In the first reading, Peter tells the community that their Savior was indeed the one whom they crucified. They are cut to the heart, they repent and are baptized—adding about three thousand persons to the community. In the second reading, Peter calls the community to patient suffering when they know what they are doing is right. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks about the shepherd and the sheep who know the sound of his voice. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Last Saturday, a group of young men, ranging in age from 12 to 22, visited Saints Peter and Paul Church. They are from St. Joseph Parish in Modesto, California. During their trip, they also visited the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi, our own parish, and the Dominican Provincial House in Oakland. These young men are currently discerning their vocations and responding to God’s call. I was asked to share with them about Salesian vocations, and I encouraged them to continue praying and listening for God’s voice. Today we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday. In the Gospel, we hear that Jesus Christ is our Good Shepherd. He calls each of us personally, and we must learn to hear His voice and respond. How do we hear God’s voice? We hear it through prayer and by listening to His word in the Scriptures. We also hear God speak to us when we gather to celebrate the Eucharist. Let us pray for young people to listen to God’s calling to dedicate their lives as priests or to the consecrated life in service of others. I asked the visiting young men, "What is a vocation?" One young man answered, “It is a call to dedicate one's life to serving others.” Our Church needs young men and women to serve. As parents and educators, we should encourage young people to consider a vocation to the priesthood or religious life. Just like the first disciples, we follow Jesus because He is the Good Shepherd. They trusted Him in their ministries and through times of struggle, sadness, doubt, or persecution. They knew that Jesus could bring them comfort and lead them to green pastures in His presence. We pray and hope that the followers of Christ will be courageous and unafraid to witness to the Good News. As we are called to follow Christ, the Good Shepherd, let us pray for the grace to imitate sheep in their recognition of the Shepherd’s voice and in their absolute trust in His love and concern for us. We also remember to pray for all the followers of Jesus, and for those not yet part of it, that all might faithfully follow Him and inspire others to join our Church that leads by the Good Shepherd. Remember: all of us should pray and help to promote vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life! Fr. In the first reading, Philip proclaims the Gospel in Samaria and many people are cured. Peter and John follow and lay hands on the newly baptized there, and they received the Holy Spirit. In the second reading, Peter encourages the community to always be ready to give reason for their hope, and be willing to suffer for doing good. In the Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples that those who love him will follow his commandments. From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, When an elderly person knows that his or her death is near, he or she often calls the children together to offer a final piece of advice: "When I am no longer with you, you must care for and love one another." Similarly, Jesus knew he was soon to ascend into heaven, so he advises his disciples to love one another, to keep his commandments. Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit to guide them with love and peace. As the Easter season comes closer to the end, today’s Gospel of St. John tells us how Jesus reminds his disciples to keep his word by loving one another. Jesus gives them his commandments and promises that he will return. He assures them that God the Father will send the Holy Spirit to guide and help them and us to continue sharing his love and proclaiming his teachings. Jesus commands us to love God and our neighbors. While we may think this is a difficult task, it is possible. Jesus loved us by sacrificing His life for us, and so he urges us to love and even sacrifice our lives for one another. For example, Saint Maximilian Kolbe sacrificed his life for a fellow prisoner. In July 1941, prison guards discovered that a prisoner had escaped. To punish the group, they decided to kill ten other prisoners. Hundreds of prisoners lined up in fear, trembling and silent. When one man cried out, “My wife and children!” a skinny man stepped forward from the crowd and requested to die in his place. Our broken world needs more heroes willing to sacrifice themselves to bring about peace. Every time we gather to celebrate the Eucharist, we are reminded of the peace Jesus gave his disciples the same peace we share with one another. During the Communion Rite, the priest says, “ Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever .” The priest continues, “The peace of the Lord be with you always.” We respond, “And with your spirit,” Then we exchange the sign of peace to one another by bowing, hugging, or shaking hands. True peace must start within our hearts. Jesus warns us not to let our hearts be troubled. If we do not have peace within ourselves, how can we share it with others? May the love and peace of the Risen Christ remain with us and the world always, so that we may live in harmony and witness to our Christian faith. Let us remember to pray for all of our grandmothers, mothers and spiritual mothers as we celebrate Mother’s Day today. Happy Mother’s Day! Fr. In the first reading, the Twelve choose seven reputable men to be their assistants and serve at table . In his Letter, Peter writes that all who have faith are to be living stones, imitating Christ. In John’s Gospel, Jesus declares himself the way and the truth and the life , calling those who believe in him to do the works he does. From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, This Sunday we joyfully celebrate with 11 students from our CCD program and Saints Peter and Paul school as they receive First Holy Communion. When St. Thérèse of Lisieux received her First Holy Communion, she described the experience as a "kiss of love" from Jesus, feeling such profound joy that she wept. She recalled saying in her heart: "I love You, and I give myself to You forever!" Jesus wants to be with us forever; it is for this reason that He established the Holy Eucharist. Every time we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus, we receive Him into our lives. Jesus reminds us as He answered His apostle, Thomas, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” It is only through Jesus that we truly know God the Father. Faith Catholic shares a beautiful reflection on the Scripture: “In todays’ Gospel taken from the Farewell Discourse in John’s Gospel, Jesus offers words of comfort to his disciples as he prepares for his arrest and crucifixion. Jesus invites them to trust in God and to look forward to the day when they will be reunited in the Father’s house. In ancient times when a group required accommodation for the night, one member would often be sent ahead to reserve a place at the nearest inn. But what Jesus offers them is not just an inn but an eternal dwelling place in his Father’s house. And yet the disciples are confused, even puzzled by his words. Thomas, speaking for the others, asks the obvious questions: Where is Jesus going? How will they know the way to follow him? To these questions Jesus responds with one of the great I AM sayings in John’s Gospel: I am the way and the truth and the life. Jesus declares himself to be the only way to God and that to have known him is to have known the Father. But this declaration too raises questions in the disciples’ minds; this time, it is Philip who speaks. For him and presumably the others, it would be enough just to see the Father. Like the disciples, we bring our own questions to the Lord. When we’re not certain where the Lord is leading us, in our prayer, we often ask for clarity, sometimes even for certainty . “Show us the Father” is disciple-speak for “Lord, please reveal yourself fully so that we know where we’re headed .” Jesus responds to Philip by saying, Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. God has revealed himself fully to us. Jesus is the Word of the Father who has taken on flesh and dwelt among us. In him and through his presence the very glory of God has come into the world and is now visible to all who recognize him with the eyes of faith. When we find ourselves asking the Lord for clarity in prayer, let us remember that he has already revealed the answer: Jesus. All the answers to the questions we ask of God can be found in the One who is the way, the truth, and the life . “ Let us pray for all of our communicants as they receive the Body and Blood of Jesus for the first time. May the love of Jesus be with them always. Have a blessed week! Fr. The name was born in the 1850’s when a finger of the bay extended far inland between Telegraph and Russian Hills and the neighborhood was a sunny stretch of shore. Many worlds intermingle in North Beach now. What was once known as “Little Italy,” has become a melting pot of Italian, Chinese, Hispanic, Japanese, Indian, and other pocket communities. Central in the exciting ethnic mosaic is the church of SS. Peter and Paul which traces its original foundation to 1884. The first location of the church was on the corner of Filbert Street and Grant Avenue. The San Francisco fire and earthquake of 1906 razed this structure to the ground. The present church, with its twin lofty spires that soar 191 feet into the sky, was completed in 1924. For over a century, the church of SS. Peter and Paul has served parishioners, charmed the numerous tourists who visit it daily, and has been an inspiration to the members of the North Beach community. A ribbon of verse from Dante’s “Paradiso” spans the facade and translates: “The glory of Him who moves all things penetrates and glows throughout the universe.” This mosaic inscription placed just above the three entrances to the church connects the four large pillars upon which rest the symbols of the four Evangelists: Matthew (An angel), Mark (A lion), Luke (An ox) and John (An eagle). Original plans, regrettably laid away to rest, called for spectacular outdoor mosaics covering the entire facade. The twin spires (191 feet) have become a landmark in the area. The church is 100 feet wide and 160 feet long. The magnificent rose window measures fourteen feet in diameter. In the first reading, Peter proclaims to the Jews and all in Jerusalem that Jesus, commended to [them] by God, was also killed by them. But that God raised him up. Peter writes that all have been ransomed by the precious blood of Christ. In the Gospel, two disciples travelled from Jerusalem to Emmaus, discussing all that had happened. Jesus joined them, but they did not recognize him until they sat for a meal and he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Seven years ago, I was working as a treasurer at the Salesian Provincial Office in San Francisco. One day, I received news that my father had been rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton. The message was blunt: “He might not make it.” I immediately left the office and drove home to be with him. Although the drive only took an hour and a half, the distance felt much longer. Many things raced through my mind. I remember thinking that if someone could have traveled with me during that trip, they might have helped me remain calm. In today’s Gospel from Luke, we hear the story of two disciples of Jesus. They were leaving Jerusalem on their way to Emmaus. During this time of confusion and loss of hope, Jesus appeared in their midst, though they did not recognize him. They explained to him everything that had been happening regarding Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus listened as if he had not heard the news, and then began to share the Scriptures with them, starting with Moses and all the prophets. He intended to reveal how the Scriptures pointed to him, but their eyes and minds were not yet open. Jesus met the disciples in the middle of their confusion. He explained the Scriptures so they could see God’s plan throughout salvation history: how God called Abraham to a new land and made a covenant to make him the father of a great nation; how God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt; and how God spoke through the prophets, promising a Messiah who would free the people from their sins. Ultimately, Jesus was incarnated on earth to suffer and die for us, rising from the dead so that we might all have eternal life. As the day grew dark, the disciples urged Jesus to stay with them. Despite everything he had spoken, they still had not recognized him. He joined them at the table, took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. Immediately, they recognized him in the breaking of the bread, but just as they did, he vanished. Filled with joy, they hurried back to Jerusalem to share the Good News with the other disciples. As we gather today to celebrate the Eucharist, Christ gives himself to us in the breaking of the bread at Holy Communion. Do we recognize him? Do we believe that Jesus is truly present in this liturgical celebration? Jesus wants to remain with us; he speaks to us through the Scriptures and gives himself to us through his Body and Blood. Like Jesus disciples, we are called to go and share the Good News by living and witnessing the Gospel. Have a blessed week! Fr. A gift from the Global Data Registry

When the Global Data Registry crawled https://salesiansspp.org/, we found no structured data — the language AI systems use to understand and describe a business online.

Schema is how ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity know what your business does and how to describe you accurately to your customers. Without it, AI systems are guessing.

The most important field in this block is sameAs — a verified edge connecting your website to your permanent record at the Global Data Registry. This is a free, confirmed link to a real verified source. It costs nothing and gives your website a confirmed node in the graph that AI systems traverse when building answers about your business.

Copy the block below and paste it into the <head> of your website. Or drop it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask it to extend it with your full business details — that is the fastest path to a complete schema record.

▶   What is schema?

Schema is a standard vocabulary maintained at schema.org that lets websites describe themselves in a language machines can read. When you add schema to your website, you are telling AI systems, search engines, and knowledge graphs exactly what your business is and how it connects to the rest of the web.
