Our general funds, the Brandeis Fund and the Martin and Vanessa Friedman General Fund go directly to supporting Brandeis Marin’s most urgent needs. Ignite our future by giving today! make a gift We are so grateful for Brandeis Marin. We just moved here last year from NYC, and the administration, teachers, and broader community made our family's transition so much easier. The culture of the school is truly warm, loving, down to earth, and welcoming. It has a great vibe. The academics are excellent as are the teachers and they keep it rigorous but also fun and engaging. Also, the music and sports programs are great too. It is a beautiful gem of a school and community." Carl J.  Brandeis Parent Post No post to display. Grade Level Themes grade 1: relationships First graders study the complex relationship between environmental habitats and their own families and homes. They use Design Thinking to learn about empathy and mindfulness techniques to understand how to work together with their classmates and how to be their best selves. Jewish values serve as guideposts in teaching students to consider the importance of their own behavior and their relationships at home, at school and in the larger community. Additionally, students ponder the rhythm of the calendar year by tracking the connections between Jewish holidays and the phases of the moon. grade 2: exploration In second grade, our theme is exploration . Students take their natural curiosity and growing knowledge to a deeper level through thoughtful questioning, learning, and discovery. We explore the idea of community and the many communities we are part of—at school, at home, and around the world. Students build geographic skills and dive into non-fiction research and writing as they study countries across the globe. This learning culminates in our beloved Food Truck Project, where each student becomes an expert on a chosen country and shares a recipe connected to their research. Second grade is truly a special year of exploring who students are as learners, citizens, and members of the Brandeis Marin community and beyond. grade 3:  communities Third graders examine the theme of community. The children explore and define the many communities in which they belong. Along the way they create personal “All About Me” newspapers and research leaders who help(ed) guide and strengthen communities. Through service learning and our Buddy programs, students have frequent real-life opportunities to give back to their communities. grade 4: perspective Fourth graders view every area of the curriculum from multiple perspectives. They study the development of the State of California and the modern State of Israel first through their own eyes and subsequently through the lens of contemporary people who migrated to these lands. Hands-on projects, literature studies, numerous field trips, observations and critical thinking bring the lessons to life throughout the year. Fourth graders apply the values learned from each of these units to their own lives, reflecting on the effects of their personal actions and how to use empathy while making decisions. grade 5: leadership Fifth graders are our lower school leaders and role models. They train as recess leaders and help our younger students solve issues on the playground. In their classes, they reflect on the notable leaders of our country and on leaders in the Torah. From the successes of early settlers and political visions of the founding fathers to the moral authority of Moses, fifth graders study what characteristics make a successful leader––and apply them to today’s world. Nestled against a hillside on the Lonee C. Hoytt Jewish Campus, our beautiful, spacious facility is shared with the Osher Marin JCC and Congregation Rodef Sholom. Students enjoy abundant opportunities to play, explore, and grow, with access to a lap pool, full-size gym, expansive athletic field, two playgrounds (including one just for kindergarteners), an art studio with a kiln, and a dedicated robotics and technology lab. Hands-on learning continues in the organic garden and chicken coop, where students explore sustainability, life cycles, kindness, and responsibility. We use the sacred space of Congregation Rodef Sholom for weekly all-school gatherings and as a place for students and parents alike to grow and connect as a community. you belong here apply visit inquire START YOUR JOURNEY Facebook (opens in new window/tab) Instagram (opens in new window/tab) YouTube (opens in new window/tab) 180 N. Academics At Brandeis Marin, our Kindergarten program is built on strong academic foundations while remaining developmentally responsive to young learners. We intentionally nurture the skills children need to develop academic fluency in reading, writing, mathematics, and critical thinking, recognizing that students grow at different paces. Our goal is to move each child forward as far as possible in every area of the curriculum. Early literacy is a cornerstone of our Kindergarten program . We use Fundations, a research-based, multisensory reading program aligned with the Science of Reading, to provide explicit instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, handwriting, and early reading skills. Daily literacy instruction builds accuracy, confidence, and strong habits of mind, while ongoing reading and writing experiences foster a love of language and storytelling. In mathematics, we use Bridges in Mathematics, a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes number sense, addition and subtraction, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving. Students engage in hands-on activities, math discourse, and practice that build both conceptual understanding and fluency. Our academic program is further strengthened through project-based learning, which allows students to apply skills across disciplines in meaningful, real-world contexts. While our approach is informed by child-centered and inquiry-based practices (including elements inspired by Reggio Emilia), learning is carefully planned, teacher-guided, and anchored in clear academic outcomes. Projects often serve as a bridge between subjects. A block-building project, for example, may become the foundation for mathematical exploration, creative writing, measurement, and storytelling. Students regularly write about their projects, strengthening literacy skills while reflecting on their thinking and problem-solving processes. Kindergartners also explore the scientific world through structured investigation and discovery. Students conduct age-appropriate experiments, practice observation and record-keeping, and engage in collaborative discussion. Ongoing exposure to animals—including caring for classroom pets and school chickens—supports learning about biology, responsibility, and empathy. Our outdoor campus provides daily opportunities to explore plants, insects, and natural systems, reinforcing scientific curiosity and environmental stewardship. Creativity, collaboration, and innovation are woven throughout the Kindergarten experience. These elements complement—rather than replace—our academic goals. Students leave Kindergarten as confident early readers, capable mathematicians, thoughtful writers, and curious learners, well prepared for the academic expectations of Grade 1 and beyond. Social Skills and Jewish Values Kindergarten is a pivotal time for students to develop the social and emotional skills that support successful collaboration and independent learning. Through daily classroom routines and structured class meetings, students practice expressing ideas, needs, and concerns clearly while also listening thoughtfully to the perspectives of others. We intentionally teach skills such as sharing, turn-taking, problem-solving, and self-advocacy in a respectful, judgment-free environment. Our social-emotional curriculum is strengthened through the Wayfinder program, developed by Stanford’s d.school, which helps students build self-awareness, empathy, resilience, and a sense of purpose—skills that directly support academic engagement and lifelong learning. Jewish values are the cornerstone of our school culture and are woven throughout everyday learning. Kindness, integrity, service, personal responsibility, and social justice guide both classroom interactions and curricular experiences. MUSIC Improvisation, creativity, and performance are at the heart of our music program, where classical foundations meet contemporary expression. Students engage in rock bands, string and wind ensembles, and choruses, gaining a rich and well-rounded musical education. Across all grade levels, students perform throughout the year—sharing their talents at Winter and Spring Concerts, community venues, and weekly Tefillah services, bringing music to life across our school and beyond. All K-8 students will engage musically at these five core levels: Creativity : play, improvise, compose, jam, and create Physicality : rhythm, technique, coordination, movement, and dance Performance : interpretation, analysis, rehearsal, accountability, presentation, and pride Community : communication, identity, belonging, and collaboration Knowledge : cultural, global, theoretical, practical, and historical DRAMA Regardless of what we think of as “talent,” everyone can act, and everyone can contribute to the profound group experience that purposefully playing together brings. With the tools of discipline, open-mindedness, and positive risk-taking, all can succeed in drama. Participating in theater also requires students to reflect on how they see themselves, their work, their moral center, and their convictions. In theater, we engage with: The kinesthetic: We train the natural abilities of voice, body, and face to create a specific character and story The emotional: We create a bonded ensemble that provides supportive and caring attention to everyone in the group The intellectual: We do close reading of the text to decode dialogue and subtext The relational: We learn to understand social relationships in a play, which helps us to ask better questions of ourselves, our community, and the world Drama Post RSS Feeds Subscribe to Post Alerts Texan Flair in No-Horse Town The 7th and 8th grade Drama Elective nailed it  with their performances of No-Horse Town by Lindsey Price—a quirky, laugh-out-loud comedy set in the very strange Texas town of Heywood. Do both parents need to be employed to receive flexible tuition? What about divorced, separated, or never-married parents? What if my flexible tuition is higher than I believe I can afford? If we have questions regarding flexible tuition, who should we call? What is Flexible Tuition? Brandeis Marin designates a substantial amount of money for tuition assistance to qualifying families on a yearly basis. We are proud of this tradition, which allows us to serve our families and ensure a dynamic and diverse student population. While every family is expected to contribute to the cost of tuition and fees and to support the community to the extent individual family circumstances permit, the school does not expect all families to pay tuition at the highest level. Tuition is set based on each family’s unique financial situation. We are a community that encircles them with open hearts and minds. We challenge them, encourage them, guide them and prepare them. Our project-based curriculum is rigorous, yet inclusive of diverse learning styles and backgrounds. Year after year, our students are routinely accepted into the high schools of their choice.     Grade Level Themes sixth grade:  freedom and responsibility Sixth graders enter their middle school years invigorated by their newfound freedom, but also daunted by the increased responsibility such freedom entails. Students explore these weighty concepts across the curriculum and create a foundation to develop and use strategies to balance new expectations. seventh grade: identity and community The perennial seventh grade questions are: Who am I and where do I fit in? By exploring stories of identity development and integration, students learn how to find affinity and connection with others, how to contribute to their communities and how membership in any group involves the responsibility to preserve and protect it. eighth grade: self and society As they gear up for the important transition to high school, eighth graders prepare to transcend their own individual needs and even the needs of their own close-knit Brandeis community to consider the greater society and their place in it. They thrive as role models through our Kindergarten buddy program, explore leadership opportunities in Student Council and weekly services and, during their mid-year trip to Israel, serve as ambassadors not only for their school and community, but also their country. Inside and outside the classroom, they are supported in their journey to be ethical, compassionate leaders in their greater community, high school and beyond. Middle School Spotlight YOSEMITE! A gift from the Global Data Registry

When the Global Data Registry crawled http://www.brandeismarin.org/, we found no structured data — the language AI systems use to understand and describe a business online.

Schema is how ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity know what your business does and how to describe you accurately to your customers. Without it, AI systems are guessing.

The most important field in this block is sameAs — a verified edge connecting your website to your permanent record at the Global Data Registry. This is a free, confirmed link to a real verified source. It costs nothing and gives your website a confirmed node in the graph that AI systems traverse when building answers about your business.

Copy the block below and paste it into the <head> of your website. Or drop it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask it to extend it with your full business details — that is the fastest path to a complete schema record.

▶   What is schema?

Schema is a standard vocabulary maintained at schema.org that lets websites describe themselves in a language machines can read. When you add schema to your website, you are telling AI systems, search engines, and knowledge graphs exactly what your business is and how it connects to the rest of the web.
