Although members are elected at-large, geographic representation within the county-wide service area is welcomed.  During general elections, candidacy may be declared with the Del Norte County Registrar of Voters. Check out how you can help below How To Donate Books We appreciate your donation of new and used books, CDs, videos, DVDs, audio books, paperbacks, and magazines.  The following guidelines apply to donated materials: Donations become the property of the library. Donations will be evaluated for addition to the collection, subject to the same criteria as all other materials. (Content and format, condition, number of copies already in the collection, the need to provide a balanced collection in which a variety of subjects and viewpoints are represented, cost of processing, patron interest; these and other considerations may determine whether or not a book is added to the collection). Donations which are not added to the collection will be given to the Friends of the Library; they will be offered for sale in their book sales.  Proceeds from these book sales come back to the library and are used to purchase new materials. Donations which are not appropriate for the collection and not appropriate for the books sales will be discarded. The following types of materials will not be accepted as donations: Textbooks Reader's Digest Condensed books Encyclopedias Computer software manuals older than 3 years Magazines older than 2 years Outdated atlases, travel books, price lists for collectors, etc. Books/literature smelling of cigarette smoke Materials which are missing pages or parts, mildewed, wet, stained, dirty, spider webbed or in poor condition Receipts are available and will note the number of items donated. A determination of the fair market value of the donated materials will be the responsibility of the donor. How to deliver donated materials Donations of 1 or 2 bags (or boxes) of materials are received by library staff at the circulation desk during library open hours. For donations larger than 2 bags or 2 boxes, please contact the library prior to delivery at 707-464-9793. Please do not leave donated materials on the library front or back porches and do not put donated materials in the outside book drop. Please fill out the bid below and submit to Terrin Musbach at  [email protected] Contract Bid Youth Tutors for Del norte reads Del Norte Reads is seeking applicants aged 12-24 to fill 10-30 openings for the Youth Tutor position. Youth Tutors hired for the position will work with an assigned mentor and Del Norte Reads staff to fulfill program needs through tutoring and library support. This is a grant funded position that will remain open as long as grant funding allows with guaranteed funding until December of 2026. Workload will be 10-40 hours a month based on: The legal criteria for the age of the youth  Availability   Program needs and opportunities Compensation: $16.90 per hour with opportunities for a 50 cent raise after each year of employment.  Volunteer only A mix of hourly wage and volunteer   General Duties: Attend regular training sessions with DN Reads Staff and Assigned Mentor Attend regularly scheduled tutoring or programming sessions Share ideas for program development and collaborate to develop the Peer-Tutoring Program  Serve as a public representative of the DN Reads program by behaving as a healthy role model Tutor Duties:  1:1 Homework help  1:1 Tutoring in line with SMART goals Library Support Duties: Assist with creating library programming Assist with current library programming Qualifications: Working in a team and independently Eagerness to continue learning and developing skills Ability to articulate ideas and seek deeper understanding of others’ ideas through listening, reading, speaking and writing Interpersonal skills Time management Attention to detail and adherence to policies Computer literacy The full job description is available in the button below Full job Ddescription Interested in applying?
