Dog training and psychology became the perfect, albeit unusual, combination for Juan's professional career, because the behavioral principles he had to learn in order to understand dog behavior, were the same principles that gave rise to the behavioral tradition in clinical psychology, which Juan embraced as his second career path as a psychotherapist. Once he obtained his professional credentials as a psychologist, Juan then attended graduate school at the prestigious Psychology school of Universidad Catolica, to earn a masters degree in Clinical Psychology. Country Dog Ranch's history stems back to 1990 when Dominique started his dog training career in Chile, where he was located at the time. He owned a boarding facility and worked as a dog trainer for several years, conducting one on one and group obedience classes. His work was featured in several television shows and he was considered one of the best dog trainers in the country.   During that time, Dominique met his friend Juan, who was devoted to breeding boxers, rottweilers and Neapolitan mastiffs and competing in dog shows. He then decided to expand his business and added a dog training school to his breeding facility. Dominique became the head trainer of the center. Since that moment, a fruitful working relationship and a friendship began. Then, for a couple of years, Dominique and Juan worked together, training many, many dogs and helping their owners to foster a better relationship with their pets.   Continue reading our story... Eventually, Dominique returned to the US in 2002, where he continued his dog training career, founding My Dog and I, a business dedicated to dog walking and training, specializing in canyon hikes in the mountains of Los Angeles. The training facility is six acres large, and the ranch is entirely fenced in. Country Dog ranch is a 100% cage free facility, dogs have the freedom to roam about outside and inside the house facility. We have a state of the art pool equipped with a beach for easy access by the dogs. Our Mercedes Benz limmo will come and pick your dog up and transport them to our facility. In order to best supervise your pets we have a limited number of dogs that can occupy our facility at one time.  Juan training with Marla Meanwhile, Juan decided to go to the university to become a Psychologist. During his studies he continued working as a dog trainer, this time specializing in solving behavior problems. Dog training and psychology became the perfect, albeit unusual, combination for Juan's professional career, because the behavioral principles he had to learn in order to understand dog behavior, were the same principles that gave rise to the behavioral tradition in clinical psychology, which Juan embraced as his second career path as a psychotherapist. Once he obtained his professional credentials as a psychologist, Juan then attended graduate school at the prestigious Psychology school of Universidad Catolica, to earn a masters degree in Clinical Psychology. While obtaining his degree, Juan also travelled to the US several times in order to receive clinical training in mindfulness based behavior therapies.   Now, Dominique and Juan are working together again in Los Angeles, CA's Country Dog Ranch as a professional team devoted to the well being and emotional balance of the dogs that participate in our obedience training courses, canyon hikes and boarding/doggie day care. They are excited to train dogs on their six acres facility, where dogs of all breeds can roam freely on the grass and in the newly constructed pool.
