Our Story The Producer's Loft Studio Team At The Producer's Loft Studio , our team combines decades of experience and a passion for creativity. With expertise spanning various facets of production, we work collaboratively with clients to deliver tailored video strategies. Our goal is to craft high-quality, effective video content that meets the unique needs of every project, ensuring both precision and efficiency in execution. Vic Ferrer Owner/Producer Bio Vic Ferrer, inspired by the LGBT equal-rights movement of the early 1990s, began his career producing and editing short-form videos to support the movement. His work evolved to include fundraising pieces for nonprofits during the AIDS crisis, before transitioning to producing for major brands like The Gap and Cisco Systems. Over the next 15 years, Ferrer became one of the Bay Area’s busiest freelance video editors. In the early 2000s, he produced and edited “Open Book,” a literary news show for A&E Television. In 2006, he established The Producer’s Loft Studio in San Francisco’s culture-rich Mission District. Ferrer’s strong work ethic stems from his family’s migrant farmworker background and their journey to achieve the American dream, eventually leaving the fields of Central California to become a family of school teachers. This legacy of perseverance continues to influence his work today. Beyond his commercial success, Ferrer remains committed to activism and community support, providing affordable studio access to artists, nonprofits, and independent creators. He is also passionate about preserving historic pipe organs, producing documentaries on the subject, and co-founding Friends of the Exposition Organ whose purpose is to guard San Francisco’s heroic 40-ton pipe organ from destruction and bring it back to community enjoyment. Ted Davis StudioTech Bio Ted is a skilled studio technician with a unique blend of experience in nonprofit management and media production. After years of advocating for the homeless and low-income seniors, Ted transitioned to creating impactful videos that shine a light on important issues. Outside of work, Ted has a passion for music that often inspires his creative projects. Whether in the studio or exploring new sounds, Ted approaches every challenge with dedication and a commitment to making a difference. Jake Groundwater Director of Virtual Production Bio Benoit Lacasse StudioTech Bio Benoit’s fascination for pop culture and media creation drove him in the MTV heyday from his native Belgium to the Bay Area creative hive. From music festivals and marathons to community rallies and gaming competitions, Eventbrite's platform fuels a diverse range of experiences. 02 Challenges The task was to create a branding film and commercial that captured the youthful, vibrant energy of Eventbrite's audience while highlighting the fun and community-driven nature of the platform. This required multiple locations, varied talent, and diverse scenes—all on a tight budget. 03 Solution Our production team embraced the challenge by developing a concept centered around the theme "Don't just sit there," emphasizing the spontaneity and excitement of Eventbrite's live events. To give the video a fresh, urban feel, we staged a pop-up drive-in (or walk-in) movie night in an urban alley, using reclaimed furniture and recycled materials to create a fun, makeshift setup. Adding a food truck, DJ, and a large video projector on a white bedsheet enhanced the homegrown event atmosphere. To add a cutting-edge feel, we shot the dialogue scenes using an infrared camera in our in-house studio. This gave the video a unique visual flair while showcasing our studio's advanced capabilities. We further utilized local outdoor locations, to capture the urban, trendy nature of the brand. To keep costs down, we integrated Eventbrite staff as extras, supplemented with a select talent cast to deliver key dialogue that demonstrated the wide range of activities available on the platform. 04 Results The final product was a dynamic, youthful video that perfectly conveyed Eventbrite's mission to unite people through live events. The video successfully demonstrated how easy it is to create fun, affordable events, reinforcing the platform's value. The campaign effectively showcased Eventbrite's appeal with the 60-second commercial becoming a central piece of their marketing efforts, helping the brand reach a broader demographic and inspiring event organizers around the world. Reasonable rates and friendly staff, coupled with a clean, safe facility, and all the equipment and services clients need, means productions are more successful and less stressful for producers and clients. What do you mean by “Turn-Key” services? We take an “everything you need” approach to facility rentals. Instead of booking an empty “box” and hoping you’ve remembered to schedule all the equipment you’ll need, it’s all right here. This means there’s less for you to worry about, and your production or event won’t be jeopardized by a missing piece of gear. Multiple equipment packages are available to help make sure you’ve got everything you need. This is especially helpful for out-of-town clients who need it all in one place, without having to coordinate local rentals. What is included with every rental? A lot! Clothing racks, iron, board and steamer, tables, chairs, mirrors, director’s chairs, plates, glassware, and flatware as well as many last-minute “rescue items” to help ensure a smooth production. Enough Lighting and Grip Equipment to fill a 5-ton truck with everything you need to shoot in our studio. Every rental also comes with a full-time, dedicated Studio Tech who is in the room and part of your production, from first arrivals through to “tail-lights.”. Directions TPLStudio is a four-minute walk from the 24th Street/Mission BART station in San Francisco’s Mission District and a 12-minute cab ride from downtown SF. The Producer’s Loft Studio was established in 2006 by Vic Ferrer, who has owned and run the facility ever since. Vic is a seasoned video editor and producer, with more than 30 years’ experience in the field. Can you supply crew or do I need to bring my own? In addition to the dedicated Studio Tech we include with every rental, we can provide additional crew, as you need. You are also welcome to bring your own, and we’ll make sure they’re comfortable and have everything they need to do a great job. What are your policies regarding COVID? The Producer’s Loft Studio has always been a very clean facility that takes the health of our clients seriously. Hand sanitation stations are located throughout the facility, and washrooms are always well stocked and cleaned (at least!) daily. During the worst of the pandemic, we had COVID-certified personnel on hand to verify the health of all participants. (You’ll see many reviews from that period that show appreciation for the efforts!) We continue to follow government guidelines for safety. What office equipment and services are available? The Producer’s Loft Studio has areas for producer and client workstations and an outdoor patio for lunch breaks. We also provide bicycle parking, wifi, fax, copier, printer, office support and a powerful stereo system as part of our studio service. What should I wear if I’m appearing on camera? Please bring 3-6 wardrobe options, as sometimes certain clothes do not look good on camera. Please NO solid RED, no solid white, no tightly repetitive patterns (they can create a moiré pattern), no green if shooting on green screen. Moiré occurs in a photograph when a scene, an object, or a fabric being photographed contains repetitive details (dots, lines, checks, stripes) that exceed the sensor resolution. The camera produces a strange-looking wavy pattern that is very distracting. No green if shooting on green screen. For the 2021 Postman Galaxy Conference, the keynote video by CEO Abhinav Asthana needed to showcase a vibrant and dynamic introduction montage, delve into public workspaces, feature executive presentations from Twitter, Dropbox, and Salesforce, and culminate with a summary of new Postman products and services. The video was a critical element of the conference and had to reflect the company's innovative ethos, while also communicating key advancements to a global audience of developers and business leaders. 02 Challenges This production came with several significant challenges, the most prominent being the need to film during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Safety protocols had to be strictly adhered to, ensuring that all talent and crew maintained proper social distancing and sanitization measures. Additionally, the client wanted the shoot to take place in a modern, visually striking environment, which led to the decision to film outdoors. Shooting on a rooftop with the skyline of Oakland, California as the backdrop introduced logistical and environmental hurdles, including wind management and safely transporting equipment to the 12th-floor location. Ensuring the production was both aesthetically appealing and safe for everyone required strategic planning and creative problem-solving. 03 Solution Our video production team embraced these challenges by implementing a series of innovative solutions. To meet Covid-19 safety protocols, we followed best practices by maintaining social distancing, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and regularly sanitizing shared spaces and equipment. This allowed us to ensure the health and safety of everyone on set while keeping production on schedule. We chose a rooftop location to capture an open-air, modern look, using the city's skyline as a visually appealing backdrop. Drones were used to capture sweeping aerial shots and stylish B-roll footage, which added cinematic flair and supported the CEO's message throughout the keynote. The wind on the rooftop posed challenges for managing scrims and silks, but with the help of additional crew and careful planning, we were able to secure the necessary equipment and keep the shoot moving smoothly. 04 Results The final keynote video was a visually stunning, high-quality production that exceeded client expectations. The drone footage provided engaging transitions between topics, while the rooftop setting gave the keynote a fresh and innovative feel. We were able to blend the core messaging with dynamic visual elements, maintaining Postman's forward-thinking image. The video ended with a unique behind-the-scenes sequence, capturing the entire crew and equipment on the rooftop, giving the final product a reflective and personal touch. The keynote was well-received by Postman's global audience, serving as a key component of the 2021 Postman Galaxy Conference and helping to communicate the company's vision and latest product developments in a compelling way. The goal of the project was to create a compelling marketing video that highlighted the product's ability to improve mobile communications in healthcare settings. The video needed to showcase a variety of healthcare environments and over a dozen talents, effectively demonstrating how GSMS enhances efficiency and patient engagement in real-world situations. 02 Challenges The biggest challenge was to film in numerous healthcare locations such as hospitals, clinics, and other medical environments, which presented access issues due to privacy regulations, strict scheduling, and high costs. Additionally, the project had a tight budget, making it difficult to manage the logistics of multiple shoot locations. On top of this, the project required a quick turnaround, leaving little time for extensive location scouting or permitting. 03 Solution Our video production company embraced the challenges and developed a creative approach to deliver a high-quality video while adhering to the client's constraints. To address the limited access to hospital and healthcare locations, we opted to shoot the majority of scenes using a green screen, allowing us to digitally composite the talent into realistic healthcare and lifestyle backgrounds. This approach eliminated the need for expensive and time-consuming location shoots, while still providing visually authentic results. To enhance the visuals further, we incorporated carefully selected stock footage to supplement the green screen compositions. This hybrid solution not only maintained the integrity of the script but also added production value, providing dynamic visuals that aligned with the messaging. By using a green screen and stock footage, we kept the production within budget without compromising on quality. Additionally, our team's quick execution of pre-production planning, shooting, and post-production work allowed us to meet the tight deadline. 04 Results The final product was a visually compelling and concise marketing video that AT&T successfully used to showcase the Global Smart Messaging Suite on their website and in other marketing campaigns. The video effectively illustrated how GSMS could improve communication within healthcare environments, despite the challenges of limited location access and budget constraints. This project demonstrated our ability to rise to the occasion, offering creative and efficient solutions using our in-house green screen studio to meet our client's needs.
