Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and a pair of rubber-soled sneakers. Your first session will be comprised of a comprehensive evaluation. Should I bring any X-rays or MRI reports with me? Yes, please do. Although we can request these from your doctor or lab facility, it is better if you provide them for us during your first visit so that we can perform a more complete and accurate evaluation. You will be asked to fill out some basic paperwork, so don’t forget to bring your prescription for physical therapy. What types of treatments do you perform? We perform various types of treatments, and will customize a program combining the best techniques specific for your particular injury. The modalities and techniques we use include functional and therapeutic exercises, stretching, joint mobilization, Blood Flow Restriction, myofascial release, soft tissue massage, electrical stimulation, Theraputic Ultrasound, and thermal modalities. The treatment program will be performed in a private treatment room as well as a gym setting using a variety of athletic and rehabilitation equipment. What type of equipment do you have on the premises? Because we focus on rehabilitation as well as performance enhancement, we have a full gym on the premises, including a variety of equipment intended solely for rehabilitation. How long does each session last? Generally, your initial visit will last just over 1 hour since the therapist will need to evaluate your condition, provide treatment, and give home instructions. Follow up visits will last 45 minutes depending on your injury and level of activity. How often are my appointments? Most prescriptions and treatment schedules are for 1-3 visits per week, but this will vary based on your condition and physical ability. Treatment plans usually are 6-12 weeks with periodic re-evaluations and regular follow-up visits with your doctor. Important Tips: Arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to check in. He has been practicing as an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist since 2001. He initially worked at Emeryville Sports Physical Therapy from 2003 until 2005 and then returned to ESPT in 2019. His other work experience includes working at other highly regarded outpatient PT private practices in San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley as well as at Kaiser Permanente.  Oliver enjoys learning from the working relationships he develops with his patients and is striving to be a better physical therapist every day.  He has taken extensive continuing education coursework which have included a year-long training course in Australian manual therapy under the guidance of Joe Farrell as well as many courses from the Institute of Physical Art.
