We acknowledge that Butte College and its satellite campuses stand on lands that were originally occupied by the first people of this area, and we recognize and honor the Maidu, Wintun, Wailaki and Nomlaki Tribes. We thank them for their strength and resilience in protecting this land for centuries and aspire to uphold our responsibilities according to their example. In offering this land acknowledgement, we affirm Native American sovereignty, history, and experiences.

The Roadrunners were led by a dramatic finish in the men’s 1,500-meter race, where freshman Adrian Cuevas surged in the final stretch to secure the conference title. Trailing College of the Redwoods’ Dylan Rodriguez for most of the race, Cuevas made his move in the final 100 meters, edging ahead to win by just 0.16 seconds with a time of 4:10.14. Cuevas’ victory helped propel the men’s team to a dominant first-place finish ahead of Shasta, Redwoods, Yuba, and Lake Tahoe. The women’s team also captured the conference title, scoring 88 points to outpace Shasta, Redwoods, Yuba, and Lake Tahoe in a competitive field. Overall, Butte College athletes claimed 11 individual conference championships on the day. On the track, Brady Johnson won the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:25.55), Carter Kroschel took first in both the 110-meter hurdles (16.16) and 400-meter hurdles (57.19), and Tristan Bobadilla captured the 800-meter title (1:58.52). In the field events, Costantino Thompson delivered one of the top performances of the meet, nearly breaking the Butte College high jump record with a mark of 6 feet, 4.75 inches. Additional men’s field event champions included Kroschel in pole vault (11-7.25), Alex Hancock in both long jump (21-1.5) and triple jump (43-10.75), and Ezzard Teats in shot put (40-7.75) and discus (136 feet). On the women’s side, one of the most exciting races came in the 400 meters, where sophomore Kaitlyn Paul recorded a personal best time of 59.17 seconds to finish second in a close battle with Shasta’s Talyn Hanly. Despite narrowly missing first, Paul’s performance marked a major milestone in her final home meet. Paul also contributed to a strong showing in the relays. She teamed with Malaea Reid, Lindsey Becker, and Ariana Garcia to finish second in the 400-meter relay (51.69) and then helped lead the same group to a first-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay (4:22.57), finishing well ahead of the competition. Other conference champions for the women included Jennifer Johnson in the 10,000 meters (42:46.09), Ariana Garcia in the 1,500 (5:10.62), and Paulina Arias in the 5,000 meters (19:47.68). Lindsey Becker also took first place in the pole vault with a mark of 8 feet. Head coach Jon Hayes praised the team’s overall effort and noted the continued progress of athletes like Paul as they push toward postseason competition. With strong performances across both track and field events, the Roadrunners now turn their focus to the upcoming NorCal Championships in Santa Rosa, where they will look to build on their conference success and qualify athletes for the state meet. ### Media Contact Christian Gutierrez Public Relations Officer Phone: 530-895-2959 Email:
