BCFB is a non-profit organization of farmers and ranchers with over 1,300 members throughout the county, and is part of California Farm Bureau Federation’s 40,000 members throughout the state. Both the county and state farm bureau members are automatically enrolled as members of the American Farm Bureau Federation, which boasts over 6.2 million members in the 50 states and Puerto Rico.
Our organization works not only with members, but also with elected officials, media, government agencies, educators, and consumers to analyze and solve issues (both social & economical) facing the agriculture industry.

Gerald M. Geiger Scholarship Qualifications: Plan to major in Agriculture or closely related subject; Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher. Gary Griswold Ag Business Scholarship Qualifications: Plan to major in Ag Business, Ag Communication, Ag Finance or closely related subject; Have a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher. Butte Young Farmers & Ranchers Qualifications: 2.5 GPA Applicant must enroll in an agriculture major or in an agriculture related trade school program like mechanics, welding, etc. The 2026 application period has closed. Everyone operating a class C vehicle carrying hazardous material must be trained according to the requirements set forth in Section 172.704(d) of Title 49 CFR. Training is required within 90 days of hire and every three years recurring. Upon completion of this class, attendees will need to submit their own application with a certificate of training to the California Highway Patrol who will then issue the HAM certificate. Once the certificate is obtained from the CHP, it must be submitted along with a medical certificate to the CA DMV with applicable fees. Must be 21 years or older. Please find below the necessary information to submit your grant application. Applications from Butte, Glenn and Tehama County producers can be submitted with priority to Butte County producers and those qualifying as socially disadvantaged in Butte County. The State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program (SWEEP) provides financial assistance to farmers and ranchers in the form of grants to implement irrigation systems that reduce greenhouse gases and save water on California agricultural operations. Eligible system components include (but not limited too): soil moisture monitoring drip systems switching to low-pressure irrigation systems pump retrofits variable frequency drives, and installation of renewable energy to reduce on-farm water use and energy. Butte County SWEEP Grant Guidelines Online BCFB SWEEP Application Please note: All applicants will be required to create a jot form account to apply online. Applicants must submit the following attachments within the JotForm: Project design Completed Budget Worksheet Solar system quote if the applicant is proposing a solar installation. Completed SWEEP Irrigation Water Savings Assessment Tool and Completed GHG Calculator Tool OR the report from the SWEEP Project Assessment Tool Twelve consecutive months of baseline GHG emission/energy documentation for any pumps that provide water to the project location, e.g., fuel receipts or utility bills. For projects in which irrigation is gravity-fed and there are no existing energy inputs, BCFB will require an attestation that there are no energy inputs at the project site.
