All of the public health materials we use to control mosquitoes are registered with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and are regulated by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation and Los Angeles County Agricultural Commissioner / Weights and Measures . For details regarding materials' research to registration, please contact the manufacturers. The materials are chosen based on their ability to be effective against mosquitoes and have minimal risks to humans, pets, and the environment. These treatments are usually made with a truck-mounted applicator that disperses an ultra-low volume mist into the air. The mist's droplets are small enough to target mosquitoes. If weather conditions are not favorable, or if there are operational delays, the treatment may be postponed or delayed. Treatments may continue or resume in the following weeks with continued high mosquito populations or disease activity.
