Behavioral Health is a term used to describe both mental and emotional well-being. It includes many aspects of our lives. Good emotional health can be as basic as knowing how to cope with day-to-day challenges. At times, it can be more complex and involve the treatment of mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, substance use and other addictive behaviors. Behavioral health is an essential part of your overall health. At San Mateo Medical Center, we offer an integrated treatment approach where professionals across disciplines collaborate to treat the whole person and to promote wellness in all its forms. You work on your muscle groups in a certain order. When your body is physically relaxed, you cannot feel anxious. Practicing progressive muscle relaxation regularly will help you get better at this skill, and in time you will be able to use this method to relieve stress. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (video) Progressive Muscle Relaxation Training (video) Diaphragmatic Breathing Diaphragmatic breathing, sometimes called belly breathing, is a deep breathing technique that engages your diaphragm, a muscle at the bottom of your ribcage that is primarily responsible for respiratory function. Diaphragmatic breathing encourages full oxygen exchange — that is, the beneficial trade of incoming oxygen for outgoing carbon dioxide. This type of breathing slows the heartbeat and can lower or stabilize blood pressure. 20 Minutes of Breathing App (audio) Grounding Technique: Deep Breathing  (video) The Butterfly Hug  (video) Alleviate Anxiety with This Simple Breathing Exercise  (video) Mental Health Apps Useful Wellness and Mental Health Apps Understanding Mental Health Types of Medication Important Facts About Controlled Sleep Medications How to Take Your Antidepressant Zoom Information Download Zoom for Online Groups and classes: Android iPhone   Wellness Resources (ESPAÑOL) Meditación de Atención Plena La atención plena es la consciencia vigilante de las emociones, sensaciones o acciones. Benefits of the 340B Program San Mateo Medical Center realized $12 million in savings through participation in the 340B program, which supports our ability to provide services to under- and uninsured patients, regardless of their ability to pay, and to address health care needs in our community. In addition to providing free and discounted prescription drugs to low-income patients, San Mateo Medical Center provides a variety of services to help care for the most vulnerable in our community, including: financial assistance to patients unable to afford their prescriptions; clinical pharmacy services, such as disease management programs or medication therapy management; other medical services, such as diabetes education, oncology services, and other ambulatory services; community outreach programs; preventive care and mental and behavioral health services; support in using alternative modes of pain management to reduce opioid use; free vaccinations for vulnerable populations; access to specialty care, such as oncology care, not otherwise available to many low-income individuals in the community; and discharge prescriptions as part of program efforts to reduce avoidable readmissions. These services, and others, are valued at more than $61 million in charity care to our community. Impact of Scaling Back the 340b Program Scaling back the 340B Program would threaten San Mateo Medical Center’s capacity to offer the services described above to our patients. Post September 27, 2020 Para leer esta información en español, haga clic en el botón blanco “language” ubicado arriba. Everyone over the age of 6 months should get a flu vaccine every year. Flu vaccines are safe and especially important for those younger than 5 years, older than 65 years, pregnant women, and anyone who has asthma, chronic lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, and kidney and liver disorders. How to Get A Flu Vaccine in Your Clinic If you already have an in-person appointment scheduled with your primary care provider, we’ll offer you the flu shot while you’re here. Patients can make an appointment for a flu shot at their clinic. Please call your clinic today to make an appointment.  Why Should I Get a Flu Vaccine Every Year? Every year the flu virus changes so the vaccine changes too. This is why getting your flu vaccine every year offers better protection. Getting a flu vaccine will lessen the effects of the flu if you get it and minimize your chances of getting seriously ill and being hospitalized. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one (1) business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (650) 573-2525. Get an Estimate Now Patients can use our self-service estimate tool to get an estimate of costs. Click here to use our Self-Services Estimate Tool   The estimate will be based on the health insurance plan and the procedure(s) you select. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw an increase of patients reporting food insecurity. In addition to organizing on-site pick up and home delivery of food boxes, we launched a strategic initiative to better identify food insecurity needs and connect patients with nutritious food resources. We standardized workflows to screen every patient for food insecurity and developed a QR based technology for referrals in partnership with  Second Harvest Food Bank . Other key components include warm hand-offs to social workers for real-time support, new processes in the electronic health record, and weekly food box delivery coordinated by the  San Mateo County Health Foundation  and  Samaritan House . We are so honored to receive this award and are proud of the team at Fair Oaks Health Center who designed and piloted the partnership and program before spreading it to other clinics. We also are grateful to our community partners who help us connect patients to the food resources they need to live their healthiest life.   Learn more about Back Share this page Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Social link April 27, 2016 Follow us on Facebook Read more Social link April 27, 2016 Follow us on Twitter Read more Connect With Us Footer link July 19, 2016 About Read more Footer link July 5, 2016 Careers Read more Footer link July 6, 2016 Contact Read more Footer link July 5, 2016 Directory Read more Footer link April 11, 2016 Patient Privacy Read more Footer link December 13, 2023 Price Transparency Read more Footer link April 11, 2016 RFPs Read more Footer link July 6, 2016 San Mateo County Health Read more Sponsor link April 11, 2016 Health Plan of San Mateo Read more Sponsor link April 11, 2016 Network of Care Read more Sponsor link April 11, 2016 Get Healthy SMC Read more Sponsor link April 11, 2016 Hospital Consortium of SMC Read more Disclaimer Privacy Policy © 2026 San Mateo County. A gift from the Global Data Registry

When the Global Data Registry crawled https://www.smchealth.org/san-mateo-medical-center, we found no structured data — the language AI systems use to understand and describe a business online.

Schema is how ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity know what your business does and how to describe you accurately to your customers. Without it, AI systems are guessing.

The most important field in this block is sameAs — a verified edge connecting your website to your permanent record at the Global Data Registry. This is a free, confirmed link to a real verified source. It costs nothing and gives your website a confirmed node in the graph that AI systems traverse when building answers about your business.

Copy the block below and paste it into the <head> of your website. Or drop it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask it to extend it with your full business details — that is the fastest path to a complete schema record.

▶   What is schema?

Schema is a standard vocabulary maintained at schema.org that lets websites describe themselves in a language machines can read. When you add schema to your website, you are telling AI systems, search engines, and knowledge graphs exactly what your business is and how it connects to the rest of the web.
