Dental sleep apnea treatment, such as oral appliance therapy, offers a comfortable and non-invasive alternative to CPAP therapy. Many patients find dental sleep apnea treatment more convenient and easier to tolerate, resulting in better compliance and more effective symptom relief. What is oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea? Oral appliance therapy involves the use of a custom-fitted dental device that repositions the lower jaw and tongue, opening up the airway to facilitate easier breathing during sleep and reducing sleep apnea symptoms. Can dental sleep apnea treatment replace the use of a CPAP machine? For some individuals with mild to moderate sleep apnea, dental sleep apnea treatment may serve as an effective alternative to CPAP therapy. However, it's important to consult with a sleep apnea specialist to determine the best treatment option for your specific needs. Will my dental insurance cover dental sleep apnea treatment? Dental insurance coverage for sleep apnea treatment varies depending on your specific plan. Many insurance plans cover oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea. It's essential to review your insurance policy or contact your provider to determine your coverage for dental sleep apnea treatment. How do I know if I have sleep apnea? Symptoms of sleep apnea include loud snoring, gasping or choking during sleep, daytime fatigue, morning headaches, and difficulty concentrating. If you suspect you have sleep apnea, consult with a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis. How long does it take to see results with dental sleep apnea treatment? Many patients experience an improvement in their sleep apnea symptoms within the first few weeks of using their oral appliance. However, the exact timeline may vary depending on the severity of your condition and your adherence to the treatment plan. Is dental sleep apnea treatment suitable for all types of sleep apnea? Dental sleep apnea treatment is typically most effective for individuals with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. It may not be as effective for those with severe sleep apnea or central sleep apnea. Your sleep apnea specialist will evaluate your specific needs and determine if dental sleep apnea treatment is the best option for you. Can dental sleep apnea treatment help with snoring? Yes, dental sleep apnea treatment, such as oral appliance therapy, can help reduce or eliminate snoring in many cases. By repositioning the lower jaw and tongue, oral appliances can help to open up the airway, reducing snoring and improving overall sleep quality. Transparent Billing We're upfront with pricing and billing, so you’ll always know costs before treatment—no surprises, just clear communication. CEREC utilizes a 3D scanner to create a model of the patient’s teeth; software then creates a replacement part for the missing area of the tooth, creating a virtual restoration. The software sends this data to a machine where the replacement is carved out of ceramic or a composite resin, similar to 3D printing. Stains and glazes are fired to the surface to match the color and appearance. The restoration is placed in the patient’s mouth and the process if complete – this advanced technology allows our team to craft and place porcelain restorations in one visit. What are the benefits of same-day crowns compared to traditional crowns? Same-day crowns offer several advantages over traditional crowns, including time savings, as the entire procedure can be completed in one visit. They also eliminate the need for temporary crowns and multiple dental appointments. In addition, CEREC crowns are crafted with precision, ensuring a comfortable fit and natural appearance. How long do CEREC same-day crowns last? CEREC same-day crowns are made from durable ceramic materials and, with proper care, can last for many years. The lifespan of a same-day crown depends on factors such as oral hygiene, lifestyle, and regular dental checkups. Generally, they can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years or even longer. How long will it take to recover from the crown treatment? You won’t have any “down time” after your crown is placed. The treatment is non-surgical and does not cause any serious pain or discomfort, so you can get back to your day-to-day routine immediately without having to worry about taking time off work or adjusting your schedule. How do I care for my same-day crown? Caring for your same-day crown is similar to caring for your natural teeth. Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing at least twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings. This will help ensure the longevity and functionality of your same-day crown. Book a Free Consultation Book a Free Consultation Or Call: (510) 495-1075 Understanding Traditional Braces Traditional orthodontic braces use metal brackets bonded to teeth and connected by wires to gradually straighten teeth and correct bite issues. This time-tested treatment effectively addresses crooked teeth, gaps, overcrowding, and misaligned bites.  Braces for teeth can improve both appearance and oral health by helping align teeth, which may make them easier to clean, improve bite function, and reduce uneven wear.  Benefits of Traditional Braces Dental braces straighten teeth and align bites, but they do more than that. They effectively treat a wide range of orthodontic issues, from minor spacing problems to complex bite corrections, including overbites, underbites, and crossbites.  Traditional braces work well for both teens and adults seeking long-term results. Unlike some newer alternatives, metal braces can address severe misalignment cases that other treatments cannot handle. They provide predictable, reliable results that can last long-term with proper retainer use. Effective Results: Traditional braces are highly effective for treating a wide range of dental issues, including misaligned teeth, gaps, and bite problems. Customized Treatment Plans: Our orthodontists create personalized treatment plans to meet each teen's unique needs and ensure optimal results. Durable and Reliable: Made from high-quality materials, traditional braces are durable and reliable, providing consistent pressure to move teeth into the desired position. Visible Progress: Regular adjustments allow for visible progress and fine-tuning throughout the treatment. How Orthodontic Braces Work Orthodontic braces apply controlled, gradual pressure to move teeth into their proper position over time. The process begins with an initial consultation, during which your orthodontist evaluates your teeth, takes X-rays and impressions or digital scans, and develops a customized treatment plan  During the fitting appointment, brackets are bonded to each tooth and connected with an archwire. Regular adjustment appointments every 4-8 weeks allow your orthodontist to tighten wires and monitor progress. As teeth shift into alignment, the surrounding bone gradually remodels to support their new positions. Who Can Benefit from Traditional Braces? Seeing an orthodontist for braces benefits teens, adults, and anyone with alignment issues affecting oral health or confidence. Teenagers often receive braces after permanent teeth have erupted, typically between ages 11 and 15, when growth patterns can be guided for optimal results. Adults of any age can successfully undergo orthodontic treatment, though treatment may take slightly longer than for younger patients. Those with moderate to severe dental problems, including significant crowding, large gaps, bite misalignment, or jaw discrepancies, particularly benefit from traditional braces. Choosing an orthodontist helps ensure care from a provider with advanced training in tooth movement and bite alignment. CALL TO FIND AN ORTHODONTIST NEAR YOU CALL TO FIND AN ORTHODONTIST NEAR YOU Dental Braces Treatment Process and Timeline The dental braces treatment journey follows a predictable path. After your initial consultation and treatment planning, the placement appointment typically takes 1-2 hours. Your orthodontist bonds brackets to teeth, places the archwire, and may add elastic bands. Regular adjustment appointments every 4-8 weeks are necessary to tighten wires and replace elastic bands as teeth gradually shift. Treatment with braces often lasts about 18-24 months, though timelines vary based on case complexity, age, and treatment response. Some simpler cases may be completed sooner, while more complex corrections can take longer. Maintaining braces requires diligent oral hygiene, including brushing after every meal, daily flossing with special threaders, and regular dental cleanings.  Managing discomfort during adjustments is normal. Teeth may feel sore for a short time after adjustments. Contact your orthodontist if you experience broken brackets, protruding wires, or unusual pain. Benefits of Braces Improved Oral Health: Straight teeth are easier to clean, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease. Enhanced Aesthetics: Achieve a beautiful, straight smile that boosts confidence. Corrected Bite: Proper alignment improves bite function and reduces the risk of jaw pain. If you’re Interested in Invisalign , click here. Costs, Insurance & Financing Options for Braces The cost of traditional braces for teeth varies based on treatment complexity, treatment length, location, and the provider’s fees. Factors affecting price include treatment complexity and duration, geographic location, the orthodontist's experience, and additional procedures, such as extractions. Some dental insurance plans provide partial orthodontic coverage, but benefits and lifetime maximums vary widely, so verify your specific benefits before beginning treatment. Flexible financing options make braces more accessible. Most orthodontic practices offer low- or no-interest payment plans, allowing you to spread costs over the treatment period. Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) can pay for orthodontic treatment with pre-tax dollars, reducing your effective cost. Some practices also provide in-house membership programs or work with third-party financing companies. Book a Free Consultation Book a Free Consultation FAQs about Dental Implants What are dental implants and how do they work? Dental implants are a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. They consist of a titanium post that acts as an artificial tooth root, an abutment, and a custom-made dental crown. The titanium post fuses with the jawbone through a process called osseointegration, providing a strong foundation for the crown and restoring the look and function of your natural teeth. Am I a good candidate for dental implants? Ideal candidates for dental implants have healthy gums, sufficient bone density, and good overall oral health. Certain medical conditions or habits, like uncontrolled diabetes, smoking, or gum disease, may affect your eligibility for dental implants. A thorough evaluation by our dental team will determine if dental implants are the right option for you. What's involved in getting a dental implant? First, there needs to be a space in which to place a dental implant. So, in some cases, there may need to be an extraction first. In other cases, there may already be a space. Typically, a CBCT (cone beam CT scan) is done to evaluate the site in three dimensions. If there is not adequate bone present for an implant, then sometimes a bone graft is needed first. Once the dental implant is placed, there is a healing time, typically several months. If the dental implant is in an area that can be clearly seen, a temporary restoration can be placed. If it can’t, the area will be left alone to heal. Once the dental implant attaches to the bone, impressions are taken, and a permanent crown is fabricated to attach in one of several ways to the implant. What are the benefits of dental implants? Dental implants have long-term success rates of up to 95%. Once they are “integrated” into your bone, they will function just like natural teeth. They also cannot decay. And they don’t require any special at-home care. How long do dental implants last? In dentistry we never say “forever,” but implants can last for many, many years if the patient remains healthy, does not smoke, and continues a regular schedule of dental visits. How long will it take to get a dental implant? “Integration” with the bone typically takes three to six months, and the rest of the process can take as little as two visits for a simple case, but could require additional visits for a more complicated situation. How many teeth can be replaced with dental implants? A dental implant can replace anywhere from one single tooth, to an entire arch of teeth. Are dental implants covered by insurance? Some dental insurance plans partially cover dental implant procedures, while others may not. It's important to review your specific insurance policy to determine your coverage. Our team can help you navigate your insurance benefits and provide alternative financing options if needed. Transparent Billing We're upfront with pricing and billing, so you’ll always know costs before treatment—no surprises, just clear communication. Dental Exams and Teeth Cleaning for Preventive Oral Health Dental exams and teeth cleaning form the foundation of preventive oral health care. Regular visits help reduce the risk of cavities, gum disease, tooth loss, and oral infections, support cleaner teeth and healthier gums, and enable earlier identification of developing concerns. Professional cleanings remove hardened plaque (tartar) that can cause decay and gum disease, while comprehensive exams detect problems in the early stages, when treatment is simpler and less costly. Dental Cleaning in Oakland & Berkeley Professional dental cleaning involves removing plaque and tartar from tooth surfaces and along the gumline using specialized instruments. Your dental hygienist carefully cleans areas that are difficult to reach with regular brushing and flossing, preventing decay and gum disease. The cleaning process supports gum health by removing bacterial-harboring buildup that can cause inflammation and infection. Fresher breath results from eliminating the bacteria and food particles that contribute to bad breath. Dental Exam in Oakland & Berkeley A comprehensive dental exam includes a visual assessment and, when needed, diagnostic tools to detect cavities and other concerns in their early stages. Your dentist evaluates gum health, looking for signs of periodontal disease, including inflammation, recession, and pocket depth. Assessing enamel wear, chips, cracks, and other structural concerns helps identify issues before they cause pain or require extensive treatment. Your dentist examines existing fillings, crowns, and other restorations to ensure they remain intact and functional. A dental examination may also include an evaluation of the soft tissues of the mouth for abnormal lesions or changes. Your dentist evaluates bite alignment and jaw function, identifying problems that could lead to tooth wear or TMJ issues. This thorough evaluation helps catch issues early when treatment is most effective and least invasive. VIEW ALL THDC DENTAL CLINICS VIEW ALL THDC DENTAL CLINICS Why Routine Dental Exams & Cleanings Matter Regular dental exams provide benefits beyond cleaning alone. Early detection of tooth decay may allow for simpler treatment, such as fillings, before more extensive care is needed. Identifying gum disease in its initial stages enables treatment that prevents tooth loss and bone damage. Your dentist can spot trends such as increasing cavity risk or progressive gum recession, enabling preventive interventions. Consistent professional care combined with good home hygiene creates a strong foundation for maintaining your natural teeth throughout life. How Often Should You Get Dental Exams? Many patients benefit from routine dental exams and teeth cleaning every six months, though the right schedule depends on individual oral health needs and risk factors. This schedule allows your dental team to remove tartar buildup before it causes significant damage and catch developing problems early. Frequency may vary based on individual oral health needs. Patients with gum disease may need cleanings every 3-4 months until their condition improves. Those with excellent oral health and low cavity risk may be able to extend to annual visits, though six-month intervals remain the standard recommendation. What to Expect During Your Appointment Your visit begins with an oral health review, during which your hygienist asks about any concerns, changes in your medical history, or new medications. This information helps tailor your care appropriately. Professional dental cleaning follows and often takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Your hygienist removes plaque and tartar, polishes your teeth, and may apply fluoride treatment to strengthen enamel. The dental examination comes next, with your dentist checking your teeth, gums, and soft tissues thoroughly. You'll discuss any findings, receive personalized oral health recommendations, and develop a treatment plan if any issues are identified. The full appointment often takes about an hour, depending on your needs and whether X-rays or additional evaluation are needed. Book a Free Consultation Book a Free Consultation Or Call: (510) 495-1075 What to Expect During Invisalign Treatment Your Invisalign plan begins with a comprehensive consultation and evaluation, during which your dentist examines your teeth, discusses your goals, and determines whether you're a good candidate for clear aligners. Digital scans or impressions create a precise 3D model of your teeth. A custom treatment plan shows the projected movement of your teeth and estimated timeline. You may be able to see a digital preview of your projected smile before treatment begins. Once approved, your custom aligners are fabricated and fitted at your next appointment. Ongoing progress visits allow your Invisalign dentist to monitor your results, provide new aligner sets, and make any necessary adjustments. These appointments are typically quick and convenient. How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take? Treatment length varies by case complexity. Some patients may complete treatment in as little as 6 months, while many adult cases take around 12 to 18 months. Your personalized treatment plan will include an estimated timeline based on your specific needs. Who Is a Good Candidate for Invisalign? Many patients with spacing issues, crowding, or certain bite concerns may be good candidates for Invisalign. Teens and adults seeking a discreet orthodontic option particularly benefit from clear aligners. Patients committed to wearing aligners as directed and maintaining good oral hygiene achieve the best results. During your consultation, our experienced Invisalign provider will evaluate your specific case and determine if clear aligners are right for you. Some complex orthodontic issues may still require traditional braces, but many patients who assume they need metal braces may still qualify for clear aligner treatment. Clear aligners for teeth provide a more discreet alternative to traditional braces, allowing you to straighten your smile without the appearance of metal brackets and wires. This treatment can provide both cosmetic improvements and functional benefits by making teeth easier to clean, improving bite alignment, and supporting overall oral health. Many patients choose Invisalign for professional and social situations where they prefer their orthodontic treatment to remain virtually unnoticed. How Does Invisalign Work? Invisalign uses a series of custom-made clear dental aligners to gradually move teeth into the correct position. The process begins with advanced digital planning using 3D imaging technology to map your teeth and design your treatment plan. Your Invisalign provider creates a series of custom aligner trays, each slightly different from the last, that you wear sequentially throughout treatment. You’ll typically switch to a new set of aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, based on your provider’s instructions. Each aligner applies gentle, controlled pressure to specific teeth, moving them incrementally toward their final positions. Clear aligner treatment generally requires wearing aligners 20 to 22 hours per day, removing them only to eat, drink (except water), brush, and floss. Regular check-ins, often every 6 to 8 weeks, help your provider monitor progress and address any concerns.  The Benefits of Invisalign Clear aligners offer numerous advantages over traditional braces. Their nearly invisible appearance lets you straighten your teeth discreetly without affecting your professional image or self-confidence. The removable design allows you to take aligners out for meals, so there are no food restrictions while you’re eating, brush and floss normally for better oral hygiene, and remove aligners for special occasions when needed. Discreet Appearance: Invisalign aligners are clear, so most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them. Comfortable Fit: Made from smooth, BPA-free plastic, Invisalign aligners won’t irritate your gums or cheeks like traditional braces. Removable Convenience: Enjoy the freedom to eat, drink, brush, and floss without restrictions. Effective Results: Invisalign can treat a wide range of dental alignment issues, providing you with a straighter, healthier smile. Clear aligners are often more comfortable for patients because they do not use metal brackets or wires that can irritate the mouth. The smooth plastic material won't cause the discomfort often associated with traditional braces. Clear aligner treatment can address both cosmetic concerns and certain functional issues, improving alignment and bite function that affect your oral health. Yes — by our in-house endodontists, the specialists who do this all day. Modern anesthesia, calm rooms, most patients say it felt like a long filling. Most PPOs cover endodontic work, and our membership plans discount what they don't. Save the tooth. Skip the drama. Can you help with wisdom teeth removal? Yes — and it's done by our in-house oral surgeons, not a referral across town. Quick procedure, modern anesthesia, and a real recovery plan that includes a follow-up call to make sure you're healing right. Most PPOs cover wisdom teeth removal when it's medically necessary; we'll verify your benefits and text you the exact out-of-pocket cost before we schedule. No insurance? Loyalty Plan members get 50% off the procedure — most save more than the membership costs in a single visit. Why choose Total Health for crowns and restorative work? Three reasons. One: we make most crowns same day with our in-house CAD/CAM lab — no two-week wait with a temporary that pops off at dinner. Two: every restoration is done by a dentist who specializes in that work, in the same building as our specialists if anything more complex pops up. Three: you'll see the price in writing — including what your insurance covers and what's left to pay — before we touch a tooth. Insured patients: we accept every major PPO and bill them directly. Uninsured patients: Loyalty Plan members get 50% off crowns, fillings, and every other restorative service. How much whiter will my teeth be? Your teeth will be upwards of eight shades whiter from the initial shade. However, the degree of whiteness hinges on the hue your desire and the level of staining on your teeth. Even the mineral content of your teeth plays a role in determining the whitest possible shade. Does teeth whitening hurt? There might be a slight feeling of discomfort. However, teeth whitening typically proves painless. Does teeth whitening damage teeth? Our teeth whitening methods do not cause any short-term or long-term damage to tooth enamel or dentin. We can help ensure to protect your gums during the procedure in our office. How long will teeth whitening last? In most cases, the whitening lasts for a full year. However, the results of teeth whitening hinge on your unique lifestyle, food consumption and commitment to oral care. What causes teeth staining and discoloration? Teeth staining and discoloration can be caused by various factors, including consuming dark-colored foods and beverages, tobacco use, poor oral hygiene, aging, certain medications, and genetics. How does professional teeth whitening work? Professional teeth whitening uses a high concentration of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, which penetrates the tooth enamel and breaks down stains, resulting in a brighter and whiter smile. Will teeth whitening cause sensitivity? Some patients may experience temporary sensitivity during or after teeth whitening treatments. Our dental team uses advanced techniques and products to minimize sensitivity and ensure a comfortable experience. Book a Free Consultation Book a Free Consultation FAQs about Periodontics and Gum Care What is a periodontist, and how is it different from a general dentist? A periodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum disease (periodontal disease) and the placement of dental implants. While general dentists handle a wide range of dental care, periodontists receive additional training in managing complex gum issues and performing advanced procedures related to gum health and bone structure. What are the signs that I need to see a periodontist? You should consider seeing a periodontist like Dr. Louie if you experience symptoms such as red, swollen, or bleeding gums, persistent bad breath, loose teeth, receding gums, or pain when chewing. These symptoms could indicate gum disease, which requires specialized care. How does gum disease develop, and what are the risks if left untreated? Gum disease begins with plaque buildup on the teeth, which can lead to gingivitis (mild gum inflammation). If untreated, it can progress to periodontitis, a more severe form of gum disease that can damage the gums and bone supporting your teeth, potentially leading to tooth loss. Gum disease is also linked to other health issues, including heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. What periodontal treatments does Total Health Dental Care offer? We offer a comprehensive range of periodontal services at our Oakland office, including non-surgical treatments like scaling and root planing, surgical procedures such as gum grafting and pocket reduction, and advanced options like dental implants. Dr.Louie tailors each treatment plan to address your specific gum health needs. What can I expect during my first visit to the periodontist? During your first visit with Dr. Louie, she will perform a thorough examination of your gums, teeth, and jawbone. This may include X-rays and measurements of the pockets around your teeth. Based on the examination, Dr. Louie will discuss your diagnosis and recommend a personalized treatment plan to address your gum health. Is periodontal treatment painful? We prioritize patient comfort in all of our periodontal treatments. Non-surgical procedures like scaling and root planing are typically performed under local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. For surgical treatments, we offer various sedation options to ensure you have a pain-free experience. How can I prevent gum disease after treatment? Preventing gum disease requires maintaining good oral hygiene practices, such as brushing twice daily, flossing regularly, and visiting your dentist for routine cleanings. For those who have undergone periodontal treatment, Dr. Louie will likely recommend more frequent visits for periodontal maintenance to monitor your gum health and prevent recurrence. What are the benefits of choosing Total Health Dental Care for my periodontal needs? By choosing Total Health Dental Care, you're choosing a team led by Dr. Louie, a highly skilled periodontist with extensive experience in gum care and dental implants. Botox, or botulinum toxin, is a widely-used injectable treatment known for its cosmetic applications. It can also provide relief from teeth clenching and grinding, known as bruxism, by relaxing the jaw muscles. This reduction in muscle tension contributes to better sleep and overall oral health. How does Botox work for teeth clenching and grinding? Botox injections are administered to the masseter and temporalis muscles, which control the jaw's movement. The treatment inhibits muscle contractions, reducing the intensity of clenching and grinding, leading to improved sleep quality and decreased jaw discomfort. Is Botox for dental treatment safe? Yes, Botox for dental treatment is considered safe when administered by a trained and experienced dental professional. It is a non-invasive, FDA-approved solution for addressing teeth clenching and grinding. How long does it take for Botox to work for dental issues? Patients typically notice a reduction in teeth clenching and grinding within a few days of receiving Botox injections. However, it may take up to two weeks for the full effects to become apparent. How long do the effects of Botox for dental treatment last? The effects of Botox for dental treatment typically last between three to six months. As the treatment wears off, muscle contractions gradually return to normal. Regular treatments can help maintain the benefits of Botox for ongoing relief from teeth clenching and grinding. Can Botox for dental treatment help with TMJ disorders? Botox can help alleviate symptoms of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders by reducing muscle tension and pain in the jaw. Consult with our Total Health Specialist to determine if Botox is an appropriate treatment option for your specific TMJ symptoms. What is the cost of Botox for dental treatment? The cost of Botox for dental treatment varies depending on factors such as the severity of your condition and the number of injections required. Book a free consultation with Total Health Dental Care for a personalized treatment plan and pricing estimate. Are there any side effects of Botox for dental treatment? Book Online Book Online Dental Veneers FAQs What are dental veneers? Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted from porcelain or composite resin materials, designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. What are dental veneers made of? Veneers are made of ceramic porcelain, and they’re crafted to be an exact fit for your teeth. The porcelain veneers for your teeth are then stained and glazed, just like a piece of china. The ceramic that porcelain veneers are made of is very thin, but it’s also designed to be very hard and durable, just like natural teeth. If well taken care of, porcelain veneers will last for decades. How long does getting porcelain veneers take? Getting porcelain veneers for your teeth at our Total Health dental offices takes three visits. Other dentists typically require more visits for porcelain veneers, and you’re paying for their time. We’ve made the process of getting incredible veneers for your teeth more efficient, and we pass the savings on to you in how we price our porcelain veneers. How long do dental veneers last? With proper care, dental veneers can last for many years. Porcelain veneers typically last between 10-15 years, while composite resin veneers may last between 5-7 years. The lifespan of your veneers depends on factors such as oral hygiene, lifestyle, and regular dental checkups. How do I take care of my veneers? You’ll care for our veneers in almost exactly the same way you’d care for your natural teeth and your overall dental health. To take care of your veneers, simply brush, floss, and rinse with mouthwash. We also usually recommend a night guard to further protect your veneers from the dental wear caused by grinding. When you have veneers, we also suggest that you avoid eating hard candies, or any other very hard food that is not found in nature, since these can damage your veneers (just like they can damage your natural teeth). Eating apples, corn on the cob, and other natural foods that require vigorous biting and chewing are absolutely fine for veneers. So if you have veneers, you don’t have to worry about making a huge change. Are dental veneers reversible? Dental veneers are considered a semi-permanent cosmetic solution, as the process requires minimal tooth preparation. However, since a small amount of tooth enamel is removed during the procedure, dental veneers cannot be considered completely reversible. Book Online Book Online Urgent & Emergency Dental Care FAQs What constitutes a dental emergency? A dental emergency is any situation that causes severe pain, bleeding, or damage to your teeth, gums, or other oral structures, and requires immediate attention. Examples include a knocked-out tooth, severe toothache, broken or fractured teeth, dental abscesses, and lost or damaged dental restorations. What should I do in case of a dental emergency? If you experience a dental emergency, contact Total Health Dental Care immediately. Our team is available seven days a week to diagnose and treat your dental concerns, often on the same day. What are examples of dental emergencies? Dental emergencies that require urgent dental care include: Lost teeth Abscesses Dental trauma Pain in and around the jaw Chips, cracks or broken teeth Lost or broken implants, dentures or bridges Lost or loose fillings, onlays, crowns or veneers What can I do to reduce pain, swelling or inflammation? Try swishing gently with warm saltwater. It helps reduce infection, inflammation and pain. To make a saltwater rinse, add half a teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water. Swish the rinse around your mouth for 30 seconds and then spit it out. I have a broken or chipped tooth. What do I do? Even if the tooth is not painful yet, it’s important to make sure you see a dentist right away. The internal and delicate areas of the tooth may now be exposed to different types of bacteria in the mouth. If the tooth is left unprotected, this could quickly lead to new decay, and the dentist has to evaluate right away how serious the problem is. How quickly can I be seen for a dental emergency? At Total Health Dental Care, we diagnose dental emergencies seven days a week and make every effort to provide same-day treatment for patients in need of urgent care.
