When I walk out of my office I am inspired; a steady, joyful buzz fills the air as students and teachers work alongside one another, collaborating while deep in dialogue. There is a true sense of ‘we’re in this together' and learning can be fun and exciting. This relationship between our students and teachers is the heart of the transformational experience at Headlands Preparatory School. While our student body is composed of students with diverse needs and goals, more often than not, parents seek out Headlands Prep because their childrens’ needs are in some way not being addressed in the traditional school setting. Rather than being forced to fit into a mold, our students are celebrated as individuals within a collective community. Our one-to-one model and flexible scheduling allow students to learn at their own pace and design a schedule that supports their academic needs. While the individual is the focal point of our learning process, we are very intentional about creating a sense of community among our students and faculty. Students form friendships based on common interests discovered through our small group electives, lunch time social clubs, community building, and service activities. As an independent, private educational institution , we have an awesome responsibility to instruct, inspire, and empower our students. Part of our mission, and certainly our greatest joy, is to offer our students a transformative educational experience that helps build academic self-esteem, develop self-awareness, and nurture responsible contributors to the global community. At Headlands Prep we partner together – as parents, teachers, and administrators – to create a supportive, positive, and respectful environment for each other, to set the stage for our students to flourish in a nurturing and uplifting learning community. Throughout our website, you will find information about the admissions process, our academic program, student life and much more. My hope is that it will give you a glimpse into the Headlands Prep experience and a better appreciation for the magic that happens here each and every day. I personally welcome you to reach out to our admin team to set up a time to learn more about how our vibrant school allows us to personalize learning and create an environment for our students to excel in all aspects of their lives. As one of our four pillars, civic engagement is central to our mission of student empowerment and personal growth. Headlands Prep School students are required to complete a minimum of 20 community service hours per year, though many students choose to exceed the base requirement. With our focus on blending personal and academic growth, students reflect on their service through an annual project requirement. Community service acts as an opportunity for students to come together, collaborate, and share in meaningful experiences. We offer opportunities for students to plan group service trips, travel internationally for service, and create individualized service projects directed at a particular community need. Students engage within our small school community as well as the larger communities around us through service, reflection, and engagement. “The administration is incredibly student-focused and understands the different learning styles that make a learning community. She's spent several years teaching CS to a wide range of students, from elementary schools to college. Robin loves working with children, and spent a few years working in childcare at the YMCA and on-site at several schools across Marin. She loves underground music, especially hip hop, and has an extensive collection of video games.   Robin Adams — Math, Science Aafia spent her childhood in small-town Minnesota and her teen years in Austin, where she went on to earn a B.S.A. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Over the course of several software engineering internships and then a full-time job that brought her to San Francisco, she realized that her true passion was working with people. Her subsequent work as a private test prep tutor helped her discover her love for teaching and showed her the immense potential of one-on-one instruction, both of which drew her to Headlands. In her free time, Aafia loves reading (mostly sci-fi), solving crosswords, gaming, playing the piano, attending board game nights, exploring the food scene in SF, and most of all spending time with her partner and their two cats.   Aafia Ahmad — Math, English Tim has been teaching at Headlands since 2019, and currently serves as the Math Department Head, bringing over a decade of educational expertise. Dedicated to the one-to-one learning approach, he tailors lessons to students' unique needs, fostering a love for learning in the various subjects he teaches, including Science, Social Science, and History. A devoted lifelong learner, he finds inspiration in reading and writing and open-source software. In his downtime, Tim enjoys exploring diverse interests such as hiking, weightlifting, computing projects, and playing with/getting yelled at by his cat, Calvin. Tim Bearden — Math Department Chair, Math, Science, History, Social Sciences Will was born and raised in Northwest Ohio, but before moving to the Bay Area he spent eight years living in and around New York City. During his time in New York, he received his B.A. in Creative Writing and Socio-Cultural Anthropology from Columbia University, as well as his M.F.A. in Speculative Fiction from Sarah Lawrence College. He has taught, mentored, and advised students of all ages, from kindergarten to college. His writing centers on disability and the climate crisis across a number of genres (fantasy, science fiction, horror, magical realism) and forms (novels, short stories, poems, scripts). In a past life, he was a Podcast Script Writer, including a stint co-writing Season 3 of the climate science/justice podcast "A Matter of Degrees," and he is currently a Prose Reader and Editor for the digital literary magazine "Variant Literature." When he isn't writing or teaching, Will enjoys reading, hiking, playing tabletop roleplaying games or board games, and spending time with his cats. Policy implementation will be taught concurrently with broad exposure to the following core political subjects: the Constitution, patterns of political behavior, political institutions, public policy, political parties, public opinion, elections, and state and local government. To bring the course full circle, students will evaluate to what extent the United States political system is fit for contemporary society and question what aspects of the Constitution and its political system may be outdated. AP United States History - 2 Semesters (10 Credits) Weighted Students will examine the development of the United States from pre-Columbian America to the present through readings, discussion, and debates. Students will learn to assess historical materials (both written and art historical) through weighing the evidence and various interpretations to establish their validity. Students will also participate in debates and complete AP-based essays that will ask them to think critically about a historical question and consider various angles in interpreting the problem. One of the main goals of this course is to orient students to history as it relates to themselves and the world they live in. They will be taught to apply their knowledge to political, social, and cultural issues, and will learn about current events that have implications in society. (Prerequisite: B or better in World History) AP World History - 2 Semesters (10 Credits) Weighted The AP World History course challenges students to examine the development of world history in a comparative format that will focus on continuity and change during five major periods of world history from the beginnings of human civilization c. 8000 BCE to the present: Unit 1: Foundations, c. 8000 BCE to 600 CE Unit 2: 600 CE to 1450 Unit 3: 1450 to 1750 Unit 4: 1750 to 1914 Unit 5: 1914 to the present Focusing on these themes will serve both to unify the course and to permit a greater degree of comparison between societies flourishing during their historical context and between societies across time. Additionally, this thematic approach will help students develop the skills necessary to explore other cultures and historical processes on their own. European History - 2 Semesters (10 Credits) This course will promote understanding of European political, social, cultural, economic, and environmental contexts. It will provide the opportunity for students to study historical development of local and regional societies, and to cross-disciplinary and geographical boundaries to appreciate an increasingly interdependent world as seen in the European Union. This pedagogical approach will emphasize the interconnectedness and uniqueness of all peoples. It will elucidate the contributions of culturally diverse groups. The course also seeks to develop each student’s writing and reading skills. In order to pass this course, students must successfully complete several expository assignments that demonstrate a superior understanding of historical events. Students will complete several written and oral assignments, and examination, to show proficiency in historical understanding in each course chapter. This course arms students with an understanding of the principal themes in European history, and an ability to analyze historical evidence in the context of differing historical interpretations. The course is designed to facilitate the development of students’ critical thinking, close-reading, and analytical writing skills. At Headlands Prep, we use an online progress reporting system for tracking all student progress, courses, sessions, homework, and grades. After each class session, teachers post a Progress Report detailing the session. These reports include: What material was covered in the class Assigned homework Course pacing and estimated completion Student grades Other key notes on the session or course This system of tracking student progress allows us to work together with families – progress is tracked, issues can be resolved quickly, and students learn to use tools for organizing their academics. Headlands Preparatory School uses a Mastery Learning educational philosophy and method that supports all students to become competent and confident learners. The Mastery Learning approach at HPS guides all aspects of the educational experience. From instruction to homework to assessment, all student learning is designed to be engaging, meaningful, intentional, and builds a strong foundation for long-term learning. Instruction Aquire Students acquire content and skills through direct instruction and a personalized teaching approach. Engaging Homework Practice Students build a foundation for continued learning through meaningful practice and homework. Meaningful Assessment Apply Students reflect on what they have learned and apply their learning to new situations through intentional assessment. Intentional At Headlands Prep School we ensure student mastery by requiring students to achieve at least 80% on all assessments. In order to ensure students have a strong foundation on which to build skills and later content, students must demonstrate mastery by earning a minimum of 80% on any assessment. If students have not demonstrated mastery, we review the material and reassess until mastery is achieved. “Along with [our daughter’s] academic interest, she has ADD and this has proven no hurdle at Headlands. The teachers are equipped with the right tools to keep students engaged, let up when necessary, and refocus when required.” Headlands Prep Parent Contact Information 1050 Bridgeway Sausalito, CA 94965 415.944.2254 Marin County San Francisco Bay Area Looking for East Bay options? Headlands Preparatory School is committed in its pursuit of social justice, equity, and inclusion for all. At Headlands Prep, we believe that community is our strongest asset and we work to empower each other in becoming engaged contributors to our society. As a high school and middle school, we are dedicated to strengthening our school community through opportunities for engagement and self-reflection. We believe that diversity and inclusion are essential in further developing our community’s unique identity. At Headlands Prep, we believe that a community-driven approach is necessary in order to challenge systems of oppression and inequity that have limited student access to education. We seek to foster a community that is dedicated to the rebuilding of schools as we know them, and to create schooling that is founded upon equity, inclusion, and intersectional justice. As an independent secondary school , we are committed to the following: Fostering a school culture where everyone is welcomed and valued Creating a school culture that is inclusive of all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, identity, nationality, gender and gender expression, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, ability, age, or socioeconomic and demographic backgrounds Engaging students in practices of self-reflection and identity work to examine themselves as well as their actions, privilege, values, and impact Empowering students to exhibit active civic engagement on individual, campus, community, and global levels Our school commits to these values with conviction and aims to empower our students, faculty, administrators, and community members to create equitable opportunities for all. This is more than a promise–it is a plan in action. We believe that Headlands Preparatory School can serve as a torchbearer for the systemic reimagination and rebuilding of schools as community-driven and supportive institutions for all students. “The barriers of racism, discrimination, concentrated poverty, and access to college-- persistent, structural barriers--cannot be eradicated by tweaking the system or making adjustments. We must struggle together not only to reimagine schools but to build new schools that we are taught to believe are impossible: schools based on intersectional justice, antiracism, love, healing, and joy.” Bettina Love Contact Information 1050 Bridgeway Sausalito, CA 94965 415.944.2254 Marin County San Francisco Bay Area Looking for East Bay options? A gift from the Global Data Registry

When the Global Data Registry crawled https://headlandsprep.com/?utm_source=GMB&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=sausalito, we found no structured data — the language AI systems use to understand and describe a business online.

Schema is how ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity know what your business does and how to describe you accurately to your customers. Without it, AI systems are guessing.

The most important field in this block is sameAs — a verified edge connecting your website to your permanent record at the Global Data Registry. This is a free, confirmed link to a real verified source. It costs nothing and gives your website a confirmed node in the graph that AI systems traverse when building answers about your business.

Copy the block below and paste it into the <head> of your website. Or drop it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask it to extend it with your full business details — that is the fastest path to a complete schema record.

▶   What is schema?

Schema is a standard vocabulary maintained at schema.org that lets websites describe themselves in a language machines can read. When you add schema to your website, you are telling AI systems, search engines, and knowledge graphs exactly what your business is and how it connects to the rest of the web.
