Los Medanos College Foundation Home Foundation Ways to Give Ways to Give Every donation makes a difference. The Los Medanos College Foundation invites you to donate in a way that means something to you. Together, donors and the LMC Foundation build futures and changes students' lives by raising and allocating critical financial support for educational and career technical training programs, teaching facilities, and student scholarships. Make a Donation There are many ways to donate to the LMC Foundation: Donate where it's needed most: Donate to the "greatest need" fund to allow your donation to have the greatest impact. One Time : A one time donation that makes a difference. Recurring : A recurring monthly donation to provide ongoing support. Create a Scholarship: Whether a Recurring or Endowed Scholarship, your generosity helps pay for a student’s tuition so they can complete their education at LMC. Please contact us if you’d like more information or choose a scholarship to support from our list . Stocks or Bonds : Make a gift to LMCF through securities such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Please contact us for more information. Workplace Giving : Your employer may offer you a way to support LMCF through payroll deduction contributions and matching gifts. This is also great way to double the impact of your gift. Your contribution, no matter the size, can help fund scholarships, student technology and learning materials. Contribute securely online All contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law. LMC Foundation's Tax ID Number is 94-3295149. For more information, please contact Tara Sanders, LMC Foundation Director, at
[email protected] or 925-473-7315 . A one-time 4% sustainability fee will be assessed on all restricted donations over $100 and 2% annually on funds to help provide ongoing support so that the LMC Foundation can support more students. Open the links below to learn more: Cash Donation A gift of cash can be in the form of personal check, credit card, cash, or cashier’s check. For your convenience, donations may be sent through PayPal via the “Donate” button on this page. You may also send your donation to the Los Medanos College Foundation, 2700 E. Leland Road, Pittsburg, CA 94565. In addition, many employers will match your charitable gift to your nonprofit of choice through their charitable gift program. Remember to ask your employer if there is a “matching charitable gift” program. Employee Contributions (Los Medanos College employees only) The LMC Foundation Payroll Deduction Form can be found on InSite in the HR-Payroll tile and is for faculty and staff – full time and part time – who would like to set up automatic, payroll, tax deductible donations to support the LMC Foundation. You can designate where your funds will be used such as an LMC Foundation Scholarship, Program Account or Wherever the Need is Greatest and the dollar amount ($1.00 minimum) to be deducted from each paycheck. You can set up contributions of any amount to a single or multiple scholarship or program accounts. Life Insurance Donors can name the Los Medanos College Foundation as beneficiary of a life insurance policy or donate a policy currently owned, to the foundation. After the donor donates the policy to the foundation, the donor’s future payments on the policy will be tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for further information. Appreciated Stocks Significant tax savings may be available to you by giving appreciated stock. You avoid capital gains tax on the increase in value of the stock, and you can receive a charitable tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time the donation is made. Please consult your tax advisor for further information. Wills & Bequests Remembering Los Medanos College in your will removes assets from the donor’s estate and reduces its exposure to federal taxes. Bequests can include: cash, securities or other personal property; a percentage of your estate; or the residue of your estate such as property remaining after other bequests have been fulfilled. A simple codicil is all that is needed. Please consult your tax advisor/estate planner for further information. Suggested language to update your will: “I hereby give to Los Medanos College Foundation, a California non-profit corporation, with its principal place of business in Pittsburg, California, the sum of $ ; or the following described property…; or % of the remainder of my estate.” Charitable Remainder Trusts Some donors elect to establish a trust to provide for the future of a loved one, in addition to Los Medanos College. With this arrangement, you can provide for one or more individuals to receive an asset during their lifetime, then, at their death, the principal goes to the LMC Foundation. Assets of cash, securities or real estate are transferred to a trust and removed from one’s taxable estate. Please consult your estate planner for further information. Bank Account in Trust A bank account may also be opened in trust for the Los Medanos College Foundation. You may add or subtract from the account at any time and all interest earned is yours. In the event of death, the account would be automatically given to the LMC Foundation. Please consult your estate planner for further information. Real Estate The Los Medanos College Foundation will consider donations of real estate such as your personal residence, farm, vacation home, commercial property, or undeveloped land. A charitable tax deduction may be realized, for example, by deeding your real estate to the LMC Foundation, while retaining the right to live in the home or retain its use during your lifetime. Please contact the foundation office for further information at 925-473-7315. Gifts-in-Kind Donations of materials or other usable or marketable, tangible items, may be accepted upon recommendation of specific departments, College President, and the Los Medanos College Foundation Board of Directors. Gifts, such as artwork, valued at $500 or more must include a valid appraisal. Please contact the Foundation Office for further information at 925-473-7315. Other Options If you have any questions about any of the above described plans or you have a special situation you wish to discuss, please contact the Foundation Office at 925-473-7315. We welcome the opportunity to discuss charitable donations with you and/or your advisors. --> ACCREDITATION DONATE TO LMC Maps & Directions Pittsburg Campus: 2700 East Leland Rd., Pittsburg CA 94565 Campus: ( maps ) & ( tours ) (925) 439-2181 phone Brentwood Center: 1351 Pioneer Square, Brentwood, CA 94513 ( maps) (925) 513-1625 phone 4CD Confidential Hotline Privacy Informat --> --> --> Help with Difficulties You May Encounter at Los Medanos College Skip to content Canvas login is currently down --> Evening classes at Brentwood are canceled, Aug 25, 2025 --> Evening classes at Brentwood are canceled, Aug 25, 2025 (low level alert box used for the coronavirus updates) (note extra button) Class Information (end extra button) Coronavirus Updates power outtage warning Pittsburg Campus Power Outage : Classes have been cancelled for Friday, October 8. Title IX is a federal law (Title IX of the Educational Amendments Act of 1972, Title 20, U.S. Code, Chapter 38, Sections 1681 – 1686) prohibiting discrimination in educational institutions receiving federal financial assistance, in the college’s programs or activities, employment, academic, educational, extracurricular and athletic activities (both on and off campus) on the basis of sex. LMC is committed to ending relationship or interpersonal violence and sexual misconduct on our campus and easing the burden placed on those who report these types of behaviors. Your Safety is Our Concern It's essential that we all work together to foster a respectful, harassment-free campus culture. This training is designed to equip you with essential skills to identify and prevent sexual violence, harassment, and discrimination. California Assembly Bill 2683 Sexual Violence and Harassment Training and Resources was signed into law by the Governor on September 29, 2022 to require students to complete this annual training effective Academic Year 2024-25. 4CD Title IX Training Title IX Information Title IX The law states that “no person in the United States shall on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.” The amendment in 1987 expanded the definition of program or activity to include all the operations of an educational institution, governmental entity or private employer that receives federal funds. Although Title IX is primarily known for advancing equity in women’s sports, it provides federal civil rights that forbid sex discrimination in all college student services and academic programs, including but not limited to: admissions, financial aid, counseling and career guidance, athletics, other support services, courses, grading, discipline, employment and training for employment. Title IX protections apply to all members of the campus community, individuals using the college facilities and individuals doing business with the college. Title IX protects all people regardless of their gender or gender identity from sex discrimination, including sexual harassment and sexual violence, such as rape, sexual assault, sexual battery and sexual coercion. Title IX requires institutions to take necessary steps to prevent sexual assault on their campuses and to respond promptly and effectively when an assault is reported. Clery Act, VAWA and SaVE Act What is the Clery Act? The Federal Jeanne Clery Act (Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act) was named for a former college student, Jeanne Clery, that was found raped and murdered in her college dorm in 1986. Her death led to national awareness of campus crime. The Clery Act requires colleges and universities to report annual crime statistics, including sexual assault and rape which occur on or near college campuses and to develop and disseminate prevention policies. What is VAWA and the Campus SaVE Act? Another federal law (Title IV, section 40001-40703 of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, H.R. 3355) is VAWA, the Violence Against Women Act of 1994. The imposes automatic and mandatory restitution on those convicted of violent crimes against women and allows civil redress in cases prosecutors choose to leave unprosecuted. The Act established the Office on Violence Against Women within the Department of Justice. In March, 2013, President Obama signed a bill that strengthened and reauthorized VAWA, the Violence Against Women Act. This included the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE), which amends the Jeanne Clery Act and clarifies that sexual violence includes domestic violence and stalking, which must be included in campus Clery reports and requires that institutional policies address and prevent sexual violence through training, education and certain discipline procedures Sexual Misconduct Definitions Sexual Misconduct Definitions Any sexual assault or physical abuse, including but not limited to rape, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault or stalking, as defined by California law, whether committed by an employee, student or member of the public, occurring on District property or on an off-campus site or facility maintained or utilized by the District, is a violation of the District policies and regulations, and is subject to all applicable punishment, including criminal procedures and employee or student discipline procedures. The District will investigate all complaints alleging sexual assault under the procedures for sexual harassment investigations described regardless of whether a complaint is filed with local law enforcement. Human Resources Procedure 1080.12 Sexual assault may be committed by friends, acquaintances, lovers, partners, family and strangers and affects people of all ages, genders, sexualities, races and abilities. Sexual violence is often used as a way to hurt, humiliate or gain control over someone else. The fact that someone has been intimate with a partner in the past does not mean they have consented to any or all future sexual activity with that partner. Sexual Harassment Sexual harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other unwelcome visual, verbal, nonverbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature. Sexual harassment is conduct that explicitly or implicitly affects a person’s employment or education or interferes with a person’s work or educational performance, creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive work or educational environment. This definition includes numerous forms of offensive behavior and may occur in hierarchical relationships, between peers, or is gender-based harassment of a person of the same or different sex as the accused individual. Examples of this type of conduct may include but is not limited to the following: Unwanted sexual advances Offering employment or educational benefits in exchange for sexual favors Making or threatening reprisal after a negative response to sexual advances Visual conduct (i.e. leering, making sexual gestures, displaying sexually suggestive objects or pictures, cartoons, or posters) Verbal sexual advances or propositions Verbal abuse of a sexual nature, graphic verbal commentaries about an individual’s body, sexually degrading words used to describe an individual, suggestive or obscene letters, notes or invitations Physical conduct (i.e. touching, assault, impeding or blocking movements) Consent Consent is an affirmative, conscious, and voluntary agreem --> --> --> LMC News Releases Skip to content Canvas login is currently down --> Evening classes at Brentwood are canceled, Aug 25, 2025 --> Evening classes at Brentwood are canceled, Aug 25, 2025 (low level alert box used for the coronavirus updates) (note extra button) Class Information (end extra button) Coronavirus Updates power outtage warning Pittsburg Campus Power Outage : Classes have been cancelled for Friday, October 8.
