[email protected] Location: Ponderosa High School 3661 Ponderosa Road Shingle Springs, CA 95682 Time: 8:30 - 9:58 am Monday 8:30 - 10:02 am Tuesday-Friday Length of Course: Full school year (August - May) Students must start the course at the beginning of the fall semester. Credits: 10 credits per semester with a passing grade. Course description The ROP Diesel Engine course is designed to mix classroom instruction with hands-on training in the operation and repair of modern diesel engines. Students will learn how to interpret technical manuals and electronic diagnostic reports. Enrollment Eligibility High school juniors and seniors who are age 16 or older are eligible to enroll in this course. Course Prerequisites High school juniors and seniors must request this course through their Counseling Office during their school's course selection period (January - February). Students must provide their own transportation to class. Your child has a right to go to school, no matter where you live or how long you have lived there. You are not required to provide a permanent address in order to enroll your child in school. Schools cannot require proof of residency that might prevent or delay school enrollment. Education is a Doorway to a Better Future for Your Child! Lack of school records cannot prevent a homeless student from enrolling in the new school. Ask the school officials for help in getting your child's records from the last school your child attended. If you are homeless, your child has the right to stay in the school he/she last attended or move to the school in the district/attendance zone where you are currently living. [email protected] Location: Pacific Crest Academy 6540 Koki Lane El Dorado, CA 95623 ROP-E Directions Map (530) 344-8939 Time: (Seniors only) 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday Length of Course: Students must complete 1000 clock hours which was usually completed in three semesters. New students are accepted for classes beginning in July of each school year. This course runs on a different schedule than the high schools in our district. Students will attend class until the middle of June (high schools are dismissed at the end of May) and resume class in mid-July (high schools resume in August). All other holidays and breaks observed by the El Dorado Union High School District are followed in this program. There is a four week summer break for the Cosmetology program. Credits: 15 credits per semester with a passing grade. COURSE DESCRIPTION Training in theoretical, practical and all phases of hair, skin and nail care, with particular emphasis on chemistry, product knowledge and life science. Students must complete 1000 clock hours of applied effort set forth by the State Board of Cosmetology, in addition to complying with the educational standards of the Central Sierra ROP. Students will be taught the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to pass the California Cosmetology Examinations. In addition, students will become familiar with business practices and procedures used in most salons. In the exciting career of Cosmetology, you can become a hairstylist, platform artist, salon owner, or one of many opportunities open to licensed Cosmetologists. Certifications Earned Board of Barbering and Cosmetology Cosmetologist Enrollment Eligibility High school students must be 16 or older to enroll in this course at no charge. Once students graduate from high school, students will be required to pay tuition, lab fee and kit fee (one time charge) per semester to complete the course. Fall Semester: Seniors only will be eligible to begin the course at the beginning of the school year. Spring Semester: Seniors and Juniors may be eligible to begin the course at the beginning of the second semester. First semester will be spent in the classroom. Second semester will be spent at a community classroom site and student will attend class one day a week. Credits: 10 credits per semester with a passing grade. Course description The ROP Health Careers course offers rigorous and relevant instruction in a wide variety of patient health care. Students explore diverse fields of medical and healthcare careers as related to their interest, aptitudes and abilities. After completion of competencies and hospital orientation, the students will complete the school year by training in a medical facility. Externship opportunities offer cross-training in a wide variety of areas of the hospital, medical facilities, and long-term health care facilities. certifications Earned American Red Cross CPR Certificate. ENROLLMENT ELIGIBILITY High school juniors and seniors who are age 16 or older are eligible to enroll in this course. COURSE PREREQUISITES High school juniors and seniors must request this course through their Counseling Office during their school's course selection period (January- February).
