any metal brackets or wires. Invisalign utilizes a series of clear removable plastic aligners that appears virtually invisible to the outside world. Invisalign is the perfect solution for patients wanting a straighter smile and improved oral health without bringing unnecessary attention to their teeth during the process! BENEFITS OF INVISALIGN ALIGNERS The clear aligners allow patients to enjoy straighter teeth discretely without using wires or metal. Patients can usually achieve great results in less time than traditional orthodontic treatment. Invisalign aligners are completely removable making it easier to maintain oral hygiene, enjoy the foods you love, and speak without restriction. No special hygiene aids, like floss threaders, are needed to maintain good hygiene! Invisalign aligners appear virtually invisible against your teeth. Family and friends will be surprised to learn you are even wearing them! With Invisalign virtual care, it’s easy to chart and monitor your progress remotely, reducing the amount of check up visits. Frequently Asked Questions Am I a candidate for Invisalign? Teeth that are crooked, crowded, and overlapped, or that have gaps can have profound results on one’s oral health beyond their appearance. Patients with misaligned teeth will most commonly suffer from periodontial disease, gum recession, and broken or chipped teeth throughout their lifetime, all of which will negatively affect one’s oral health and self-confidence. If you are affected by some of the above situations, Invisalign may be the solution for you. What does Invisalign involve? After an exam and imaging, customized clear aligners are fabricated from a digital 3D rendering of the patient’s mouth. Translucent attachments are sometimes placed on the tooth surface to provide leverage points in order to move the tooth more predictably and then removed once treatment is completed. Patients are monitored and guided through the entire process as they change through the series of aligners. Does it hurt? It’s normal to experience pressure and/or soreness as your teeth begin to shift and as the patient gets used to wearing the aligners. Overall, Invisalign aligners feel less stressful in the mouth than metal braces. Am I able to remove the aligners myself? Yes, you can remove them when eating, brushing, flossing, or whenever you please, but be careful not to misplace them! Keep in mind, Invisalign will only work if they are in your mouth, so try not to be without them for long. It is also recommended to brush after eating before placing the aligners back in the mouth to prevent them from staining. How long does it take? Even though Invisalign has been shown to work almost twice as fast as conventional metal braces, the exact treatment time will vary from person to person. Each treatment is carefully planned and customized to the individual. Do I have to wear a retainer? It is highly recommended to wear a retainer in order to prevent any teeth from relapsing into their previous position. How Is Invisalign Different from the DIY Clear Aligner products? There are numerous Do-It-Yourself At-Home options promising straighter teeth with clear aligners, similar to Invisalign. However, these alternative products are done without the supervision of a dentist that can prevent issues from occurring or steer you back onto the path to a healthy straighter smile. Your progress is more closely monitored and therefore, significantly safer. Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic or CEREC® for short is a new state-of-the-art method of reconstructing tooth restorations. CEREC® uses computer-assisted design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to offer single-day restorations for patients. This new technology has revolutionized ceramic restorations such as crowns and veneers for patients so that there is no longer a wait between preparing the restoration and finally receiving the finished product. With CEREC®, the technology is used while you are sitting in the dental chair, which is both economical for you and your dentist. The restorations created are metal-free and tooth colored to restore your tooth to its natural beauty, strength and function. With CEREC®’s CAD-CAM technology, these ceramic restorations can all be done in one single visit to the dentist. ▶ " data-src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bTzkM6BE41s?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0" class="iframe_content1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"> The CEREC® Process CEREC® uses CAD-CAM technology to design and mill custom restorations during one visit to the dentist. So how does this process work? Exam and Preparation Before you get started, your dentist will determine if CEREC® is right for you. Depending on how much healthy tooth structure you have remaining, it may be a simple filling or you may need a crown. After reviewing your options, the dentist will begin the process by administering anesthetic and preparing your tooth for restoration by removing decay and weakened tooth tissue. Optical Impression In order to make the desired restoration, a 3-dimensional image of the tooth that needs to be restored must be created from a digital camera scan of the tooth. This three-dimensional image will be used to create the restoration without the need to take a messy impression. This means no horrible tasting impression material for you to gag on. The computer and CEREC® 3D software then converts the digital image into a three-dimensional virtual model of the prepared tooth. Milling Unit This device is used to used to create the custom restoration needed for the tooth. Based on the original color of your tooth, the dentist is able to select the correct colored ceramic block and in a few minutes, the milling device is able to create the restoration needed. Placing the Restoration After the restoration is made, it is ready to be tried on to ensure that you get proper fit and bite. When it is ready, the restoration is polished and bonded into place by your dentist. Therefore, no temporary restoration is needed and no return trip is necessary, saving you time and money. Advantages to Using CEREC® CEREC® has revolutionized the restorative process. It was created with the patient in mind in order to make a visit to the dentist as pain-free as possible. Some of the benefits to using CEREC® are: Most procedures can be done in one visit - less costly and less time-consuming Less painful injections due to single-visit No need to take messy impressions No need to have a temporary restoration for in-between visits Ability to save as much natural tooth structure as possible Longer lasting restorations - may last over 10 years Restores teeth to natural beauty, function and strength Metal-free restorations Oral Health Topics Tooth Care Dental Problems Treatment Cosmetic Dentistry Pain Management Patient Information Product Reviews Glossary Invisalign Cerec Crowns-One Visit Dentistry Whitening Patient Reviews Go to link Drs. We will take digital x-rays which use about half the amount of radiation as a conventional x-ray. Many diseases of the teeth and surrounding tissues cannot be seen when a dentist examines your mouth. An X-ray examination may reveal: small areas of decay between the teeth or below existing restorations (fillings); infections in the bone; periodontal (gum) disease; abscesses or cysts; developmental abnormalities; some types of tumors Finding and treating dental problems at an early stage can save time, money and unnecessary discomfort. It can detect damage to oral structures not visible during a regular exam. If you have a hidden tumor, radiographs may even help save your life. We use the Trimira Identifi 3000 Ultra light to screen for oral cancer. The Trimira Identifi 3000 Ultra is a high tech device that allows us to see changes in the tissue earlier than with the naked eye. When caught early, there is a 80-90% cure rate. Root Canals Root canal therapy provided by USC trained Endodontic Specialist, Periodontal Treatment Your dentist and dental hygienist will determine how frequently you should have professional cleanings. We will check regularly for periodontal disease by doing a periodontal probing. If it has been a while since your last cleaning and you have evidence of periodontal disease, possible treatment may include deep scaling and root planing with anesthetic. If you have advanced periodontal disease, you may need a referral to a periodontist, a doctor who specializes in gum disease. Regular professional cleanings and check-ups can help prevent tooth loss due to periodontal disease.
