Dental sealants are one such preventive treatment that plays a vital role in protecting your teeth from decay and cavities. Designed for both children and adults, this simple yet effective procedure is a fantastic way to enhance your oral health. Here’s why you might consider dental sealants, and how we offer this service to our Torrance community, including the surrounding areas of Redondo Beach and Lomita. What Are Dental Sealants? Dental sealants are thin protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of your molars and premolars. These surfaces are prone to decay, as they contain tiny grooves and pits that can trap food particles and bacteria. Sealants fill in these areas, creating a smooth surface that is easier to clean and less susceptible to decay. Teeth Sealing for Adults While often associated with children’s dentistry, dental sealants are equally beneficial for adults. They’re particularly useful for those: With deep grooves and pits in their teeth Who have had previous cavities in their molars Looking for added protection against decay Interested in a preventive measure that complements regular oral hygiene Dental sealants can be an excellent addition to an adult’s dental care routine, providing an extra layer of protection that lasts for several years. Reasons to Get Dental Sealants Preventive Care: Dental sealants act as a barrier, preventing plaque and bacteria from accumulating in hard-to-reach areas. Non-Invasive Procedure: Applying sealants is a quick and painless process that doesn’t require drilling or anesthesia. Cost-Effective: By preventing cavities, sealants can save you money on potential restorative treatments in the future. Suitable for All Ages: Both children and adults can benefit from the protection that dental sealants provide. Long-Lasting Protection: Properly cared for, dental sealants can last up to a decade, offering enduring benefits. Choose Torrance Dentistry for Your Dental Sealants Torrance Dentistry is dedicated to offering top-notch dental care that puts patients first. Our skilled team of dental professionals provides dental sealant services with precision, ensuring your comfort throughout the procedure. Located in Torrance and serving the surrounding communities, weโre here to help you invest in a healthy, beautiful smile. Contact our dental team today to schedule your first appointment, or if you have any questions for our team. What Is Gum Disease? Gum disease is a bacterial infection of the gums caused by an overpopulation of harmful oral bacteria. Every time you snack on foods with sugars and carbohydrates, they mix with your saliva and form a sticky plaque that feeds bacteria. This allows them to produce waste in the form of enamel-eroding acid and toxins that can infect your oral tissues and cause your gums to become irritated, swollen, and bleed when you brush and floss. Plaque accumulates every day, and if it isnโt regularly removed by brushing and flossing, it will harden into a more damaging substance called tartar. Unfortunately, this film canโt be easily removed with a toothbrush, which is why regular checkups and cleanings in Torrance are an absolute necessity. The tartar will begin to sever the connection between your gums and teeth, causing pockets of bacteria to form. At this advanced stage of gum disease, permanent damage can occur, such as tooth loss, which can have a lasting impact on your overall quality of life. Fortunately, Our dentists are specially trained to diagnose and treat this condition to keep that from happening. Treating Gum Disease Your periodontal therapy plan will depend on how severe your condition is. Our periodontists will do everything they can to ease any discomfort youโre experiencing and reduce the impact of the symptoms of gum disease. We offer several specialty periodontal services, which weโve listed below. Scaling & Root Planing Periodontal disease is one of the most common infections, and cases that are left untreated can result in jawbone deterioration, tooth loss, and other severe consequences for patients. Thankfully, scaling and root planing is a potential treatment solution that can remove dangerous plaque in a thorough fashion from the mouth. This deep oral cleaning focuses on the areas beneath the gum line and the tooth root surfaces, which are common magnets for bacterial accumulation. Antibiotic Therapy In combination to scaling and root planing, our periodontists are likely to recommend antibiotic therapy as a helpful supplement. Once applied to the gum pockets, these antibiotics can help soothe irritation, speed up the healing process, and eliminate bacteria that may have lingered after initial treatment efforts for a more successful result. Our goal here in Torrance is to leave your smile as healthy and infection-free as possible. Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry Treatment When periodontal disease has progressed to an advanced stage, heavily infected tissue will need to be removed from the mouth to facilitate healing. At Torrance Dentistry, our periodontists have traded in traditional scalers in favor of a state-of-the-art soft tissue laser, which can kill dangerous bacteria and eliminate tissue in an exceptionally precise and comfortable fashion. Better yet, patients are likely to experience less bleeding and a swifter recovery overall. In addition to periodontal treatment, soft tissue lasers can also be used for aesthetic gum recontouring and the removal of abnormal soft tissue growths. Bone Grafting When a significant amount of jawbone has been lost due to infection, our periodontists can help rebuild it in a safe and effective fashion. A bone graft may become necessary when the patient needs more healthy structure to support the placement of dental implants, to stop the destructive development of periodontal disease, or to create aesthetic improvements. Patients can rest assured that this process will be handled as comfortably as possible. Skip footer Join our dental family today. Whether due to decay, fractures, or other dental issues, crowns seamlessly restore the form and function of affected teeth, ensuring that your smile remains both radiant and functional. At Torrance Dentistry, serving Torrance and the neighboring communities of Redondo Beach and Lomita, we believe in offering durable and aesthetically pleasing solutions tailored to each patient’s unique needs. The Role of Dental Crowns Dental crowns encompass a tooth’s visible portion, extending down to the gum line. They not only fortify compromised teeth but also enhance their appearance. Whether you’ve undergone a root canal, experienced a large fracture, or have a tooth that’s significantly worn, crowns offer the perfect solution to protect and preserve. Inlays and Onlays: Subtle Restorations for Your Teeth Not every tooth issue necessitates a full crown. Sometimes, the damage might be moderate, requiring only partial coverage. That’s where inlays and onlays come in. Inlays: These are used when the damage lies within the cusps or boundaries of a tooth. They provide a discreet solution, filling the space and preventing further decay. Onlays: Onlays serve a broader purpose, covering one or more cusps or even the entire biting surface of a tooth. They effectively restore the tooth’s shape and strength without the need for a complete crown. At Torrance Dentistry, our dental professionals employ advanced technology and materials, ensuring that inlays and onlays seamlessly blend with your natural teeth, both in function and appearance. Choosing Torrance Dentistry for Your Crown Needs Dedication to patient comfort, an unyielding commitment to quality, and a drive to stay updated with the latest dental innovations โ these are just a few reasons why Torrance Dentistry stands as a premier choice for dental crowns, inlays, and onlays. Our aim is to provide solutions that last, ensuring that every restoration not only fits perfectly but also matches the aesthetics of your unique smile. Let us partner with you on your journey to a stronger, more beautiful smile. Schedule your consultation today. Skip footer Join our dental family today. Priorities have shifted. Today, nothing is more important than the health and safety of our staff and patients. With this in mind, we are happy to share the many additional steps we are taking to make every visit to our office as safe as possible. These actions are incremental to our normal standards of care that meet or exceed all CDC,OSHA and ADA guidelines for dental practices. Our goal is to add peace-of-mind to the friendliness and clinical excellence you have come to expect. Of course, this is part of an on-going commitment that will evolve with the times. As always, we welcome the opportunity to answer any of your questions and to address all concerns. We are in this together, weโve got you covered! ADVANCED STAFF TRAINING No contact temperature checks and a quick set of questions will ensure our team is ready, willing and able to provide safe dental care โ every day. DAILY HEALTH CHECKS OF OUR TEAM Each member of our team has completed additional awareness and prevention programs to enhance their knowledge and preparedness. ANTI-MICROBIAL RINSE In addition to brushing and flossing before your visit, we will provide an Oracare solution to rinse in your mouth for 60 seconds and reduce bacteria. PRE-SCREENING OF EVERY PATIENT A quick health questionnaire and consent form along with a no-touch temperature check will be completed when you arrive at our office. HOSPITAL-GRADE HAND SANITIZING STATION Every patient will be asked to thoroughly disinfect their hands before entering the clinical area of our practice. CLEANING AFTER EVERY APPOINTMENT We are super clean as we thoroughly wipe, sanitize, and disinfect all instruments, equipment and surfaces in each operatory after every patient. CDC-APPROVED INSTRUMENT STERILIZATION This is standard procedure at all times, and nothing has changed. Anything that goes near your mouth is heat and pressure cleaned between every use. N95, ASTM LEVEL 3 MASKS, & FACE SHIELDS The beautiful smiles of our clinical team โ dentists, hygienists, and assistants โ will be protected behind double-masking at all times. Two masks are not enough. Our clinical team will also protect you and themselves through the use of FDA Approved PET face shields. Even our friendly administrative team will be wearing ASTM Level 3 masks. Donโt worry. They are smiling behind those masks! ADVANCED CHAIRSIDE SUCTION Whenever possible, we will activate high speed evacuation to minimize aerosol contamination and improve air quality. HEPA AIR FILTRATION Our air has never been cleaner. We have added HEPA-grade filters to our HVAC system along with stand-alone air cleaners in each operatory. INSTALLED CLEAR BARRIERS Hard plastic guards have been placed strategically throughout the practice โ and are cleaned regularly โ to help block the movement of airborne particle. Thatโs why weโve invested in several comforting touches, including enjoyable amenities, painless electronic anesthesia delivery, and sedation dentistry. With sedation dentistry in Torrance, CA, feelings of fear and anxiety can be greatly reduced, resulting in a smoother treatment experience that leaves patients ready to smile. Do You Have a Dental Phobia? It is not uncommon for both children and adults to experience some form of dental phobia. While it can occur as a result of various reasons, some of the most common include: Past dental trauma Fear of needles Lack of ability to maintain control (i.e. feeling helpless) Fear of being judged for poor oral health No matter the reason for your dental anxiety or fear, Dr. Yabuno wants to help make your experience enjoyable and stress-free. By discussing your concerns, he and his team can identify ways in which they can help you remain calm and at ease during your appointment. Why Choose Oral Sedation? Oral conscious sedation comes in pill form, and our team will provide you with a prescription and instructions for when to take the medication before your scheduled appointment. Once the effects have begun, patients should enter a deep state of relaxation; some may not even remember their procedure once itโs finished. When using oral conscious sedation, patients will need to arrange for a friend or family member to accompany them to and from our dental office for their own safety. The reasons you might choose this method of sedation include: You have high anxiety or fear at the thought of visiting the dentist or having dental instruments used on your teeth and gums You have difficulty sitting still for long periods of time It is difficult for you to feel numb after receiving a local anesthetic Have a sensitive gag reflex Why Choose Nitrous Oxide? Nitrous oxide (more commonly known as โlaughing gasโ) is a mild and very safe sedative that our team can administer through a nasal mask throughout your appointment. After a few minutes of breathing it in, patients should start to feel calmer, allowing our team to proceed with treatment. The biggest benefit of this sedation option is that the effects of nitrous oxide wear off just as quickly as they begin. This eliminates the need for an escort and allows patients of all ages to return to school/work right away. Nitrous oxide is typically used when patients: Experience a mild form of dental phobia Are undergoing more minor treatments (i.e. regular dental checkup and cleaning) Have a sensitive gag reflex Experience tooth or gum sensitivity Have problems sitting still or keeping their mouth/jaw open Risks and Side Effects of Sedation Depending on the type of sedation you receive, you will experience similar and different side effects. With both nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation, you will not be asleep when undergoing regular restorative procedures. While you may feel lightheaded and completely relaxed, you will remain coherent and cognizant of any cues given by your dentist and the dental team. While the effects of nitrous oxide begin to wear off immediately after the gas is turned off, it will be necessary to have someone escort you to and from your appointment when receiving oral conscious sedation. It takes more time for an oral medication to fully dissipate and wear off. With oral conscious sedation, you may also experience a slight form of amnesia, which typically involves being unable to remember much from your dental procedure, as well as dry mouth and minimal soreness. The risks associated with sedation dentistry are minimal, as studies have shown that most patients undergoing some form of sedation remain safe and without problems during the procedure. There are also few cases of issues developing post-procedure. It is important that you and Dr. Yabuno discuss your medical and health history before agreeing to receive any form of sedation dentistry. Understanding The Cost Because sedation is not typically covered by dental insurance, you may be rethinking the necessity of your upcoming dental work. Not wanting you to forgo treatment because of finances, Dr. Yabuno and his team will work with you to identify alternative methods of payment that will make it possible for you to receive valuable care and stay within your budget. Even if you discuss with an insurance representative about the possibility of coverage, you may discover the out-of-pocket expenses are far too great. This is where we can help you enroll in CareCredit, which is a financier that offers low- and no-interest payment plans. By simplifying the cost of your treatment into manageable monthly payments, you can feel better about your upcoming dental procedure . Skip footer Join our dental family today. That’s because composite resinโ a tooth-colored filling material โhas fundamentally transformed how dentists approach restorative care. What was once a field dominated by metal amalgams and gold restorations has evolved into something far more natural-looking, conservative, and patient-friendly. At Torrance Dentistry, our team of experienced dentists uses composite resin extensively in restorative procedures. Understanding what this material is and why it matters can help you make informed decisions about your own dental care and appreciate just how far modern dentistry has come. What Exactly Is Composite Resin? Composite resin is a tooth-colored restorative material made from a sophisticated blend of plastic (acrylic) and finely ground glass-like particles. When these components combine, they create a putty-like substance that can be precisely shaped, molded, and then hardened using a special curing light. The result is a durable, natural-looking restoration that bonds directly to your tooth structure. Unlike the silver amalgam fillings that dominated dentistry for over a century, composite resin contains no metal and no mercury. It’s biocompatible, meaning it works harmoniously with your natural tooth structure without causing adverse reactions. The material comes in an extensive range of shades, allowing your dentist to match the exact color of your surrounding teeth so closely that the restoration becomes virtually invisible. How Composite Resin Revolutionized Restorative Dentistry To appreciate what composite resin means to modern dentistry, it helps to understand what came before. Traditional amalgam fillingsโthe silver-colored restorations many adults still have in their mouthsโserved dentistry well for generations. They were strong, affordable, and relatively easy to place. However, they came with significant limitations. Amalgam fillings don’t bond to tooth structure. Instead, they’re held in place mechanically, which means dentists had to remove additional healthy tooth structure to create undercuts and retention grooves. The metal also expands and contracts with temperature changes, which could eventually lead to cracks in the surrounding enamel. And of course, there was the aesthetic issueโdark silver patches that announced to the world exactly where your cavities had been. Composite resin changed everything: Direct Bonding: Composite resin chemically bonds to enamel and dentin, creating a tight seal that actually strengthens the remaining tooth structure rather than relying on mechanical retention. Conservative Preparation: Because the material bonds directly, dentists can preserve significantly more healthy tooth structure when placing a composite filling compared to an amalgam. Temperature Stability: Composite resin doesn’t expand and contract with hot and cold temperatures the way metal does, reducing stress on the tooth over time. Invisible Restorations: With precise shade matching, composite fillings blend seamlessly with natural teeth, making them ideal for both front and back teeth. Versatility: Beyond fillings, composite resin can repair chips, close gaps, reshape teeth, and even serve as a conservative alternative to veneers in some cases. The Composite Filling Process at Torrance Dentistry When one of our dentists places a composite resin filling, the process is straightforward and typically completed in a single visit. Here’s what patients can expect: Preparation: After numbing the area with local anesthesia, the dentist carefully removes any decay from the tooth. Because composite bonds directly to the tooth, only the damaged or decayed portion needs to be removedโpreserving as much healthy structure as possible. Conditioning: The tooth surface is treated with a mild etching solution that creates microscopic pores in the enamel. A bonding agent is then applied, which seeps into these pores and creates the foundation for a strong chemical bond. Layering: The composite resin is applied in thin layers, with each layer being shaped and sculpted to rebuild the natural contours of the tooth. This layering technique allows for precise color matching and optimal strength. Curing: After each layer is placed, a special high-intensity curing light is used to harden the material. This light triggers a chemical reaction that transforms the soft composite into a durable, solid restoration in just seconds. Finishing: Once the filling is complete, the dentist carefully shapes and polishes the restoration to ensure a comfortable bite and a smooth, natural-looking surface. The entire process typically takes 30 minutes to an hour depending on the size and location of the cavity. Patients can eat and drink normally almost immediately, though some may notice mild sensitivity for a few days as the tooth adjusts. Beyond Fillings: Other Uses for Composite Resin While cavity repair remains the most common application, composite resin’s versatility makes it valuable for numerous restorative and cosmetic procedures: Dental Bonding: Composite can be sculpted directly onto teeth to repair chips, close small gaps, mask discoloration, or reshape irregular teethโoften in a single visit without any drilling. Inlays and Onlays: For larger areas of damage that don’t quite warrant a full crown, composite or porcelain inlays and onlays provide a conservative middle-ground solution. Edge Repair: Worn or chipped tooth edges can be rebuilt with composite to restore both function and aesthetics. Root Coverage: In some cases of gum recession, composite can be used to cover exposed root surfaces and reduce sensitivity. Caring for Composite Restorations With proper care, composite resin fillings can last many yearsโoften a decade or longer. The key is treating them just as you would your natural teeth. Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, floss daily, and maintain regular checkups at Torrance Dentistry so our team can monitor your restorations and catch any issues early. A few additional considerations help maximize the longevity of composite fillings. Avoid biting directly into extremely hard foods like ice, hard candy, or unpopped popcorn kernels. If you grind your teeth at night, talk to your dentist about a custom nightguard to protect both your natural teeth and your restorations. She attended UCLA before pursuing her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. She then pursued her Advanced Education in Periodontics at the NYU College of Dentistry. She has been working in dentistry for 9 years and counting joining Dr Yabuno’s dental office in July of 2015. Her favorite part of her position is getting to work with such an amazing team as she addresses the periodontal needs of the community! Dr. Kenigsberg actually met her husband while she was attending dental school in New York. Like her, he was an immigrant who moved to Brooklyn, NY from Ukraine with his family when he was seven years old. Together, they lived in New York for eight years and had a beautiful daughter named Renee there. In October of 2015, they decided to move to Los Angeles, where their second daughter Nicole was born. Dr. Kenigsberg holds great pride in her career and her family. Outside of work, her daughters are her biggest interest, and she loves walking with them, playing dress up and pretend, and traveling. She also enjoys going to the theatre and running. Coffee is something she is very particular about, and she would love to open her own boutique coffee shop one day. Yes! Torrance Dentistry is open to whole families, including children, adults, grandparents, and everyone in-between. Our wide variety of available services has something for everyone, whether youโre in need of a routine check-up that refreshes your smile or more advanced restorative work for correcting worn/damaged teeth. To learn more about our 5-Star dental office please see our new patient web page for more information, and to download forms before your first visit. How often should I visit the dentist? If a patient has generally good oral health, Dr. Yabuno recommends that they visit our Torrance, CA dental office for a thorough oral exam and cleaning every six months, or twice each year. However, certain circumstances (such as the presence of periodontal disease) may increase this frequency. Above all else, our goal is to help you maintain a healthy, strong smile with professional maintenance and support. Why are dental implants the right choice for replacing my missing teeth? Dental implants are highly successful for many reasons. Their structure is virtually identical to that of a missing tooth, which means that they both look and feel completely natural while preserving your oral health in the process. Theyโre also durable, functional, and built to last โ in fact, many thrive for the rest of the patientโs life. I canโt make it to a dental appointment during regular business hours. Do you offer extended appointment times? We understand how difficult it can be to schedule needed visits to the dentist when your daily routine is just too demanding. Thatโs why our dental office is open on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm! These times are perfect for busy professionals, big families, and other patients who need a little extra convenience. Dental care makes me nervous. Can your team help me relax? Yes. Dr. Yabuno offers comfortable electronic anesthetic delivery and effective sedation dentistry techniques like nitrous oxide (โlaughing gasโ) and oral conscious sedation. We want to keep patients calm, comfortable, and as pain-free as possible throughout their treatment with us. Will I have to see a separate specialist to have my dental implants placed? Not at all! Our team at Torrance Dentistry includes Dr. Calvin Dang and Dr. Violetta Kenigsberg , two periodontal specialists who have the advanced training and experience to surgically place implants. Weโre proud to be able to offer every step of this important and transformative procedure here in one convenient location for the benefit of patients in need. Do you accept my insurance? Why Torrance Patients Are Choosing Dental Implants for a Fresh Start Home Blog Missing Teeth Holding You Back? Why Torrance Patients Are Choosing Dental Implants for a Fresh Start Follow Us February 26, 2026 There’s something about February that inspires change. Maybe it’s the fresh energy of a new year still lingering, or perhaps Valentine’s Day has you thinking about putting your best smile forward. Whatever the reason, this is when many Torrance residents finally address something they’ve been avoiding: the gap in their smile where a tooth used to be. At Torrance Dentistry, Dr. Steve Yabuno and Dr. Daniel Yabuno work alongside two highly trained periodontistsโDr. Calvin Dang and Dr. Violetta Kenigsbergโto provide dental implant solutions that restore both function and confidence. With over 40 years of combined experience and the specialized expertise of on-staff periodontists, patients receive comprehensive implant care without ever leaving the office. The Hidden Cost of Living with Missing Teeth Many people assume a missing tooth, especially one that doesn’t show when they smile, isn’t worth addressing. After all, you can still eat and speak reasonably well, right? The reality is far more complicatedโand the consequences of doing nothing often prove more costly than the solution. When a tooth is lost, the bone that once supported it begins to deteriorate. Without the stimulation that comes from chewing forces transmitted through the tooth root, your jawbone literally resorbsโbreaking down and shrinking over time. This process starts almost immediately after tooth loss and continues progressively. The effects extend beyond what’s happening beneath the surface: Shifting Teeth: Adjacent teeth begin drifting toward the gap, causing alignment problems and bite issues that affect your entire mouth. Opposing Tooth Problems: The tooth directly above or below the missing one may start erupting further from the gum, seeking the contact it has lost. Increased Decay Risk: Shifted teeth create new crevices and hard-to-clean areas where bacteria thrive and cavities develop. TMJ Complications: An unbalanced bite places abnormal stress on your jaw joints, potentially leading to chronic pain, headaches, and difficulty opening your mouth fully. Facial Changes: Significant bone loss eventually affects facial structure, creating a sunken, aged appearance that no amount of skincare can reverse. Understanding these consequences helps explain why dental professionals consistently recommend replacing missing teethโand why implants have become the gold standard solution. What Makes Dental Implants Different Unlike dentures that sit on top of your gums or bridges that rely on neighboring teeth for support, dental implants actually replace the entire tooth structure from root to crown. A small titanium post is surgically placed into your jawbone, where it integrates with the surrounding bone over several months. Once this fusion is complete, the implant serves as an artificial root capable of supporting a natural-looking crown. This approach offers several distinct advantages: Bone Preservation: Because implants transmit chewing forces directly to the jawbone, they maintain the stimulation necessary to prevent bone loss. This is something no other tooth replacement option accomplishes. Standalone Stability: Implants don’t require modifying healthy adjacent teeth for support, as bridges do. Your remaining natural teeth stay intact and uncompromised. Natural Function: Implant-supported teeth let you bite and chew with confidence. There’s no slipping, no clicking, no dietary restrictionsโjust normal eating. Longevity: With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. While the crown may eventually need replacement due to normal wear, the implant itself typically remains functional indefinitely. Easy Maintenance: You brush and floss implant teeth exactly like natural ones. No special adhesives, no nightly removal, no soaking solutions required. The Periodontist Advantage at Torrance Dentistry What sets Torrance Dentistry apart from many dental practices is the presence of two board-qualified periodontists on staff. Periodontists specialize in the structures that support teethโthe gums, bone, and connective tissuesโmaking them ideally suited for implant placement. Dr. Calvin Dang completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree followed by a rigorous three-year postgraduate residency in periodontics at UCSF, where he earned both his specialty certification and a Master of Science degree. He served as Chief Resident during his training, demonstrating exceptional skill and leadership. Dr. Dang maintains active membership in the American Academy of Periodontology and the American Dental Association while pursuing continuing education to offer patients the most advanced care available. Dr. Violetta Kenigsberg brings her own impressive credentials to the team. After immigrating to Los Angeles from Belarus at age eight, she earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA before pursuing her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. She completed her Advanced Education in Periodontics at the prestigious NYU College of Dentistry. Dr. Kenigsberg has been serving Torrance Dentistry patients since 2015, bringing nearly a decade of periodontal expertise to the community. Having periodontists on-site means your implant care stays coordinated from start to finish. There’s no bouncing between offices, no communication gaps between providers, and no delays waiting for outside specialist availability. The entire team works together seamlessly, guided by practice owner Dr. Steve Yabuno’s four decades of commitment to comprehensive patient care. What to Expect: Your Implant Journey Understanding the implant process helps patients feel confident about their decision. While every case is unique, most implant treatments follow a predictable path. The journey begins with a thorough evaluation. Your dentist and periodontist assess your oral health, examine the implant site, and review detailed imaging to evaluate bone quantity and quality. This assessment determines whether you’re ready for immediate implant placement or whether preliminary procedures like bone grafting are needed first. If bone grafting is necessary, Dr. Dang or Dr. Kenigsberg can perform this procedure right at Torrance Dentistry. Grafting rebuilds lost bone structure to create a solid foundation for implant success. Healing time varies depending on the extent of grafting required. The implant placement surgery itself is typically straightforw Torrance CA Dental Implants | Redondo Beach Implant Dentistry | Lomita Skip to main content You are using an outdated browser. Whether youโre missing a single tooth or all of your teeth there are a few different options for replacement , but at Torrance Dentistry, we believe dental implants is the best consideration if you want natural looking teeth that feel good in your mouth. What Are Dental Implants? A dental implant differs from any other replacement option because it treats the entire tooth structure. A titanium post is strategically placed into the jawbone to support an all-ceramic restoration, which is attached to the implant using an abutment. Your bone will integrate with the post, allowing it to stay in place for decades with the right aftercare. This allows you to chew your favorite foods without worry of a weak jawbone or a shifting restoration. Thanks to their many oral and overall health benefits, dentists recommend them over virtually all other options to those who are eligible. The Dental Implant Process If you have lost a tooth or two over the years, you have more options than ever to rehabilitate your smile; however, only one solution recreates everything from the root up. Donโt know how dental implants work? Thatโs ok. Weโll explain everything during your initial consultation, including each step in your treatment plan, so you understand exactly what to expect while on your journey to a complete smile. Benefits of Dental Implants Replacing Tooth Roots: Dental implants are the only kind of restoration that stimulates your jaw to prevent the deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing. Enhanced Diet: Youโll be able to eat and drink anything you want thanks to the strength and stability of your new teeth. Durability: With minimal maintenance, you can expect your dental implant to last for decades without needing to be replaced. Preserve Natural Teeth: Unlike a traditional dental bridge, thereโs no need to make any alterations to your remaining teeth before a dental implant is placed. Who Can Dental Implants Help You may be a candidate for dental implants if youโre missing at least one tooth. Weโll recommend a different number of implant posts and different kinds of restorations depending on the situation. Missing One Tooth With a single dental implant, we can replace your missing tooth with an all-ceramic dental crown. The crown will be shaded so that it matches your natural teeth, and the metal implant post will be hidden beneath the gum line; most people wonโt even realize that you have a false tooth. Missing Multiple Teeth Three or more teeth in a row can be replaced by a dental bridge supported by two implants. A bridge consists of two crowns that support one or more prosthetic teeth. This is a cost-effective solution when the gap in your smile is too wide for a single crown to fill. Missing All Teeth You can get implant dentures if all the teeth in your upper or lower arch are missing. Theyโre fixed in place, so you wonโt have to worry about them slipping. You can also get removable overdentures that can still be cleaned outside the mouth while still enjoying the benefits of dental implants. How Much Do Dental Implants Cost? When getting new teeth that will let you eat and speak freely again, all patients need to take the overall cost of dental implants in Torrance, CA into account. Thatโs why itโs important to ask, โHow much do dental implants cost?โ during the initial consultation, and if you need financial assistance we can help. Our dentist can walk you through the process so that you understand the costs incurred at each stage. Your new smile will be well worth it! Dental Implant Post-Op Instructions Like with any surgery, you can normally expect some discomfort for a few days; prescription painkillers or over-the-counter medications can be used as directed while youโre recovering. Plan on eating mashed potatoes, applesauce, and other soft foods for at least a few days. Do not use a straw for at least 24 hours; doing so could knock the blood clot loose from the treatment site and delay healing. Call us at Torrance Dentistry if your pain is getting worse after 5 to 7 days. Skip footer Join our dental family today.
