With 14 bus lines together providing service over two Bay Area bridges and stops conveniently located in hundreds of neighborhoods throughout the East Bay, AC Transit is one of the easiest ways to commute across the Bay. AC Transit makes approximately 350 trips each weekday into and out of downtown San Francisco alone, plus there are three lines running all day and on weekends, and All-Nighter lines that operate during the late-night hours when BART is closed. Key features of the new coaches are better accessibility, rider improvements, and operational improvements. A low-floor area at a second door has room for two mobility devices or seating for passengers who have difficulty using stairs; the second door uses a simpler and faster ramp compared to the old MCI coaches’ lift. Learn more about the redesigned MCI commuter coaches . Double Decker Buses AC Transit continues its commitment to improve Transbay service with the introduction of double decker buses. These buses are brought to you by Transbay Tomorrow, a visionary AC Transit project dedicated to reduce overcrowding and improve congestion on the Bay Bridge. The double decker buses will increase capacity to 78 passengers per coach with amenities such as Wi-Fi, footrests, reclining seats on the upper deck and three bike racks, while offering sweeping panoramic views of the Bay.  Double decker buses are rolling  on lines L, FS and J. Salesforce Transit Center AC Transit resumed Transbay service operations in the Salesforce Transit Center on Sunday, August 11, 2019.  The  Salesforce Center  is located between Mission and Howard streets, from Beale to Second streets. AC Transit operates the Bay Area’s most comprehensive transit service at the new center, deploying 13 bus lines at peak hours during weekdays, using the Bus Deck on Level 3 of the building. Each AC Transit bus line has a designated Bus Bay, except for Line 800. Line 800 is serving the stop located at First and Mission streets. Transbay Tomorrow The Transbay Tomorrow Project aims to develop and implement service improvements on the Bay Bridge Transbay network. As AC Transit prepares to move into the new Transbay Transit Center and begin double decker bus operations in 2018, we want to make sure our service meets existing demands and prepare for future changes and service expansions. Click on the links below for more information on the project: Can I use a Transbay bus for a local trip? Local riders are allowed on Transbay lines E, F, NL, O and 800 , but not on others. You must inform your driver before paying your fare – the driver will change the farebox or Clipper reader to deduct the proper local fare amount. How to ride local on a Transbay bus: 1) Choose a Transbay line that allows local riders. 2) Inform the driver that this is a local ride BEFORE paying your fare or tagging your Clipper card. 3) Wait for the driver to reset the farebox or Clipper card reader, then tag your card or insert your cash fare. @RideACT Sitemap Contact Us Disclaimer Information found on this website can be provided in an alternative format upon request. These positions demonstrate support or they may be used to advocate for change in the bill that might better serve the interests of public transit agencies. Below are the current positions taken by the AC Transit Board of Director during this legislative session. State Legislative Positions Bill Number Bill Description Board Position Taken Date Position Taken AB 2168 (Wicks) Active Transportation Program Guidelines This bill updates the state’s Active Transportation Program (ATP), which funds walking and biking projects. It adds improving access to public transit as a core goal and expands eligibility to include projects in transit-rich and infill areas. AB 2168 gives higher priority to projects that invest at least half of their transportation improvement funds in walking and biking, and adds new criteria focused on safety, access to transit, disadvantaged communities, and community input. The bill also directs the California Transportation Commission to update program guidelines to encourage the use of State Transportation Improvement Program funds for larger, more impactful active transportation projects- especially those that enhance transit access. To ensure accountability, AB 2168 requires penalties for applicants that previously received ATP grant funds but failed to use them on time. Support 4/22/26 AB 1944 (Lee): Zero-emission transit buses: axle weight. This bill would update the axle-weight rules for zero-emission buses (ZEBs) by delaying the dates when stricter weight limits take effect. This bill will give agencies more time and flexibility to buy ZEBs that currently weigh more than the legal limit. Doing so facilitates continued compliance with the California Air Resources Board’s Innovative Clean Transit regulation. Support 3/25/26 AB 1599 (Ahrens): Public transit: California Transit Stop Registry: transit datasets. This bill directs Caltrans to create a statewide Transit Stop Registry with unique IDs for every stop, which all transit operators must include in their route information. Watch 3/25/26 SB 1166 (Arreguín): Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District: employee relations. This bill shifts responsibility for handling unfair labor practice complaints at AC Transit from the District’s internal process to the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB). Watch 3/25/26 SB 1408 (Arreguín) Local Transportation Authority and Improvement Act: Contra Costa Transportation Authority. This bill would allow the Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) to place a sales tax of up to 1% on the ballot and permit voters to propose their own sales tax measure through a citizen initiative. Th bill also grants CCTA sweeping new authority over transit, including control over coordinating all transit service in the county, declaring CCTA a transit district, and authorizing it to operate transit service directly. While the bill does not explicitly give CCTA access to State Transit Assistance operating funds, this new status could enable the agency to pursue STA revenue in the future. Watch 3/25/26 AB 1837 (Gonzalez) This bill extends indefinitely the authority for transit operators to use camera technology to enforce parking violations in transit-only lanes and at transit stops. It also provides the optional authority to enforce illegal parking in bike lanes and double-parking. Support 2/25/26 AB 1250 (Papan) This bill requires transit operators, by June 1, 2027, to use a streamlined recertification process for persons who have previously been determined to be eligible for paratransit service to have their eligibility reviewed. Realign is AC Transit’s all-new bus network — designed to match how the East Bay travels today. Shaped by two years of community outreach and in-depth data analysis, Realign delivers better frequency with improved connections for more reliable bus lines. Full Realign Service Changes now available. Full Service Changes Community Built You spoke. We listened. Realign was shaped by more than 22,000 riders and East Bay residents through surveys, public meetings, and on-the-ground outreach to ensure all the communities we serve had a say in the future of AC Transit. Driven by Equity Realign prioritizes those who depend on transit daily — including low-income communities, seniors, and riders with disabilities — by preserving and strengthening bus lines where they’re needed most. Backed by Data Over two years we conducted a data-driven review of each of our bus lines. Using bus ridership patterns, travel data, and demographic studies, we mapped how people move today. What Riders can Expect Starting in August, the Realign Service Changes aim to deliver more reliable service, new destinations, and simplified routes. AC Transit’s all-new bus network is built with flexibility, allowing it to adapt to shifting ridership patterns and the East Bay’s evolving communities. A gift from the Global Data Registry

When the Global Data Registry crawled https://www.actransit.org/, we found no structured data — the language AI systems use to understand and describe a business online.

Schema is how ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity know what your business does and how to describe you accurately to your customers. Without it, AI systems are guessing.

The most important field in this block is sameAs — a verified edge connecting your website to your permanent record at the Global Data Registry. This is a free, confirmed link to a real verified source. It costs nothing and gives your website a confirmed node in the graph that AI systems traverse when building answers about your business.

Copy the block below and paste it into the <head> of your website. Or drop it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask it to extend it with your full business details — that is the fastest path to a complete schema record.

▶   What is schema?

Schema is a standard vocabulary maintained at schema.org that lets websites describe themselves in a language machines can read. When you add schema to your website, you are telling AI systems, search engines, and knowledge graphs exactly what your business is and how it connects to the rest of the web.
