[email protected] 503.231.9334 Instagram Facebook A Message from the Executive Director The city of Portland is experiencing the worst homeless and addiction crisis in years. In this season, we want to show the community that we have made an unwavering commitment to serve our most vulnerable neighbors. Without organizations like CityTeam who provide proven and lasting solutions, the crisis will only get worse. CityTeam holds a very special place in my heart because in the fall of 2018, I found myself homeless and suffering from addiction right here on the streets of Portland. With no one else to turn to for help, CityTeam was there to provide a safe place to sleep, a fresh cooked meal, and a shower. With some dignity restored, the very next day I entered CityTeam’s Renew recovery program. Through that life-giving program, the pathway back to society seemed a little less daunting. Through all of our transformative programs, we hold our hands open to those who struggle with food insecurity, lack of stable shelter, and substance abuse. When someone shows up at our door, they get more than just a hot meal and a place to sleep. We greet them warmly, call them by their name, and offer them a pathway back to society. It is truly an honor to serve as the executive director of the very organization that saved my life. - Lance Orton, CityTeam Portland Executive Director Ways to help Ways to give  Share your Experience  Volunteer Learn more Host a Drive Learn more Fundraise Learn more Donate Items Learn more Corporate & church partnerships Learn more Amazon Wishlists Learn more What's happening in Portland Support CityTeam Portland's Expansion Support the refurbishing of our new and improved property. Our Vision Leading people We are restoring lives and rebuilding communities through innovative programs which provide food, shelter, clothing, training, and spiritual transformation. The Need More people are now living in extreme poverty and homelessness. So many of our neighbors feel as though hope is lost. Hunger is widespread. 1 in 8 people face hunger nationally, with the need reaching 1 in 4 in many urban centers. Families with children now represent 1/3 of the homeless population and ages 18-25 is the fastest growing segment of the unhoused population. It is well documented that many people experiencing homelessness also suffer from substance abuse. The brutal cycle of addiction can lead to housing insecurity, economic instability, and crippling loneliness. Our struggling neighbors need their immediate needs met, such as food and shelter - but that's just the bare minimum. They need accessible pathways towards lasting change. What your gift goes towards Support your city  Food & Shelter We want to meet immediate needs through hot meals, fresh groceries, clean clothing, shelter beds, warm showers, hygiene essentials, and more. A Path to Self-Sufficiency We give people access to education and job skills training that helps them find a living wage job and stable housing. Our programs across the United States offer help and hope through hot meals, groceries, shelter, transitional housing and restorative programs. Our programs are rooted in relationship building. Economic empowerment, discovery Bible studies, and individualized case management are all ways we guide clients towards physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Each of our cities has customized programs to specifically meet the needs of their community. Our Programs  Our History CityTeam Ministries was started in 1957 by Lester and Pauline Myers as a feeding program for homeless men in downtown San Jose. Four years later, the ministry - then known as the San Jose Rescue Mission - moved to a larger facility where it began providing shelter as well as meals to unhoused people. Passionate about serving others We are all part of this story – volunteers, donors, staff, and the people we serve. Our People CityTeam is led by people who are passionate about serving God and serving others. Each member of our leadership team and Board of Trustees has unique expertise and experience that has equipped them to be effective leaders in our cities. Glen Peterson President In each of the cities that we serve, our goal is to bring innovative solutions to the most pressing set of needs faced by individuals and communities. Because the challenges of poverty, homelessness and isolation have become more widespread and complex, we’ve embarked on a 5 year vision to dramatically expand our program offerings. Through this strategic plan, we are going both wide and deep to meet the needs of the families living in our poorest neighborhoods. Recognizing that the face of homelessness continues to change and grow, we’ve also dramatically expanded our residential program offerings which provide a safe and loving environment for men, women and children to begin a new life. I’m blessed to have had exposure to a wide range of business and ministry related issues prior to joining CityTeam. This includes a 30 year career as a senior executive in the technology industry and a variety of leadership roles at my local church. It’s a privilege to fulfill this special calling and serve alongside a group of passionate and talented staff members, as well as the thousands of volunteers and donors who are part of the CityTeam family. A gift from the Global Data Registry

When the Global Data Registry crawled https://www.cityteam.org/oakland, we found no structured data — the language AI systems use to understand and describe a business online.

Schema is how ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity know what your business does and how to describe you accurately to your customers. Without it, AI systems are guessing.

The most important field in this block is sameAs — a verified edge connecting your website to your permanent record at the Global Data Registry. This is a free, confirmed link to a real verified source. It costs nothing and gives your website a confirmed node in the graph that AI systems traverse when building answers about your business.

Copy the block below and paste it into the <head> of your website. Or drop it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask it to extend it with your full business details — that is the fastest path to a complete schema record.

▶   What is schema?

Schema is a standard vocabulary maintained at schema.org that lets websites describe themselves in a language machines can read. When you add schema to your website, you are telling AI systems, search engines, and knowledge graphs exactly what your business is and how it connects to the rest of the web.
