Don’t Light Program advisories follow the boundaries of San Luis Obispo County. When the APCD issues an advisory, we will include specific regions in SLO County that are most affected. Historically, during the winter months, these high particle pollution levels from wood smoke occur in the northern portion of SLO County (Paso Robles, Atascadero, Templeton).  Want more information? You can reach them by calling 805-781-5500 or visit them online at SLOPublicHealth.org . Public Health has also developed a collaborative brochure on Valley Fever with the Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures, and that information can be found by clicking here .  Valley Fever - Know the Risk, Protect Your Health Valley Fever is a disease caused by a fungus in the soil here in San Luis Obispo County. You can reduce your risk and seek treatment if you become sick.  What is Valley Fever?  Valley Fever (Coccidioidomycosis), is a diseases that lives in the soil. When soil is disturbed by wind, construction, farming, digging, earthquakes, or other activities, the fungal spores can drift into the air. People and animals breathe in these spores and can develop Valley Fever. The spores can infect lungs, and in some cases spread to other parts of the body. In less than 1% of cases, Valley Fever can be fatal.  According to the SLO County Public Health Department, people can get Valley Fever anywhere in San Luis Obispo County. More cases occur in the north and east parts of the county, where conditions are often more dusty and windy. Low rates in an area do not mean there is no risk.    What should you do if you get Valley Fever? If you may have breathed in dirt or dust and are experiencing flu-like symptoms that do not improve after several weeks, go to your health care provider and ask to be tested for Valley Fever. Be sure to tell your doctor that you may have been exposed to Valley Fever.  Air Quality Info About Air Quality Air Quality Complaints AQI & Your Health Air Toxics Asbestos & Your Health Climate Change Don't Light Tonight Monitoring Stations Oceano Dunes Efforts Valley Fever Blue Whales & Blue Skies Air Quality Forecast City/Region Specific Data Find Your Location AQI Worldwide Quick Links APCD Board Agendas & Minutes Downloadable Forms Available Grant Funding Permit Information Air Pollution Complaints Burn Program 1-800-834-2876 (Burn Day Status) E-Pay Current Air Quality Conditions   OZONE PM10 PM2.5 Atascadero 37 24 54 Carrizo Plain 44 15   Morro Bay 38     Nipomo - CDF   66 76 Nipomo - Mesa2   58 73 Nipomo - NRP 32 33   Oso Flaco   43   Paso Robles 40 32   Red Hills 43     San Luis Obispo   31 71 Click here for the air quality in all SLO County Regions Air Quality Index Forecast Stations Sat May 16 Sun May 17 Mon May 18 Atascadero Good Good Good Carrizo Plain Good Good Good Morro Bay Good Good Good Nipomo - CDF Moderate Moderate Good Nipomo - Mesa Moderate Moderate Good Nipomo - NRP Good Good Good Paso Robles Good Good Good Red Hills Good Good Good San Luis Obispo Good Good Good Click here for the full 5 day forecast Recent News Next APCD Board Meeting, May 20, 2026 The APCD Board's next meeting will be held at the SLO County Board of Supervisors Chambers on[...] Hearing Board Recruitment - April 27 - June 1, 2026 Beginning April 27 through June 1, 2026, the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control Distric[...] 2026-2027 Proposed Budget Available The Air Pollution Control District's proposed budget of $6,958,636 for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-[...] Lawn & Garden Electrification Program - Now Available APCD's Lawn and Garden Electrification Program This program can help commercial landscape[...] Funding Available for Agriculture & Marine While funding is now extremely limited, we continue to accept applications for Agricultural Tract[...] Tweets by SLOCleanAir Tweets by SLOAireLimpio Contact Us Your Name Email Message Send Submit an Air Quality Complaint › SLO County APCD 3433 Roberto Court San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 (805) 781-5912 [email protected] Stay Connected Copyright © 2026 SLO Clean Air  |&nbsp Privacy Policy  |&nbsp Website Design and Development by LIFTOFF Digital Food Miles Program | SLO County APCD APCD office is open 8am to 5pm (closed 12-1pm for lunch) on Monday through Thursday. How far does your food travel?  Did you know that on average, most food in the U.S. travels 1,500 miles before it gets to your plate? What are "Food Miles"?  Food Miles are the distance your food travels from its origin at the farm to the store where you purchase it. These emissions can be very costly, not just to your pocket book, but to the environment. Food miles are actually among the fastest-growing sources of greenhouse gases worldwide.  Why it matters When food is shipped, it creates greenhouse gases, so the less your food has to travel, the better it is for our air quality. When you purchase local goods you are preserving agricultural landscapes. Loss of farmland to development is less likely when farms are profitable. Almost 250,000 tons of global warming gases released were attributable to imports of food products. This is equivalent to the amount of pollution produced by more than 40,000 vehicles on the road or nearly two power plants, all of which cause unhealthy air quality. More than 3 million tons of fruits, vegetables, cereals, nuts, and wine are imported annually from overseas into California by ship, airplane, and truck. This is produce that could be bought from local farmers. Supporting local farmers keeps dollars circulating within our community, which translates to jobs! Ways you can help! Buy produce that is locally grown and in season. See below for the SLO County APCD's seasonal food chart.  Support local Farmers' Markets. See below for the list of the Farmers' Markets in your area below. Certified Farmers' Markets Local farmers' markets allow producers to sell their certified commodities directly to the public, and therefore reducing the amount of shipping miles on products. The following 20 farmers' markets have been certified by the Agricultural Commissioner to market local and regional produce in San Luis Obispo County. Check out the one in your area! CLICK HERE TO SEE THEM! Did You Know?  According to the SLO County Department of Agriculture/Weights and Measures, despite persistent drought and variable weather conditions, the value of agricultural commodities produced in San Luis Obispo County during 2020 was $754,282,000. This value represents the incredible value of local farms in SLO County and is also demonstrating the perseverance and diversified production of our local agriculturalists.  Here is how the top twenty value crops in SLO County:  Strawberries: 34% Wine Grapes (all): 23% Avocados: 5.5% Cattle & Calves: 4% Vegetable Transplants: 4% Broccoli: 4% Cauliflower: 3% Head Lettuce: 3% Cut Flowers: 2.5% Lemons: 2% Additional Links SLO County Seasonally Grown Food Chart Central Coast Grown Recipes with locally grown & in-season foods - Card 1 & Card 2 Contact us for more information on this topic.  Community Clean Cities EV 101 Food Miles Grants & Incentives SLO Car Free Teacher Resources Transportation Alternatives Videos SLO Clean Air Podcast CEC ZEV Infrastructure Social Media Disclaimer Air Quality Forecast City/Region Specific Data Find Your Location AQI Worldwide Quick Links APCD Board Agendas & Minutes Downloadable Forms Available Grant Funding Permit Information Air Pollution Complaints Burn Program 1-800-834-2876 (Burn Day Status) E-Pay Current Air Quality Conditions   OZONE PM10 PM2.5 Atascadero 37 24 54 Carrizo Plain 44 15   Morro Bay 38     Nipomo - CDF   66 76 Nipomo - Mesa2   58 73 Nipomo - NRP 32 33   Oso Flaco   43   Paso Robles 40 32   Red Hills 43     San Luis Obispo   31 71 Click here for the air quality in all SLO County Regions Air Quality Index Forecast Stations Sat May 16 Sun May 17 Mon May 18 Atascadero Good Good Good Carrizo Plain Good Good Good Morro Bay Good Good Good Nipomo - CDF Moderate Moderate Good Nipomo - Mesa Moderate Moderate Good Nipomo - NRP Good Good Good Paso Robles Good Good Good Red Hills Good Good Good San Luis Obispo Good Good Good Click here for the full 5 day forecast Recent News Next APCD Board Meeting, May 20, 2026 The APCD Board's next meeting will be held at the SLO County Board of Supervisors Chambers on[...] Hearing Board Recruitment - April 27 - June 1, 2026 Beginning April 27 through June 1, 2026, the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control Distric[...] 2026-2027 Proposed Budget Available The Air Pollution Control District's proposed budget of $6,958,636 for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-[...] Lawn & Garden Electrification Program - Now Available APCD's Lawn and Garden Electrification Program This program can help commercial landscape[...] Funding Available for Agriculture & Marine While funding is now extremely limited, we continue to accept applications for Agricultural Tract[...] Tweets by SLOCleanAir Tweets by SLOAireLimpio Contact Us Your Name Email Message Send Submit an Air Quality Complaint › SLO County APCD 3433 Roberto Court San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 (805) 781-5912 [email protected] Stay Connected Copyright © 2026 SLO Clean Air  |&nbsp Privacy Policy  |&nbsp Website Design and Development by LIFTOFF Digital SLO County APCD APCD office is open 8am to 5pm (closed 12-1pm for lunch) on Monday through Thursday. The various reports are presented below. Annual Air Quality Reports   |    AB2588 Air Toxics Hot Spots Report    South County Air Quality Report   |  Air Quality Trends Annual Report The Annual Air Quality Report describes the network of air monitoring sites operated in the county for that calendar year (occasionally 2 years are combined); the different pollutants measured at each site; the state and federal health standards that must be met for each pollutant; the three highest concentrations measured for each pollutant at each site during that year; and trend charts presenting several years of concentration data for both ozone and particulate matter, the two pollutants of most concern in our county. The goal of these programs is to identify facilities with localized toxic impacts, assess their health risks, notify nearby residents of significant risks, and ultimately reduce those significant risks to acceptable levels. The enabling statues are Health and Safety Code (H&SC) §§ 44300 – 44394, and specific reporting requirements for facilities are contained in the “Emission Inventory Criteria and Guidelines Report” (EICG), which has the force of regulation as it is incorporated by reference into Title 17 of the California Code of Regulations § 93300.5. Per H&SC § 44363, air districts are required to prepare annual reports describing priorities and categories used to assess toxic emissions and to summarize the results and progress of their health risk assessment programs. The below link is to the report that covers calendar year 2024emissions and summarizes the District's efforts to implement the Air Toxics Hot Spots Program. 2024 Annual Air Toxics "Hot Spots" Report    Previous Air Toxics "Hot Spots" Reports 2023 Annual Air Toxics "Hot Spots" Report   South County Air Quality Reports The APCD has conducted several studies to evaluate the high particulate matter concentrations measured in the South County and to develop potential solutions to the dust emissions from the Oceano Dunes that are impacting downwind neighbors. Comparison of our monitoring data against the California state standards for multiple year periods provides us with a good indicator of how our air quality is improving.   Air Quality Trends Report: 1991- 2011 The Air Quality Trends Report analyzes trends in ozone and particulate matter measurements from 1991 through 2011. Emission reduction strategies implmented by the District and other air agencies statewide have resulted in significant improvements in air quality in most areas of the county during this period, despite considerable increases in population and vehicle miles traveled. Ozone levels have fallen countywide, and airborne particulate levels have also declined significantly in most areas except the south county. In-depth analysis of numerous statistical indicators and other measures of long-term air quality trends are presented in the report.  Staff Report to the Board and Final Air Quality Trends Report Contact us for more information on this topic.   Since 2010, the District has been upgrading and standardizing our data compilation and analysis methods, including improvements to data accuracy by switching to electronic data tabulation rather than the manual count method used previously. A comprehensive review of the data presented in previous annual reports was also conducted to identify and correct any data discrepancies compared to current methods; this review revealed some tabulation errors in the pollutant trend charts presented in reports prior to 2010. Addenda have been added to the 1999-2009 Annual Reports to correct those errors; a detailed discussion in the 2008-2009 Annual Report and referenced in the other reports describes the specific errors corrected and some of the new data review and presentation protocols now in place. Training and smaller hazard reduction burns are planned for various dates throughout the month of May, including weeks leading up to the main burn. This burn is an interagency operation hosted by Camp Roberts Fire in cooperation with numerous other local and regional agencies. All agencies will be participating in the training and will be practicing wildland firefighting techniques to further their understanding and abilities. Prescribed burning is an important tool used to minimize fire hazards and minimize the likelihood of uncontrolled future wildfires that would have the potential to induce significant air quality impacts on the local community. Smoke will be present on the day of the prescribed burns. The SLO County APCD and Monterey Bay Air Resources District will be working collaboratively with all involved agencies to minimize smoke impacts and ensure up-to-date air quality information is provided to the public. Children, the elderly, and those that already have a respiratory condition are the most susceptible to the health impacts of smoke and should use caution if they smell smoke. Additional information will be provided as the burn window gets closer. The burn is dependent on weather and air quality conditions that are favorable for smoke dispersal. If the conditions are not as desired, the burn may be rescheduled. SLO County APCD will continue to closely monitor air pollution levels throughout the region. A gift from the Global Data Registry

When the Global Data Registry crawled https://www.slocleanair.org/, we found no structured data — the language AI systems use to understand and describe a business online.

Schema is how ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity know what your business does and how to describe you accurately to your customers. Without it, AI systems are guessing.

The most important field in this block is sameAs — a verified edge connecting your website to your permanent record at the Global Data Registry. This is a free, confirmed link to a real verified source. It costs nothing and gives your website a confirmed node in the graph that AI systems traverse when building answers about your business.

Copy the block below and paste it into the <head> of your website. Or drop it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask it to extend it with your full business details — that is the fastest path to a complete schema record.

▶   What is schema?

Schema is a standard vocabulary maintained at schema.org that lets websites describe themselves in a language machines can read. When you add schema to your website, you are telling AI systems, search engines, and knowledge graphs exactly what your business is and how it connects to the rest of the web.
