The CPRA does not require the district to create a record or prepare a document that does not exist at the time of the request. EXEMPT RECORDS Records exempt from the CPRA are commonly made exempt by state law. Examples include student records, employee personnel and medical files, minutes of closed session board meetings, preliminary drafts and notes, and pending litigation. Should a portion of a disclosable record contain confidential information, the district will redact such information before it is disclosed. Administrative Regulation 1340 provides a more complete list of exempt records. SUBMITTING A REQUEST There are two ways to gain access to a public record – obtaining a copy from the local agency in either electronic or paper format or inspecting the record at the local agency’s offices. Anyone can submit a public records request. Requests may be made in writing or orally, but written requests are strongly encouraged. No specific form must be used. Requests may be emailed or mailed to the following address: Cypress School District Attention: Public Records Request 5816 Corporate Avenue, Suite 100 Cypress, CA 90630 To speak with someone regarding a CPRA request, contact the Superintendent's Office at (714) 220-6911. Requests should include a detailed description of the records, the specific timeframe, and the preferred format. There is no charge for electronic copies. If paper copies are requested, the charge for 8.5 x 11 black and white copies is 15¢ per page. The district may also charge a fee for data compilation, extraction, or programming required to produce requested records. Requestors will be notified in advance of any charges, and payment will be required prior to receipt of the records. For in-person inspection requests, the district will contact the requestor within the 10-day response period to schedule an appointment for inspection of responsive records. This process is necessary to allow staff time to gather and review documents for compliance within the provisions of the CPRA. Establishing a positive learning environment begins with schoolwide expectations for student behavior that are consistently communicated, taught, and reinforced by teachers, staff, and administrators. Discipline The goal of discipline is not to teach kids to avoid punishment. It is to teach kids to do the right thing even when the adults are not around. -Lawrence Goldberg Teaching and reinforcing appropriate behavior is an essential component of student success. As part of this learning process, it is important for students to experience the consequences of poor choices and inappropriate behavior when they occur. While there are some student behaviors that require immediate suspension and consideration for expulsion, California Education Code 48900 (v) indicates that administrators have the discretion to provide alternatives to suspension or expulsion that are age appropriate and designed to address and correct the student’s misbehavior. The ultimate goal of school discipline is to help students learn from their mistakes and take responsibility for their own behavior. Alternatives to Suspension Alternatives to suspension include, but are not limited to: Parent, student, and staff conference Appropriate behavior-specific consequence Individual behavior contract Daily or weekly “check-in/check-out” with a designated staff member Referral to the Student Study Team Implementation of appropriate interventions (behavioral and/or academic) Referral to appropriate social skills or mental health support group (parent permission required) Referral for individual counseling and mental health support (parent permission required) Student Study Team The Student Study Team (SST) proces Superintendent Search - Cypress School District Skip To Main Content Close Menu Search search-form#clearSearch'> Clear Search OUR DISTRICT About Us Superintendent's Message Mission, Vision, & Core Values District Goals & Strategies Organizational Chart Our Schools District Communication Calendar of Events Use of District Facilities Request for Advertising/Promotion Public Records Requests Complaints Superintendent Search BOARD OF TRUSTEES Board Members Board Meetings Board Policies Governance Calendar (opens in new window/tab) Trustee Areas FAMILIES Academic Calendar - Traditional Academic Calendar - Year-Round Student Records Attendance School Meals District Preschool Program Expanded Learning Opportunities Program On-Campus Private Preschool & Childcare Annual Notice to Parents/Guardians School Accountability Report Cards Parent Involvement PTA Student Accident Insurance Fentanyl & Synthetic Drugs STUDENT SUPPORTS PBIS English Learners Special Education Neurodiversity Health Services Mental Health Support Student Homelessness Suicide Prevention Student Behavior & Discipline Bullying & Cyberbullying Hate-Motivated Behavior Student Nondiscrimination & Harassment Title IX Statewide Support Organizations ACADEMICS Curriculum & Instruction Arts & Music STEM Report Cards State & Local Assessments ENROLLMENT DEPARTMENTS Business Services Budget Developer Fees Child Nutrition Services Menus School Meal Accounts Student Wellness Special Dietary Needs Federal Earned Income Tax Credit Educational Services School Accountability Report Cards Local Control & Accountability Plan Curriculum & Instruction State & Local Assessments English Learners PBIS Social-Emotional Learning Special Education Learning Center Model Greater Anaheim Special Education Local Plan Area (GASELPA) Student Services Attendance Health Services Student Records Student Behavior & Discipline Bullying & Cyberbullying Hate-Motivated Behavior Mental Health Support Suicide Prevention Student Homelessness Fentanyl & Synthetic Drugs Statewide Support Organizations Human Resources Employment Employee Bargaining Units New Teacher Induction Job Descriptions & Salary Schedules Nondiscrimination in Employment Maintenance/Operations, Transportation, & Technology Maintenance/Operations School Safety Integrated Pest Management Plan Use of District Facilities Facilities Master Plan Transportation Technology Student Technology Handbook Clever Superintendent Superintendent's Message Mission, Vision, & Core Values District Goals & Strategies CURRENT BOARD AGENDA (opens in new window/tab) LCAP SCHOOL LOCATOR (opens in new window/tab) CONTACT US Facebook (opens in new window/tab) YouTube District Schools A.E. SEL provides students with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to understand and manage their emotions, build healthy relationships, set and achieve goals, and make responsible decisions. These competencies support not only academic success but also students’ overall well-being and long-term development. In the Cypress School District, SEL is integrated into daily instruction and schoolwide practices to create a positive, inclusive learning environment. We use the Second Step curriculum as our primary resource to teach SEL across all grade levels. This evidence-based program helps students develop five core SEL competencies identified by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL): Self-awareness Self-management Social awareness Relationship skills Responsible decision-making Through structured lessons, interactive activities, and class discussions, students learn strategies to manage emotions, resolve conflicts, show empathy, and engage respectfully with others. SEL also plays an important role in shaping a positive school culture—one where students feel safe, connected, and supported. By fostering mutual respect and shared responsibility, SEL helps create the conditions for meaningful learning and strong student-teacher relationships. By prioritizing SEL, we aim to nurture confident, compassionate learners who are prepared to thrive both in and out of the classroom. Schema is how ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity know what your business does and how to describe you accurately to your customers. Without it, AI systems are guessing.

The most important field in this block is sameAs — a verified edge connecting your website to your permanent record at the Global Data Registry. This is a free, confirmed link to a real verified source. It costs nothing and gives your website a confirmed node in the graph that AI systems traverse when building answers about your business.

Copy the block below and paste it into the
of your website. Or drop it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask it to extend it with your full business details — that is the fastest path to a complete schema record.

▶ What is schema?

Schema is a standard vocabulary maintained at schema.org that lets websites describe themselves in a language machines can read. When you add schema to your website, you are telling AI systems, search engines, and knowledge graphs exactly what your business is and how it connects to the rest of the web.
