Further, on February 13, 2023, Governor Newsom issued  Executive Order N-3-23 , which provides an update on water use and supply conditions in California.  Please call Kit Soo at 510-668-4455, Well Ordinance Supervisor, for more information regarding how the new water well permitting requirements may impact ACWD’s permit application process. As required by ACWD Ordinance No. 2010-01, drilling permits are required prior to the start of any subsurface drilling activities for wells, exploratory holes, and other excavations. ACWD also requires a permit for inactive classification for any well or other excavation which will not be used for a period of 12 months, but which the owner intends to use in the future. Please read the permit instructions to ensure submittal of a complete permit application package. Finding and fixing leaks as soon as possible can avoid surprise water bills or property damage.  If you suspect a water leak or received an alert, use this page and explore the below resources to guide you: Checking for Leaks with AMI - Step-by-Step instructions for using AMI to check for leaks and tips on finding and fixing common sources of leaks in your home Perform a Leak Isolation Test 1. Locate your shut-off valve to the inside of your home (usually in the front yard near a spigot). 2. Turn the valve off and note the time. For best results, leave it off overnight. 3. Check Valve Function a. If the valve won't turn or spins freely, it needs repair or replacement by a plumber. b. After shutting off, turn on a faucet inside your home. If water still flows, the valve isn't working properly and will need repair by a plumber. 4. Verify water usage on portal.acwd.org   a. The next day, log in to the portal and check your usage for the time the valve was off (data refreshes every 6-8 hours). b. If there is usage during the shut-off: Leak is likely outside. If you have a separate irrigation shut off valve, try the same isolation test to determine an irrigation leak.  c. If there is no usage during shut-off: Leak is likely inside your home. 5. DON'T FLUSH. Wait 20 minutes. If color appears in the toilet bowl, you have a leak. Fixes :  Toilet Flapper: Old or worn-out flappers can cause leaks. A simple rule, if the flapper is 5+ years old, it's time for a replacement.  Overflowing Fill Valve: Water level should stop about a 1/2 inch below the overflow pipe. Adjust the float screw if needed.  * Request free dye tablets via email , pick them up at our headquarters (43885 S. Grimmer Blvd., Fremont) or receive free dye tablets and a flapper by ordering a free Fix-A-Leak Kit . A broken or missing sprinkler head can waste as much as 25,000 gallons of water a month during irrigation season! Look for: Extra green grass or moss Dry patches = broken or misaligned sprinkler heads Wet/muddy spots = old/cracked parts Leaks while the system is running = geysers or puddling from lateral line leaks Leaking irrigation valves  Leaking hose bibbs  Fix: Dig around to inspect Clean or replace old valves and seals  Manually run your sprinklers and check for leaks and adjustments twice a year - once after winter, and once in mid-summer. Pay My Bill/ My Account Search Rapid Alert Notification Home About Us Emergency Preparedness Emergency Preparedness Preparing for Disaster There’s no getting around it - the Bay Area is in for another major earthquake. In fact, experts predict a 70% chance of a magnitude 6.7 or greater earthquake occurring in the San Francisco Bay Area within the next 30 years. Are you and your family prepared for such a disaster? While ACWD’s disaster preparedness efforts include extensive measures to protect the water system from damage resulting from earthquakes, many breaks in our water system pipelines will undoubtedly occur. In fact, the damage to ACWD’s system from a major earthquake could be so severe that the reliable supply of high quality drinking water our customers rely upon and have learned to expect could be interrupted for an extended period of time. That’s why one of the most important things that you can do to get ready for an earthquake (or any other disaster) is to store an adequate amount of emergency drinking water. You can survive weeks without food, but only a few days without water. In addition to the emergency preparedness resource links and FAQs provided in the menu boxes on the right of this page, ACWD strongly encourages you to complete the Family Disaster Planning Worksheet (PDF) . Family Disaster Planning Worksheet (PDF) Use this worksheet to create an emergency communications plan, supply kit, and action plans for you and your family. The short amount of time it takes you to complete this worksheet and properly prepare can make all the difference for how well you and your family safely endure a disaster situation! A gift from the Global Data Registry

When the Global Data Registry crawled https://www.acwd.org/, we found no structured data — the language AI systems use to understand and describe a business online.

Schema is how ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity know what your business does and how to describe you accurately to your customers. Without it, AI systems are guessing.

The most important field in this block is sameAs — a verified edge connecting your website to your permanent record at the Global Data Registry. This is a free, confirmed link to a real verified source. It costs nothing and gives your website a confirmed node in the graph that AI systems traverse when building answers about your business.

Copy the block below and paste it into the <head> of your website. Or drop it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask it to extend it with your full business details — that is the fastest path to a complete schema record.

▶   What is schema?

Schema is a standard vocabulary maintained at schema.org that lets websites describe themselves in a language machines can read. When you add schema to your website, you are telling AI systems, search engines, and knowledge graphs exactly what your business is and how it connects to the rest of the web.
