We have two floors of event space, allowing for a seamless transition for the guests. 2. What is the capacity of the venue?  About 200 people. 3. What is included with the space? Mahogany Chiavari chairs, dinner tables, flatware, glassware, dinnerware, white linens, votive candles, and a complimentary hotel room for the night of your wedding (weekend weddings only). 4. How late can my event last? We are happy to host you until 12:00am. However, per local noise ordinance all music must cease at 11:00pm. 6. Can I extend the venue rental to include an extra hour? Yes of course. For reception only 5 hours of event time is included. For ceremony and reception, it is 6 hours. An additional hour is $800. 7. How many weddings do you hold each day?  Only one. 8. What is the tax & service charge? Current tax rate is 8.63% and service charge is 21% (both are subject to change). 9. Is there a corkage fee? Yes, of $25 per bottle. 10. Can I bring in outside food or beverage?  All food and beverage is provided the University Club and our full-service catering team. While elegant, it was soon deemed too small to host the growing membership. 1904 Serendipitously the search for a more expansive Clubhouse location began, two years before 722 Sutter would be destroyed in an earthquake. 1906 The Club’s original location at 722 Sutter was destroyed in the famous earthquake of 1906, and most of the building was consumed by fire. 1908 Formerly the site of the Stanford Mansion’s stables, 800 Powell was established as the location for the new Clubhouse. Renowned architects Walter Bliss & William Faville were hired to design the Club’s new structure. 1909 Grand opening of the new Clubhouse featuring Italianate architecture. 1917 Fine book collection acquired and the Library was formally established. 1962 The Club purchases the Clubhouse outright and has remained member owned ever since. About the Foundation About the Foundation        The University Club of San Francisco Foundation was established in 2023 by the leadership of the University Club of San Francisco, which had been established in San Francisco in 1890 as a Mutual Beneficial Club and has since grown to embrace active exchanges of ideas and viewpoints while sharing athletics, artistic performances, fine dining and beverages.                  The Foundation pursues the philanthropic mission of encouraging and supporting the education of students in university programs.  The Foundation is a Public Charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; thus, contributions may qualify as tax-deductible to the extent allowable for the individual donor.  The Foundation can accept contributions of cash, equity shares, or contributions from Donor Advised Funds and Private Foundations.        The Foundation is committed to encouraging gifted students in the San Franciso Bay Area through grants to in-school, undergraduate, and graduate programs across the city’s diverse populations and neighborhoods. The Foundation also honors young creative artists and athletes at the outset of their careers.  The Foundation’s search for worthy and qualified programs and individuals is aided and supported by many prominent members of the San Francisco community. Ways to Donate The Foundation is organized in California as an IRS designated 501.c3 charitable organization.  It will be able to provide charitable receipts for donations, and it will be eligible to accept donations from Donor Advised Funds and grants from Charitable Foundation, both Private and Public Foundations.  There are a number of ways that individuals can donate to the Foundation.  Here is an overview of the ways you may donate to the Foundation: Fund raising events Designated events will have a donation built into the pricing of the event. Individual donations The easiest way to donate is for Individuals to make direct donations in the form of cash or e-transfers to the Foundation.  As the administration becomes more mature, the Foundation would be able to accept in-kind donations and donations of stocks and other financial instruments and real estate. Individual charitable structures for giving Individuals can instruct their charitable structure to direct funds to the Foundation as a 501.c3 charitable organization.  Donor Advised Funds can direct donations.  Private Charitable Foundations can direct grants. Trust donations Individuals can direct a legacy in a will or designate gifts from a trust which may be an Estate Trust or a Charitable Trust to the Foundation. For more information, please contact  415-781-0900 Court Etiquette All members must scan their access card at the door to the Athletic Facility to enter the premises regardless of whether the door is already open or another member is holding the door to the Facility open for them.  Members may reserve courts 7 days in advance. Instructions for booking court times via the Club’s website can be found under the Reference Materials section on the Archive page of the website. It is the Member’s responsibility to ensure that a reservation is cancelled as soon as possible in advance as appropriate. There will be no pets/animals allowed in the Athletic Facility at any time. Eye protection and approved, non-marking, footwear must be worn in the squash courts at all times. Guest Policy All guests must check in at the Athletic Facility Front Desk, sign a waiver, and have their Guest Fees charged to a member’s account. Guest Fees are $25 per visit per guest. Individual guests are limited to no more than 2 visits per month and 6 times per year. Reciprocal members are also required to pay Guest Fees when using the Athletic Facility. Access to the Athletic Facility is as an amenity for overnight guests staying in our hotel rooms. Designer jeans, without holes, are permitted. Casual dress is acceptable only in the lobby and athletic facility. Electronics Usage: Mobile devices are restricted to nonverbal or silent activity. Phone conversations are acceptable in the Lobby or 3rd & 4th floor phone booths. Smoking: is allowed only on the 3rd & 4th floor balconies with the doors closed. Strictly prohibited indoors, infractions subject to a $200 fee. Cancellations policy: For Club events we require cancellations to be made 72 hours prior to the event. Any cancellations after this time will result in a charge of the full event price. For guest rooms we require cancellations to be made 72 hours in advance of the check in time of 4:00 p.m. to avoid being charged a cancellation fee. Certain events will have specific guest restrictions, so please inquire per event should you wish to have a guest accompany you. Guest Fees are $25 per visit per guest. Individual guests are limited to no more than 2 visits per month and 6 times per year. We have two floors of event space, allowing for a seamless transition for the guests. 2. What is the capacity of the venue?  About 200 people. 3. What is included with the space? Mahogany Chiavari chairs, dinner tables, flatware, glassware, dinnerware, white linens, votive candles, and a complimentary hotel room for the night of your wedding (weekend weddings only). 4. How late can my event last? We are happy to host you until 12:00am. However, per local noise ordinance all music must cease at 11:00pm. 6. Can I extend the venue rental to include an extra hour? Yes of course. For reception only 5 hours of event time is included. For ceremony and reception, it is 6 hours. An additional hour is $800. 7. How many weddings do you hold each day?  Only one. 8. What is the tax & service charge? Current tax rate is 8.63% and service charge is 21% (both are subject to change). 9. Is there a corkage fee? Yes, of $25 per bottle. 10. Can I bring in outside food or beverage?  All food and beverage is provided the University Club and our full-service catering team.
